MLB LIVE🔴 Texas Rangers vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 8, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. An AL West matchup on the show. It’s the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels. And we’ll be back with the first pitch right after this. Welcome your Los Angeles Angels. [Applause] Just about ready to roll. And today on the hill, Jack Kachanowitz. But Chris, he hasn’t exactly been stellar here on his home mound. Well, I’ll say this. Every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark in front of their fans, in front of the city, and you know, this guy no different. He wants to be more effective here. So, you know, you look at the numbers, they haven’t been great at home. I’m sure he wants to turn that around. And we’ll see if he’s able to start that in this one. [Applause] And that one wrapped foul. Here’s [Applause] the O2 foul ball left side. He’ll see another swing and it is miss. Couldn’t hit the fast ball at the knees. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strikeout. [Applause] Here comes Cory Seager. This is another guy capable of hitting tape measure home runs. First pitch misses. Fast for a strike. Well, I think that pitch surprised all of us. Right down the middle. Doesn’t get a swing. Not very often you see a hitter lay off a cookie like that. Misses off the inside and it’s two and one. [Applause] just missed. Tap foul at the plate. Now pitching for you said Kikuchi is forced to the mound after the injury. Well, he’s been a really tough guy to take deep this season. You usually have to string some hits together in order to get to him. [Applause] One out. Base is empty. All right, Eagles goes down looking. So, he gets the call and picks up the strikeout looking. Sometimes with a good hitter at the plate, he’ll be the one to get the benefit of the doubt if he lays off on a close pitch like that, but just not right there. Strike zone definitely expand a little bit with two strikes. Now, it’s Marcus Simeon. Pitch misses there. And that’s ball one. Two out. Space is empty. And the next pitch is way outside on the ground right side and foul ball. And that’s downed away. Threeon one. Swag a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. [Music] 3-2 now. Gets a piece and stays alive. Well, he hasn’t gotten the result yet, but it’s got to feel pretty confident. Three foul balls in a row. He’s right on this guy. Swings and miss has struck him out. One, two, three, go. The Rangers now. The Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. Back after this on the show. back here at Angel Stadium. And on the hill, the lefty Patrick Corbin. Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable, and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. [Applause] Zack Neto, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one to the left side, but it is well fouled. One-1 now and misses inside. That one misses. Three and one. That one misses. So a lead off walk. Pretty easy walk right there. Last pitch wasn’t even much to think about. First base. Nolan Showell. The next to hit for the Angels. [Applause] Ball one there. Nobody out. Runner at first. Come on, Nolan. Here’s a one-1. Just No, that that’s a ball. Two-1. grounder might be two offbalance feed. There’s one to first not in time. Great effort there. Batting third designated hitter. Here’s Trout. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. Liner caught it. Second batting. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. Not a team that usually sees a lot of pitches or works a ton of walks, Chris. They take a more aggressive approach than some of the other teams in the league. They definitely have a few free swingers in this lineup. Hitters who want to be on the attack and that’s great as long as you got pitches in the zone. But if the pitcher is able to expand the zone can be very difficult for an offense like this to get going. You’ve got to somehow draw some walks, put some runners on base so that when you do have those free swingers come up, you can cash in with some runs that are plated. And first offering is fouled off. Two outs. Fall. That’s low in the dirt. Kicks and fires. Foul ball. Shadowwell off of first with two away. struck him out without a swing. Strike three called and a slider at the knees. Angels leave one. We played an inning, no score. Top of the second now. Here is Adole Garcia. Adole Garcia. Garcia goes 6 foot one batting in the cleanup spot and he was born in Cuba. Fast ball almost got him there. Straighten him up a little bit. The one strike one. Ooh, Baya. Take the donut off the bat, partner. That’s a ball. [Music] [Applause] That one misses. And now three and one. Fast ball for a strike. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. BS another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Next up for Texas, Evan Carter. And first offering is fouled off. [Applause] And that one upstairs. Ball one. Freddy Ferguson behind the dish, calling the balls in strikes. Second inning here, no score. Yeah. I mean, he’s a guy that has a reputation for being fergicious. Yes. And you know, whatever. That’s allergic. Full count. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. Swang in a line drive. Base hit out into center field. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. batting six. So, next to hit for Texas, Wyatt Langford. That one outside [Music] [Applause] started to swing. This is one of those situations the infielders have to pre-plan and understand that the ball’s got to be hit extremely hard right at them if they’re going to have a chance to go for a double play. Man at first one away. That clips zone and it’s two and one. [Applause] And that’s in for a strike. Countful. [Applause] Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. [Music] [Applause] keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. Swanging a ball drilled center field. Adele sizes this one up. Two down. [Applause] Batting seventh, the designated hitter, Jonah. Jonah digs in now. Come on, let’s go. Runner on the goal. Kitchen for a strike. Throw there. Safe. Chris, his wheels were the difference maker on that play. just got in there. Yeah, with Statcast’s help, we see his top speed on this stolen base. And that’s a big number. I mean, man, he really made his athleticism work for him on that one. And that one’s a little bit low. And one and one. Ground ball up the middle. Over to first. That’s a third out. One left for Texas. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. Back in Anaheim. Bottom half of inning number two. Here’s Joe Adel. Taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point, that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. And that one fouled off. Pretty good pitch there to take a rip at. He wants to get his arms extended. He likes the ball away from him a little bit. Just not able to square it up. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. Good slider down and in can be so hard to get on plane with. You’re better off taking that pitch. And it is two and one. Two balls, one strike. And there’s a base hit and a good start to the inning. Jorge Solair up at the plate. Right fielder Jorge Solair. Ground ball right side. Could be two. Over to Seager. Relay to first. Double play. Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish. Logan O’Hap. [Music] Logan O’Hap will hit next. That’s in there. And that’s strike one. 0 and one. Batting eight, third base. Luis Renifo gets a chance to hit here. swing and a ball popped up. Seager makes the grab and the inning is over. Angels strand one. We’ll move to the third with no score. Now pitching for we’re back to start the third and there’s a new arm on the mound, Jose Soraniano. And he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. And now it’s Jake Burger to hit. First baseman Jake Burger. That one fouled off. [Music] [Applause] fouled off down the right side. Fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Outside low and a count one and two. [Applause] Strike him out. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. That one inside and the count is even. Two and two. Sit him down. fouled off and they’ll do it again. [Music] [Applause] And a foul ball. He stays alive. That one hit to right. Carous. One down. batting night. Catcher Kyle Higashioa. Up next for the Rangers, Kyle Higashioa. They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away. Los Angeles and another ball. Back to back breaking pitches away. You get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher’s afraid of you, that he doesn’t want to challenge you. So, I think the confidence level is raised right here. That’s inside. Top of the third, no score. And a strike right through there. That one in triple digits. [Applause] And that’s ball four. Tried another sl. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. Pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass. Back to the top of the lineup. Josh Smith stepping in for the Rangers. let off the game with a strikeout. Check swing and he went. That’s strike one. Oh, and one. Higashi stands at first with one out. [Music] Late swing, fouled to the left. Well, they gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone. I’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again. Fly a ball to right. He’s got it. There’s two away. Now batting shortstop Cory Seager. And here’s Cory Seager to hit. Went down on strikes his first time through. Seager checks his swing. Appeal down to third. Did not go. Two gone, but the go ahead run is at first. We’re here in the top half of inning number three. [Applause] Go. Next offering is in for a strike. This guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. Two two. [Applause] That’s down and in. A slider missed. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion, so something in the gap should definitely score it. Cut out and miss. And it’s a strike out. And that is the inning. Rangers leave one. And we’re still knotted at zero. And we’re back ready to go for the last half of the inning. And now the rookie second baseman number 17 [Music] Corbin back to work. Close but called a ball. Ball one. Bounding ball here. Rolls foul. And that’s downstairs. Two and one. Nope. Ball. Tried to back door him with that slider right there, but just missed off the plate. Good pitch, though. It’s a leadoff walk and that’s the go-ahead run. Oh, he tried to nibble right there and just missed his spot. Hitter didn’t offer at it. Now he has somebody to worry about over at first. Back to the top of the Angels lineup. And next for the Angels, Zack Neto walked to open the ball game. [Applause] Right through there for a strike. Ruer at first with no outs here. with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. That’s inside and it’s one and two. [Applause] lines out and this might be trouble. Headed to the plate, the relay, he scores and they have the lead one- nothing. Still able to come through behind in the count right there. Put a really nice balanced swing on it. And when you can rope one into the gap like that, you’re thinking extra bases from the first couple of steps out of the box. And he’ll feel real good about that one. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Nolan Showwell the next to hit for the Angels. Now one miss. I missed. That’s the ball. One on, nobody out. A run in here in the last half of the third. Swing and a miss as he was out front. That pitch started in and ended up on the outside edge. Just changing planes and very difficult especially for a left-handed hitter to track. Next offering in there for a strike and it’s one and two. That front door slider such a devastating pitch. You don’t want to get beat by the inside fast ball. So you cheat a little bit and then by the time it gets there it’s out of the swing plane. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. One gone here. Well, when you throw the same pitch back to back, that’s how you want to do it. Set him up in the strike zone, then extend a little bit from there and see if you can get him to chase. Nicely done with the slider right there. Now Trout gets a chance to hit. [Applause] Turned on, but that’s foul down the third baseline. [Applause] man at second swing and a tapper then rolls foul [Applause] and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Wow, he got away with a mistake right there. [Applause] stays alive. [Applause] [Music] That’s down and in. A slider missed. Runner at second here. One gone. [Applause] Popped up right side. Burger on his way over. He’s got it. And there’s two away. Now batting left fielder Taylor Ward. Taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels. Struck out looking his first time. in the air out towards right center and makes the grab and the inning is over. Angels get one on this double. It’s now one- nothing. It’s Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark. John Shi with Chris Singleton and set to lead off the fourth, Marcus Simeon. You can do it, Angels. Right down to shoot. And that is strike one. Well, we call that keyhole. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. And that clips the inside corner outside with a breaking ball. [Applause] Next pitch misses inside and the count now even up. Really good take especially with two strikes. 99 mph to finish him off. Came inside with that two strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to Now this one is hammered way back there on its way and gone. And we are tied. So he goes the opposite way with that one. His 11th of the year. And we are starting over. It’s 1-1. He only needed one swing to square it up. Not wasting any time. in that at bat. Boo. Aggressive and it paid off. It’s like he’s playing whiffle ball up there. And that’s typically not the easiest way to hit a home run. To the slight opposite field into the gap. Man, making it look easy, that’s for sure. So, it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. Evan Carter getting ready to hit. One for one with a single so far. And there’s a strike. Good heater at 98. [Music] [Applause] inside and that’s ball one. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. One down, base is empty. Swinging a miss. That one in the dirt. Oh, gathers. Goes to first. Out on the drop. Third strike. Two gone. Up next for the Rangers. Here’s the left fielder. Wyatt Langford. Fly to center. His first time. He’s 0 for one. [Applause] And that drops in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. [Applause] That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Two down. Base is empty, but one run across. Top half of inning number four. Next offering misses down and away. [Applause] That one outside and the count is three and one. Swing and a highf fly ball left field. Ward makes the catch and that’ll do it. Rangers pick up a run here on the solo home run. All even at one a piece ready to go. Bottom four. So in now for the Angels. Joe Adele. Joe Adele. And a pitch. down and away for ball one. [Applause] Ground ball left side zips it to first. One out in the bottom of the fourth. Now batting right fielder Jorge. And now the right fielder Jorge Solair. He’s 0 for one. [Applause] tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. All tied up. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth on the ground to third and that quickly two away. Now batting catcher Logan Oh. And now it’s going to be Logan O’Happy. And he’s already singled in this game. Not a surprise he’s off to a good start in this one given he enjoys playing so much at home. Let’s see if he can make it two for two. Hammers that one deep left field and forget it. [Applause] His 18th home run of the season. And the Halos jump out in front. It’s 2-1. That one just sounded different. Hey, it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I can feel that swing from the boot. Love to see a hitter aggressive on the first pitch of the bat. You watch him from beyond dead surface so when you step in the box, you’re ready to pull the trigger wherever it’s at. Really good job by the hitter. Total conviction on that swing. Two outs, nobody on. And next for LA, Luis Rango. On the ground of first and it goes just foul. [Applause] They had a foul ball. [Applause] And now one and two. [Applause] And that one moves his feet. Two down to swing and a miss. Struck him out. That K is his third of the game. Angels get one with a solo homer. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. We’re back and there’s a new arm on the mound to start the fifth. Sam Bachmann and this is an important part of this game. Tight score and still a lot of outs to get. So they’re looking for a big outing out of him right here to get some critical outs. Now here’s the Rangers D. Jonah Han grounded out to shorten his first trip. time 29 years old and he was drafted in the fourth round back in 2013. Action in the Angels bullpen. Brock Burke the left-hander up and throwing popped up. Ringifo under it. Pauls it in for the owl. Now batting first baseman Jake Burger. So digging in Jake Burgerer flyed to right his first time. Fast ball for a strike. Oh, this is just part for the course these days. Huge fast balls coming out of the bullpen. In there at the knees and that’s strike two. And that’s outside. O2 pitch that far out of the zone gives the hitter a little confidence that maybe he can climb back into this at bat. Base is empty, one away. And we’re in the top of the fifth. [Applause] That misses the zone. And now two balls and two strikes. Battling here as he fouls it away. One down. Base is empty. That misses the zone. Counts full. Three and two. Count. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Couple sliders away. He gets that hitter to really start looking and even leaning out over the plate. Very susceptible for the two seamer here. Let’s see what he throws. [Applause] Struck him out. He says, “I don’t care about draft rounds. Take a seat.” That’s that classic wipeout slider below the zone right there. Just nasty. Looks like a fast ball thigh high that you got to protect the zone and then it’s just that late break that fools you and kind of makes you look silly and that one hammered that’s back there and that one is off the wall and now the tying run is into scoring position. Went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. Anytime you smoke the ball off the wall, you kind of think about what it could have been, but obviously you have to be happy with that result. Now, a pretty big at bat coming up with a chance to even this ball game up. So, the Rangers batting order turns over. Josh Smith stepping in for the Rangers. [Music] This one popped up middle of the infield and that’s the third out. One left for Texas and they trail it here. Two to one. Back here at Angel Stadium, we head to the bottom of the fifth. Now it’s the second baseman number 17. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Yeah, Angels. All right, Angels. Swinging a ground ball, dives, but it kicks off his glove. No throw, and the defense comes away with nothing. Now that short stop. So the lineup flips over and down to shortstop. Zack Neto [Applause] fouled off. He was late. When you’re taking your lead over there at first, you got to be very careful. This guy on the mountain’s got a good pickoff move. [Music] [Applause] There goes the runner. Pitch misses. Throw to second. Runner in scoring position. Nobody out. Last half of inning number five. [Applause] The short stop takes the ball. And that misses off the outside edge. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. Man at second. That one’s in there. And the count is filled up. One count. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Well, they didn’t give him anything to hit. And now with runners on first and second, they’ve set up a double play opportunity. So, not a terrible result. Nolan Shanuel now at the plate for two in this one. That’s in there. It’s 0 and one. He’s looking for a strike out or a ball on the ground for a double play to sort of calm this situation down. First and second here, no outs. One in the dirt. Bullpen action for the Rangers. Jack Lighter, the rookie right-hander, is getting loose. Rocker getting loose as well. High in the air out to right. Garcia brings it in. Runner tags at second. Tag out at third and that’s a double play. Now that man, you have to be sure if you’re tagging from second base that you’re going to move up to third with no problem. And I know he wasn’t out by very much and it took a great throw to get him, but you’re already in scoring position. So, it’s just a foolish decision to try and push it there. And now batting Mike Trout and first offering is fouled off. Step off, throw to first. And he’s out and they got him. That ends the inning. Back in Anaheim, here’s Cory Seager. Bachmann back to work and that is out of play. [Applause] Swinging and a miss. Double barrel action in the bullpen. Conor Brogden getting ready to go. Strickland also throwing. [Applause] And ball one. And that’s outside. Two balls, two strikes the count. And that one missing low. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with three hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. That one misses. So lead off walk. Pretty good pitch on 3-2. Right around the knees, but just no help from the line. No outs. Runner at first. Marcus Simeon. The next to hit was 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. Grounded to third. Could be two. fires to second for one. How about that double play? They made that double play look so easy, but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big leaguers. They make tough plays look simple. Adoleis Garcia will hit next. He’s already homered here in this one. That misses the zone and that is ball one. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top half of the sixth. And a swing and a miss. One- one. The 1-1 is fouled off. [Music] fouls it back with two strikes. Two and two. Breaking ball inside and it’s three and two. Wow, this guy’s really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run. I love his tenacity. Out to center. Adele moves under it. Drops into the glove and that is that. Nothing doing here this half. Hard of the order 345 coming up. Angels two and the Rangers one. And we’re back. Here’s Mike Troutastan. Pitch misses inside and it’s one and0. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Jack Lighter up and loosening in the pen. Swaying in a miss and the count one and one whacked out to center field. That’s well struck. that one back there. And that ball is gone. [Applause] A massive home run. His 14th of the year. And they boost their lead. It’s 3-1. He absolutely crushed that one. No doubt about that one. We knew it wasn’t coming back. [Applause] A good hitter gets pitch recognition early. He saw exactly where that was going to be. the challenge, not get over anxious and come out of your swing. He stayed on it and got all of it. [Applause] And the Rangers manager making his way towards the mound now as he will make the move. Patrick Corbin is done and he’s not going to be happy with himself. New pitcher on the mound in a moment. So out of the bullpen for the Rangers, Jack Lighter. Well, he’s been hit pretty hard at times this season as you see with the big RA. So this is an important outing for him to get on the right track. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Taylor Ward. Robert to right field. Way back gone. his 21st of the year and they add to their lead. It’s 4-1. That’s their third home run of the game. They’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one. They’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot. [Applause] Welcome to the game. First pitch out of the bullpen, a tough one. And you know, he’s just trying to get one in there for a strike. And on the other side as a hitter, it’s a great time to be aggressive and let it fly. It’s not what they were looking for when they turned to him, but now he’s got to find a way to reset. So up next, Joe Adell one for two. [Applause] Yeah, that’s fouled off. [Music] Nobody on, nobody out. A pair of runs across in the inning here in the bottom of the six. Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. Oh, and two. Swings and misses. And that’s the first out. Nice recovery after giving up the homer. just overmatched on that fast right there. And it wasn’t like he was set up for it by something off speed earlier in the at bat. Just came right after him with three straight and he had no answer for it. Solair at the plate now. That’s ball one. Still only one out here in the inning. That’s hard hit on the line. Carter pulls it down. Two down. Man, that’s one of those at bats where you have to remind yourself it’s about the process. He did everything right right there. Nothing to show for it, but in your mind, you have to convince yourself that it was a very good at bat. Oh, stands in here, takes ball one low. That one finds the zone and it’s a ball and a strike. The one-1 is fouled off. Two outs. Struck him out looking. But two round trippers in this inning. The long ball was working. It’s now 4-1. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Now pitching. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound. Hunter Strickland. Well, he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year, and that’s his first test. This looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup. Here’s the center fielder, Evan Carter. [Music] First pitch doesn’t find the zone. One and0. Come on. Let’s go. Let’s score. No ball. You’re killing me. And delivers outside. that catches the top part of the zone. Three and one. Well, in this one, the offense has sputtered. Somebody’s got to find a way to get on, keep the line moving, and manufacture at least one run. Then maybe you get two or three. Rack two. And boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball. That one misses. So, a lead off walk. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that one. Wyatt Langford. Next up for Texas, Wyatt Langford. Rolled softly, but that goes foul. Now, this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game. Let’s go. Run around to go. Pitch misses. That’s out. Transfer bobbled and there’s no throw. swing. Get a ball popped up. Has this one sized up. He’s got it. And there’s one down. Bill, that was a pitch you got to crush. Unbelievable that he missed it right there. And I’m telling you, he is going to be frustrated with himself until his next at bat. So, next to hit for Texas, Jonahheim. Well, both sides equally as strong. So, not a good time to try to turn him around with a relief pitcher and put him on the other side of the plate. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. That’s ball one. Foul ball there. [Applause] And that one is downstairs and the count two and one. One out and a runner at second here in the top half of inning number seven. Misses and it’s three and two. Was good pitch there. really had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it he had a broken back as you jog back to the dugout. Good plate appearance there able to take the walk and that’ll bring the tying run to the plate. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Hunter Strickland won’t go any further tonight and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. Now pitching Brockton gets the call from the pen coming on to face a righty here and he’s been fantastic against him this year and his numbers in those matchups are very good. First and second, one out. Up next for the Rangers, Jake Burgerer. [Applause] on a line. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there are two down. It was all over that fast ball right there. I tell you what, if he gets under it just by a fraction of an inch or a little bit more, that’s way back. Kyle Hagashi stepping in for the Rangers. Drove it off the wall last time. just missed out on a home run [Applause] at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. And I know you want to be patient as a hitter, but you got to be ready to jump on the first thing straight. And he got one right there. But let the bat on his shoulder. [Applause] and just misses with that one. Man, oh man. I don’t know how you take that pitch. That’s as close as it gets. [Applause] The tying run at the plate. Down swinging. That ends the brain. Well, this guy competes hard. We see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the inning. And now it’s switchhitting third baseman Luis Reano. Oo right through there for a strike. [Music] Late with the swing there. It might be time to choke up a little bit. Get that front foot down early. Maybe even just spread out. He’s really late right now. Outside low. Yeah, the count one and two. This guy at the dish excels in two strike counts. Got to be careful with them out there on the mound. Next one misses and the count is two and two. Good eye in that spot. Just missed with a good breaking ball in looking for that hitter to chase and perhaps get some weak contact or swing and miss. Good job on both sides. Swing and a highf fly ball down the right field line. Garcia makes the play and there’s one down. Now batting number 17. Here’s the second baseman. Fast for a strike. No, that’s high. Base is empty. One away. The bottom of the seventh. Pitch misses and it’s two and one. [Music] Fought off. Foul. Just off the inside corner. Three and two now. Recognized that change up right out of the hand. Just spit on it. Fights it off. He’ll see another eighth pitch of the at coming up swing and that ball smashed on the line and there are two outs. Now batting the short stop. Still two down now. And here is Zack Neto. With this kind of lead, he can swing freely, try to hit the ball out of the park, do what he loves to do. And the first pitch misses for ball one. And that’s in for a strike. The short stop takes a ball. Next offering is in for a strike. Swing and a line drive. Ripped out of the right center. That’s a base hit. Now he’ll turn for second and he’s got his second double of the game. All over that one right there. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. So, runner at second, two down. And now the first baseman, Nolan Shanowell. Ah, ground ball. And that’s through the infield coming home. Here’s the throw to the plate. slides his hand in there. Save. It’s 5-1. Comes through with the RBI. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. Now batting designated hitter, Mike Trout. [Applause] and that’s too high. He’s getting a little frustrated out there on the mound getting hit around a little bit. Let’s see if he can settle himself down. [Applause] Two outs. Trap checks his swing. Now it appeal to first and Joe McDonald says he won around. Swing and a miss. And they count one and two. He can live up in the zone all game if hitters will chase it. That’s just too much velocity. Hitters got to look down in the zone. [Applause] fights that one away. Still one and two. Shanowell off of first with two away. Come on and miss. Struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one. So, one run in the inning on this base hit. It’s now a 51 ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. Back here at Angel Stadium, ready to begin the eighth. Digging in, Josh Smith. Let’s go. Bottom of the zone and a called strike. Brogden in his fourth year. He features a change up, a fourseamer, and occasionally uses a cutter. Hats and misses. It’s a strike out. Well, he didn’t want to go after him with the fast ball at all in that at bat. Nothing but off speed stuff. Even with all the change ups coming, somehow he was still early on the swing. So, I think he had to be thinking it was only a matter of time until he saw some heat. Seager batting with one down, takes the strike. Well, they say it’s the best pitch in baseball. Strike one, you get ahead on a good hitter as well. Gives you a little bit more confidence to move through the at bat. Inside just missed. The Angels leading by four and we’re in the top of the eighth. Come on, let’s go. Ball inside. Pitch is in there. That’s strike two. on the ground. Neto to first. Two up, two down. [Music] Now batting second base, Marcus Simeon. Here is Marcus Simeon. 