Marlins vs. Reds Game Highlights (7/8/25) | MLB Highlights
Reds are trying to snap a three-game slide. Marlins have won a franchise record 10 straight on the road. Nick Martinez, born and raised in Miami. He has had great success against his hometown team in his big league career. Yeah, Nick’s numbers in his career against the Marlins. You said great success. I would say 4-0 with the 138 is pretty good. He swung through strike three and he is down on strikes, one away. One down for Jesus Sanchez. Chopped to first. Backhanded by Steer. There’s the bag for the out. Two-way. Now again, a right-handed batter. This is Otto Lopez. The two-2. Lopez sends a fly ball. Well hit right field going back on it to right fielder Benson. And right as he reaches the track, he’ll run it down and make the catch to put it away for the final out of a one two three first. We go to the bottom of the first inning. Red’s coming up. Yuri Paris, 22-year-old right-hander is making his sixth start since returning from Tommy John surgery last month. He’s a foul tip held on to by the catcher Ramirez and that is a punch out on guess what the four seam fast. Fredo goes down swinging and there’s one away for Yuri Perez. Now Matt Mlan will stand in. First pitch in the air to left field. Ster fading back and that is good. He snaps it for 18 with a first inning. Big fly. It’s one- nothing Reds. That’s doubledigit dingers for Matt Mlean. The Reds dugout is loving it. You could hear them cheering all the way upstairs and they are showing love here to Andrew Abbott. I wonder what that means. Yeah, man. They’re giving him some love. He must be an allstar. Look at the smile on his face. Now, that’s not official. We don’t know that. There’s an assumption now. Ellie de la Cruz. This is in the air to right center. Myers is calling off Sanchez. He’s got it. And there’s two away. Ellie de la Cruz is the second out here in the first inning. And now Austin Hayes. 3-2 pitch is cut on and missed. A 99 mph fast ball. Yuri claps his hand into his red leather glove and he is out of the inning. It’ll be Augustine Ramirez lead it off for Miami. Hard ground ball, smooth back hand settled by Marte and he makes the throw. A really good play right here. Noelvie Marte taking his time, setting his feet, getting himself in position to throw the ball across the diamond. Well done. Swing and a miss. He struck him out. Down on strikes, Kyle’s Towers. Two away and now Connor Norby standing in. Swings the first offering and sends a lazy fly into short center field. Fredles in. He’ll get there and he makes the catch for the final out of a 123 Marlin second. Gavin Lux, the former Dodger, leads things off for the Reds here in the second. There’s a swing and a miss. One away here in the second. There’s one away. Brings up Spencer Steer. One-on-one one hit high in the air. Shallow left field. Kyle Sters underneath. Slight breeze might have pushed that back a little bit and he makes the catch the second out of the inning. Now Will Benson. That one hit a mile high in the air right center field. Meyers and Sanchez converging and Sanchez calling for it. He makes the catch about a foot shy of the warning track to end the inning. A walk in a single to start the third for the Marlins and that’ll bring to the plate Dane Meyers. Here’s the 01 pitch and that is lined up the middle and a base hit for Dane Meyers. Hicks is around third. He’ll score. Hernandez is on his way to third. And we’re tied at one. 21st run batted into the season for Dane Meyers. And the Marlins making Nick Martinez pay for the leadoff walk here in the third. Marlins now poised to take the lead. They’ve got him at first and third with nobody out. And here’s Edwards. Runner takes off. And a throw down to second base is not in time. Dave Myers with a stolen base. His 14th of the season. Now nobody out. The infield’s going to stay back. They’re going to give up that run. Count now full and the 3-2 pitch. That is hit in the air to right field fairly deep. Benson’s going back. Turns around looking up and it’s off the wall. That’ll play a pair. Edwards is in it second with a two-run double. The Marlins have played it three runs here in the third and they’ve got themselves a 3-1 lead. And here is Asus Sanchez. Two broken bat flare up the middle into center field. Ricocheted off the leather of Da Cruz. Edwards will score. Four runs have scored for the Marlins here in the third. There’s still nobody out in the 30th RBI of the season for Jesus Sanchez. Here’s Otto Lopez and he rips Swan left side threw in a base hit after the walk. Now five consecutive hits, four singles for the Marlins. Wow. And here comes the Red’s killer, Augustine Ramirez. Pitch to Ramirez. Chopped the third. It’s a high one over the head of Marte. Rounding third, easily scoring as Sanchez. Lopez over to third and Augustine pulls in a second with a double. His 17th double of the year. The Bluebirds are coming here in Cincinnati. A fiveun inning for Miami. And still nobody out. This is unraveled on Nick Martinez in stunning fashion. Two extra base hits and four singles. Here is Sters and he flies one in the air deep to right field. Benson’s going back onto the warning track. He’s at the wall. He makes the catch. It’s the first out of the inning. Lopez will tag and score from third. Going from second to third is Augustine Ramirez. And it’s 6 to1 Miami on a sack fly. Norby better be ready to hit right now. 22 is flown in the air to right center field. Benson is ranging over. He’s got it. Ramirez will tag and score from third. 