They chose the wrong Zach, by just about any metric. Not to mention that McKinstry isn’t even a shortstop. Neto should have absolutely have been the choice to replace Pena.

This is how I felt in the 90’s when they would name a replacement OF and it was never Salmon
Sometimes we need to take off our rose colored glasses as Angels fans. I love Neto too but there’s a couple reasons he shouldn’t be an all star.
1. He missed a month of the season.
2. He is an above average hitter, but not elite this year. Shortstop as a whole is pretty weak in the AL this year but he’s comparable to JP Crawford and Gunnar Henderson and Bo Bichette.
3. His defense is pretty bad by multiple metrics this year.
I think short is just super thin for the AL this year and they chose to go with the next best player regardless of position
So he gets rest after playing 13 straight days. Fuck the All Star exhibition aka the Jack off to Ohtani fest.
I was wondering where I heard that name before.
Oh yeah, he came up in the dodgers system and was briefly on that 2020 team, so he got a ring.
He was pretty sub par for a while and bounced around, I’m glad he’s had a break out season.
This dude was a 33rd round draft pick, who made the majors, that alone is impressive, he bounced around and finally put it all together. Good for him.
I love Neto, but maybe next year.
He played himself out of it the last 2 weeks or so
