#DallasCowboys Fish at 6 LIVE Report! Top 10 Takes from Frisco!
Fish at six with a top 10 takes on your Dallas Cowboys, including that trade that everybody wants to happen except the other 31 teams. I’m Mike Fischer, your trusty and trusty reporter. This is the Fishbowl. 75,000 fish heads in Cowboy Nation. I watch film. I don’t, but you can get the shirt in the Uncle Fish store below. You watch film, many of you. and you’re here to tell me uh to get my head screwed on tighter and I’m here to listen. Get in, get on, be good. Bring something of sports intellect to the table. Only five slappies allowed per program. Give me, you know, a little elbow room tonight and I’ll give you top 10 fish takes on everything that’s going on in the Cowboys world. And away we go. Item one, let’s trade Scoon. Let’s do it. There’s the six bongs on the wall, by the way, for those of you who enjoy. Let’s totally do it. Love the hat, Fish. I know. There’s the cowboyscountry.com hat. You’ve gone there today, haven’t you? Haven’t you, Steve, Joey, Stephen, Randy, Ad, Dustin, John, Sandra? Cowboyscountry.com. We need you there. We’d also love to see you at the first annual Cowboys Fishfest. And this the first annual in this style because it’s fish heads and it’s obviously we’ve had our gets get togethers before, but this promises to be quite something. The weekend of October 12th, Cowboys are at Carolina and will be at the Maverick Bar in DFW. Come join us. Get more information as we go. Scooty has gotten beaten out for the number two tight end job. That can change, but Spanford sir is bigger and stronger and faster and catches the ball better and run routs better and he’s better. Second year UDFA. Does it mean that Sconey is the dreaded bust? We’re getting there. Um, but he’s only halfway through his contract. You do need more than two bodies to play tight end. And then there’s this and all these stories and all these ideas because I’m not bashing the media tonight too much. All these concepts. Forget about Oh, speaking of smashing AD, how about we smash the like button? Yeah. There’s going to be between 10,000 and I don’t know 75,000 people who watch this video in the next 48 hours or so. So, uh, why don’t you smash the like button, please? And thank you. Who wants him? And I don’t mean that. I don’t mean to insult Sconey. Nice kid who wants to trade for him. Hey, uh, Patriots, Falcons, Chiefs, how would you like our third tight end? Well, what’s he done? Well, nothing. Why don’t you like him? Well, he’s just he’s just not very good. Well, then why do I want him? So, at some point, if if it gets to the point where you’re going to cut your extra tight end, and they’ve got some bodies here at the end of August, you can call around and say, “Hey, Chiefs, I see you had a tight end injury. You want our guy?” And and if you’re giving up on him at that time, you get a seventh round pick for him. But right now, nothing personal against Sconey. He’s just a guy. And the number one reason that you’re not trading Sconey is because nobody wants him. So, you might as well continue to develop him. Big guy, smart guy, good guy. It’s not like a horrible embarrassment that somebody’s better than him. Hey, if you reddrafted everything now, Revan Span Fud, sir, would get drafted, but nobody at this point wants your backup, backup, backup, backup, backup, backup. Item two, um, a lot of conversation about Dak being on the hot seat, and it’s true in this sense. By the way, David Uncle Fish Premium, hey, how do I get the circle in the star? Ask the fellas. I’ll show you how. They reached in those drafts. They reached for the tight end. They reached for the nose tackle. There’s no question about it. They drafted position. They And look what’s happened. Dak is not on the hot seat in any way more than any other high-profile, highly paid quarterback who hasn’t won big. He’s the same. Yeah. Reed says, “Forget hot seat. He’s on easy street financially. Now, is there pressure that goes with making $60 million? Of course. But you wouldn’t there pressure when you make 40? And by the way, now all these guys make everybody makes 53. So there’s pressure on the guy who makes 60, but not on the guy who makes 55. Patrick Mahomes Mahomes has a drawer full of them. You don’t think he feels pressure? He’s paid well, too. Expectations are high with Kansas City. Josh Allen’s never won one pressure. So, we can debate it. And it’s it’s all about your makeup. Hey, I make $55 million. My my