7 to1 Miami on a sack fly by Norvy. His 25th RBI of the season. And one man away. This is a big inning right now for Yuri Perez because a zero here would feel like something adjacent to a back breaker for Cincinnati tonight. 02 pitch swing and a miss. He went after the slider and that was tempting. It looked like a strike and then it broke away and that is strikeout number four. That’ll bring TJ Fredle to the plate with two down. Grounded just fair inside of first. Ball kid had to hop out of the way. Fredle rips around first. Digs for second. Throw from Sanchez is offline. Head first plunge and a just fair double for Breedle. Matt Mlan homerred first pitches last time. He’s at the belt delivering the O2. Breaking ball. He got him. Beautiful sweeper for the strike out. His fifth after three. Marlin seven Reds one. Ellie a fly out to center field. His first time up into that long wind up. Here’s the payoff pitch swing and a foul tip grabbed by Ramirez for the strikeout. And that is the sixth strikeout for Yori Perez. Austin Hayes stands in right-handed hitter. There’s a swing and a miss on a slider. That is three consecutive strikeouts for Yuri in his fourth in his last five reds that he’s faced. He’s got six tonight. Gavin, he struck out on a slider in the second inning. Swinging a miss. He got him on the slider. Strikeout number eight. He strikes out the side. Four consecutive strikeouts for Yori Perez. So the bases are loaded. Nobody out in the sixth. Terry Francona starts to make his way out of the Red’s dugout to the mound and with him he’ll bring a hook. So it’s up to Scott Barlo to get the Reds out of the bases loaded pickle. He’s inherited 14 runners this year. He has stranded a dozen. Fernandez. Eric Berto watching all the way and it misses low ball four and Barlo has come on and walked in a run and now it’s eight to one Miami. Three walks in the inning. This is getting ugly. Here’s Dayton Myers. He’s one for two with an RBI. Waiting on an 01. And he grounds it up the middle. Da Cruz has got it. He takes it to the bag at second. Throws it to first. No RBI. Double play turned. Another run scores. And now it’s nine to one. And here comes Xavier Edwards. This is lined into left field and down for a base hit for Xavier Edwards to make it 10 to one. And Xavier with his third run batted into the ball game. You know that Tito doesn’t want to have to burn up another arm here. Stevenson will go to the plate now. Jos Trevinho is going to go out to the mound. Aces are loaded. One, two. That one flicked out to right field. Pretty deep. That’ll be deep enough. Will Benson has it, but that is a productive out. Norby tags and scores from third base. Sacrifice fly for Dane Meyers. It’s 11 to1 fish in the top of the eighth. Two. Augustine laces one out to left and deep. That is back. That is off the top of the wall. The left fielder Lux picks it up and tosses it back in. Augustine’s got a double again. It’s going to count the same when his head hits the pillow tonight. Lead off two bagger against the position player Trevinho. Runner at second with nobody out. Here is Kyle Sters. That one lined over the jumping glove of the short stop Mlan into left center field. That is a base hit. They’re going to get Sters an RBI. Augustine around third. He comes in to score. All Stowers with his second RBI today and he is in the hit column. of an RBI single. 12-1 Fish in the top of the ninth. Up to third base is Lux. He’ll be held there on the single to right by Trevinho. The Reds have loaded the bases. Now Noel Varte, who’s a lifetime 364 hitter with the bases loaded, 0 for three tonight. Grounded to third, booted by Norby. And the Reds get a run. Lux scores. Hot shot to the hot corner. It’s 122. E5. No RBI. So mound visit top of the order. Connor Joe. Joe’s lone plate appearance came in the eighth. He struck out looking on a payoff. First pitch to him. That one a roller over to short. This should do it. Otto flips to the covering Senoha at second. A six to four fielders choice. All fish tonight and make it 11 in a row on the road. That extends the franchise record. Final score in Cincinnati, the Marlins 12, the Reds
