MAPLE LEAFS MAKE A FANTASTIC TRADE: RYAN REAVES TO THE SAN JOSE SHARKS FOR HENRY THRUN

Oh my gosh. Okay. Okay. I It gets worse for the Vancouver Conucks. E now they’re going to have to be dealing with Ryan Reeves on San Jose of all teams. The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenseman Henry Thrron from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Ryan Reeves. That’s it. One forone deal it looks like over here. And I mean people are going to start talking. People will have their opinions. That’s a fantastic return for a 38-year-old who is finished. Makes sense that Marner’s babysitter left as well. Get ready to learn losing game sevens. Henry. Ultimately, this is a fine move for the Toronto Maple Leafs and one that is a little bit questionable from the perspective of the San Jose Sharks. Although, I will say there is an argument. Let’s head over on to Ryan Reeves. Of course, he is the big name sake being included in this deal. Reeves is 38 years old, 6’2,225, right-handed winger, signed on till the end of this upcoming season, making $1.35 million a year. That is a really high amount of money for a guy who played only 35 games last year with the Maple Leafs and had scored two points. He had a bunch of penalty minutes as well. Ryan Reeves was never really a point producer. I mean, he had the 20 point year, one year in Vegas, but other than that, Reeves has more so just been an agitator in every sense of the word. A tough guy to defend the young guys, a bodyguard, if you will, on the ice. And now he’s going to be taking that service of his over to the San Jose Sharks to hopefully protect a lot of the younger talent on that team. Heading back over to Toronto, you have Henry Thun, who is a 24 year old defenseman. He is fairly young, but a fourthrun pick back from the 2019 NHL entry draft. I do remember making videos on prospects and Henry Thrron was one of them that was of note because he was playing on the NTDP at that time. This NTDP was really, really good. It boasted the likes of Jack Hughes, Cole Cawfield, Matt Baldy, Zaggress, Turkot York, and you did have Thron who was in the middle of all of that as well. He was uh yeah, the third best defenseman on the team. Cam York was number one, Fenor number two, and then Thrun right in there as well. But Thrun inevitably found himself in the Harvard University Crimson system. kind of interesting development path because he went to Harvard, had a season there, and then went to the Debuke Fighting Saints in the USAHL the year after before returning to Harvard for the next two seasons and becoming the captain of the Crimson in 2223. He played 10 games for team USA at the World Championships, scored zero points, and then found himself as a full-time San Jose Shark the next two years. This previous season, Henry Thrun had 12 points in 60 games played, two goals and 10 assists for the San Jose Sharks. Not the best. He has a minus 23, but that’s fine. He was on San Jose. He is more of a midsized four-way skating defenseman who’s able to keep tight gaps and shadow the opposing rusher no matter how he tries to proceed. He is blessed with projectable frame and capable skating. and future considerations said he was a smart defensive defenseman with great vision and an excellent understanding of the game. At the end of the day, Henry Thrron is not going to provide too much value to the Toronto Maple Leafs from an on ice perspective. He is a body that you can play that is valuable. If you miss out on somebody, if somebody gets hurt, you need somebody to step in. Thrun can be your guy. But the real value in this move is the fact that the Maple Leafs are able to move away from Ryan Reeves, who is making 1.3 million bucks, to pretty much do nothing for this franchise. This is why we are seeing some arguments going on. This was posted onto the Rhock subreddit. Top comment says, “What are the Sharks doing? The Leafs get a free flyer of a young Dman and they dropped the Reeves contract. Sharks fan Trumpets 5 says we have an excess of left-handed defenseman. The cap space does not matter for us and I guess he will protect the herd. Narrator says no he won’t. He might see some ice time against the ducks of Trouba. We don’t really have anyone who’s willing to throw down like that. So I guess from a protection standpoint there is an argument that exists as to why Ryan Reeves was added on to San Jose. I think just based off of the way this team is assembled, the Sharks seem to be all vibes all the time between the bromance with Maline Celebr Tyler to Foley’s dad role amongst the group. You have the RSVR in there and now you got Ryan Reeves, too. I think the San Jose Sharks are actually becoming a fairly likable team all things considered and it’s becoming a little bit tough to really fight against that. I mean, they seem like a fun team to follow. And now with Ryan Reeves, there’s a big bad wolf protecting the squad. At least in theory, he would. I hate to break it to you, but Ryan Reeves doesn’t even do the enforcing part of the game anymore. And that was all he had had. Enforcers don’t protect anything. That era is long over. I don’t see Thrron making an impact. Even if it’s on the Marlies, it’s guaranteed more impact than Reeves. At least in terms of on ice play. Reading some other comments over here. Oh man, just hand us the cup already. I feel weird. Trumpets 5 says, “Leaves fans, I got bad news. Thrun is bad. Like consistently the worst Dman on our team. Reeves stinks, so who cares? His contract is fully buriable in the AHL. Reeves was not. The Leafs still carried 200K after he was waved. Reeves wasn’t going to play anymore, at least not in the NHL on the Leafs. So basically a fourth liner AHL call up for injuries for an AHL Dman. So really, this is kind of like the battle of mid, if you wanted to say that. Although Reeves does have a veteran presence that can be there to protect the kids in a way, I understand that folks will bounce back against that idea, but Reeves has excelled in the Pacific division before. It’s going to be nice to see him going up against Jack Eel and Jacob Trouba and everybody else in this division, including Elias Patterson. Oh my goodness, can you believe it when Ryan Reeves just totally pummel EP40? It’s inevitable. I think this is certainly a trade. Tidy cap dump. You only save $350,000. I guess maybe the extra million if you bury the kid. Goodbye to Harvard double major Henry Thrun. If our fans were being hard on him, just imagine the Toronto media. Can we stop babying these grown men millionaires? Okay, we could probably stop doing that. Did we just rob the San Jose Sharks? Henry Thrron is not a good defenseman. Lol. The return doesn’t matter. just that the Leafs didn’t have to give up anything to dump Reeves. Yeah, you know, I honestly do think that value for value, there is more to gain in Thrron than there is in Ryan Reeves. But from a surplus perspective, I can understand why the Sharks made this move. If they really do think that a player like Ryan Reeves can actually bring value to this lineup, then be my guest, I guess. But ultimately, I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. How do you feel about this trade here? Henry Thun from the San Jose Sharks for Ryan Reeves of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both these guys have swapped teams. Reeves is on San Jose. Thun is on Toronto. How do you feel about this? Let me know in the comments section below. I hope you enjoyed this trolls 999 and bye.
