Just a quick how quick he is. Quick release. Here’s the one-1 pitch. That’s taken outside with a sweeper now. Two balls in one strike on Allen. Look how good he is defensively. Not only just uh how much he likes the vinyl records and how interesting a guy, he’s also a funny guy right the plate in the 1-1 pitch. That’s hit foul outside third and down the line. And some of the players try to match his quick wit. Big Seinfeld fan knows every line from every Seinfeld episode it’s ever been. And they say can’t do imitations of the characters. He can quote Seinfeld. And he keeps everybody on their toes. The one-two pitch that’s waved at a missed down. He goes on the slider. So Spencer Strider picks up his fourth strikeout. And he’s now retired six of the last seven he has space since the home run by Soders. And here is Miguel Anduhar. And Duhar flyed out to the center fielder Michael Harris the second in the first inning. 0 for one. 294 on the year just off the IIL as the first pitch taken first right. And it’s nothing and one. on Doohart and he rehabbed a few games. The 01 pitch that’s hit foul and it’s nothing in two. I don’t think I mean he’s one of those guys you can just roll out of bed netline drives right yeah tough assignment though facing this guy in your first game back but you’re right he’s a pure hitter on to the count as Strider the leg kick and the 02 pitch that misses inside with the fast ball at 96 one ball and two striding and the A’s missed him when he was out for sure going to get Langalers back and now you get on Duhar back one and two the count’s is getting a three-run homer by Soderstrom in that first inning. We go to the top of the fourth. It’s a three nothing A’s lead. Three runs, two hits for the A’s. No runs, no hits for the Braves as Sears has retired the first nine he has faced. Ronald Akuna Jr. the hitter struck out swinging back in the first inning as Sears delivers the pitch that misses high. One ball and no strikes. 99° at first pitch. That sets a historic temperature. Redken want to know the count. Left-hander delivers is the one pitch. That’s in there for a strike. It’s one and one. That’s correct. They started keeping like official figures a game time temperature according to the A’s back around 1991 and 95 was the previous high, right Mitch? Earlier this year. Yeah. One, but they hit over 100 degrees on the road. I think it was in Kansas City. with a 2-1 pitch to Ronald Akuna Jr. batting from the right side that misses outside. It’s now three and one. 48 pitches for Sears. 31 strikes Junior at Allstar, five hits in his last 25 at bats as John Patrick Sears delivers the 3-1 pitch. That’s hit foul right side of the screen. Pop into the Braves dugout and it’s now 3 and2. The Braves come in with a 40 and 51 record. They’re 13 back in the East. They got off to a horrible start. They’ve been streaky. They retro. They won nine of 12, lost eight of nine, then they lost nine of 11 after winning a bunch in a row. Here’s a 3-2 pit. That’s hit foul out of play. I’m sorry, Johnny. You’re good. Sorry about that. No, the A’s. This is what it says in the A’s game notes. It says game time temperatures are available for all A’s games dating back to 1991. Okay. And the first pitch temperature of 95 earlier this year against the Astros was the warmest for’s home game over that span. Okay, two is swung on and miss. Down he goes on the four seam fast. That’s the fourth strikeout for Sears. He’s retired 10 straight. What a way. And here’s Matt Olsen, the first baseman. But the highest recorded temperature for any A’s home game was 101 for the Kansas City A’s on July 27th of 56 against the Yankees. How about that? The left-hander delivers left on left. Pitch to Olsson. Hit foul left side out of play. 0 and one. Now that we’ve confused everybody, back to the action. Exactly. So that was uh that was in Kansas City 195 municipal stadium in Kansas City. Surprised there wasn’t a hotter one on the turf. Here’s the 01 pitch. That’s hit foul down the left field line. Moving over forward is Sodro. Will he run out of room? He’s in foul territory and he make the play. It’s two. Well, I asked asked Bobby Crosby before the game if he could remember the the hottest day that he can recall when he was playing. Yeah. And he said without hesitation, Kansas City. Wow. Okay. Yeah. Sodestrom just kind of ran out of room over there. 