Steelers Wouldn’t Actually Do This, Right?
[Music] What is up, Steelers Nation? Thank you so much for jumping on to another episode of the A Call-in Show. I’m no strike. Find us always on youtube.com/allsteelers talker. Subscribe anywhere you get your podcast. Today’s show loaded for you as we are in the midst of the unknown. TJ Watts still doesn’t have a deal. Yesterday we spoke about how his trade value may be changing. There’s plenty of conversation around Jaylen Ramsay, Darius Slay, Joey Porter Jr., where the Pittsburgh Steelers go, and as always, Aaron Rodgers, there’s bound to be some questions about him. Shout out to all of our members. As always, thank you guys so much for supporting our channel and for calling into this show. It makes my Wednesday every single week. And with that said, I won’t hold you up anymore. Let’s get into it. What’s up, fellas? Quick question. Yes, sir. How in best do these contracts get with players? Because I know they do different things such as, you know, you get a certain amount of stats, you get a certain amount of rewards. And would they be able to put into a contract to say, “Hey, if TJ gets if he breaks the single season record for sacks,” Yeah. could they extend his contract to two more years, assuming that they would only go up to three years or so? Yeah. Because in my opinion, I really think all he has to do is just slap his record without him being a starter because he’s hurt or something, you know? definitely seems like uh that’d be enough and I really feel like we could struggle if we didn’t have him and I don’t think there’s a player or any players good enough to even pick up his slack or at least not on the team currently. I agree. But uh yeah, that’s it. Appreciate it. Shout out way to start this one off. Incentives are a big part of players contracts and I agree with you like you’re not replacing TJ Watt. It’s not happening. I know people want to argue it. I know people do. Maybe we’ll have some calls where they do, but I got to be honest, like my opinion, and it’s only an opinion. I don’t think you can replace TJ Watt. I think he’s irreplaceable. In the long term, sure, you could probably replace anybody in the NFL. But in the short term, in the you want to win a Super Bowl in 2025, in the you went out and got Aaron Rogers and DK Metaf and Darius Slay and Jaylen Ramsey and you did all of these things to give up TJ Watt, you will not be able to replace him this season and have the same impact that he’s going to have whether he has production or not. I mean, TJ Watt with 11 and a half sacks opened the door for a lot of guys who didn’t take advantage of it. And I think that would change if he’s not there because you have nobody to take on the double teams. You’ve nobody to try and force an offense to just tell you you have to be focused on this one guy. You can’t do that. So I think TJ Watt is replace isn’t replaceable. Incentives are are usually statisticbased, win-based, Super Bowl based, all that stuff. Adding years, I’ve never heard of it. I don’t believe you can do it. I I think that’s where they draw the line. It’s all money. The terms of a contract are typically, hey, you’ll make this much money. If you play this well, you’ll make more money. But in terms of length, it’s usually a set in stone type of ordeal. Now, the Steelers are going to set it up, and the only reason they’d go five years is so that they could push the cap back, but they won’t have to keep TJ Watt that whole time. If TJ Watt falls off a cliff in 2025 and it’s over, yeah, you’re going to take a pretty nasty cap hit, but you can move on from TJ Watt. If he falls off a cliff in 2026, you could get rid of TJ White. You could probably trade him to somebody because somebody’s going to call and say, “Yeah, we’ll take TJ Watt for a fifth round pick and we’ll take on a majority of his contract.” And you’ll have those options. I just think that, you know, I understand the not wanting to pay a guy until he’s 36 years old, $41 million a year. I get that. But by the time TJ’s 36 years old, $41 million a year for an edge rusher isn’t going to be a lot of money. It’s just not. It’s going to be like when he signed for $25 million a year and everybody was going, “That’s a ridiculous amount of money.” Yeah. Well, four years later, it’s not. It’s actually ridiculously cheap. So, I I there are ways around it. I get the five-year. They have to make it a 5-year because it it it allows them to spread out the cap hit and the signing bonus and so on and so forth. You can’t add years. I don’t think they’d be interested in it, but if he breaks the single season sack record in 2025, you’re going to be so happy as the Pittsburgh Steelers to have a guy for $41 million a year because if you hit the market that offseason, he’d be making way more. I promise you that. Promise you that. Hey, Noah. Hey, Jones. I don’t know