MLB LIVE🔴 Cincinnati Reds vs Miami Marlins – Jul 10, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

just about ready to go and towing the slab here. Brady Singer and Singy, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, you can see his whip is a little above the league average. Not bad, but I think in this one he’s going to need to control that a little bit better. try to limit hitters from getting on base. Stay in that wind up instead of the stretch. And when he does allow base runners be able to throw a pitch, he’s going to get a swing and miss, get out of the inning so that a base hit doesn’t do more damage and put his team behind the Aball. Pitch misses outside and that’s ball two. And another ball. And there’s the automatic and a seed into center. That’s a base hit. So a runner aboard to start the inning. Well, patience and discipline paid off right there as he got into an advantage count. That’s about as textbook as it gets. Got his stride and load out of the way early. He stayed inside that ball and squared it up out front. Man, that was like he was in the cage hitting off a TE. So, up next, Jesus Sanchez. That clips the zone and it’s 0 and one. and a base hit. Lead runner to second. So, two on and nobody out. Two consecutive base hits for this team. Kind of a risky pitch coming inside with the breaking ball like that. You have to bury it. Otherwise, it’s not too difficult to get the bat to it like he did that time. Augustine Ramirez now at the plate. First pitch misses. Edwards at second. Sanchez out at first with nobody out. Pitch misses there. Two and 0. Highf fly ball and that one curling foul down the right side on the ground to third. Might be two and he can’t come up with it. Still fires to first and they get him. The misplay made it a bit messy but they clean things up for the out. Let’s take a look at our lineup. A really frustrating showing for them in their last game. Lots of traffic on the bases, but they left a ton of runners on base. Couldn’t cash in their chances. Chris, they had plenty of chances. There’s nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively. They just did a poor job converting in those situations. You have to figure out what’s your plan going to be. Maybe watch some tape from the last game. Make the adjustments. So, if you get those opportunities in this one, you’ve got a much better chance of scoring some runs. That one way outside and one and one. One down, runners at second and third. That one lifted to left. Brings it in. Runner tags from third. Throw is offline and he scores on the board. First, it’s one zip. Oh, that’s a quality at bat right there. You know the situation. You need something in the air and deep enough and that’s exactly what he did. Good pass to the baseball. Kyle Sters the next up for the Marlins and Singi. We already know he’s going to finish the season with a new careerhigh in home runs. It immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Swing and a fly ball well struck left field. Lux makes the grab and that’ll do it. So they pick up a run on two hits. No errors and a man left onto the bottom of the first. It’s the Marlins one. The Reds coming up back here at Great American Ballpark. And on the hill today, Lake Backer. Well, he’s allowing just over one base runner per inning, which is really good, especially for a starter because these hitters get to see you two, three, maybe even four times in a start. So, just shows you how deceptive and how effective his stuff is. We’ll see if it’s that way in this one. We go to the bottom of the first. Stepping in TJ Fidel. Fast ball is outside. One ball. No strike. Let’s go Cincinnati. just missed two ball in the air out towards right center. Sanchez ranging after it and there’s one down. Here’s the lineup for the Reds. This an offense, Chris, that’s having a hard time scoring runs right now. Yeah, sometimes things just aren’t going to click and unfortunately what happens is players press, they try to do a little bit more and they get out of their game. You’ve got to let the game come to you. If you chase it, it’s going to run from you. So, this is a team that just needs to calm down, relax, and understand that they’re going to come out of this line drive. That’s a hit. So, they get a man aboard with a one out single. A late jump. And I think that was the difference on the play boo. It’s not always easy seeing the ball off the bat. Something to improve. Ellie Dea Cruz the next to hit for the Reds. Foul ball there. And the next pitch is way outside. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. And that’s a little bit high. And a foul ball. runner. Yes. Runner takes off. Got him swinging. Throw to second. Out there. And the inning is over. The old strike him out, throw him out to end the inning. trying to force some action on offense, but he was all over it behind the plate. Back here in Cincinnati, digging in, Eric Wagan, Eric Wagaman. Singer back to work. misses off the plate. One and0. That one fouled off. Well, he gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone. I’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again. Swinging a miss at a slider. Clearly was sitting on a fast right there and just ended up out in front of the slider. Hey, you can’t fault him for his commitment. Now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. One away. Connor Norby will hit next. That catches the corner. One out. Base is empty. Slice down the right side. That misses now. One and two. Fly ball down the line. Benson pulls it down. Two down. batting eight center fielder Derek Hill. So digging in Derek Hill. That’s the third and it goes just foul. Next offering is fouled back. That misses the zone and count one and two. Just misses the mark outside the zone. Well, I think he’s trying to get a feel for where that one missed. I mean, it could have gone either way, but he looked a little shocked for a second there. Two outs. Base is empty. Out to short. What a stop. Gathers and throws. Got him. Nice play. This guy’s anticipation is off the charts. Don’t see many shorts stops better than that. Great job to complete the play and end the inning. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom half of inning number two. And now it’s Austin Hayes. And a base hit. So a man on base to start the inning. Didn’t take long to get a result for that at bat. Just a solid swing right there. Caught it out front and lifted into the outfield for the base hit. Those always feel great. And now it’s Gavin Lux. That one the other way. And there’s a base hit. The throw to second. He’s in there. Two consecutive base hits for these guys here. Nice job driving that pitch the other way on the line. You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field, and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did. And he did it perfectly. And that is out of play. The pitch and that one fouled off. First and second, no outs. Bottom half of inning number two. Foul ball still 0 and2. Clearly trying to stay back a little bit longer for that change up as he fells that fast back. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. Hayes on second. Lux at first with no outs. That just misses ball one. That’s good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you get a broken back as you jog back to the dugout. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Five foul balls in this at bat so far. And these two are going headto head. You can see the crowd. They’re starting to get into it a little bit more and more each pitch. Cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. Well, I think he was waiting on the change up right there and he got it. It just drifted too far in on him. I think that pitch is just a little more out over the plate. Probably squares it up, but instead he’s going to have to go take a seat and ready to hit now for Cincinnati. Tyler Stevenson. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. The last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground, but I wouldn’t expect many pitches up in the zone. They’ll be pitching for a double play in this spot in the air right side. Dive in. Gets down. Could the extra bases one runs in and the go ahead run stops at third base. Picks himself up at RBI. There are a lot of nicknames people have attached to hits like that. looper, flare, ducks, snort, lawn dart, etc. But whatever you want to call it, it’s a knock. And those are the ones that’ll make you smile as a hitter just about every time. So, two in scoring position with one out. Benson digs in now. Golden opportunity right here. Jack swing went around. Strike one. There’s the strike. Second and third. One away. Swings. Threw it in. That’s a strikeout. Certainly a strikeout situation right there. The infield playing back and this pitcher has to step up and get the swing and miss. Really nice job of attacking the hitter at the plate. Pretty big two out at bat coming up now. In now for the Reds. Noelv Marte. Late swing fouled off. tied up here in the early going on the ground to short Senoha. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. Runscoring double here for the Reds. All even at one a piece. Back after this on the show. New inning getting started. And now for the Marlins. Javier. Swinging a ground ball and that’s just fouled outside and it’s a ball and a strike. The shorts stop takes a ball. Two in one. That’s a ball. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. That one misses. So a leadoff walk. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. Pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass. to the top of the lineup. Xavier Edwards getting ready to hit. He let off the game with a single and then came around to score. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Check on the runner. He’s safe. The kick and the pitch. Runner goes and that one pulled foul comes up empty. That’s strike two on the ground left side. Six four three but it’s not in time and they just get one. Now it’s the right fielder Jesus Sanchez. One for one with a single so far. Slap the other way. Foul. Edwards at first. One gone. The kick and the pitch. Runner goes. There’s a ball. Throws. Save. That’s a stolen base. Next offering is in for a strike. gets a piece and stays alive. Swings through that one. It’s a strike out. So, the go-ahehead run in scoring position. Ramirez the next to hit. Up and in. And that is ball one. Runner at second. Two down. Highf fly ball lifted into right field. And that is that. Marlins leave one. Score remains tied 1-1. Bottom of the inning. Now here’s the Reds leadoff man, TJ Fredle. TJ Fredo. All right. First pitch just misses. in the air. Right field. Sanchez under this one. One down. Now batting second base. Matt Mlan next to him for the Reds. A single his first time. rips that one to right. Sanchez puts it away for the out number two. Not fooled at all right there. He was clearly all over it, but sometimes you hit it too hard and right at someone. You’re looking for one of those bloop hits to get a knock sometimes. De la Cruz playing up the middle at short. 