Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rookie Playmaker Looking Like A Massive Steal
All right, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a rookie playmaker that looks like almost the steel of the draft. If you’re new to the channel, we’re Detroit Lions fans, but this channel fully dedicated to teams that just kind of get overlooked by the national media. We think Tampa Bay kind of always gets overlooked. Um, you’ve won the division three years in a row. Baker Mayfield’s like finally getting some respect, but we just know what it’s like being Lions fans. All right, here it is. And this is this is interesting to me. is Amecha Ibuka. You could have a possible star on your hands. I know you took him early, so it’s not like you took him in the sixth round, but still, what if he’s like a top five pick? And I’ll prove it to you right now. Check this out. Well, first you got Baker Mayfield just talking about in this clip how he’s cerebral. You can plug him in anywhere right now. He’s You can plug him into any spot. He understands the offense. He knows how to be a pro already based on where he comes from. He takes it extremely serious. Constant communication. So, he just goes on and on about him for 30 seconds about how much he likes him. Baker Mayfield. Love it. Here’s what I think we forget about achuka is right here. BFF put a ranking out about five sleeper wide receivers in fantasy. Now, fantasy to real life doesn’t like compute onetoone, but it’s still very interesting to me when we start kind of combining the gamblingish side to to football. It’s like they know what they’re talking about. And so, when you talk about Acha Ibuka, you’ve got a guy that for the past three seasons, he was just kind of the second option in Ohio State’s passing game. So remember Marvin Harrison like immediately is like was the best receiver they had and they had a bunch by the way. The receivers at Ohio State and we’re I’m Michigan fan so it’s like what are we doing? They’ve got receiver after receiver coming in there. It’s it’s kind of insane. But Marvin Harrison. So Mechabuka is this really good wide receiver but he doesn’t I mean he’s getting the ball but it’s not like he’s the feature guy. Then last year, you’ve got this just one of the most insane players I’ve ever seen. And Jeremiah Smith, freshman, he’s kind of the lead guy. Amechabuka takes a back seat. The Buckeyes were often ahead of games allowing to run the ball. They’ve got future NFL running backs. Both of their running backs get drafted. So yeah, are they, you know, is Amecha getting the ball and stuff? Absolutely. But at the same time, we haven’t even seen what this guy can do. We haven’t even seen it. So, IA checks many boxes, including his high separation scores and catch rates. I’ll get to that in just a second as well. In today’s NFL, that’s what it’s all about. It used to be big receiver. Um, you look for that big guy to go up 50/50 balls. It’s like, no, we don’t want 50-50 balls. Get open and we’ll get it to you. Like, what are we doing? So PFF said his routes could be sharper. Okay, that’s something like you can work on all day. So Barlink show his yards per route percentile versus all receivers in each situation. So he is at the top percentage in when he’s in the slot, wide zone coverage, man coverage. Jeez, he just gets open in his route percentage. He does crossing route hits. He’s done he’s done everything. And so when you put him with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, you’ve got Jaylen McMillan still kind of hanging in there that you’re like, what what is he now? IA. Oh my gosh, here’s his utilization and where they put him. And look at I mean the the number that stands out is let me let me find it. Where was it? Oh yeah. Um, he was an ex receiver 80% of the time. Kind of out wide, can do whatever you need. Buccaneers wide receiver depth chart right here. You got Mike Evans is your X. You got Godwin. Amecha Ibuka can lead X, then go to Z, then be a slot guy if you need him. Um, so he can play everything is what it’s a it’s a lot of numbers. He can do anything. Amecha is a very talented rookie. He’s consistently the second wide rece with the Buccaneers. It probably be the third option, possibly the fourth for a minute. It doesn’t matter. You you’ve got a a star here that has such a high ceiling. That’s the whole thing. And so when you go here and I like this just sums it up a little bit better, but his success route on different types of routes in the route tree on the left side and then his route percentage, how many times he ran those routes. Basically what you see here on the routes you’d expect on like a go route half the time though they connected on that a post 66%. I don’t know why they’re red. I don’t even know why they’re red here. Comeback. every comeback he’s done and got thrown to, he catches it. Every screen he’s caught, he’s caught 87% of his slants. Um, like you can see how the green out routes he could be a steal because when I think about wide receivers and you think about the Lions have St. Brown and he kind of reminds me of that. They’re different, but when it’s third and eight and you got to have a guy get open and they’re going to play man, it’s like it’s a passing down. It’s all this stuff and it’s just like you can still get open. It changes everything because you’re no longer trying to scheme stuff up to get open. I mean, that’s that’s tough after a while. It’s like we need you. we we have the scheme and we need you to get open. And so for him to be able to do that is is awesome. So now you go through it and you’re like, “Okay, offensive line, we’ll see what we have