around this time we’re gonna find TJ Watt, but I’m going to, uh, give you a wild theory on what I was thinking last night on why we have not signed TJ Watt. Love it. All right. Last season, uh, he got triple and double covered all last season and he didn’t really do much at the end of last season. Beginning he did pretty good. the end of it, he didn’t really do much. Um, the wild theory that I’m trying to explain was when we drafted Drax Sawyer, uh, an outside linebacker for Ohio State. Um, do you I’m thinking that he is the guy to replace TJ Watt this year since last year TJ Watt was kind of quiet at the end of last year. What are your thoughts on that? Uh, let me know on uh, Wednesday. And uh I’m sending this on the 4th of July. So happy 4th of July and I hope you and your family have a good 4th of July. Thank you. Go Steelers. I love the show. Bye. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Happy 4th to you and everybody else. Hope you enjoyed it, my friend. Um I I don’t think Jack Sawyer is here to replace TJ Watt. Not this season. I I think more likely Jack Sawyer could be here in the long term to replace Alex Highmith, but I don’t think it’s it’s TJ Watt. And I don’t think Alex Highmith’s going anywhere. But when his contract ends, the Steelers will have decisions to make. And it’s way easier to replace a guy like Alex Highmith than it is TJ Watt. Look, it the Steelers, from everything I’ve been told, from every source I’ve spoken to, want to get a deal done with TJ. Feel they’re going to get a deal done with TJ. That hasn’t changed one time, and I don’t expect it to change anytime soon. I don’t think Jack Sawyer, a fourth round pick, is here to replace TJ Watt this season. Nick Herbig would be a better option. But look at it. Look at the way the Steelers have gone about these things. Alex Highmith didn’t come in here as a fourth round pick or a third round pick and and immediately join the starting lineup. TJ Watt didn’t come in here as a first round pick and immediately join the starting lineup. The Steelers are always slow rolling these guys. And if you’re a fourth round pick in the NFL, you’re not coming in here to replace TJ Watt. To be honest, if the Steelers plan was for Jack Sawyer to be a starter in week one and get rid of TJ and they felt comfortable with that, everybody in Pittsburgh should be fired immediately because that is an awful plan. You’re not going to replace the second best to maybe the best edge rusher in football with a guy who is a fourth round pick and has never played a snap and was a fourth round pick for a reason. Like, you’re just not you’re not going to do that. you’re not gonna have the success that you want to have. So, I maybe in the long term, Jack Sawyer is a guy who comes in here and starts, but I think everybody had that expectation for Nick Herbig. And as we go through it, we’re all kind of realizing Nick Herbig’s a really valuable number three and maybe one day becomes a starter, but right now isn’t the guy that you want opposite of either Alex Highmith or TJ Watt. You just don’t feel comfortable. You don’t feel like you’re going to get the same value as the guys that you have right now. The Steelers are an organization that win through their edge rushers. It’s the most important position in a Pittsburgh Steelers locker room outside of quarterback. And the Steelers aren’t going to just take a significant step backwards to replace him. So, I get it. I understand the the worry and I like the conspiracy theory. I like all conspiracy theories, but I just don’t think that you’d get the value. And if it was the case, an absolutely atrocious move by the Pittsburgh Steelers organization. Hey Noah, it’s Jay. Just calling in before I get into Too Many Sonics. Yes, sir. Hope you’re good. Just listen to Wednesday afternoon’s episode. Um, calling in Thursday afternoon. Getting ready for the fourth. I don’t want to get too many Sonics deep. Paid the guys, sent them home. It’s It’s party time for the weekend. Had a few things I needed to touch on, though. Listen to Wednesday’s show. You said it was easy to replace Minka. Well, is it? Where’s our next Troy? You know, we haven’t found a new Troy. Where’s our next Ryan Shayer? Haven’t found that yet. I mean, it it’s coming. They’re they’re good, but you know, where’s our great Where’s our Where’s our Steeler D on that. Um, want to start there, move into TJ, these people that want to take trade TJ. Um, I understand their point. I don’t agree with it. I understand it and and the thought has crossed your mind. Um, but did you imagine TJ coming back to Pittsburgh on a revenge game? Good lord. I don’t know who we’d have at quarterback, but thank you. I mean, you better have your rosary beads in the stands cuz our quarterback’s going to get killed. The game’s going to be a loss. He’s going to walk out of there with 10 sacks. Yes. He may