my pressure is done, man. I made it. And if you’re cut from that cloth, you don’t belong here. There’s no indication that Dak Prescott is cut from that cloth. Patrick Mahomes isn’t. Patrick Mahomes isn’t. Josh Allen isn’t. Joe Burrow isn’t. Lamar Jackson isn’t. Now, I just put I don’t mean to put Dak in that category of guys. I I recognize you’re kind of afraid he’s more of a Tua than he is a Burough. I get it. just and I’m not I’m not saying Burough doesn’t put in the time. I’m saying I think we’re I think we’ve seen I think it’s established. Tua is a limited guy. We’ll see about Brock Party. Um we talk about the lightning rod of Dak. How many people were way over here on him and how many people way over Brock Party’s got a little of that. Especially now that he too is what’s he he’s $55 million. So if if if the quarterback if the player thinks I just made the money that takes the pressure off, he’s the wrong guy. If he thinks I made a lot of money now there’s more pressure, he’s also the wrong guy because the pressure should be the same all along. And the pressure should be motivating. There is no Dak hot seat as it relates to his job security contractually or talent-wise until after two more years. Two more years and then we can then we can have a different debate. Okay, Dad. Now you’re 34 and you still haven’t done anything. Now what are we going to do? Different debate and believe me, we’ll have it at that time. Item three, I mentioned this the other day. Um I knew it was going to get worse. I won’t spend a lot of time on it. Uh it’s about he who shall not be named. Not only is Skip Bis at least in the trailer uh momentarily in uh the Jerry Jones America’s Team documentary, he has now announced that he’s in it a lot. There’s no way he can know that. Of course, it’s not finished. He’s also announced that as it it seems to him that his three horrific, nasty, lieinfested books about the Dallas Cowboys are the blueprint for the show. And he’s a liar. it his interviews that the interviews they did with him they asked him about his work. He has decided to tell the world that the whole project is about his work and I don’t have the answers for this. Why would I I have questions. Why would Netflix get in bed with this guy who the last time he tried to get in bed with somebody, he offered him $1.5 million allegedly and now it’s a sexual harassment suit? I don’t know. Why would the Cowboys go for this? this person who wrote a book in which he called Troy Aman gay racist and throwing games. Kurt S. Burrow was a number one overall pick. Dax’s a fourthrounder. Tough That doesn’t matter anymore. You kidding me? That doesn’t matter anymore. You know, we do this game. All the coaches do it. They go, “Hey, it doesn’t matter where you come from. Just matters where you’re going.” But now a Dak defender is going to say, “Well, come on. Get off his back. There’s only no no you, Dak.” And he knows this, Dak. You are now the demand is on you to be Burrow, to be Allen, to be Momes, to be Lamar. I don’t care where you got drafted. You kidding me? ESPN did a survey. Top three. I think they did a top group every position. Top three edge rushers. Yeah, that’s a good point. Thank you. Uh Kurt S. Burrow’s better. Of course he’s better. Oh, Burrow’s better than Dak Prescott. That’s not the debate. The debate goes back to what MP is saying. Romo wasn’t even drafted and therefore there should be no expectations. They they it’s okay if they go 0 for 17 0 for 16 since since Roma was a quarterback and he never got drafted. Steve Fish, your book is 10 times better than anything that Skip can write. Um I just know mine’s factual. Do I think my my coverage of the Cowboys is better than him? Of course I do. But mine’s not infested with lies. That’s all. Well, in this Skip Bis doesn’t know whether or not a football is stuffed or pumped up. Seriously, they know two doesn’t know three things about football. Every single person on here, every single one of you knows more about the Cowboys in football than he does. And I’m not kidding. Top three edge rushers. Miles, that’s fine. TJ Watt and then Micah after last year. TJ Watt. Micah top three. We’ll take it. Speaking of uh Micah Parsons, he is back to that bit. He’s talking about shaving his head and uh and and uh some of the other fell I think it was Diggs that said, “Yo, you’re like you’ll be like Michael Jordan. Shave your head.” First of all, a quick reflection on Michael Jordan. Has there ever been any