0 and2 the count on Matt Olsen, the former athletic. Olson had 269 on the year. 17 homers, 58 driven in. Here’s the O2 pitch. That slider misses away. One ball and two strikes. Sears peers into wins. There’s the one-two pitch. That’s a foul to the screen left side. Oh, once the shadows take over tonight and the sun goes down, it’s not going to be too bad at all. Just always pleasant sun goes down here. And the one thing that I think has surprised a lot of people just how great the weather is once uh nightfall hits here is the one-two pit. That slider misses the way now. Two balls and two sprite. Two and two on Olsen. Over or walk over? Uh today I actually drove over. There’s a two- two pitch from Sears. That misses outside just off the edge. It’s now three and two. That’s right. You parked right next to me. Yeah. Yeah. You You can’t walk. That That would be quite a walk. Walking to Forson would be quite a trick. Yes, it would. Might take me three or four days for sure. Bring it to the count on Olson. Is the 3-2 pitch from the left-hander. That’s fouled back. Remains at three and two. There was a long at bat. Dirkson Profar fouled off a ton of pitches before finally flying out to the center fielder Denzel Clark. Sears flirting with 60 pitches on the night. In the fourth inning, three nothing. The A’s lead it. Centerfielder Denzel Clark shaded five steps towards left center. Was the 3-2 pitch that swung on and fouled away just to get a piece of it. And he remains at three and two. Ryan Woo no hit the Yankees into the eighth inning. Yeah, seven innings plus was broken up by Jazz Chisum who got the word today. He will be competing in the home run derby for the rosters for the home run derby now complete. Maxy shaded up the middle as the left-hander Sears delivers. Here’s the 3-2 pitch. That is strike three called. Another strike out for Sears. He struck out a Kuna and Olsen four times between them. And that’s five strikeouts for the left-hander of the Citadel. That’s 11 straight retired by Sears. And here’s Austin Riley, the third baseman. Riley grounded out to his opposing number on Duhar, the third baseman in the first inning. 0 for one. What a job by JP Sears as the left-hander delivers in the pitch. The hat’s taken. First right, first pitch change up at the knees and it’s nothing and one on Riley. Riley with a two-run homer in the second inning of the game last night. He was two for five, a double and a homer. He’s the Braves had 11 hits in their 9-2 win. Here’s the 01 pitch. That’s fouled back. No balls in two strikes on Riley. Game over 95 for the Athletics. 17-30 here at their home ballpark. 21 and 26 on the road. The A’s will embark on a 10game road trip after the All-Star break as the left-handed delivers in the O2 pitch to Riley. That’s wind it down the third base line. Fair ball base hit. Pass the diving on Duard. Getting the ball in the corner is Soderstrom into second base with a double is Riley. Austin Riley picks up the two base hit. First hit of the ball game against Sears. Let’s pause while we have a moment for station identification on Acecast. Talk 650 KST in the A’s radio network. That’s 19 doubles now for Austin Riley. And here is Shawn Murphy with a right around second and two outs. Here’s the high set. He checks second and delivers. Here’s the pitch. Murphy takes high. One ball in no strikes with Ken Cororak, Chris Carrey, Chris Towns, and Jessica Kleinman of the Commander, Johnny Dosco with you from the ballpark in West Sacramento. Thanks so much for being with us. He’s trying to win this series. Get some momentum going to that Toronto Blue Jay series which will begin tomorrow night. Left-handers 10 pit. That’s in their first ride with a slider and it’s one and one on Murphy. And the A’s uh making a move today as Bido was recalled from Las Vegas. Mitch Spence was optioned to the Las Vegas club. The 1-1 pit. That’s who just misses inside. Close pit now. Two and one on Murphy. Murphy at 224 on the year. 13 homers driven in 31 runs. Riley takes his lead as Sears checks second. Now the 2-1 pitch that’s in there for Spike. Good pitch inside edge. Perfect spot. Now two and two on a former Ace Casher. Tom Goodwin coaching at first. Freddy Gonzalez over there at third. Two and two the count. Totus now just about in the shade, but Clark and Butler both dealing with the sun as the left-hander I said. He checks second. Now the two- two pitch is swung on. Hit down the left field line. It is a fair ball base hit. Playing the ball in the corner as Sodesttorm Riley comes in to score to throw it to second base. And no, he’s It’s a double. And I think Gellof wants to check it, but the run did score. So an RBI for Murphy, making it 31 A’s. And we’ll see if the A’s take a look at that. He went in standing up. Murphy did trying to evade the tag by Gellof. And you’re right, it was a quick reactions by Sodasim. Then the ball kind of died on the infield and Gellof trying to make a kind of a backhanded bag. So it’s a double for Murphy as he picks up his 32nd RBI of the year. That brings the tying run to home plate in Jurgson profile who really battled with Sears in that first at bat in the second inning before finally flying out to the center field. Clark Sears delivers and the pitch to Proar that misses with a slider and it’s one ball and no strikes. So Sears now getting close to 70 pitches here on the night. We’re in the fourth inning on a warm night. Yeah for Murphy. His eighth double of the year as the one pit that misses low and inside with a four seam fast ball. It’s now two and0. 