set the record. Yes. Playing in Pittsburgh. Just no. Just no. Just no. Just pay the man, please. Let’s just pay the man. Um it may look bad at the end of it when he and only plays half a season. I don’t care. Pay the man. get him his helmet in Canton and it better have Pittsburgh on the side of it. Ag. Um, thirdly, you and Jacob, I got a bone to pick. Oh, y’all keep saying, you know, we’re not Super Bowl contenders. Stop with the hate. Y’all got to stop with the hate. All I want to hear about how Connor Hayward learned how to block and he’s going to be a great fullback. Let’s get to camp. And I all I want to hear about is how this team is the second coming of the 70 Steelers. That’s all I want to hear. They’re all great. Everybody’s a Hall of Famer. Everybody’s a allp pro guy and we are going to run the table. If I hear you and Jacob one more time say, “We’re not quite there yet and we’ll get there.” No. No. No sir. No, sir. We’re the Steelers don’t fold. Just like we don’t we we don’t give up a season to get a draft pick. We are always in it for a Super Bowl. We are always contenders. No matter how bad we are, no matter if Mitch Trabisk is our quarterback, we are in it to win a Super Bowl. And we can we I agree. I agree. I think he got cut off. We’re going Bye, Nella. Calling back. I got cut off. Sorry. Went on a little rant. Maybe I’ve already had, you know, a couple Sonics, but to be honest, yes, let’s keep this trucking. All right, the trucking. Don’t need the hate. We are perennial contenders always. Let’s not forget our run going in as a six seed. I’m sure nobody had faith back then. Have faith now. Everybody stays healthy, we can do it. Now, to some points, we’re talking about wide receiver number two. Yes, we need that. What I really want to see, I really want to see us continue to beef up the offensive line cuz we’re still unsure how it’s going to work out. So, let’s let’s continue to build that up. Um and and let’s build to the towards the future there because when Ben came in, we had the offensive line, we had the running game, we had the defense. Best thing you can have for a young quarterback. And if we’re going to get quarterback of the future next year, let’s have that offensive line. Let’s keep building that up. Let’s not give everything away. Let’s put some big boy tanks right up on that line and just move some people, right? So, just wanted to put that out there and uh hope you guys get on board with uh being Steeler fans and uh winning the Super Bowl and thinking we can do it, right? I know you do. I know you do. But let’s go. Let’s go Pittsburgh. You know, here we go, Steelers. Here we go. Let’s go. Y’all have a great fourth and well had a great fourth and hopefully TJ got signed by the time you all are listening to this on next Wednesday. Peace. Love you all. See you. Uh shout out to Jay, man. Shout out to Jay. I’ll start from the back end here. I I Okay, first off, I’m going to call I’m going to throw Jake under the bus here. Jacob’s the one that continues to say they’re not a Super Bowl contender. I agree with him. You know, I think they are a Super Bowl contender, but I think they’re a low-end Super Bowl contender. But I would also classify every other team that isn’t the big three of the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Kansas City Chiefs as like low-end Super Bowl contenders. Anybody else in the AFC just hasn’t proven that they could get past those guys. And until you can, you are a low-end Super Bowl contender. But that changes. And and that’s not how the NFL works. It’s just not. The last time the Steelers got to the Super Bowl, they did so because the best team in the NFL, the Tennessee Titans, lost to the Baltimore Ravens, who the Steelers could beat and did beat. And that’s just how it works. If Kansas City falls to Houston or Denver or whoever, if Buffalo, if the Steelers can get past one of these teams and they find themselves staring Baltimore right in the face in the AFC Championship game, there’s a shot. Like, there’s a there’s a real chance. You have no idea how things are going to go down. And because of that, definitely I would say that that they are in that in that sense they are a cont. Like I don’t fall for the Steelers not making the playoffs. That is ridiculous. And anybody who sits around going Steelers aren’t going to have a winning season, what do you what have you watched for the last 20 years that tells you that the Steelers aren’t going to have a winning season and aren’t going to be competing for a playoff spot and aren’t going to have a decent season? The Steelers always have a decent season. Duck Hodes. Everybody wants to talk Kenny Picket. Everybody wants to talk Mitch Mitch Trabzitzky. One shoulder helmet to the head. Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodes got the Pittsburgh Steelers to eight and eight and on the verge of pulling it off. Mike Tomlin gets teams to the playoffs. That’s just what he does. I’m not saying Mike Tom the greatest coach. I’m just saying he gets teams to the playoffs and that’s not going to change. It’s not going to change. The Steelers are Super Bowl contenders. I agree with that one. When it comes to Minka, we’ll start with Minka or we’ll go Minka next. I uh I don’t think Minka has been great over the last two years. I don’t think I put him anywhere close to the to the Ryan Shayer and the Troy Paul model. Not even remotely close. Two years ago, yeah, there’s definitely a conversation there. Like it’s it’s very difficult to replace Ma Fitzpatrick. right now to replace him with a guy who had more production last year who is also I mean Jaylen Ramsay is a future Hall of Famer. Mink is on the verge of a future Hall of Famer. I think that this upgrade is different than those of the past. So, and I don’t think it’s an upgrade. I think it’s an even dice, but the Steelers just went, we need versatility and we need something fresh and they went out and they got versatility and something fresh. And I love the move. I do. I think it’s a win-win for both teams and the Steelers get a little added sprinkle cherry on top with John Smith who’s coming off a Pro Bowl season, the best ever. And I say constantly, constantly that in the NFL tight ends, there is a good chunk of them who do not hit their prime until just about 30 years old. It’s a short prime, but Travis Kelce was not good until he was about 27, 28 years old. Like real good. Crazy good. Johnny Smith, man, I think he could uh I think he could still be a huge force for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I feel pretty good about him. And that what to me makes this trade really work in the Steelers favor. I feel really good about this one in the Steelers favor because I if if Minka and Jaylen are even and it doesn’t work out perfect for anybody and Janu has 700 yards and five touchdowns, Steelers won because they just got an added 700 yards and five touchdowns and I feel good about it. I think if it was like replace him for Aan Thornnehill, not feeling good about it. If it’s a replace him for Jordan Whitehead, not feeling good about it. But if it’s a replace him for Justin Simmons, if it’s a replace him for Jaylen Ramsay, if it’s a replace him for Darius Slay, I feel okay. I’m comfortable with the situation. I’m comfortable. And then trading TJ, it doesn’t make any sense. I just went on a rant. I’ll go on another one. It makes zero sense to trade TJ Watt. You’re not going to get the value that you want for him. Everybody keeps tossing out these ridiculous trades. I saw Philip Pony today say TJ to the Lions for Jameus Williams a third and a fourth or something and or a second and a fourth and I there’s no chance you’re pulling that off. You’re not getting that trade. You’re going to need a second maybe a third round pick for TJ Watt. That is not even close to worth it. Pay the man. You don’t have a quarterback contract. You have a boatload of cap space next year. You can figure it out. You always do. You always do. I just don’t see in any world, in any universe, how trading TJ Watt is the best outcome for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It just doesn’t add up in any way. Even if you are on the side of TJ Thawn, dude, he’s washed. He’s if washed is defensive player of the year finalist in 11 and a half sacks. Damn. So, like that’s not bad considering that half the NFL didn’t have 11 and a half sacks last season. Like, what are we doing here? I It just doesn’t make sense. It makes no sense. Actually, it’s continued to make no sense. And I will always be on the side of you pay TJ Watt. He’s a one helmet guy. Like you said, he’s headed if he retired today, he’s headed to the Hall of Fame. And I’m sorry, but I still think he’s got a couple of great years left in him. Not good years, great years left in him. He’s 31 years old and coming off the worst year of his career and was so pissed off heading into the off season. So pissed off heading into the offseason talking about how he’s going to change it. Well, if there’s one person in the entire NFL that I trust to figure it out, it’s TJ Watt. And it’ll remain TJ Watt. Jay, hope you enjoyed your uh Sonics over there. Hope everybody had a good fourth. Let’s keep it trucking. Hey fellas, what’s up? What’s up? was listening to the last five minutes of y’all’s last show, you were talking about how TA could possibly or is actually on the hot seat right now and could potentially be gone next season. And got me wondering if this season really does go down in turmoil and it turns out to be just a complete, you know, [ __ ] show, we could see like a totally new coaching staff assuming that they get rid of Tomlin, they get rid of GA. I don’t think they’d get rid of uh OC. It’s just that’d be a weird weird