Ed coming into the action tonight hitting 273. He will get ready to face Ryan Nelson. I like this match up for Zach Neto. Zach Neto has never seen a fast that he doesn’t like and he’s going to get a ton of them. Ryan Nelson throwing his fastball 63% of the time is the sixth highest in the major. Has five starts for him. 3 and 0 record erra 1.53. He’s ready. And the first pitch tonight going away and misses for ball one. One ball, no strikes. Yeah, different arm angle than they’re used to. This is straight over the top. Nelson’s got the four seamer, the slider, cutter, curveball, and change up. Here’s the next pitch. And this ball’s lifted high in the air. This ball’s tearing deep out into left center. Good miss. Goodbye. And here’s home run. You like the match up and you were right on the money. Zack Dto again. He loves the fast ball and you’re going to get it for Ryan Nelson. And sure enough, he gets one. This one covers the middle of the plate. Only the seventh home run Nelson’s allowed. And Zack Dto makes him pay for this fast ball right in his wheelhouse. 434 the tail of the tape. Ditto with his 15th of the season. Just like that. One- nothing Angels. Here’s the next pitch. Zack Dennis also the first Angel to touch home plate and that is presented by Del Taco. goes a two- two count on Shaunell just five for his last 28 swings of that one behind the plate was copyrighted broadcast presented by authority of Angels baseball may not be reproduced or retransmitted in any form and descriptions of this game be disseminated without the express consent of angels baseball crowd waits on deck Next pitch on Shawell. He hits one down the right side. Good foul play. Still a two- two count. That was a good slider. All fast ball so far from Nelson. And he finally throws a slider. Conwell way out in front of that one. Here’s the next delivery. And that one is low. B. Yeah, fast ball’s going to sit 9498. He’s topped out this year at 99. And opponents coming in this game were hitting just 181 against his fast. A lot of daylight on that left side of the infield. And he’s going to take that pitch from this ball four. So walk and now Mike Trout will be the next batter. And that 181 average against his fast ball, third best in the majors. Hunter Brown sits number one, 175 against Hunter Brown’s fast this year. Brown of the Houston Astros. Here’s two homers in the four game Texas series. Three hits in that series. Two left the ballpark. First pitch of ball. And the next one on Trout that’s way outside. Two balls and no strikes. Johnell checks the box of the first walk of the game and that’s presented by Johnny Walker. Keep walking. Goes out to have a word with Nelson. Around the infield tonight for the Dbacks, they have Josh Naylor over at first. Lee Alexander at second. Autin Suarez is the third baseman. Ronaldo is the short stop. Curtis Buriel in left. Thomas is the center fielder. Randall Rich in right. Herrera is catching a hit on Trout and that’s a pitch right there that he foul tips and count two balls, one strike. Yeah, predominantly that fast too just rides towards that top side of the strike zone. Next delivery on Dr. Swings to that one, fouls it off over on the first base side. Yeah, there’s a few guys in his lineup I you feel good with. Obviously Netto you feel good with Joe Adele. I feel like this is good match up for Joe Adell and Logan Hoppy loves a fast ball at the top side of the zone. Here’s Nelson’s next pitch. The borderline pitch there goes Trout’s way. He’s worked a full count. Three and two. Outfield playing Trout a little bit the opposite way. Grounds one out of the reach of the third stop and that’s D through left center field hustling to third is not second diving in. It’s Trout and runners at second and third with no outs. Taylor Ward the next batter. Mike Trout just his fourth double of the season. And this is a hustle double. Ruriel gets to this ball quickly. Gets the ball in and Trout shifts some gears. Able to dive in head first at second. Action here in the top bottom of the first. So here’s Ward with a chance to drive in some runs. Top RBI man. the pitch. Yeah, there fouled off for strike one. No balls and one strike. Ward in that series against the Rangers, 267, four for 15, a home run and four RBI’s in that series. Next pitch on Ward. Fouls it off right side again. Taylor Ward the last 13 games, 360 average, a couple home runs, 10 RBI’s in the last 13 games for Taylor Ward. So the count’s 0 and two on the Angels left fielder. Joe Adell waiting on deck. Two strike pitch again. Fouled off on the right side, hitting him in the air. Foul. 16 pitches for Nelson. 88 breakdown of balls and strikes. The pitch this is high with that one. That’s one ball, two strikes. Yeah, Ryan Nelson with the good numbers. First inning has been an issue for him. Erra sitting at five. Outfield is playing deep. Fielder spread apart and two strike pitch that’s about straight back behind still one and two. Pretty good battle going on here. Ward fouled up about pitches. 