3-1A’s in the top half of the fourth. It just has not been the Braves here. I mean, they had so many hitters go into slumps in the month of June. They’ve been banged up. Starting pitching, so many injuries. The two pitch that swung on driving to deep left field going back and sod near the track at the wall and this game is tied at three. So, Proar with a two-run homer, making it three to three. It’s his third home run of the year. RBI’s five and six. And just like that, it’s a three-3 ball game. That’s how quickly it can change as Scott Emerson, the pitching coach, going out there to chat with the left-hander JP Sears. This consultation on the mound brought to you by Granite Expo. Grand Slam savings with 10 Northern California locations. Go to graniteexpo.com. And he had retired 11 straight and then Riley doubles, Murphy doubles, Proar homers, 352 ft, 97 miles an hour off the bat. Here’s Marcelo Zuna flyed out to Clark in center field to end the second. One of five homers. as the Braves hit in that game last night. A one pit little dribbler foul toward the dugout and it’s nothing and twoar home run a reminder of it was for their B 80 games sitting out because of the suspension. They had just signed him. Yeah, that really hurt this club. Low and two the count and the 02 pitch. Matt’s little chopper toward the shorts stop making the play as Muny on to first to get the jogging ozuna and the inning is over. But the Braves with three runs on three. It’s a two-run homer from Crowar. Nobody left. We’re through three and a half. It’s the A’s three and the Braves three. Take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following. We didn’t get the Max Muny versus Max Muny match up as the A’s. Maxy was not uh not on the roster when the A’s were mid May taking on the Dodgers. Dodger Stadium. Someone else commented today on on how loud it is at Dodger Stadium. Right-hander comes set as the 3-2 pitch. The runner goes. The pitch is strike three called the throw to second in time to get him. It’s a strike him out throw him out double play and it goes 24 on the caught stealing. Well, Sodstrom is out if the A’s check it and the A’s are not going to check it. Allen trying to make that play to his left. Not an easy play by Andy Deans, but Allen will be the first one to tell. That’s a play he makes. Ball had some spin, too. I think for sure. He just never could find a convenient hop. Kind of back on his heels. See if they score that an error on Allen, but Zack Gellof is now the batter. Got to go hit on that. I would think it would be a hit, but Allen trying to make that play to his left. It is a hit indeed. So, w picks up the hit. And here’s Gellof as Zach takes a strike from the outside edge. Nothing to one. Off struck out in the second inning. You know, you look at the Braves and yeah, they’ve had a ton of injuries and we’ve detailed the situation with their rotation during the series. Four of their starters on the IIL. Of course, Strider started the season late. They have a bunch of guys that are cornerstone players for them. Here’s Harris and he swings just a fly ball center field. Playable. Denzel back. He’s right there and he makes the catch two away. They’re 11 games under 500. Their offense is really scuffled. Aunia is signed through 26 in the midst of an 8-year deal. Matt Olsen is signed through 29. Austin Riley is in the third year of a 10-year deal, which will take him through 32. John Murphy is signed through 28. There’s the delivery. It’s inside. Hobby has signed a seven-year deal, but that will take him just to the end of this year. And Harris in the third year of an eight-year deal. So, this is their club, Nick Allen. And he hits one down the right field line. that’s going to slice and it get down for a hit and Butler over to field it plays it back and Nick a wide turn they throw behind him and he gets back but you can’t blame them because as you and I have said during the series when they take the field you’re looking at their club and you’re thinking this is a pretty good ball club. Yeah, you look at Auno, Olsen, Riley, Murphy, Proofar, Ozuna, right? Looks I mean that’s a on paper. Then of course you sign these guys to long-term deals. You can go through some skids and papers never won anything, right? Ever partner, good point. So here’s Mr. Akunia. Three to three. Two out runner at first. Top of the fifth series throws. Akuna takes outside one and0 for two. Two strikeouts. Two home runs in a walk last night. Leadoff shot off of Mitch Smith. One pitch the outfield deep room in left center. Slightly open stance and the pitch by Sears and that taken low. Although there was Did it call? He did the pitch. He did and Gucci granted him time but Gucci never informed us of that. That was interesting because it we never knew anything and Oh, we’re not getting a whole lot of help from the play. No, Gucci’s got to give us the hand. One ball, no strikes. Now, serious the