Dillon Brooks wants to get Suns back to the playoffs | NBA Summer League

I’m with the newest member of the Phoenix Suns, Dylan Brooks. Dylan, great to be with you. How’d you find out about the trade news? Um, well, I was in uh I was in a spa in Toronto and I got a call and honestly, you know, I felt good. I felt great. Um, I feel like I got new opportunities at hand and um, you know, growing a culture in Phoenix. What excites you about joining this roster, Devin Booker, and the talent that they currently have? the talented score that you need a double team, triple team to stop him. Um the trades that we made for, you know, Mark Williams and, you know, our rookie out there playing. Uh you know, having size, having, you know, shot blockers, you know, to be able to have a lob prep is amazing. And then, you know, we got a lot of good guys that are, you know, ready to show themselves, ready to prove themselves and compete. And I feel like that’s what that’s what Phoenix was missing. Um, and you know, I feel like that’s why they came and got me. They also have a new head coach. What has been your early impressions of Jordan? Um, very humble human being. Uh, wants to learn just as much as I do. Um, you know, had great conversations about basketball, about life. Um, and then we we have we had our our battles. Um, you know, when he was coaching on Cleveland and then he uh in the playoffs when he was on on the Lakers. So, um, you know, I can’t wait to start working with him and, um, starting to get this ship rolling. But they came and got you for a reason. I think it’s fair to say with all the talent that Phoenix has had in the past, they’ve underperformed as a team. How can your play and just your competitive spirit help this franchise? Um, it’s I just hope it’s contagious to, you know, everybody u from the top to the bottom. Um, you know, be able to work hard every single day, compete, um, and think win every single game. Um, like you said, they they had so much talent. Um, and you know, haven’t delivered and you know, I’m here to, you know, deliver. Jaylen Green joins you as part of the trade. He just came off his first playoff appearance. How can he benefit from playing alongside someone like Devin Booker? Um, he can learn. Um, I feel like in the playoffs, you know, he struggled a little bit with Golden State. um how to approach, you know, different defensive coverages and double teams and, you know, different things that, you know, teams can throw at you. And I feel like, you know, Devin or or, you know, Book can help him with that cuz he’s seen everything and just learn and be able to be a sponge and grow, um, you know, through him as well. So, um, you know, having, you know, guys like that on your team, you know, motivate you to be better. And then lastly, just what are your expectations for this upcoming season? I want to make the playoffs, you know. I want to get back right back to, you know, where Phoenix supposed to be. You know, have the, you know, PHX rocket again. Um, and, you know, you know, throw around a little bit and tussle a little bit. Well, we appreciate the time, Glenn. Thank you so much and best of luck this season. Thank you so much. 1. In the playoffs next year
Thunder, Rockets, Nuggets, Mavericks , Clippers, T-Wolves, Spurs, Lakers

Out of the playoffs next year
Jazz, Pelicans, Kings , Suns, Blazers , Grizzlies, Warriors

The West is so stacked, even PHX I don’t see it as a bad roster and can imagine them being better than people expect . I’m sure at least 1 of those teams I picked as the 8 to make it will have injuries and miss the playoffs. Spurs over Warriors is my only somewhat bold pick , if Wemby is generational I think year 3 is the year he enters the mvp conversation.

  2. The one giant mistake the Rockets made was trading this core player. He's culture. Just the only thing that looks like they're looking at their shoes.