20 pitches for Nelson so far. 17 of the 20 fast balls. Here’s the delivery. Fly ball lifted into left center. This should be deep enough to get a run in. Under making the catch on that one was Juriel tagging at third and scoring without a throw of beatal. The sack fly and the Angels have a two nothing lead. Really nice at bat for Taylor Ward. Fouled off a bunch of pitches. Finally got a cutter and just misses this one. Gets underneath it a little bit. Plenty deep enough to score Shaunell. Trout tags. Try starts to go to third base and that’s one you can read. See if that throw’s online. If it’s off, you keep going. If it’s not, you just slam on the brakes and head back. Joe Adell will be the batter. The sixth sack live on the club. Here’s Adele taking one inside. And the counts one ball, no strikes. So Adele, the fifth batter in the inning. It could mean another run, pick seven. And that’s in there for a called strike as Adele digs in. He’s had hits in 18 of his last 21 games, 247 batting average, 19 homers. the pitch. Swings at it and lifts it in the air into right center chasing is Thomas and he’ll make the catch. Trout’s going to be able to tag and advance to third. It was hit deep enough. It was caught maybe 3 4 feet from the rim of the track. Long fly out. Out number two and Yan Mona will be the batter. Jodell gets a cutter and again this is another one that’s just missed by an Angel player. Good hitter at the plate and the angels have three switch hitters after all that rightander. first pitch and that ball’s lifted high and it is crushed out there in the deep right field. It is way out of boy. That was a blast right there. We’ll see what the tail of the tape ends up being on that one. Monata’s seventh home run of the season. A two-run shot and a four nothing Angels lead. Wow. This is an absolute blast. No doubter. Soon as it makes contact, sound like a cannon going off at home plate. Monta sitting fast ball. Once again, this is center cut. Joan Monta just absolutely smokes this ball. They’re saying 405 on that one. Wow. Thought it was a little deeper. I definitely thought it was deeper, but you knew the moment he made contact, it was liftoff. And that one out by plenty meeting at the mound has wrapped up. Captain is their pitching coach. He makes the slow walk back to his first base dugout. That was 103 off the bat. And that ball jumped out of here in two seconds. All those numbers aren’t equating to what we saw. Yeah. Here’s the next pitch. And that’s a liner off the bat of Oh, and that’s going to be a single for him. Boy, this is really encouraging tonight because Ryan Nelson was really pitching well coming into this game and the Angels are hitting one bullet after another off of him. Oh, the numbers are off the charts what he’s been doing lately. And again, first inning’s been a trouble inning for him. Angels certainly have are going to make those numbers go up. Left-handers are hitting just 150 against them. That is the best in the majors. First pitch on Ren Hippo. That one misses for a ball. Van Hippo with hits in five of his last six games. His season average at 28. Takes that one right in there for tall strike. It’s one to one. One thing with Ryan Nelson, too, when you’re straight over the top, your fast ball is going to be pretty straight. And it looks straight as a screen. There’s one that’s fouled back off the screen behind the plate. Counts one and two on Renipo. Campero, the nine-hole hitter, would be up next. 27 pitch inning. He’s coming off a really good start against KC. That was in Arizona. Got to win seven innings, four hits allowed. Just one run. Pitch misses. And the count’s now two balls and two strikes. Start against the Royals. He had a perfect game going with one out in the sixth inning of that. Here’s the pitch. That’s a ball off the mound and it’s going to stick through in the right center. That’s another hit going first to third will be Hoppy. Runners at the corners and the ninth batter in the inning is going to be stepping up. Tamperro. There there’s another number that does jump off the page with Ryan Nelson in Arizona. A 4 in one record 2.17 RA on the road this year though 1 and one 5.34 and that is what we’re seeing tonight. No doubt. Big first inning for the Angels. Four on the board. A chance to get more. Runners at first and third. Two outs. Pitch on Campo. A chase and a miss. The balls and one strike. Pero 0 for his last 11. Four for his last 29. And pitch. That’s inside. He’s determined to try to get the Angels out with the fast ball. Hasn’t really made the adjustments again. A lot of them more towards the middle of the plate. Next delivery. This is lined into to left field, but there and reaching up making the catch on that one is Lordis Buriel. The inning is over, but a good start for the Angels tonight. A four spot here in the first. Second inning coming up. Four nothing Angels on Angels Radio. So he’s the first base runner, a one out base runner here in the second and Randall Bridget will be the next hitter. Really important for Tyler Anderson to try to stamp that zero on the scoreboard after your offense puts four on the board in the bottom of the first. You don’t want any of that momentum linking over into that diamond back dugout. You didn’t like seeing a four pitch walk there. And again, the lefty. Here’s Richik at the plate. He takes ball one. Only two lefties in the lineup. Obviously Naylor’s one of them, but the lefties again. 