set. He’s at the chest. He delivers. And that’s the breaking ball for a strike. And it’s one and one. Two out. Base hits down the right field line by Nick Allen. Nick’s third of the series. A Blue Jays tomorrow night. And the Braves will be in St. Louis. JTC Gin is up and throwing in the bullpen for the Athletic. Now the one-1 pitch. Cheers to the plate. Big cut in a miss. It’s one and two. That’s what we’ve been talking about and Steve Sachs talked about it on the pregame show today. The only featuring the long men out of the bullpen specifically especially guys like G and Jack Perkins. Here’s the one two pitch instead of throw it to first. Scott Everson made a good point about that on the pregame show yesterday and I’ve always thought this was fair thing to say. If you have to use three or four or five relievers, you don’t know if all those guys are going to have are going to be on their game that that night or day. Yep. Now, here’s the one-two pitch. AP series to the plate and that’s taken just inside two and two by Aunia. What they’re thinking is if you can get the starter through five or six, then have a long man pitch well, then you set it up for Mason Miller in the ninth. I mean, that’s that’s in theory. Yeah. And I also think, look, I know Spence going down to triple A is going to be a starter, but he could be a long man in the bullpen as well. Be a guy that gives you two or three innings. Two balls, two strikes, two away, tie game, fifth inning. And the pitch by Sears and that’s just slowing outside. Three and two. Close bit now. Allen. He’ll be going. Ronald Lacunia Jr. a couple years ago, one of the greatest seasons of all time, home runs, and the stolen bases, the bright yellow shoes, right on top of the plate, slightly open stance. And Nick Allen, he’s off the 3-2 pitch. He swung on it, popped up, foul straight back. Muno was on the postgame show on Brand television last night and he said that he is fully committed to the home run derby despite missing the game here on Tuesday night with the stiff back. Tons of room in left center and once again with two out. Sears delivers the 3-2. Here it is. Allen running swung on at my bounce ball away at 91. Auna K and Sears gets through the top of the fifth and keeps the ball game side. Halfway through our ball game tonight after four and a half is the A’s and the Braves in a three. The seventh inning brought to you by Hyundai of Makavville. Norcal’s home run. Hyundai store goes to everywhere at I80 and Leisure Town Road. The left-hander Dylan Lee lifting up at the bullpen for the Braves as Spencer Strider delivers inside with a foreseen fast ball. It’s one and one. Four runs, five hits for the Braves. Three runs, five hits for the A’s. Good ball game. Bottom of the seventh inning. Is wearing the Bull Tops tonight with the white pants is Strider. The leg kick and the 1-1 pitch that misses inside with the fast ball and it’s two and one on Gellof. Goff struck out swinging in the second, struck out swinging in the fourth. 0 for two. Ryder closing in on a 100 pitches for the night as the 2-1 pitch to Gellof. That’s swung on a fly ball to right field. Will be backboard. He’s under it. Makes the catch and there is one away. The Striders retired five straight and that will bring up the center fielder Denel Clark. Park has walked and struck out both for one. 11 strikeouts for Spencer Strider. Shider had a 13 strikeout game earlier this year as the pitch in there for a strike on a slider. And it’s nothing and one. They feel comfortable having him go more than 100 pitches tonight, Johnny. They sure do. 11th start after coming off the DL. Here’s the 01 pitch. That’s chased and missed on a slider. And it’s now no balls and two strikes on Clark. That 13 strikeout game came against the Rockies on June 14th. Six innings, three hits, and no runs. One walk was 13 strikeouts. Here’s the O2 pitch. That’s hit on the right side, backhanded by Azie Albby. The second baseman throws to first to get the hustling Clark. And there are two away. And that’s going to be all for the right-handers. So they’re going to bring in the left-hander Dylan Lee to face Lawrence Butler here. Brian Sniter going out there to get Spencer Strider who’s getting a kind of congratulating pats on the back from his teammates. So Spencer Strider will come out two outs, nobody on in the seventh. Now has 11 hits in his last 35 at bats as lead to the plate in the pitch. Tried to hold up but could not. He swings and misses at the slider and Rooker in the hole. It’s now nothing and two. They go on the right side for Brent as Butler being held on over there by Olsen. And now Rooker calls time. L Towny at the break. Braves leading at 43 here in the bottom of the seventh inning. It’s a six walk-off of the year. What a great victory for the Athletics. Oh, this was amazing. I mean, and when it came down to it, you had the lefty lefty match up with Tyler Soderstrom against Bummer. He still went up