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. [Music] That one down the line and that’s just fouled. Two down. Nobody on. Just missed. One ball, one strike. Next offering is down low. Two balls, one strike. And that one is inside. That’s in there. [Applause] 3-2 up the middle. Oh, great stop. Throws from his knees in time. Got him. And that’ll do it. This guy’s anticipation is off the charts. Don’t see many shorts stops better than that. Great job to complete the play and end the inning. Now pitching for Sean Armstrong on a pitch out of the pen here. He pitched yesterday and we’ll see him once again. Now the left fielder Taylor Ward. He’s already homerred in this game. Taylor Ward. Let’s go. And that one fouled off. You know, these Angels digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they’re taking. They have five extra base hits on the stat sheet so far. Oh, now this one’s high and deep way back there on its way. Gone. Another homer. He’s done it again. His second homer of the game. And they tack on to their lead. It’s 6-1. Singi. That’s his 99th career homer. Well, was probably already thinking about the next one and don’t want to think too hard because you’ll start to struggle. 100 is a really nice number to get to though. [Applause] So digging in, Joe Adell one for three. Swing and a miss. Going one. With all those extra base hits, it’s easy to think we’re going to see that trend continue the rest of the game. They seem to be really locked in at the plate. Nobody on, nobody out with a run in here. The bottom half of the eighth inning two. Some activity in the bullpen for Texas. Kumar Rocker getting loose out there. Web also getting ready. [Applause] [Applause] That one well upstairs. Going to count one and two. [Applause] That one missing inside. [Applause] Good job to fight that one off. [Applause] Foul ball left side. He’ll see another [Applause] [Music] spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another next offering way off the plate. And he chases that one. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strike out. You can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one. Oh, really expanded the zone right there with that fast ball off the outside corner of the plate. Got him to chase it. That’s a tough one to lay off of because it starts close to you and just continues to run away from you in that batter’s box. So, it’s a really nice pitch with two strikes. Solair in the box with one away as he takes ball one. [Applause] Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. Higashi pulls it down and there’s two gone. That was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate. Had pretty good timing on it. Just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up. Two outs. Space is empty. And now the catcher comes up to hit. Logan Ohappy. [Applause] Fast for a strike. [Applause] Gets a swing and a miss with the sweeper. 0 and two. and a swing and a miss at the slider in the dirt. Higashi collects, fires to first in time. The two-3 strikeout ends the inning, but the Angels add to the lead on this solo blast. Last chance coming up here for the Rangers. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Brock Burke. This southpaw has been really good against left-handed hitters. Number 46, Brock Burke. So now it’s the four hitter, Adoleis Garcia. Adoleis Garcia. [Applause] And that gets the top of the zone for a strike. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Number 39 appears to be getting ready. And I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. [Applause] That’s the third. Fires across the diamond and they get the lead off man in the ninth. And now the center fielder Evan Carter. Let’s go, Angel. [Applause] In there for a strike at the top of the zone. The Halo leading by five. You’re at the top of the night. In the air, left field down the line and that is foul. One down, base is empty. Cuts on it and misses. That’s a strike out. And now one out remaining for Texas. Well, that’s the money maker right there. Two strikes slider down and away from a same side thrower as the hitter. I mean, that’s just tough. If you’re looking to protect with two strikes and very difficult to lay off. Langford in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. Absolutely frozen on that heater right down the middle. And that’s a pitch you’re just not getting back now. And that’s the ball game. These hitters had the long ball working for him today. Four home runs had a lot to do with them coming out on top. 6-1 is your final here today. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show, I’m John Shampi. We’ll see you soon. Heat. Heat.