315 against Tyler Anderson. That is the highest average against lefties in the majors. Here’s the next pitch. And that wasn’t a cheap one. 430 the tail of the tape on that home run. Ripik hitting his sixth of the year. And that will cut the Angels lead in half. 17th home run allowed by Tyler Anderson. Lays Alexander who spent most of this season in TripleA is the batter and the first pitch of ball on him 1 and0. Gone two for 13 since the Dbacks brought him up. Hitting 284 in Triple A. And he lines one down the left side and that’s going to roll all the way down in the left field corner. This is going to be extra bases. A double for him, a standup double. And this is a little bit concerning right now with Tyler Anderson on the mound. Tyler Anderson just he’s got to be so fine and be able to hit his spots. If he misses, comes more towards the middle of the plate. It is very hitable. Barry Enright going to go out and have a chat with Tyler Anderson. Fans, join us for Throwback Week. He’s had some other stretches this season where he’s been off a bit, but you give them the four nothing lead and now they’re going to have the tying run coming to the plate here in inning number two. Here’s the pitch and that’s taken for a ball. This is Alec Thomas, left-handed hitting center fielder. Well, both these teams can pound the ball out of the ballpark. Diamondback’s fourth in the majors. Angel’s fifth. Next pitch and this is lifted in the air into left center field. That’s going to drop in. The runner from second’s going to score. Knowing him he’d give it a shot. Yeah, in his mind he’s ready. And Anderson just wheels around. Bluffs a toss over there to second base. Anderson retired the side one, two, three in the first. Got the first batter out here in the second, but the next four have all gotten on and three of them have scored and one’s in scoring position. Here’s the pitch. H foul to our right. It’s going to drop in for a base hit. They’re going to send the runner home, Thomas. Here comes the throw to the plate. It hits off the glove of Ohapy. He’s hurt in front of home plate. And now it’s a 44 ball game. Bit of a collision at the plate. Oh says he’s okay, but this game is tied at four. Yeah, this is a really good throw from Taylor Ward. If Hoppy’s able to hold on to it, there’s an out at the plate. It hits in and out of his glove. And once you catch the ball, you close the lane down. You are a target and he just sweeps his feet out when he slides. Alec Thomas and Oh, Hoppy just takes his eyes off the baseball. This throw beats him. Really good throw by Taylor Ward. But game’s now tied at four that quickly. Yeah, on that RBI hit Carrera at first base. He was not able to get up to second even though the Ro got away slightly from O’Happy who was down it home plate. Yeah, he must not have been paying attention because that was he could have walked the second base. Good help. So here’s the Marte and the pitch and he hits one in the air down the left field side. It’s going foul. Chasing after it and running out of room. Both Neto and Monata couple rows back out of play. Three of the last four batters have driven in runs for them in the inning and four straight batters have had hits in the inning. Just one out and that lead has disappeared. Here’s the pitch. It’s fouled off right side out of play. Had five straight hits in this inning. 0 and one is the count. Here’s the next one on for Domo. That’s in there for a called strike. Ground ball hit right to third. Skips off the glove of Monata and the ball rolls into left field. And it’s going to be an error on the Angels third baseman. Really routine play. Yeah, real routine. misses right to him and pretty much you always want a little bit of movement towards the baseball and Monata doesn’t really do anything just flatfooted and that ball just eats him up. So they batter now Josh Naylor walked and scored last inning. Suarez leads off first. Here’s the pitch. Naylor goes after that one. Fouls it back. I was mentioning Suarez before he got that ball that he hit to Mata at third base. Coming into tonight’s game, in his last 162 games, so that’s a complete full season. He has 52 homers and 136 runs batted. to pitch a tie. Farez was named to the NL Allstar team in action this week in Atlanta, I believe. Isn’t he in the home run derby also? I think so. Talking a week or so ago about who were going to be some of the AL hitters there. I think I saw today where Jazz Chisel can be added to the AL home run hitting roster. And here’s a little tapper fair on the third base side. And by the time Anderson comes off the mound and fields it, he has no throw. And that’s an infield single. So the first two are on for the Dbacks to start off the third. And Richick, who homered