23 years old and he was born in the Dominican Republic. De la Cruz takes low. Second trip to the plate in this one. And that one fouled off. Two down to swing and a miss. He was late. Strike two. Kelly just threw that fast ball by him. Elevated. And if you’re not looking up in that location, very go. That’s a strike out. And that’ll do it for the inning. Reds go down quietly. Still tied 1-1. Back here at Great American Ballpark. And now the catcher comes up to him, Liam Hicks. First pitch is in the dirt. You know, these Marlins doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him. He’s only given up one run, but the starter’s pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. That’s out to center field. Fredel has this one sized up. Hauls it in for the You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage. And that might be the case today. Now Kyle Sters fly to left his first time. All tied up. Top half of inning number four. That one misses. Ball two. That’s inside. Oh, they have had a hard time scoring in this one. The pitcher out there on the mound wants to keep attacking. Make sure that they don’t get any confidence. One down. Base is empty. Sets him down. looking. Couldn’t pull the trigger on a fast ball at the knees. Wow, that’s a tough call for the hitter, but the pitcher will take that all day long. Not quite in the strike zone, but he found a spot that the umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call. So, hitters are going to have to make an adjustment, but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit him if they can. Now, here is Eric Wagaban. That’s in for a strike. One strike. in the air to left center and that is that and one two three go to Marlins. Score remains deadlocked at one. And we’re back. And here is Austin Hayes. Austin Hayes. And that one fouled off. Well, these Reds, as this game goes on, have to be more disciplined at the plate. So many of their outs have come from weak contact on pitches they’re chasing outside of the strike zone. This ball well hit left center field and that splits the gap around first and hustling for second in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Wasting no time. He’s two for two now on the night and just a triple and home run away from the cycle. Seriously, we’re starting with this already. Here’s the left fielder Gavin Lux. The breaking ball misses outside. And as a pitcher, when the hitters are swinging at everything, you feel no need to challenge inside the zone. You just keep working the corners and expanding that strike zone and beyond, and they just keep eating right out of your hand. Liner base hit. Hayes coming around third. Here’s the throw to the plate, but it’s offline. It’s 2-1. Now that’s a lonely feeling for an outfielder. The read wasn’t great and it really hurts when it cost your team a run. Next for Cincinnati, Spencer Steer. His first at bat was a strike out. Just missed. Lux aboard here at first with nobody out. That one ripped right center field and it one hops the wall headed for the plate. He’ll score. Stringing them together, that’s three hits in a row. Anytime you can drive a ball into the gap the other way, it feels so good. And that’s when you know you’re right where you need to be at the plate. It’s even better when it gets you extra bases. Got to love looking in at your dugout and seeing your teammates fired up. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Here’s the catcher. Tyler Stevenson just missed. One ball. No straight. The next offering misses two balls, no strikes. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation ahead 200. He’s put himself in a really good spot. Close one. Doesn’t get the call and it’s 3 and 0. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Number 66, a lefty looks to be getting himself ready. Quattrell a right-hander loosening up as well. Three 0 down. That one in there across the letters. ball man at second and ball four to a board. Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance. Now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Lake Backer won’t go any further and a decent effort considering he’s normally reliever. Back with the new pitcher in a minute. now pitches for. So, the Marlins go with a new arm. Valente Beezo, he’s been so good against lefties. Well, they didn’t give him anything to hit. And now with runners on first and second, they’ve set up a double play opportunity. So, not a terrible result. First and second, no outs. And ready to hit now for Cincinnati. Will Benson struck out on just three pitches last time. First pitch misses. Swinging a ground ball towards first but foul. Traffic on the bases with two already in to score. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Edwards feeds to second out there. Not in time at first. It’s a fieldielder’s choice. Up next for the Reds. Third down the third base. Noel V Marted out his first time. fought off foul. Still only one out here in the inning. There’s a ball. Swing and a miss as he was late that time. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching upkeep in the dirt. Blocked, but no advance from the runners. double play ball to second. There’s one over to first. I promise you, they’re guys that get a little bit faster when they can smell an RBI. That was a possible inning ending double play. great hustle and he gets rewarded with the RBI because of it. So, back to the top of the Reds lineup in now for the Reds. TJ Fredle. That one inside. And that’s ball one. and that’s outside. Chris, with that distraction and a speedy guy at first, he’s in a favorable hitter’s count. Well, if nothing else, I mean, this is a great spot for a hitter to be in. Swings and blasts one deep to left center and that one hops the wall. Marte on his horse around third. He’ll score easily. Well, when you fall behind in the count, you’ve got to come in at the zone and then guys have a better chance of hitting the ball hard like he did right there. So, runner at second, two down. Now the number two hitter Matt Mlan one for two. That’s a laser base hit and they hold him at third. 90 ft away with two out. Now batting short stop Ellie D. Next for Cincinnati Ellie Dea Cruz who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. Fouled off. He was late. Two on, two outs. That misses and the count is one and one. And a strike on the outside edge. fouls that off to the left and will do it again. Fredel the runner at third. Mlan at first. Two out of the inning. That one missing inside. two foul ball. Another two two upcoming. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. And that is downstairs and it’s three and two. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. And that’ll load the bases. Well, that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat. Saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the wall. Very gritty. Austin Hayes, the next to hit for the Reds. And that’s in there for strike one. Big moment in this game. Two outs, two runners in scoring position and could really break this thing wide open early. The one swinging a foul back that’s out of play. in the dirt. Nice job behind the plate. Keeps the advant going with a foul ball. So, they’re all loaded up with two outs. Careful. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Two outs. goes down looking. So they move out in front after a fourrun outburst. We played four. It’s the Reds five and the Marlins one. Back here in Cincinnati all set for the start of the inning. And at the play for Miami, Connor Norby. It’s interesting. He plays kind of a a power spot defensively, but runs pretty well. So, when you’re looking at that position, you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does. Swing and a miss as he was out front that time. Knocks that one away and will do it again. And I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed, it makes the whole team that much better. All one there. What about him playing another position on defense? One that would require a little more range. Absolutely. And I think if push came to shove where they had to make a a move during a game, it’d surprise a lot of people. You might even be able to put him in center field. And that one is lifted in the air. And he makes the catch. One up, one down. Oh, I think the key, I mean, if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Pill the next to hit, takes outside. The Reds leading by four and we’re at the top of the fifth. Right through there for a strike and it’s fouled away. One down. Base is empty. Swings through that and it’s a strike out. That K is his third of the game. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fasts in that location. Hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. You can do it. Hit in the air left field. Lux gets under it, nabs it, and that is that and welcome back to the ballpark, the left fielder, Gavin L. Gavin L. Beoozo back to work and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. All these Reds putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Out to short. Slings to first and the lead offense set down in their half the fifth. First baseman Spencer Steer. Spencer Steer now at the plate and first offering is fouled off. That’s a strike. Ring him up, says Clyde Washington. That’s a strike out. Two outs, space is empty. And now Tyler Stevenson. Stevenson. And that’s way high. Ball one. Swag and a miss. One ball, one strike. Two down, nobody on. Last half of inning number five. Left field. And makes the play. And that’s out number three. back here at Great American Ballpark. The batter down, Xavier Edwards. Xavier Edwards and first offering is fouled off. You know, these Marlins finding ways to get on base, but they still need help driving them home. They’ve had their chances with runners in scoring position, but nobody’s been able to deliver a big hit in those situations. And a base hit right there. And the leadoff man aboard. Up next for the Marlins right at the play, Jesus Sanchez. Just missed. And you got to give some credit to the other side as well. They’ve been able to get out of a few tough jams, but frustration is mounting for this offense. No doubt. Now, these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game. One-1 now. Fouled off left side. Edwards gets his lead at first with nobody out. That one misses. It’s two and two. Two balls. Two straight. Cincinnati. ground ball left side and it goes just foul. Here’s a 2-2 and they’ll do it again. That’s a little high and it’s three and two. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Line drive. Dela Cruz won at second. How about that double play? Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a clear beauty from start to finish. Two down, base is empty. And now here’s the Marlins DH. Augustine Ramirez for two in this one. Ramirez in his rookie season, 23 years old. And he’s usually a catcher. Today he gets off his legs a bit. He’s the DH on the ground to the left. Zips it across and that is the inning. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. 891 scheduled in the bottom of the sixth. It’s the Reds five and the Marlins one. Bottom of the sixth inning. And now the right fielder, Will Benson. field hauls it in for the owl. Almost a loud start to the inning on that first pitch. Man, he’s going to want that one back. No doubt. Novi. Now it’s going to be Noelv Marte on the ground right side and that’s just foul. right side hard hit steps on first for the out. Now batting the center fielder TJ Fredo. So two down now and here is TJ Fedelincinnati just missed. Nasty back door slider. There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it. So, it’s a good take by him. Smoked on the ground to second and that is the inning. So, they make short work of him there. Seventh inning coming up. It’s the Reds five and the Marlins one. And we’re back top of inning number seven. Now it’s the Marlins catcher Liam Hicks inside. Just missed and it’s one and one. Big at bat right here. He did the team thing. Took until he got a strike. Now he’s got to go to work. Shorten up that swing a little bit. do whatever it takes to get on base. And that one popped in the air left field. Lux settles under it and makes the catch. One away. Now batting left fielder Kyle. Here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. Brady Singer done for the night and he was very good. They’ll be happy with that. No doubt. We’ll be back with a new pitcher in a minute. Now on the bump, Nick Martinez, number 28. Well, he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year, and that’s his first test. This looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup. And now Kyle Sters. All right. That’s in there. That’s strike one. And that’s outside. Pitch misses there. And it’s two and one. That’s down and in. Three in one. Eddie Watkins. Oh, that’s a really good take right there. And that’s just mentally prepared knowing that if it’s not on a team, you’re going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with. Not easy to lay off, but he did an excellent job in that plate appearance. Wagaman at the plate and takes high there. Oh, that two seam fast ball is a great pitch from a right-hander to a right-handed batter. Just really teases the inside part of the plate. Runs in on the hands. Foul ball. You can do it. You can do it. This one lifted in the air left field. Lux makes the grab and there’s two gone. Now batting third baseman Connor Norby. Connor Norby. The next up for the Marlins inside just missed. Sters leads off first with two down to the inning on the ground and foul ball. Two outs and he swings through that one. Back to the mound. He’s got it. Fires over to first. That’s out number three. One left for Miami. They’re down here five to one. Set for the last half of the seventh. And ready to hit now for Cincinnati. Matt Mlan. Mlan. And the first offering a fast ball for a strike and that skips in the dirt. One hit in the air left field. Sters carous it and there’s one down. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. that front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. And a foul ball. Splits the plate. 0 and two. He must have been looking for something else cuz he gave up on that pitch a little early. It was right down Main Street. Probably not going to see this one. Swung on and hit well way back there. Pulls it in on the warning track. Now batting designated hitter. Two out. Base is empty. And now the designated hitter for the Reds, Austin Hayes. And that drops in for a strike. Two down to foul ball. It stays nothing and two. I wouldn’t say the game’s close right now, but it’s not out of reach either. I mean, these pitchers really need to put up a zero on the board just to maintain a little hope. One ball, two strikes. Highf fly ball out towards left field. Going back on this one. Tracks it down for the inning. Back here in Cincinnati, we go to the eighth now. Here is Derek Hill. Martinez back to work. That one finds the zone. It’s 0 and one upstairs. Check swing and he went. Now he’s in a one two hole. That one missed. That misses the zone. And that’s ball three. Swing and a chopper out to short. Throwing the dirt and he can’t come up with it. Now batting short stop Javier. I definitely think the speed down the line played a factor on that throw. He had more time than he thought, but as a fielder, the speed of the game and the speed of the runner sometimes can get in your head. And he just rushed it and failed to make a clean throw. Man at first, nobody out. Now it’s the shortstop, Javier Senoha. He’s 0 for one. First pitch not close. Yes. Squirts away a little bit. One ball, one strike. in the air fairly deep to right field. He’s there. He’s got it. And there’s one away. And now it’s the switch in second base, Xavier Edwards. That clips the corner. Man at first, one away. On the corner for a strike and it’s 0 and two just off the outside part of the plate. Really good take, especially with two strikes. Two balls, two strikes in the dirt. Really great change of speeds. He goes off the off speed to the fast ball and the hitter doesn’t know what’s coming next. Let’s go. And a swing and a line drive into a right field. Benson makes the grab. Two down. Jesus Sanchez. Jesus Sanchez. And first offering is fouled off and ball one and there’s a foul ball. Hill the runner at first with two gone. Cincinnati two and two. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. Two outs. And he couldn’t hold back. He’s rung up on strikes. Marlins leave one. They’re down 5-1. Now pitching back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Anthony Bender. He’s pitching on two days rest. In now for the Reds. Gavin left fielder Gavin L. Just missed. Movement in the bullpen. Number 66 getting ready to go. Foscher getting loose as well. Let’s go to the right side. Wagaman. He steps on the bag. One gone to the bottom of the eighth. Now batting the first baseman, Spencer Steer. Next to hit, Spencer Steer. and a strike of the outside corner at 95. Well, don’t expect too many more high fast balls. This is a good sinker ball pitcher and sometimes they can make mistakes trying to pitch up in the zone. Look for him to stay down around the knees to be effective. Just off the outside edge. That’s a great take. Tried to get him to chase just outside the zone, but he wouldn’t offer. That misses. Two and two. Stays alive. Cam swinging a ground ball up the middle. to first. Two up, two down. Now batting the catcher, Tyler. Two down. Base is empty. Here’s the Reds catcher, Tyler Stevenson. And that one is downstairs. And it’s one and0. And another ball. Just missed. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. And there’s the automatic. top of the zone for a called strike. Got him looking and he didn’t like the call. And one, two, three go the Reds. They lead this one though 51. Now pitching. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Sam Mo. And he’s got a nice lead to work with. So he should come in throwing strikes attacking these hitters. And now the DH Augustine Ramirez for three in this one. And that’s a little bit high. Mole 33 years old and he was a third round pick back in 2013. So a foul ball makes it one and two. Ah, that hit him. And the leadoff man is aboard to start the inning. Liam Hicks the next up for the Marlins. First pitch and that’s in for a strike. Action in the pen down there. Scott Barlo preparing to come on if needed. Santio, a hard throwing right-hander up as well. Nobody out. Runner at first. Right side Benson. that left fielder Kyle Sters. He’s two outs away. And up next for Miami, Kyle Sters fast for a strike. Next offering is fouled back. Swinging a ball hit out towards left center field and that’ll get down for a hit. And now to a board. Not in time. He’s safe now. batting the first base. Here comes the skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Sam Mole is done and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. So the closer summoned from the bullpen, Emilio Pagan. I think closer has to be one of the toughest jobs in baseball and we see a pretty high turnover rate because of it. Every outing seems to be high pressure, this one included. We’ll see if he can wrap up the win and get himself a save. Two on, one out. Eric Wagaban the next up for the Marlins. Pitch misses inside and that’s ball one. Ramirez at third. Sters at first. One gone. And a foul ball. Two on, one out. That’s off the inside corner and it’s two and one. Tough spot right here. A couple runners on. Two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. And now two and two. This one in the air right field. Squeezes it. Runner tagging from third to the plate. Save. It’s 52. There you go. Nice little RBI there. It’s a great bat. Got the job done. Marlins down to their final out. Here’s the third baseman, Connor Norby. 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. One and0. He swings and fouls one off. Pagan is just one strike away. And there’s a ball. That one just misses. Pressure Mountain right here with the tying run in the on deck circle. He’s got to find the strike zone. Foul ball and it remains a full count. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Two outs headed towards the corner and it stays fair coming home. He will score. Love how he became a really tough out with two strikes right there. I don’t know how he’s able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it. That pitch was inside and he let it get really deep. So pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good work. Now a huge bat in this game coming up. Tap foul at the plate. tying run at the plate. Swing and a miss. Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. throw to first in time ball game and the strike out ends it. Well, this was a tightly played game. Got a little of everything. Some timely hitting, runs on the board, key pitching and defense in certain spots. Definitely a fun one to watch. A 53 final score in this one. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show, I’m John Shami. We’ll see you soon. Heat. Heat.