athlete ever and maybe it’s a short list of people in the public eye who are in his class who created fashion meme slogans? Is there anybody close to Michael Jordan? Before Michael Jordan came along, it wasn’t good to be bald. baggy pants, be like Mike, the iconic logo, on and on and on. I’m not sure who the first guy to have cigars in a winning locker room was, but he he made it a thing and on. Oh, and by the way, he’s, you know, like, you know, the greatest. Uh Reed points out baggy pants first was Fab Five. True. But Michael Jordan lit it on fire, did he not? I’m not saying Michael Jordan did everything first. I’m saying like he wasn’t the first bald guy. I’m just I’m saying everything he did became a thing and still is. I will say this, you have to be a handsome man to be youngish and bald. Old and bald, nobody cares. But don’t be ug don’t be ugly and shave your head. Luckily, Michael Parsons and I’m straight, but Michael Parsons is a dashingly handsome young man. Brian Cusack, uh Jimmy Johnson asked Fish for a signed copy of Stars and Strife. That’s true. I bet he didn’t ask Skip for the same thing. That’s true. That’s really true. Um item six. Uh there’s a statistical movement and listen first of all I’m terrible at math but I appreciate you know advanced stats it’s just stats. Advanced stats is just math and it starts with keeping score. So I don’t I I don’t I don’t hate them like a lot of old coots do. I I get it. But uh there’s a project out there that’s using advanced stats to say that Saquon Barkley this year is doomed really. And part of their argument is historically 37% go down the second year and off. And part of what they’re trying to argue is that once you rush for 2,000 yards, you go down the next year. Well, of course you do because 2,000 yards is hard. That didn’t make So So let’s do it this way. Cowboy centric. He doesn’t rush for 2,000 yards. Saquon in Philadelphia, he rushes for,400. He’s If Saquon Barkley rushes for 1400 yards and I don’t know 12 touchdowns, he’s going to be first team all pro again. But he will have he will have been doomed. He had 600 fewer rushing yards. By the way, it doesn’t count the fact of receiving yards. Doesn’t count if he comes out of games because they’re ahead 40 to nothing. Come on, people. Let let’s hand it to him. A healthy Saquon Barkley. Reed, you’re missing the point. Unless you’re arguing with somebody else, you don’t have you you don’t have backto-back 2,000 yards because it’s so hard to do it once and to some degree almost flukish the way it would have to come together. That’s like saying once an astronaut lands on the moon, I’ll tell you what, I’m going to bet it. I bet you he doesn’t do that a bunch more times. Of course he won’t. That’s not how it works. Item seven. Um, almost anybody that you ask that you take seriously is looking at the Cowboys running back group and ranking them way down there. like 32nd MP. That’s correct. That’s my point. You can r if he rushes for 2,000 yards in one season and rushes for,500 yards in the next season, he makes all pro both seasons. Right. And I’ll just say this about being ranked 22nd. First of all, somebody’s got to be. I mean, whatever. And I’m not even going to argue against it. I don’t know. I don’t know what the, you know, what’s going to happen to the Vikings running back room. I don’t know. I think I know what’s going to happen to the Eagles running back room. I think I know what’s going to happen to the Falcons running back room. But I don’t know. So, sure. But how about this? Yeah. Worst running back room in the league. We’re starting running back. The Joneses just hired a head coach who’s an offensive coordinator, an offensive coordinator who’s an offensive line coach, and an offensive line coach who is touted as being the best in the business from college. They poured resources into offensive line coaching. And offensive line coaching better get you something better than the 32nd best running back room, 32nd best running game, 32nd best running productivity, whatever. If this team finishes 32nd for running backs, running back productivity or running game, then the that combo hiring, that triple combo hiring of Shotti and Adams and Riley, that’ll be a bust. Item eight. we seem to uh h have gotten a break. We don’t we we get to slow down now on on why don’t we just trade deck and we’ve illustrated the num the reasons why not and it does not have anything to do with a no trade clause has nothing to do with a