last inning, will be the next batter. Boy, this is a full swing off the very, very end of the bat. And Naylor’s helmet falls off and this ball just trickles right down that third base side. By time Tyler Anderson gets to it, there is no play. We got the error, the infield hit. Don’t like the way this inning’s starting to set up. Not at all. Richik is the batter inside last season with the defects. He ended up resigning with free agent at the end of the year and kind of was fishing around for another opportunity. Was sign resigning with the Dbacks and missed that pitch for strike. And you were talking about Uh Suarez and the Seattle Mariners has traded him to the Dbacks because they didn’t like the strikeouts. Here’s the pitch and that’s grounded foul over on the left side. Strikeouts are still there for Suarez, but I’m sure the Mariners would like those 29 home runs that he has. Team that’s desperately searching for offense, although it looks like they got some tonight. put 12 on the board tonight. Detroit. Yeah. Oh, shocking. A pitch that is be outside for a ball. Detroit Tigers have the best record in the majors by far. And here’s the pitch. It’s a wave and miss. And pulled on a change up. There was Richard struck them out. The first out and the second strike out of the game for Tyler Anderson. Yeah, good change up there. Located really well down and away. Yeah, the Mariners knocked off the Tigers 123 tonight. And who did they beat? Tick Scooble pounded it. Casey eyes of the driver was added to the Allstar team. I guess that’s pounded against school. It went five innings allowed four runs. That’s that’s getting pounded for him. I don’t think he gives up more than one per start. So here’s Bla1 Alexander and the first pitch right in there for strike. The top of the third, the 4-4 ball game. It’s being presented by Modello. Brewed with the finest ingredients for a taste that’s pure gold. Two runners on first and second with one out. Go ahead and run at second to bring him in the pitch and a piece and a miss. So the counts 0 and two. And Tyler Anderson when there’s runners in scoring position that is the pitch he goes to is that change up. Feel like hitters get a little extra antsy with guys in scoring position. Able to pull the string on it. Is the two strike pitch tie there at 91. Tyler Anderson’s out this year at 92. Next delivery. Ground ball hit the netto. This should be two. Flip to second. Relay on first. And that’s how the inning will end. Double play ball. And that’ll do it for the Dbacks here in the third. Bottom of the inning is coming up. 44 game on Angels Radio. Neto let off the first. He let off the second. And now he’s going to lead off the fourth. Here’s the pitch on its way. Popped in the air into shallow right field coming in hard and unable to come away with that one is that dropped a couple feet in front of him. So that’s going to be a loop hit for Neto. His second hit of the night. That’s one of those fly balls you got to make a choice one way or the other whether you’re going to lay out for it or whether you’re going to just pull up and take it on the hop because if you lay out and are unsuccessful, you’ve got big problems. That would have been standing at at least third base there. The batter is Shadowell and the pitch that one out there to he was coming in full speed ahead and then he pulled up. It was like he just needed to make one more step. He could have caught that ball possibly in the air. Played it on the bounce. Here’s the pitch and that’s blowing in on Shadowwell. It’s ball two. Two balls, no strikes. Again, those judgment calls when you are flying in and you know you’re going full speed in your mind. You those that’s what’s running through your mind. Do I lay out for it or do I have to pull up? And I don’t think he catches it. If he if he continues his path and tries to catch it standing up, I don’t think he gets it. But the only way he was I think he was going to catch it if he would have go for it. And I think he might have caught it then. Neto will take the end result though. Yes, he will. Got at first base. They will go ahead run and Arizona’s going to challenge this. Getting a chance to look at it. It’s on the pickoff. Arizona is challenging the safe call at first base. This challenge is presented by East and East. Really quick tag by Naylor over at first base. And being left-handed, that is such an advantage. And and there’s one look, it’s really hard to tell whether he’s got the oven mitt on over there. Whether that able to get to the bag, we just got a really good view on the field is overturned. Outs will defend the challenge. That’s Chris Coution, the crew chief. Call is overturned. Neto is an out late getting back to the bag. Picked off. Yeah. One, you couldn’t tell. And then at the last second, we saw a one version of that where Yes, it does look like Nettle’s still reaching for the bag when the tag from Josh Naylor is being applied. So, one out and the pitch to Shadow. It’s line right by the pitcher and through it rolls into center field. Nelson reached out its