MLB LIVE🔴 Toronto Blue Jays vs Oakland Athletics – Jul 12, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. Major League Baseball on tap. It’s the Toronto Blue Jays going up against the Athletics. First pitch coming your way next. So almost ready to get underway. And on the mound for the A’s in this one, Luis Severino. But Chris, he hasn’t exactly been stellar here on his home mound. Well, I’ll say this, every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark, in front of their fans, in front of the city. And you know, this guy no different. He wants to be more effective here. So, you know, you look at the numbers, they haven’t been great at home. I’m sure he wants to turn that around. and we’ll see if he’s able to start that in this one. Nathan Lucas leading things off but takes a strike. Severino right side and foul ball. kicks and fires. That misses the zone. Going to count one and two. See if you can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one, two, don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt. Swings through that one. It’s a strike out. Oh, that high forcing fast ball has become such a great pitch for pitchers to finish hitters off. They’re trying to stay back with two strikes, make sure that they can handle something off speed and just with good spin rate, good rotation through the zone, elevate it a little bit, get a lot of swings and misses. And that’s a really nice job right there. Out to short, and it gets by him. Wastes no time there. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock and you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. One gone runner at first. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. now and Springer’s in there safely. Severino 31 years old and he was born in the Dominican Republic. Luis swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. man at first one away. Next offering way off the plate right through there for a strike. One ball, two strikes. to short. It could be two and Guerrero is set down. Let’s take a look at the lineup for the Blue Jays. Chris, this is an offense that puts the bat on the ball. Tough outs pretty much throughout the lineup and they have fewer strikeouts than any other team in the league. Yeah, Boo. And I I just remember as a player when you’re going up against a club like this, it keeps you on your toes all game long because you got to make plays for your pitcher on the defense. And so an offense like that can really put some pressure on that defense. So they can swing the bats, put it in play, but I also think if they run the bases hard, it adds another element to their game. Bobette in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Balls outside. Springer at second with two down. You rewind and think back to those Giants teams that won three world titles. They were pretty good contactbased teams. Obviously the Royals as well. It feels like it’s swinging back a little bit towards there’s an advantage to having some hitters in your lineup that make contact. Swing in a liner. base hit out into right center field headed for the plate. He’ll score easily and it’s an RBI single and it’s one- nothing. Always feels good when you come through and get your team on the board first. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy, didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. So up next, Addison Barger. There’s the strike. Here’s your one. Oh, one. Swanging a ball drilled center field. Clark settles under it. Brings it in. And that is that. So, one run in the inning on this base hit. It’s an early one- nothing lead. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here with my pal Singi and today’s starter Max Scherzer. Chris, what are you looking for from him? Well, he’s been a real quality starter for his club and coming into this one, what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year. It seems they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone. So we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one. Bette handles, throws to first, one up, one down. Batting second time now to check out the A’s lineup. Not a whole lot going their way offensively the last few games, Chris. Yeah, Booan. That can put more pressure on the pitching staff to try to limit the opponent to just one or two runs a game knowing that their offense is not scoring right now. And that never really works well because you try to be too fine and you end up giving up a lot of runs. So, we’ll see if everybody can just relax, bring things together, and perform at a level that they’re capable of. Brent Rooker stands in now and watches strike one. That’s off the inside corner. One ball, one strike. Swaging a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. One down. Base is empty. Mad Max notches the K. Came inside with that two strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of his plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put them away. Did a nice job right there. Two out. Space is empty. Right through there for a strike. way inside. Straighten him up a little bit. One ball, two strikes to count. Two balls, two strikes. Little bouncer out in front of the plate. Fires over to Guerrero. The A’s go quietly and the A’s are gone in order. And it remains one- nothing. And we’re back. And now the catcher comes up to him. Alejandro Kirk Severino back to work. Swing and a highf fly ball out towards right field. Brings it in. One away. Batting seventh. Third baseman Will Wagner. And now for the Jays. Will Wagner go, baby, let’s go. Pitch is in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Looks like he’s just sizing him up there. Really good pitch to hit, but he took it all the way. Sometimes guys just want to set their timing later on in the game. That may be a pitch that he turns on. that misses and now it’s even one and one umpiring behind the plate for us today boog is Mike Filillmore and he is a good one he’ll reward pitches on the edges a little bit but the main thing is he doesn’t keep you guessing once he established that a pitch is a strike it stays that way fast is outside yeah Philillmore kind of I don’t know you’d say maybe an umpire’s umpire but really consistent very fair Two-2 now. Grounds one to short. Muny slings to first in time. Betty eight. Second baseman Ernie Clement. Two down. Base is empty. Ernie Clement next up for the Blue Jays. Fast for a strike. Pop foul out of play off to the right. Got him swinging. Nothing do it for the Blue Jays, but they want a one- nothing lead. Bottom of the second and here is Shay Langelers. Catcher Shay Langelers. Let’s go. Max Scherzer goes to work top of the zone for a called strike. Well, we call that keyhole. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. Sherzer deals. That missed by a lot. Now one and two. Ground ball Vlad Jr. He steps on the bag. That’s one out in the bottom of the second. Batting fifth left fielder Tyler Soderstrom digging in. Tyler Soderstrom. This has been a career year for him when it comes to driving in runs. All over that one right there. Just a solid swing right there. Caught it out front and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit. Those always feel great. Here’s Miguel and Duhar. