< The Boston Celtics are continuing to be active in trade talks as they are evaluating their options on moving Anfernee Simons to another team after acquiring him from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Jrue Holiday deal. Simons, who is represented by Bill Duffy, is on an expiring contract worth $27.7 million. “I have talked to other teams who have said they are actively trying to trade Anfernee Simons,” said Brian Windhorst on Wednesday’s Hoop Collective Podcast. “Whether they can or not is another [thing].” >

I imagine Brad is actively looking towards the future and cost cutting where it makes sense, while being good with keeping Simons if no good offers present themselves.
I’m glad he’s preserving our core of the Jay’s and the Buffalo.
Off-season looking worse every day. We lose the picks we gained in the Jrue trade and we will likely have to give up something to move this guy.
Gave up something to move Porzingis.
Lost Horford and Kornet.
I don’t see how we are competitive when Tatum comes back unless we either luck into a top draft pick or trade Brown/white for picks and young talent.
There’s just not enough talent on the team
Just based on the current roster construction, trading Simons for a big man who makes somewhere between $8M-$15M makes a ton of sense. Our current big man depth is hilariously thin and we’d probably be able to dip all the way below the first apron if we took on < $15M.
Trade him for Kessler
Good ol salary dump
It makes sense to dump him if someone is offering a first. Otherwise I’d rather see him come here and re-evaluate things at the deadline
Simons and Niang for a starting Center would be a good move, but we would also have to secure a better power forward unless we really want to start Josh Minott
There was a trade idea floated of shipping him to the Bulls for Jaylen Smith and Coby White (assuming the Bulls were interested). It would get us back below the 2nd Apron and gives us at least a serviceable center
i live in portland. blazers had been trying to shop ant for a year plus and finally found a taker in the c’s. before jrue’s negative medical the blazers even had to give away draft picks to get rid of him. will be very impressed if brad gets anything noteworthy for him.
It’s gonna be a funny roster if we can’t secure a somewhat decent center
I think people thinking we’re trading Simons for team construction purposes (i.e., a center) will be very disappointed. More than likely we’re trying to dump his salary too. And we STILL won’t be able to clear space to acquire players.
I’d rather trade Simons than lose Hauser
But Niang is right there…
No team has a trade exception large enough to take him and only Utah has significant cap room left, I believe. So unless it’s Utah, we have to take back at least ~$20M in salaries. But it could be more than one player, which would make it easier to send one or more of them into other team’s trade exceptions.
Oh no, we’re past the KP and Jrue trade speculation saga and on to the Simmons trade speculation saga.
In before ” Walker Kessler and a 1st for Simmons??” posts.
Simons was never going to be in Boston long term.
Payroll is still too high so they’ll need to find a way to cut costs and Simons makes too much
Simons, Giang and picks for Giannis.. Obviously
I feel like part of Horford waiting it out is because the Celtics are trying to dump Simons to the pay him and sign Lillard and the Celtics atleast got Horford to hold off on making a decision to give them a chance to do that…. because at the very least Horford remembers not waiting around for the Celtics to make moves last time when he left for Philly at the start of free agency
Salary dump for Lillard?
rip tank commander simons 😭
Kind of wanted to see him in green for one season while JT was out.