situation we’d be in for sure, but if the Ste would ever even think about trying to get rid of Mike Salman, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen, but just for for thought later. Good old Mike T. Good old Mike T. The Steelers would not fire Mike Tomlin. But I’ll tell you a story that was told to me over the offseason and that was that Mike Tomlin really wanted Shadur Sanders. Really, really wanted Shadur Sanders, but was told was made aware that Shadur Sanders is a guy that the Steelers weren’t interested in. Mike Tomlin was interested in him. And what pulled Mike Tomlin back was the thought, the idea, the notion, and probably what was said straight to his face from Art Rooney. and that is that everyone in Pittsburgh is running out of patience and that fans are getting louder by the year and that the quarterback situation is becoming the loudest and people are not happy that the Steelers cannot replace Ben Rothosberger. So, you want to know what you shouldn’t do if you’re Mike Tomlin? go get a guy in the first round that probably isn’t gonna go in the first round and try to make him good enough to replace Big Ben and to have a lot of noise in the process. And again, I don’t think that the Steelers would fire Mike Tomlin. It would take a lot to fire Mike Tomlin, but and I don’t think that this is going to go south. I don’t think this season’s going to be a five and 12 season. I just don’t. At worse, they’re they’re 9 and eight and on the verge of making the playoffs and there’s an excuse to bring him back again because he was nine and eight. But if you went after Shadur, I think Tomlin was well aware that he was running out of opportunities to mess things up and that his seat may have gotten warm if it didn’t work out. And to me, that is the first time in my time covering the Pittsburgh Steelers. And in all the times that I can remember where I have been told something where I went, Mike Tomlin actually might feel some pressure here. Might actually be in the bad graces of the organization. That’s not good. And that’s that’s certainly telling. Doesn’t mean that he’s going to get fired. No, him and Arun are closer than they’ve ever been. That I know. They are closer than they’ve ever been. They are fighting through this fire trying to figure it out together and they are all in on each other. But Rooney, just like Tomlin, is well aware that when things go south, and they go south every now and then, and when it continues to get really bad, the noise is getting louder. And the Pittsburgh Steelers, man, they are not about the noise anymore. They need it fixed. Again, I don’t think he’s got a hot seat, but I think there’s pressure. And I think as this contract comes to an end, depending on how the next two or three years go, there’s a real conversation that the Steelers and Tomlin have to go, we can’t continue to just be breaking even. We got to be more than this. And until then, it would take a catastrophic failure to get rid of him. But we are hitting the point where it doesn’t make a lot of sense to keep him if this continues. And I think the Steelers are actually aware of that at this point in in Tomlin’s career. Finally being able to call in after a crazy couple weeks. Shout out to Maddie. Shout out to Maddie. I guess the first one is how does it work when you trade back with a team that you got a player from? Like we got makeup from Miami, but he went back to Miami. Is there do they have to wait a certain amount of time or can it just happen like after like a year or so being on a and then also with Minka? Uh do you think Tomlin knew this was the path they were going to take with Minka or was this more of a like we should just see what’s out there and see what we can get for him type of thing? Uh, and I guess my third question is, um, which quarterback you project to declare in 26? Which quarterbacks are you going to start looking on looking at? Which quarterbacks are you going to keep on your radar? And what do they have to show for the Steelers to be all in on that guy? Love it. Love it. Great question. Great question. Shout out to Maddie. Beginning of it got cut off because I had to pause the recording real fast. So, shout out to our girl Maddie. Let’s start with Minka. I believe it’s a year. I believe it’s it’s one year. You have to wait before trading him back. It might be two, but I believe it’s one. I didn’t hear the rule until Deontay Johnson and all that happened. Uh, you could sign anywhere. So, if Ma got cut, you could go back to immediately, but I believe it’s a year. believe you have to wait a full NFL season before you’re able to trade him back. Um, I don’t know if if Tomlin knew this forever. You know, I do know that the Steelers and and don’t get me wrong, I was I was behind on the eightball with this one. You know, Dulac and Jeremy Fowler and everybody’s back in March. I heard it in