glove but didn’t catch it and then it shot on through out to center where Alec Thomas had to play it on a few hops. The Angels have had two hits in the inning from the two batters at batted, but there’s one out but one on right now. And here’s Stra. Says they try to teach their outfielders to play shallower to take bloops away and how to learn how to go back on baseballs. Makes sense to me. Yep. And the pitch, that one is a borderline pitch. Crowd lays up at all three. It’s full count. We We’ve seen a lot of blue pits falling in when you feel like those are the ones that kill you more than the gappers that you were trying to protect. There’s Trout swinging at one and popping it up on the right side of the field. They don’t see it. And the ball pucks out of the glove of the second baseman. Johnowell was caught in no man’s land there. He had to go back to first base. So they’re going to get him out easily at second. Both Naylor and Alexander had that helpless look going there and it was Alexander who tried to catch it. It popped out of his glove and no fault by Shadowell. He had to stay near sec first base and ends up being an easy out at second. Yeah, Twilight, if you don’t see it off the bat, you will not pick it up in the sky. And Naylor had his hands out immediately like I I don’t see it. It was right standing right where he was. It goes down as a four six fieldielder’s choice. And now two outs with Ward at the plate. First pitch he was taking. it in there for strike one. Next delivery, this is a little poke into right center field. Coming over making a nice running catch is Richic on that one. That is eighth most in the majors. And their bullpen has allowed now 55. That’s second most in the Yeah, a problem. Little dropper crowded off on the third base side. Problem with those reliever home runs. Relievers come in later in games and when you’re giving up a lot of home runs late in games, that’s a bad situation for the most part. Yeah, that’s one of the reasons Tyler Anderson hasn’t won a game for a while. He has pitched well enough to win some games. One ball, two strikes. 55 here in the eighth. And the next pitch outside. Two and two is the count. And here’s the delivery. Chopper fouled off over on the third base side. 15 pitches for coming in. He retired the first batter. Got the ground out. Run by the 22 on Alexander. He chases and misses that one. That was a curveball. Struck him out swinging. Two down in the inning. When the Angels step up in the bottom of the eighth be the top of the batting ordertoell and trout Thomas is the batter. Eight hole hitter RBI single and three times up. Grounds this one through the left side. has had that bit of a shift on on that left side where Meadow was way closer to second and that ball was basically hit right through the short stop hole. Rolls into left center field. Two out single and a speedy runner on at first base. Terry Enright going to go out and have a conversation with Demer. And you can you have a feel that Memphis is a guy you can run on not real quick to home plate once he picks that leg up and I’m sure they’re going to discuss that. Certainly with two outs you would really like to just focus on your hitter. This is the number nine guy in the lineup. Herrera he’s hitting under 200. Yep. that that that’s kind of I think the conversations going on is hey let’s not put a whole lot of attention to the guy at first base the meeting breaks uprera has driven in a run tonight did it his first time up at an RBI single he’s three here’s the first pitch takes that one a fast ball for a called strike nothing and one is the count over 35,000 here. This one’s going down to the wire and the pitch. Foul right side. That’s back seats. 0 and two is the count. Light breeze not much of a factor. Very pleasant night tonight. Here’s the day. Two strikes here on Herrera. El Marte would be up next. Trying to wrap this inning up right here. Tosses over to first base. Thomas really good. There he goes. Here’s the pitch. This is lifted in the air but to left center where Taylor Ward is under waiting. He’ll squeeze it. And that is how the inning will end. So they do tie it up with a run here in the eighth. We’ll go to the bottom of the eighth inning. It’s a five game on Angels Radio. Also available on the Angels radio app. Angels fans, new Eric Cap is proud to be the official cap of your law. Neto has had a two hit night and this is the fourth different time that he’s led off an inning. Hit off the first, the second, the fourth, and now the eighth. And here’s the pitch. Takes that one for ball one. It’s 1 and0. And when the leadoff man in your batting order is leading off a lot of innings, that’s telling you your number nine hitter is ending a lot of innings. So that’s just the way it played out tonight. And Pharaoh is the nine hole hitter has gotten once tonight walking in the bottom of the fifth where not being a lead off. Here’s the pitch and that’s outside and count goes to two and one. The bottom of the eighth. It’s being presented tonight by Farmers and Merchants Bank. Angels