there and delivered the great big hit that scored this run. So, this is a step up for this team. There’s no question they moved another step forward and trying to get to that ultimate pinnacle of being the best that they can be. They took a big step tonight, Towny. Well, guess who’s getting hot? That’s Tyler Soders. What a game for him. He had the big three-run shot and of course the game winner. Tyler, just take us through it. What that meant for this ball club to get that win for yourself, for your team, and to win the series against the Atlanta Braves. Yeah, it means a lot. You know, Atlanta’s a great team over there, so to come out with a series win is great. and you know, just keep this momentum going. Tyler, how about that lefty lefty match up? I know you’ve done it your whole life. It’s never mattered to you to hit against left-handers, but what’s the mindset coming up there against Bummer? Yeah, you know, you just got to stay in there. Can’t bail out. Got to stay true to the left field. And uh I just tried to see a slider up there and I got it and was able to stay through it up the middle. So, it worked out. You know, Brent Rooker joined us earlier today and he talked about going getting hot going into the All-Star break and then in the second half starting to pile a lot of wins. What’s the conversation been like in the clubhouse about finishing off this first half strong? Yeah, you know, we’re always uh trying to win these games and like you said, you know, trying to stay hot and uh have some momentum going into the all-star break and uh ready to roll for the second half. So, just continue to, you know, learn and just get better as a group. Tyler, we’re watching down there. We’re seeing in the dugout. We don’t see any panic. We see several guys. If it’s not one guy one night, it’s another guy the next night. It’s a grand slam. It’s a big hit. It’s your big hits today. What’s the general overall feeling on this team right now as far as who can get it done? Yeah, you know, I feel like uh one through nine, you know, you see the lineup, all the young guys been there for the last couple weeks, so uh we’re all really confident in each other. Uh we played together for a while now, so one through nine, everyone can get it done. Well, let’s end on this. We talk about the young crew all the time, but we saw there at the very end, them coming up to you after the game, p pouring the uh the ice water on top of you. Just how much fun is it playing with these guys on an everyday basis? and growing with these young guys. Yeah, it’s super fun. Like I said, you know, I’ve played with some of these guys like L from uh since Lowey, so it’s cool to be up here in the big leagues uh sharing these experiences with them. You know, getting my first walk-off hit tonight was super special. Um so something I always dreamed of for sure, Tyler, we appreciate it. Go enjoy it with the guys in the clubhouse. Thanks, Tyler. Thanks, guys. Appreciate it. How about that? A three-run shot earlier in the game, then the walk-off home run. I mean, the walk-off base hit with the three-run home run. A huge night for him. Let’s get to the turning point brought to you by Toyota. And when you think about tonight’s game, so many big things that we can talk about. A lot of big plays and let’s not forget the pitching. I mean, Sterner was fabulous out of the bullpen, but we got to give you the gamewinner. Hey, this is this is beautiful right here. Just what he talked about. I love that mindset kind of eliminating half of the field, the right side, and just being say, as he said, staying true to left left field. Here’s a slider that hung up in the zone. And that’s exactly what major league hitters do, Towny. When you leave a hitter uh like Sodestrom up there with a cement mixing slider that doesn’t break from a left-hander, you ram it right back up his throat down the middle. And that was perfect execution by Tyler. Well, it’s keeping your front side in, isn’t it? Lefty and lefty. Cuz so many times with a lefty, that front side comes out. Next thing you know, you got no power behind. He kept that left side in. He drove it right back up the middle. Hey, pretty good for you for for used to be a pitcher. You You called it exactly right. See it a little bit. I see it a little bit. Exactly. Stay stay that stay tucked on that right side and ram it right back up the middle and it’s perfect execution. Yeah, it’s been a lot of fun to watch Tyler Sodestrom really grow this season. There’s, you know, with these young guys and you went through it, there’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs. Remember, he started so hot and then we didn’t see home runs and now he’s getting hot again. That’s why you wait until you look at especially these young players, the stats at the very end of the year. Let’s see what they do at the end of the year. and he’s just he’s he’s continuing to put up numbers, drive in runs, and he’s getting hot again. You know, it’s so fun to, you know, in a large sense is you talk about these guys have played together for so long, and they’re starting to get to know each other so well, and if it’s not one guy, it’s another. And Sod talked about that tonight. There’s no panic anywhere. These guys are 22, 23 years old. You got a couple guys up there that are busting out at the old age of 30, but my gosh, these guys are still so young. Controllable talent on this team, Towny. They’re going to be together for a long while. This is just the beginning. Yeah, Butler and Gellof are old now. Law with his birthday today. 