April. I heard it right around the draft. uh that there was conversations that they knew what I was told is that they knew Minka wasn’t here long term that he wasn’t going to be a part of this thing forever and at that point it became very I became very aware that you know if the right offer presented itself maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers would consider it. Now I don’t think they went out shopping Minka. I think the right offer just presented itself and they said h two for one that sounds pretty good to me and the cap hits crazy. I mean, Jaylen Ramsay’s cap hit this season is like $67 million, which is awesome. Opens up way more money for the Pittsburgh Steelers. So, I I don’t think it was a definite, but it was in it was on the table all off season from my understanding. Now, the quarterbacks, Lenor Sellers has got to prove a lot to me. This is a guy that’s coming from a small school, had one really good year at South Carolina. Now, you need more. You need more from him, but I think he’s got it. Fernando Mendoza. That dude is a stud and he’s waiting to do more and I think he’s going to work his way into the first round. I truly truly do think he’s going to work his way into the the first round. Drew Aller is a name that I got to keep my eye on because I think Drew is fine. I think he chokes under pressure and I need to see more of him because the Steelers can’t have a guy who chokes under pressure. Not in this quarterback class. You can’t do it. Lenora Sers, Mendoza, Drew Aller are my big three that I think the Steelers would would be all in on. Would would have a really good shot that probably aren’t going to go first or second overall. Maybe Aller sneaks his way into there, but the the end of the top 10, the early teens type situations. And that’s where the Steelers sweet spot is. And I think those guys have really crazy potential. I think nobody knows about Mendoza, but I think he is an absolute stud at Cal. Like I look at him and say this dude has so much more potential than we’re talking about and people are totally ignoring him because he’s a smaller smaller name in a bigger pool. You know, Lenor Sers has to show me a ton, but I’m I’m going to be honest. I think Lenora Sellers might come out of here as the best quarterback in the draft. I do. Like he’s got so much power in his arm. He’s got great athleticism. I just to me that’s a stud. That’s a guy that you go out and get. Um and then Drew Aller I think has the total package and plays in the Big 10 and plays at Penn State which gets everybody excited but you got to prove that you could win some really big games and perform really well in those really big games. So those are the names I’m watching. What they have to prove to me is all different. But they just got to look consistent. They got to look good. If you look really bad in the in college football, you aren’t going to go very high. But you don’t have to look unbelievable. You just got to look consistent. You got to look like you know how to play football and that you have the physicals that you need to bring to to bring your game to the NFL level because NFL coaches look at it very simply and say you’re going to learn so much more once you get here. You’re going to be a totally different player. You’re going to have so many more resources. We’re going to know how to train you for the NFL better than anything you’ll do in college. So, they just look at it at the quarterback position and say, “Who’s got the best skill set? Who’s got the best potential? Who’s got the head already on his shoulders to be able to read a defense so that we could teach them just how to react to a defense faster? That’s what that’s what I need. Consistency. If these guys look consistent, I think there’s a shot the Steelers go all in on on at least one of them. But those would be the big three names that I’d be watching for Pittsburgh right now. Other names will arise, but I I like those three and I think the Steelers like those three and I think when it’s all said and done, they’re going to hit that sweet spot of the back half of the top 10 early teens where the Steelers can go and make a move for him for sure. All right, we’re going to finish it up with one more. What is up, Noah Strabine? This is Cole Sloan. I’m calling in today to uh give a shout out to Nate Moore who got his TJ Watt jersey. Funny story, I won an auction for an autographed Mason Rudolph jersey. Yikes. Literally the day before Rogers signed, so I’m pretty happy about that. Um and I still believe still believe in Mason. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. For sure. you know, Stephen or uh hurt in practice. Yes, sir. Said that uh we should give just tell people that DJ Oh, you know, I’m sorry. I’m having a hard time with words this morning myself, dude. Every day of my life. Every day of my life. I think that we should tell TJ that tell everybody that TJ is not uh available for trade. I mean, it’s that simple. Or like everybody else said uh in the chat, you know, let’s just ask for their best players, you know, um they’ll get the idea, but also maybe TJ will realize that he just doesn’t have an option but to play for the Steelers in 25. Um, and then of course if they ever did the franchise tag, um, he’s not young enough to sit out a year like Levian did and and just lose out on that money. Um, plus he’s losing out on a lot more money than Levon did. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, Noah, the other day you totally dissed Van Jefferson like on Monday. You you destroyed him. Did he mess around with your wife or something? Oh my god, I was rolling. Uh, Van was a good guy. Uh, long live the picnic pack away. Cole Cole Slaw is my real first and last name. My parents were messed up and they really love Brothers. Uh, I hope that’s so true. I hope I I hope that’s true. I hope that is so true. Like I really hope that your name is Cole Slav. Fantastic. Um, look, Van was a good dude, man. I just don’t think that Van was, you know, I don’t I I like Van Jefferson as a person, but I at no point during his Pittsburgh Steelers career thought Van Jefferson was capable of being a starting wide receiver. At no point. And that just their plan for it was ridiculous. And it made no sense. And it showed itself all year long. the TJ thing. I don’t think TJ would sit out. He wants to be a Steeler. He wants to get a deal done. These are all things that remain with TJ. He’s pissed. You know, he wants negotiations to go better. He wants a massive contract. I understand all that, but I also get TJ wants to be a Pittsburgh Steeler and the Pittsburgh Steelers want TJ to be here. So, at the end of the day, I think it’s all going to work out. I truly do. I just It’s just going to get rough in the meantime. It is rough in the meantime. And let’s be even more honest here. Since the the whole peace, I’m out deuces thing. TJ hasn’t done or said anything. And even before that, TJ hasn’t done or said anything. The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t done or said anything. It’s just all reports. It’s all speculation. It’s all July 9th and people are freaking out because there’s nothing else to talk about. Everybody wants a deal done. Well, in a normal offseason, TJ wouldn’t be getting a deal right now anyways. He wouldn’t. Just like Micah’s not getting a deal. Just like Trey Hendrickson’s not getting a deal. It’s just that time of year. Things are quiet. The NFL’s on vacation. I’m not real worried about it yet. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be growing concerns and then at the end of August, I’ll be concerned. But until then, I’m not. And every time I talk to somebody, the concern dampens because everybody tells me things are going to be just fine, that it’s going to work out, that TJ’s going to get this massive deal. There’s just stuff to talk about. There’s there’s two sides to this and both sides you understand it and you get it, but I think the Steelers are going to pay TJ Watt. I don’t think it’s he’s going to get traded and I think if a team called they’d say you better take that third round pick and throw it as far as you can because it ain’t coming to Pittsburgh. It ain’t coming to Pittsburgh. I just don’t think the Steelers would ever trade TJ Watt. I don’t I truly believe that and we’ll see how this ends. But right now where we stand, I’m not worried. I’m I’m tempered because I think TJ deserves a contract and for some reason we’re talking as if he’s not going to get one, but I don’t think TJ’s not going to end up with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hey, all Steelers talk again and I just wanted to apologize for a horrible phone call. I didn’t have my coffee yet and the brain wasn’t working. Uh, I don’t even know. I wanted to give a shout out uh to again the picnic pack macaroni salad potato salad. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Salad chef s ham sandwich. Um, I wanted to give a shout out to Jay. I hope you’re doing okay today. Um, and uh, shout out to Maddie. Uh, I think it’s funny that uh she got called out for having all these questions. Um, but hey, you know, um, Matty’s the bomb, dude. Maddy’s the bomb. Take it easy. What a way to end it. There it is. Shout out to everybody, man. Shout out to Kle Salad. Kle Salad. Who am I? What am I even doing? God I can't hear about watt no more he's gonna sign lets drop it
The Steelers don’t need all pros at all positions to be a threat to any team this season!
Whether they sign TJ or not, he signed for one more year. We’re in a one year window for a Super Bowl supposedly after that it’s a rebuild so it comes down to the Steelers wanting to keep him long-term for legacy because after this year, what’s the difference?
