They are increasing their already ridiculously high price subscription. I watch a lot of games and accepted the price of the product and have had a subscription for years, but with this level of greed, I feel very comfortable sailing the high seas next year.

  1. What do you get for this price?

In finland the package that gets me NHL (its on Viaplay) costs 60 CAD / month.

  2. >I watch a lot of games

Are you watching a lot of the other teams as well? If not, then you’re paying for a more expensive package that you don’t use.

Neither package is really any cheaper than just getting sportsnet and possibly TSN bundled with your cable provider, though I think that’s probably by design

  3. Meanwhile my NordVPN account lets me watching whatever game, for free, $14.99 a month… not to mention all the international Netflix offerings!

  4. Idiots. Someone in an ivory tower has made a calculation that will cost them a ton.

  5. Didn’t Rogers just quietly lay off a tonne of call centre employees and replace them with AI recently?

  6. Cable is still the way to go. You get access to streaming the games on the website and app as well.

  7. They’re increasing it because they’re expecting that less than 1 in 4 subscribers unsubscribe… hopefully this sub’s reaction matches what the majority does

  8. These idiots are ruining their company entirely. It’s not a fucking grocery store monopoly where you can just increase prices to appease shareholders lmao

  9. Yarr, me maties.
If ye be huntin’ fer a pirate’s booty of hockey viewin’, ye best be slidin’ into me DMs.

  10. HOLY SHIT BALLS. That’s an insane increase. Who the fuck increases 30% without even providing any insight to justify it.

  11. I mean they don’t even bother with ‘thanks so much for being a valued subscriber, times are hard, we don’t like to do this but…..’

    Just a massive f*ck you.

  12. Yarr. Be a pirate like a bunch of us 😉

F*** SN and it’s blackout games that force ya to pay ridiculous amounts more for central ice or nhl etc etc

  13. Chat how much does 82 beers cost? It’s gotta be unilaterally cheaper to just go the bar for every game.

  14. I was sooo tempted to get the subscription last year and had almost made up my mind to get one this year…… annnnnnnd….. nope

  15. Thats some garbage. Too bad amazon didn’t buy streaming rights for the nhl.

  16. Cancelled mine too just now … Unacceptable to raise the price that high … they need to come back to earth …!

  17. Yup, got the same message and cancelled my subscription 3 minutes after. For that monthly increase, I can go to the local pub, enjoy a beer or two, eat some grub with friends. So long SN

  18. I’m so glad I live where I can just use nhl.tv

Super cheap for the season, get every game.

  19. They’re trying to lose some subscribers to ease the load on their servers and networks haha

  20. Wtf, so many times these past two seasons where the stream has been unbelievably unreliable, fucking insane they jack up prices that much..

  21. I had already canceled mine due to the amount of gambling/betting built into the shows. Seeing the new pricing, especially glad that I did.

  22. Damn dude I pay $30 a month and I get ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+ and actually use all three so it’s a great deal for me $27 a month just for sports net is crazy

  23. I think consumers need to press the CRTC, big telecom and MPs to break up big telecom and get back to consumer choice. This is stupid

  24. Well espn+ looking not bad now. At least I’m out of market and can watch most games

  25. I got this boilerplate answer from customer service:

“Please note that Sportsnet+ offers the most robust live content of any sports streaming product in Canada.

The new price more accurately reflects this offering, while ensuring the product remains among the most affordable options available in Canada.

This update reflects the value of Sportsnet+ as the most comprehensive live sports streaming experience in Canada while remaining competitively priced with other options in the market.”

So it’s really just “we think we can get you idiots to pay this much because fuck you all”