25 years old. I mean, you’re like old on this ball club now if you’re 25. Let’s get to the River Rock daily jackpot and Brick Brent Rooker going to be going to the All-Star game. We had him on earlier today, Acecast Live. It’s going to mean a lot obviously for him going for the second time. And uh it’s a big day for him, but also how about Nick Curts? How about taking this oppo jack? How about taking this ball that’s way up out of the strike zone? The left-handers aren’t supposed to hit those. Now you know that as a pitcher, those left-handers, you pitch them up in the zone, they’re generally low ball hitters. Look at this ball. It’s out over the plate and it’s way up and he still hits it out. This guy is becoming a scary hitter in the major league. Whoa. 22 years old. Look what he’s already accomplished already. Has the most home runs of any rookie in baseball. He didn’t start the season with the club. And like what you saw there, you saw the home run to left field. How about the walk off against hater to central uh dead central to center field. Then we’ve seen him go huge bombs into the trees in right field. He’s showing you he’s got power to all fields. And you love how he’ll take his base hits to left. He’s really shown he was a complete hitter. He’s uh he is not just, you know, he reminds you he reminds me a lot of Judge because he’s got that light tower power yet he can hit the ball to left field. He doesn’t it just go out there and think, hey, I’m going to pull everything because I’m a big strong guy. No, there’s a lot of hits out there in left central and down that left field line. Tyler Sodstrom has shown him how to do that as well. So, this thing is becoming spread throughout the team and it’s becoming more of a mantra to hit the ball where it’s pitched and do a lot of damage. And this guy’s 66 245. My gosh, he can do a lot of damage anywhere. County. Now, I know Jacob Wilson is the big- time favorite for rookie of the year, and he should be, but watch out for Nick Curts. I mean, we could have a one-two finish. Kurts is going to keep he keeps hitting dingers like this and keeps driving in runs. And he made some good defensive plays today. He shows you just how nimble he is on his feet for a big guy. There’s no doubt. And you talk about not only coming in on the ball on bunt plays and whatnot, but going laterally when he goes to his right on the place of second base, he’s nails. He’s got a good throwing arm. He completes a double play. This guy’s the complete package. And you talk about have we seen a ceiling on this guy yet? Not even close. We don’t even know where that ceiling is yet. Downey. Let’s take a look at the starting pitching from today’s action. And JP Sears one pitch if he could have back really. Five innings end up giving up three runs. Spencer Strider, we know what he is. He’s going to strike out a lot of guys. He actually went deeper in the game than he normally did today. But we talked about earlier in the pre that, you know what, this thing probably will be decided by the bullpen. Yeah. And obviously it was these two guys uh you know obviously like you said Sears had that one pitch that gave up the three runs in that one inning. But overall I thought he pitched a really good game. Strider did was as expected. He’s going to be around 100 pitches. He’s going to strike about 10 guys out and that’s pretty much what he did. Zero walks, six strikeouts just jerks and profar opposite, you know, I guess it wasn’t opposite field. He uh hitting right-handed he pulled it but it was just that was the that was the one pitch if you could have one pitch back. But for the most part, a really good outing for JP Sears and the first time he’s given up any runs in the last three games. So if you kind of average it out what he’s done over the last several starts, it’s still a very very good trend that we see for JP Sears right now. Stay in that mode right now and he’s going to be fine. Yeah, no question. It’s three straight good games, right? He’s streaking this way and we talked about it earlier when when you take the ball 32 times. When you have that kind of consistency, you’re going to ride highs and lows throughout the season. If if you don’t ride lows, you’re probably going to be in the Sai Young conversation. But for anybody who takes the ball 30 plus times a year, there’s