I’m bored. Different perspective on the top defenseman in the NHL than the other fan voted list I posted the other day. Based more in analytics than popularity. Discuss.

  1. Spurgey 20 is spot on. Brodin 47 is criminally underrated, especially considering Slavin’s rank. Faber is probably about where he should be, could be in the 40s though.

  2. I personally don’t think Spurgeon is a top 20 defenseman at this point in his career. His injuries the last few years really seem to have put a damper on his quickness, which he really used effectively to make up for lack of size. I still think he’s a great player and I’m glad he’s on the team, but I just think age is starting to catch up to him.

  3. I like this list a lot better than Jfresh lol. The Spurg respect finally. I think he’s been severely underrated by our fanbase recently. I mean that. People were saying Faber was our 1D. Minutes wise yes but production and effectivity? Absolutely not. It was Spurg.

I think Heiskanen is top 3 tbh. I like the Fox respect even after his 4 nations was disappointing. I think Harley is a little high.

  4. Brutal list without giving us the metrics it’s using. Seems to be weighting some weird metrics with insane recency bias.

  5. Hutson being in the top 20 still feels too soon for me I don’t know. I’m also a bouchard hater so he shouldn’t be top 10 imo

  6. Well with the injuries to Brodin and Sprugeon I guess I could agree with analytics .. I do see it changing where Faber surpasses both but we will see