have Kenley Jansen getting loose, hoping for a run here. Stefani back out there for another inning. And the next pitch that’s in there for strikes. Third inning of work for Anthony. Actually retired last 16 batters in a row. Gave up hit the walk for the first two he faced. Starting up six. Here’s the next pitch on EdTo. He fouls that one back behind home. Pass 95. And he has mixed it up really nice. changing speeds and has enough life to that fast ball to get you tardy going after it. Delivery Neto backs away from that one. It was blowing in and now it’s a full count. Back pitchers have walked seven angel batters. This is a full count. Here’s the pitch and he goes after it. puts it in the air, but it’s right near Thomas and he will make the catch though. Very deep in center field. One gone here in the Angels bottom of the eighth. Nolan Shadow will be the next batter. Yeah, Had Neetto on that front foot with that curveball. Hits it off the end of the bat. Donov pair hits and a walk. Nice night. swings and misses the first pitch. Domo the short stop near second. And here’s the next pitch on there. He’s down. No balls and two strikes. Tight ball game 55. Bottom of the eighth inning. And the O2 pitch is low. One ball, two strikes. 45th pitch. And you look out in that Dback bullpen, no fighting throwing. Arizona, they have not been good in close games and they’ve struggled in extra inning games. Good in close games, haven’t been good in extra innings. We’ll see how this plays out. Back out of play. Angels were one of the top teams before that series against the Blue Jays where they lost all three one-run games, two of them in extra innings. Donov battling here against the next pitch lifts this one high in the air. It’s hit well out into right center field. Couple out brothers chasing. They can’t get to it. Donnowell is going to easily get the second and he is there with a one out standup double and that is his third hit of the night. So he’s in scoring position with one away and Mike Trout will be the next batter. This ball is perfectly placed in the right center field gap. Got Thomas and Bridget closing on it but neither one of them could get to it. If Alec Thomas can’t get to the ball, no one can get to the ball. I agree. A hit here could give the Angels the lead. Pitch on Trout. Takes it low and away. Ball one with a knuckle curve ball. Mike Trout is been on base every time he’s batted tonight. He has two walks, a double. He’s also reached one of Fielder’s choice. Next pitch. Checks on it. And that one is outside. Put Trout on here. I was thinking once you get two and0, you have a base open. Mike Trout is still Mike Trout. They decided to put him on. So an intentional walk as it turns out. Trout on base for the fifth time tonight. He’s officially one for two in the ball game. And now Taylor Ward will be the next batter. Another walk devoured by the Diamondbacks in this game. First pitch on Ward. Looks it over in there for called strike. Eight walks given up by Arizona in this game. Yeah. And only a couple of them have come around to score. Pitch a little bit low. 101. Taylor Ward’s night 0 for three with a sack fly. B came into this game a little three-game hitting streak but hits in 12 of his last 13 ball games. Here’s the next pitch and he takes it. It’s in there for a called strike. Sinker was elevated a bit. Yeah. Coming in this game, Taylor Ward last 13 games a 360 average. Two home runs and 10 RBI’s. also had eight walks in the last 13 games out the walking lot. There goes Shawell. The pitch is high and no throw to third. No one even went to cover. The third baseman Suarez just stayed in his spot. Donowell getting a stolen base. That’s his fourth of the season. Still at first. You when you’re the trail runner, all you do is focus on the guy in front of you. If he goes, you go. Trout could not see that. Oh, a sack fly could give the Angels the lead. Two- two pitch. There’s a liner, but it’s going to drop foul on the left side. It was Oh, maybe 10 ft off the line. It wasn’t that close to hitting the line. He hit it hard. Good solid contact with a foul ball. And with Shotwell still in third, it draws the infield in. They’re not all the way in on the grass. They are right in the base pass, but it makes them closer, creates more space for Taylor Ward. And it’s making a lot of noise here at the Big A. Here’s the 2-2. He takes it inside and now it’s a full count. Bill waiting on deck. Herrera the catcher flashing signs to the infielders. What they want to do if Trout’s on the move here have never trailed in this game. It’s even right now. Here’s the pitch and that’s a chase and a miss. Taylor Ward is a strikeout victim. Two gone here in the bottom of the eighth. This is a really good change up. Looks like it’s a strike all the way to home plate. The bottom falls out. Taylor Ward over the top. Big strike out. That would have been ball four. Here’s Adele. He’s been quiet tonight. Odell’s 0 for four. Here’s the pitch and this one is lifted in the air. Shallow left center field. Outfielders are chasing hard and