trade veto clause has to do with what the Cowboys think of him as a player and it has to do with the financial penalty that you would pay. I did bump into the idea that well there is one circumstance under which you would trade deck like oh no here we go and they had me for a minute what if you get to the trade deadline and you stink and for just a second I’m going well yeah and then I’m like no you salary cap you still can’t do it but before I got there before I got to the realization that no no stop you still can’t do it. I guess I I decided and I haven’t picked my I think I put down 10 and seven when we schedule first came out. You know, I don’t have that written in stone and I don’t think you do either. Let’s see some things unfold. Let’s let the cake bake. Um but the idea of trading Dak would mean you are desperately bad at the trade deadline. And the reason that I dismissed it this time, I just don’t think they’re going to be desperately bad. I don’t think they’re going to be anywhere close to desperately bad. I think this team is a play at this early stage, they’re going to get to the trade deadline and still be a trade and and still be a playoff contender. I guess my brain just automatically went there. And I think I’m right. Sugar, everything working out for this video producer. You can see it, you can hear it. Come on, produce it. Jim Law, everything working out. And Jim, by the way, we uh we are we are with you. Uh and uh and the number of you who are on our Discord channel who talk about, hey, I got this going on in my life. I got that going on in my life. We’re with you, Guy. Judge, when Dak is healthy, this team is good every time. A healthy Dak season, huh? Everything’s fine. Everything good. A healthy Dak always means the Cowboys are good. Big Mac, love you, Jim. Love you, Fish. Yeah. Yeah. Item nine. My understanding, and if you’re a Longhorn guy, you can correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think Jayen Blue did kick and punt returns. I don’t think that’s been his thing. He’s so fast. He’s so athletic. I It could be figured out. And yet, you hope it doesn’t have to be. There is no indication that Cavonte Turpin is going to get in serious trouble here for the gun and the pot and the speed. No indication of that, but it does occur to me that we might want to get Jayon Blue, you know, get him get him some reps as a kick and punch returner. Agreed. Agreed. And finally, item 10, a quote from Donovan Easy. He says, “I’ve got an arsenal. I’ve got a deep I’ve got a deep arsenal of moves and that sounds like fun. And you know, in in our brief experience with him, he’s not a braggy guy. I just think he’s talking factually about his toolbox. And I have two things to say about this as it regards Donovan Easy at training camp. One, I can’t wait to see him. Those one-on-one drills, offensive line versus defensive line, those are a blast. Don’t want to don’t like to overreact to them. Those are a blast. Josh Blae $5 pitch in the super chat. Uh Javvante will be retransformed back to his rookie style. Adams and him and Blue can give us a Monty and Gibb style backfield. That’s part of the dream, isn’t it? By the way, Josh B, I got your email and I’m going to work on that idea. Thank you. So, one, man, I want to see the deep arsenal of pass rush moves from Easy. That’s one thing that I look forward to at training camp as it relates to him and his arsenal. The other thing is, and I and he’s got to know this. He’s smart. Donovan, wait till you get to training camp and recognize all the things that you don’t know. Wait till you happen to line up against Tyler Smith thinking that you’re going to use your deep arsenal of moves and watch what happens. And that’s part of the fun, too. Cowboyscountry.com. Hakeem Olajuwon is the best overall NBA player. G's and F's don't come close to his block shots and rebounds. Center's can't come close to his steals and assists.
No one cares about Skip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I watched Michael Irvin's podcast last night. That guy is rather charismatic and was rather enjoyable to listen to in this setting rather than on those sports shows. Can we get some fish heads over there to get him some views. It appears not too many people know he's doing it. Fish, perhaps consider giving his podcast a plug?
You don't watch film. But you COULD have guests on who do if you wanted to. So instead of this being the dead period it could be the drill deep period.