here once the pads come on in training camp.” You’ve got a quarterback that we’ve all just watched and we’re all just like maybe we’re just tire fatigued of like making fun of him or saying he sucks or I don’t even know what what what not even sucks, but Baker Mayfield, we’re just like, “Yeah, he’s he’s fine. I’ I’d take him.” every fan base would take him just like that. Just flips a switch and I think he has he’s just matured and playing great and you would you take him. So you got you’ve got the quarterback, you’ve got the weapons, you’ve got Bucky. Defensively, you really try to improve that. Got some secondary guys and said, “Let’s let’s let’s improve defensively. Let’s win the division again and then let’s go see if we can beat the Lions, beat the Philadelphia Eagles, beat the Rams.” Like these are the teams that are going to be up there. we got a home playoff game and then we’ll see what we can do. Like that’s the formula and you know it. You’ve done it. You’ve done it last three years. You let’s do it again. And because again your division yet the Falcons are going to be pesky. The Panthers are going to be much improved, but I keep arguing improved from being horrible. So it’s like the Lions have been there many times where it’s like they’re going to be a lot better this year. Yeah, I know. But we won two games last year. They’re going to be much improved but still rough. And the Saints are going to be the worst team in the NFL. So perfect. So it’s like, okay, it’s all relative, right? Because you’ll beat them twice. So will the Falcons. So will the Panthers. So you got to beat them twice. It’s almost like a pressure game because if you beat them, it’s like, yeah, you should. They suck. And if you don’t, it’s like, oh, that was terrible. So been there. We’ve been that team as well. So let me know your thoughts in the comments. Amechabuka is going to be a star. And we’ll see all of you on the next one.

Hoping he's everything we expect and more. Love your podcast/show. Good luck to the Lions next season too except for when you guys play us. Go Bucs.
Hah, I think it's funny you seem to hold in a throw up burp mentioning the Ohio State receivers. Good Show, Browns fan pulling for Detroit all the time.
There's a story behind why emeka ebuka didn't have big numbers he stayed the mentor and extr year in college
If you ever check it out his tape his footwork is amazing the way he confuses defenders to get open
Plus Mike Evans can help mentor him
Reddick to help Ya Ya Diaby
Enjoy checking y'all breakdowns of Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I've felt for the last couple of years, the parallels of the Bucs to the Lions are strong! So, I do look at the Lions at where the Bucs can be (kinda like Freshman to Senior thing).
And on that note..I do think Emeka Egbuka does give me Amon Ra St. Brown vibes! Of course, that's high praise given the excellence your wideout has already done for the Lion's organization.. But I just have this feeling…much like what you've shared here that he has the capability to be that for the Bucs – which would be AMAZING!
They have won the division four years in a row hopefully soon to be five not to mention the incredibly historical yet somehow overlooked covid year super bowl run which started it all off there are two teams that have made the playoffs the last 5 years one is in Kansas City the other one is Tampa Bay
The strongest thing I've seen from abuka other than the fact that he loves to outsmart you is how smooth he is going in and out of his route he's got soft hands and he's got deceptive speed he's one of those guys you don't think he's all that fast until you try to keep up with him on the field he's got a great feel for the game he's got the perfect mindset he could be something I'm like so I'm right there with you guys on that one other thing one other thing a lot of people a lot of teams had him ranked reasonably hi I assumed but nobody was high on him like got to have him except for the incredibly savvy front office and Todd Bowles very impressed with the way this team is being run that is just my very personal opinion
You keep saying “we” have this, “we” have that… you sure you’re not a Bucs fan after ur Lions?!? 😊
I think what first attracted Emeka to the Bucs was Jalen McMillan. They basically see a similar Wr in Emeka. Then, during the draft, when they had Sean McVay saying he wanted to trade up for Emeka, they ran up their card to select him. I heard Bucs G.M. Jason Licht say the Rams had a substantial trade up package for Emeka. I'm a little back and forth about that; but, okay, I kind like the idea of another Jalen McMillan.
Basically, Chris Godwn was their dirty work guy. He was the third down chain mover, and Mike Evans was, more or less, the deep guy. But, then they brought in Jalen McMillan, and, while he can get deep, he's an chain mover as well. But, bring in Emeka Egbuka who's also a chain mover. I mean Baker's Qb rating has been going through the roof with all these third down chain movers. And you bring in yet another Chris Godwin win the third down guy.
Add to that these chain mover Te's(in Cade Otton and Payne Durham), and then you've got receiving hb's in Bucky Irving and Rachaad White, and Baker Mayfield's completion rate is just gong to go up again!
Rachaad White looks to be an even bigger threat in the receiving game this year. He's sized down to gain more speed. Rachaad White can beat most linebackers as a receiver. He's like the Egbuka and Jalen McMillan of Hb's as a receiving back.
Won the division 4 years in a row. Playoffs 5 but Thank you for covering the Bucs man, love it! Lions got it going on rn too.