going to be some peaks and some valleys. Right now, he’s going to the peak. This guy hasn’t missed a a start in the rotation since August 10th of 2022. So, you know, this guy knows that he’s going to get out there. He’s going to take the ball. And that is great for manager Kay to know that that guy in that slot’s going to take the ball every single time, single time he’s got gotten it. You know, the be the beginning part of the year when the A’s were going really well and they were over 500, the bullpen was a super strength. Then, unfortunately, it just kind of unraveled. Well, a game like this tonight, look at the bullpen. The bullpen was really started was was really the star of the game in a lot of ways. Justin Sterner, two innings, you know, he was so good, then he was sent down. Now he’s come back. We’ve talked about sending guys back down, hitting the reset. You look at the bullpen, all really good tonight. But man, put the star next to Justin Sterners, man. I’ll tell you what, and this wasn’t probably the template set for tonight because obviously we went into extra innings. You’d like to limit that and get to Mason Miller with about two other guys. We went five in the bullpen and they were fantastic tonight. So, you’re right, tip of the cap to that bullpin. Brilliant job. Yeah, when you go scoreless for two innings and extra innings and you’re starting with the runner on second, I mean for Justin Sterner, I mean, if he can get back to where he was at the start of the season where he was a primary guy to get to Mason Miller, Yeah. boy, that will be a welcome side, especially coming after the All-Star break. And remember what happened with him is he was in a tough jam in Colorado where he really made his emergence and made him himself known much better and and really went to the top of the flight of the class when he went out there and handled that situation in Colorado. From then on, he was pretty much nails until he got sent down a bit. But other than that, he’s been really great and I hope he continues what he’s doing now. Yeah, the sixth walk-off of the year, more of these wins start to give you that confidence and that’s, you know, really the key at this point where the record is to start getting the young players to feel that winning sensation, get used to it, start doing it a lot more and carrying that into the second half and have a very strong second half. Hey, you know what else is a great thing? They did this without JW, without without Jacob Wilson. And that’s a great thing to know that you love to have your big star on the team and uh you know, makes things a lot more comfortable when he’s out there. But this goes to show you that this is a well-rounded ball club. You can win even if you you don’t have your star on the club for a few days. And that’s just what they’ve done. It’s a great feeling for them. Well, what’s hot? Well, let’s find out what’s hot. Brought to you by Service Champions. And how about what what’s hot is the guy who really is the star of the game, Tyler Sodestrom. Last seven games hitting 370, two home runs, six RBI’s, that OPS of 1117. You know, it it’s been an interesting year for him, right? He was a catcher. Started moving him to first base last year. Now he was going to be your primary first baseman. But then here comes Nick Girtz. So you got to find somewhere for him. You put him out in left field. Yep. And all of a sudden the offensive numbers dip. But now they’re starting to come back up. It’ll be interesting to see after see how many games he plays this year and then let’s add up the numbers. They’re going to be really good for a guy his age really in his first full season healthy playing at the big league level. This is one of the guys where you look up and you say, “Wow, he did have a a great big year.” You look across the spectrum of some of these metrics and they’re certainly going to be there. So, with Tyler Tyler Sodm, hey, this guy’s a first round pick. Expectations are high. Tony, they are high. Nick Curts is going to join us when we bring him in right now. Bring in big Nick Curts who uh had the home run. Obviously, uh a big part of what the athletics have going and go, big fella. The way he’s been playing has been outstanding. You know, first off, I know whenever we want to talk to you about you, you want to talk about the team and this was the six walk-off extra innings now six and three. Talk about that win taking two out of three for the Braves and what that means. Yeah, it’s great feeling especially, you know, with the All-Star break coming up. Um, you know, to kind of grind through that one, come up early, then, you know, lose the lead and then be able to come back late is awesome. Said he had a great game, came up huge. We needed him. So, great team win. Nick, uh, I big strong home run hitters like you, lots of times they like to spin on the ball and hit it out that way and pull it. But since you’ve come up, I’ve seen you hit that