Trade his ass today!!!!!! He’s not a team player, he’s a me guy!!!!! Never won a playoff game and doesn’t care if he does or not. Let him be a loser just like Myles Garrett, he just cares about making more than him. Get him tf out of here, we never won a damn thing with him!!!!!
If TJ is being a greedy Prick then Hell Yeah they'll trade his ass.
A Greedy Prick
DON'T CARE about sack records… Only care about the team winning Super Bowls!!
No playoff wins with him so trade him for a WR!
Nobody knows about Drew Allar because he never had an NFL caliber receiver to throw to. Highest drafted WR he played with in 2 years starting a 5th rounder. For God sakes in the playoff game he didn’t even have a TARGET at WR until late 3rd quarter BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T get open!!!
I say trade him if they get at least one first round pick , if not then a starting wideout from commanders in even swap
People are in their feelings about TJ. If you think you’re going to like paying him the money he want 4-5 years from now, you’re delusional. It would be a mistake to extend his contract, it will not age well…. Casuals are not thinking about the long term effects.
$41 million is a lot of money now, and whatever amount of years you want to include after. I get that teams make huge amounts of money and that players deserve to get paid, but $41 million is a lot of money at any given time.
Love ya brother but you need a better intro
The last contract he signed 1 week before the season opener and had his best season
Franchise Tag finish contract 2026 leave if you want TJ WATT
Fun facts: Nick Herbig, via ChatGTP:
(Only) Played 416 defensive snaps (82nd percentile). In those snaps:
Pass‑Rush Grade: 91.8 — 3rd best among 211 edge defenders.
Overall Grade: 81.9, ranking 16th among 211 edge defenders .
Achieved a 19.6% pass-rush win rate — highest among Steelers and 7th overall among qualifying edge defenders.
Tied for 4th-most forced fumbles in the NFL with four.
Produced multiple “elite” individual game grades (90+) according to PFF.
He does have to work on run defense. But…
I want to see TJ signed. But…
Watt is injured too much for that much money. Especially guaranteed money. Just think 30-35 million a year isn't enough for this man. He wants to be the highest paid non QB. What a diva
He’s starting to get hurt more seems like he’s trying to cover him self
Steelers could hold TJ up for two years, not signing him to an extension, and franchise tag him next year by then he’ll be 33 years old.Don’t think this will happen but Steelers do have some leverage ,sure hope both sides come to a fair deal.
greenbay offers 1st 2026 2nd 2027 luke van ness & romeo dobbs for tj watt
who says no.??
I think we should trade him. We have other pass rushers on the team. Pittsburgh has always developed 2 positions: wide receivers and outside linebackers. I'm not worried.
Tomlin is ONLY worried about a 500 season. Can't fire a DEI hire.
I can see him wanting to play for the Texans just like his brother
Jack Sawyer is gonna be just like him if not better we got a good defense the only way I will get rid of TJ is for first round pick or number one receiver
If we get rid of tj, I literally don't know what i will think….
We need TJ for just more than his play. Its what he brings to the team. His aura makes everyone around him want to play harder.
TJ Watt was dominanted in the last 5 games being blocked by single man!
I've said before not giving him 40 mil a year. if they don't expect us to win this year. That's ALL I've heard from the media. i keep hearing his value is going down. That we can't get a 1st round pick for him. yet we're supposed to shell out that type of money, just because. We've already made him the highest paid once already. And say he signs and then Parsons will sign for more. So why are we playing this game. if we're building for the future that money will be needed. Time for Home discount or move on… he's not winning us a championship this year. The league has to learn it takes a team. Not just one player..
Steelers youtubers fn suck lol
Don’t less these bad callers drag on so long get to the point.
Some of these Fans are delusional…
Even with tj watt. We arent winning a superbowl lol. Our offense needs to score and its about the same as last year. Lol. We have dk and no good number 2. Should of kept pickens and maybe we would of had a chance. Score 1 td a game wont cut it
Doesn't matter… we won't win any super bowls with the current coaching staff, including Mike.
Apparently the entire show should’ve been about the guy calling in. My God, a 10 minute rant???
Your 2nd call the guy said TJ Watt didn’t much the end of last season. Then immediately says he was always double or triple teamed. Thats doing so much to have one outside linebacker take out 2-3 players a play is massive that’s suppose to be your DT doing that