lunging and making the grab on that one is Guriel. He saves the day for the Dbacks. That’s how the inning will end. Angels leave a pair on. That’s 12 stranded tonight. We’re headed to the ninth. It’s still 55 on Angels Radio. MLB Big Inning presented by Best Western every night all season long on MLB.TV. New pitcher for the Angels. We get ready for the ninth inning and it’s Kenley Jansen. The Angels closer takes over. He’s the fifth pitcher of the night for the Angels. And here’s the pitch on the outside corner against Del Marte. And the count 0 and one beat off man has had a single walk tonight. Switch hitter bats left. Here’s Jansson’s pitch. Low, one ball, one strike. We’re in the top of the ninth. It’s a five5 ball game. Each team with 10 hits. Top of the ninth inning. It’s being brought to you by the Vita Cocoa Company. Ball two. It’s two balls, one strike. Tail Marte 287 career hitter against Henley five for 18 and that’s right in there for strike. Not sure if you saw this one today, Mark, but a former Angels closer was added to the AL Allstar team today. Carlos Estzer having a big year for him. A hit right there. That foul off the mask of the home plate umpire. Yeah. Oh, Hoppy immediately spins around and grabs him. He was stunned by that. Two balls and two strikes to count. Just talking about Carlos Estz. He entered the day today tied for the AL lead and saves with the Royals 25 and Josh Peter of the Astros. The save leaders and the Royals have gotten hot. Yeah, playing better baseball close to the 500 mark. They were a playoff team last year. Here’s the pitch. A liner into right field. That’s going to drop in for a hit. Aro will quickly get to the ball and fire it back to the infield. But that is a leadoff hit for Marte. And now Predomo will be the next batter. Yeah, really quick hands for Marte. This is a cutter in on him. And boy, he pulls his hands in and gets that bat through the zone quickly. Had a one for four night. Marte just two stol the bases, but Kenley Jansen not good at holding runners on at all. Not going the pitch in there for called strike. Elmo 0 for one his career against Ken. Nansson is the pitcher of record in this game. Over. Yeah, Marte. Not a big lead at all over there at first. Hansen is ready. And here’s the next pitch. This is looking high in the air. It’s hit well out in there to right center field. Adele is at the wall and he makes the catch. The runner at first base holding. Boy, that looked like it was possibly going to be trouble out there, but it gave out just a bit and turned out to be a routine catch for Adele. But right near the wall. I’m with you. Could tell Marte had time once Joe Adele kind of started to camp under this ball right against the wall. Marte could have went back and tagged. There’s no chance Adele would have been able to throw him out at second. Right. Two breaks on that one. One the ball was fought and the other the runner first got this when it’s fouled up with a view level to our right out of play. One is the count on Guriel. Giants are still leading the Dodgers 8-7. That game is in the seventh inning in San Francisco. Here’s the next pitch. Mount Rounded sharply down to third. Could be two. Second for one. Relay to first in the double play. And that is how the inning will end. Buriel gets into the 543 inning ending double play. A run would win it in the bottom of the ninth. That’s where we’re headed tonight at 5 on Angels Radio. It’s presented by Bullet Frontier Whiskey. Well, Hoppy takes the first pitch. That one misses low for ball back. This is a funky lefty boy. Drops down. Just a completely different look. His next pitch. And this is fouled off on the right side. Back and out of play. He was undrafted as an amateur. signed with the Dbacks back in 2021 and rookie ball is hitch and it’s low inside and misses. Two and one to count. Next one on Oh, hoppy. Big cut there. He represents the winning run over there at first base. Reno will be the next batter. We got him right around the right kneecap there. He’s got some protection on the front left side, but not the back side. Yeah, right above the kneecap. Here’s Ren Hippo. And the pitcher batting right takes that one for ball one. Oh, with one of the biggest stolen bases of his career back in the fifth inning came around and scored the run that gave the Angels the lead. Ball two on Redo. Oh, hoppy will have to stop at second as playing the ball in quickly. The center fielder Alec Thomas, but the Angels are in business. A three hit night for Ranipo. He’s been on base four times and Darno is waiting to come in to pinch hit. And Renifo, we talked a lot last year, Renifo a 352 hitter against lefties. This year, well under 200. This is a really good at bat. Just stays on it. Doesn’t try to do too much. Hits it right back up the middle. Peters out there to have a word with Bakus. Darno had some success this season as a pinch hitter for the Angels. Had a pinch hit homer this year. One for four is a pinch hitter. So the meeting is over. A base hit here could win the ball game. You have a hoppy runner at