ball the other way. You hit it with authority. You’ve seen a pitch up in the strike zone, you still nail that ball out to left field. How important is it for you as a big home run hitter to use all of the field? Yeah, I think when you can go that way, it opens up the pool side, you know. Oh, yeah. When you can know if you can hit the heater that way with authority and then when they spin something and you’re a little bit earlier on it, you have the ability to kind of pull it that way. So, they all go hand in hand. Yep. And how much do you think about going oppo in this ballpark because left field we’ve seen a lot of balls fly out. Yeah, I mean I always been thinking about going oppo. I think it’s good for your swing, good for staying inside the baseball and kind of I think it’s all timing base. You know, two strike a little bit later on the heater up trying to cover everything. So that allowed me to go that way and just hit on the barrel. Good things happen here. Nick, we we we’ve all seen your progression. You come out of Wake Forest, you go down to minors for a little bit and you just eviscerate some of these pitchers. Now you’re up here in the major leagues and you’re doing the same thing. I see a pattern here. You know what I mean? I see a pattern with this young man. Do you feel abs, you don’t feel intimidated and you don’t What’s your feeling up there? What’s your mindset when you get up there? When you’re facing the, you know, the best players in the major in in the world now. I think it’s the coolest thing ever. I mean, be able to face these guys who I’ve, you know, been watching on TV who I’m like, “Wow, I’d love to face him one day.” Next thing I know, we’re right here and I’m, you know, Spencer Strider is a guy who, you know, I was watching the Phillies in the playoffs and he’s going against them and it was it was honestly just really cool. I just try to take advantage of it and, you know, just enjoy the moment. And that’s kind of what it’s all about for me. Just enjoy. Be where my feet are and have fun. Now, I know you guys are noticing it, but we can see it a lot from up here when we’re watching the games. When you start looking at the entire outfield and the entire infield, all guys drafted by the A’s, all young. What is that like growing with these guys in the big leagues and knowing that this core, this core group, you guys are going to be together for a long time? Yeah, it’s awesome. I think I saw the graphic the other day that the whole infield and outfield was drafted. I think you know they’ve done a great job drafting guys and it’s kind of cool cuz you know a lot of those guys who were drafted came up together know each other really well are best friends and me kind of joining and coming in with hold made it really easy and just kind of go along with the group and it’s been really fun. Nick also I I think it’s great how you guys are a pretty malleable group. I mean you got you got guys can play third. You got Muny can go over there to shortstop. You got guys that can go in the outfield. Look what Tyler Sodersons did from a third string catcher to the left fielder. You got guys that can move around every everywhere. And you come to spring training now with a few gloves in your bag. So is this the type of team that this is going to be? Not just pigeon hold in one area, but can play all different positions. Yeah, I mean all hands and deck. You saw Max Schuming go out to center field in the game. I mean Andrew Hard kind of learned his start in left fields out third. I think it’s cool that a lot of guys can play a lot of different positions and makes us really deep. Injuries are going to happen. So being pretty flexible with where guys can go makes it a lot better and easier. Let’s end on this. You know, we are always talking about the offense and how you swing it. some good plays again at first base. Just talk about how much and I we see it from up here, how hard you work on your defense and how much being a good defender means to you. Yeah, absolutely. I think it’s about being as confident on defense as I am at the plate. I think that’s kind of the biggest thing. And you know, there’s always room for players to grow and I want to be a all-around player. I want to, you know, hit a bunch of home runs like we talked about. I want to be a gold glove caliber first baseman and that only comes with the work that you put in. Um, so been taking advantage of that. been working with EMR almost every single day and I just get better and better there every day. It looks like the complete package, Steve. There’s no doubt about it. I’ve seen the gold gloves a lot and he’s he’s right on his way. Just keep doing what you’re doing, my brother. Thank you, guys. Such a great job. Great stuff. We appreciate it. Go enjoy it with the guys in the clubhouse. A great win tonight for the Athletics 5 to four, a final in 11. Coming up next, the mantra’s got to be a little fired up, right? I think.
