The NHL’s talent can’t afford expansion, but the NHL’s owners “can’t” afford not to💰💸

This is from Jay on Instagram. He said, “With so many teams struggling to find top six players, does the sport have enough young talent for the NHL to expand to 34 teams?” I’m going to say no. I I don’t want to see 34 teams. Same. It’s also as a fan, I’ve made this point before, but the bigger the league gets, if you’re a Canucks fan, you’re one of 32 teams. And I know your chances of winning the cup aren’t one in 32 because talent isn’t distributed that way. Like ultimately it still means that your odds of of winning a cup at least slightly go down. I mean if if if if it was a 30 league team uh team league instead of you know 34 or 36 that we might look be looking at in the future that does make a bit of an impact over time. And and more importantly you’re right I look at a lot of teams around the NHL right now and a lot of them have flaws even the good teams on paper. So I I think 32 is more than enough. I like the math on it, right? You have four teams, four divisions with eight teams in uh in each of them. I don’t like the idea of going to 34 or 34 and then, you know, 36 one day potentially. But the the owners in the league aren’t going to be able to resist it because these expansion fees are just through the roof.
