The New York Yankees played the Oakland Athletics again on June 28, 2025, at Yankee Stadium. Unlike the previous day’s game, the Athletics defeated the Yankees with a score of 7-0.
Oakland’s starting pitcher, JP Sears, had a strong outing, allowing only two hits over 5 2/3 innings. The Athletics’ offense was powered by home runs from Brent Rooker and Nick Kurtz. Rooker hit a solo shot in the fourth inning, ending Clarke Schmidt’s scoreless streak of 28 1/3 innings. Kurtz followed with a three-run homer in the sixth. The Athletics also scored on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Soderstrom and a two-run single by Austin Wynns, which was aided by a throwing error from Yankees center fielder Cody Bellinger.