second. You’d like to have a little more speed there. Pitch on Darno. He takes it. It’s on the outside corner for a called strike. Darno having a monster home stand. Four for eight. Couple of home runs, four RBI’s. Here’s the next pitch and he chases that one and misses it. The sweeper breaking ball and the count jumps to 0 and two. Well, you could see his approach was trying to hit that ball to the right side. He let that ball travel as deep as he possibly could. Just misses it. Fielders are at medium depth. Here’s the next pitch. And that’s way outside. One ball, two strikes to count. Brian Zephr jump getting loose in case this game goes to extra innings. Star know in his career has had five walkoff hits. Get one here. Here’s the pitch and he’s taking and that one misses. Two and two. Wow. He sees the ball well. That ball just misses that inside corner. Angels have had five walk-off wins this season. The 2-2 on its way late with the swing. Fouls it off on the right side. Back to the club level out of play. Six-year-old Travis Garnau, the batter. 55 here. Bottom of the ninth. The next pitch. That’s a little pop down the left side. If it drops it, it’s going to be a gate. Darno comes through. Drops it into shallow left field. Angels come away with the victory. Walked off the defects. Darno is the hero for the Angels. Angels win it 65. You can put a halo over this one. Darno is getting mauled right by the mound right now. The hot home stand continues for Travis Darno. We’re just talking about he was looks like he was seeing the ball really well. This is that sweeper and this one he is on it able to just flick it out in that left field corner. Ends this game. Angels walking it off. Wow. Darno continues to swing that hot bat. He was the right guy in the right spot right there tonight for the Angels who come away with the victory tonight here at the Big A. 65 the final as the Angels beat the Dbacks. Fight ball game tonight. A game the Angels saw a pair of leads slip by but end up winning it with the run in the bottom of the ninth inning. And we’ve been talking about certainly for the Angels, the tight ball games kind of play into their favor. Another one-run victory. They are now 18 and 11 in one-run games. All right, Mark, we’re going to take it down. Looks like Trent Rush is standing by with Angels catcher Logan Ohappy. All right, we’re going to give Logan a chance to catch his breath after he just came in to score the winning run. Logan, you had the two most important runs of the game tonight. The go-ahead run in the fifth, the winning run in the ninth inning. also had that stolen base in the fifth inning. The base running was something else tonight. Let’s talk about that last moment where you fought to get on base. You drew the hit by a pitch and then Travis able to bring you in. Scoring the winning run. What’s that feeling like? It’s It’s pretty cool. I haven’t had an opportunity to to do that much in my career and uh that was pretty sick and so happy for Travy coming off the bench like that and uh shows why he’s been doing it for so long and uh we’re really glad to have him, man. Yeah, that was pretty neat. And then as uh Darno gets the shower, Logan, I know you’ve been involved in dropping some of those of late, but now to be able to see this team final series before the All-Star break to go get a win in the series opener coming off a split against Texas. Just describe where this team’s at and how you guys are feeling here in the final weekend of the first half. I said last week that, you know, when even when we’re in games that we don’t have the outcome we want, like we’re at the phase now where we just need to win ball games. Like we’re overseeing good signs. We know what we’re capable of doing. We know we can win games like this that are tough and scrappy and um it’s a good feeling. So focused especially now, but especially in the second half on just winning dayto day. Logan, last thing for me, the stolen base you had in the fifth inning, set up the opportunity to go in and score. I I know that maybe you’re not known for being the the fastest guy in the world. That’s a huge base to take in that spot. Walk me through the mentality and and what you were going through in that spot to be able to get to second. To be honest with you, I’m just trying to get on the board. I had none all year. So, and I I know that know that I can pick my spots to do it and felt pretty good there with uh seeing he had a bigger move to the plate and uh yeah, luckily went my way. All right, Logan. Appreciate the time. Go catch your breath. Thanks. All right, there he goes. There’s Logan O’Hoff winner tonight. Terry Mark, back to you guys. All right, Trent, you asked him some long questions, so saved them a little bit tonight as well. Angels with a thrilling victory. Let me give you the winning totals. And for the Angels tonight, six runs on 12 hits, no errors. The Angels leave 12. The Dbacks had five runs on 11 hits. They commit one error and they end up leaving a total of seven. The winning pitcher is Kenley Jansen. His record is