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. So here’s Sherzer. Yeah, that’s fouled off on the ground to third. Wagner and there are two outs. Batting seven shorts stop Maxy. Max my up next for the A’s. Come on, Max. And the first pitch misses for ball one. There’s the strike. Sodroke at second with two down. Breaking ball misses down and away. man at second. This one in the air center field. Straw makes the grab on the run. The A’s strand one. They trail here one- nothing. Top half of the third inning. Here’s the center fielder, Miles Straw. That’s in there. Going one. Fast ball is outside. Next offering is in for a strike. Misses the mark outside the zone. Really good take especially with two strikes. Fights it off. He’ll see another. That one got close. Full countdown and a foul ball. He stays alive. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. That one misses. So, a leadoff walk. Well, that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat. Saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the walk. Very gritty. Back to the leadoff spot in the Blue Jays lineup. Now, here’s the leadoff man for the Blue Jays. Nathan Lucas let off the game with a strikeout. Next offering, pop foul off to the right out of play. Nobody out. Runner at first. Fouled off left side. Severino kick steals and misses inside. That to right. Rooker has this one sized up. Puts it away for the out. One down. Here’s George Springer. Singled and scored his first time. Swing and a foul out of play. upstairs and the count is one and one. Let’s go to baby. Let’s go. Runner on the goal. Pitch in for a strike. Go to second. Just a mechanically sound throw right there. Great footwork, good transfer, quick release, all those things that you need to do. You don’t have to have the highest velocity, but if you can throw it on the money, you can throw out some fast runners. And swinging a miss. That K is his third of the game. Down in order go the Blue Jays, but they still lead it one- nothing. Set for the bottom of the third. Now it’s the second base. base. Zack Gellof Max Scherzer back to work. Swings and misses. Strike one. I think he was sitting off speed there. Next offering is fouled back. One ball, two strikes. It’s a strike out. Second of the game for Mad Max. Finished him off by blowing it by him up high. But they did a really nice job of setting that pitch up. The plan of attack early on was to keep everything down around the knees. So that was a good call to change his eye level and run it by him for the K. And now here’s a speed threat outfielder Denzel Clark. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. That one fouled off. Next pitch is outside. One out. Base is empty. Up the middle. Clement throws to first and two straight set down to begin the bottom of the third. Now batting designated hitter. So the batting order turns over. Lawrence Butler getting ready to hit. Grounded out to short in his first trip. outside with a breaking ball. That one the other way. Bette. Three up, three down. Inning over. Nothing across here this half. Three innings complete. It’s the Blue Jays one and the A’s nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. John Shambi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Blue. right through there for a strike. He’s been pitching well, but going through this middle of the order, second time through, we’ll see what kind of adjustments are being made. And a pop up right side foul territory, has room, and he makes the catch. Bill, that was a pitch you got to crush. Unbelievable that he missed it right there. I’m telling you, he is going to be frustrating with himself until his next at bat. Bob Bishette up to the dish. RBI single his last time off into center and a base hit and they have their first hit since the first inning right there. He does a great job of staying in the big part of the field. Man, there are a lot of hits there. Addison Barger next up for the Blue Jays. Fly to center his first time. Fast for a strike. Bette over at first with one away. Ground ball left side. Could be two. Here’s Gallow for one over to first. Safe. Oh, we talked about how the ball is coming out of the pitcher’s hand. The way it comes out of his hand as an infielder. Wow. Really impressive. Now, in steps the man they call Captain Kirk. Kerr measures 5’8 in 245 lbs and he’s a native of Mexico. And the one and there’s a foul ball. Hit in the air. Center field. Clark under it. He’s got it. And that is that. Blue Jays held in check, but they’re on top one- nothing. And we’re back. And now it’s going to be Brent Rooker. Right fielder. Brent Rooker. on the ground into the outfield base hit. So runner aboard to start the inning. Now that Nick Curts up next for the A’s grounded out his first time. breaking ball in there for a strike. Well, here’s a good opportunity in this inning to get on the scoreboard after that leadoff hit and hardly order coming up right behind him. This is where they need to get going. Fouled off. He was late with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. And now one and two and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside. Really think the outer half is open. Ball two. Line drive down the line and it’s two two down. Fly ball down the line. Barker settles underneath it and there’s one down. Now batting the catcher Shay Langalers. Next to hit Shay Langalers grounded out his first time up. That one misses and that’s ball one. Good purpose pitch right there trying to tease him, get him to raise his sights, pop something up and make it an easy out. misses inside and now two and 0 on the line. Base hit. Quick throw back in. Lead runner holds it second with one gone. He was all over that one. Grine drive to the pole side right there, but he didn’t spin off of it. That’s the key. You still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that. First and second, one out. Tyler Soderstrom digs in now. One for one with a single so far. And that one fouled off. That’s inside. Two on, one out. And a strike on the outside edge. One ball, two strikes. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. He’s back in. Give me that pitch one more time. A hanging change up just out in front. Next offering upstairs. And a swing and a miss. And he’s registered three Ks in this one. Now the third baseman, Miguel Anuhar, grounded out his first time up. in the air out towards right center. Barker on the move into the alley drops into the glove and that is the inning. A strand a couple they still trail one- nothing. Ready now for the fifth inning. Here’s the third base Wagner. Wagner. Severino back to work and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Headed towards the corner. Sodstrom on his way over. Makes the grab. Run away. Outstanding catch right there. And I love the commitment that he showed. knew that the wall was close but was determined to make that catch and a nice calculation of just how much room he had to try to minimize that contact. Clemens in the box for the second time. One ball, no strikes. Swinging a ground ball and it goes just foul. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Clark makes the play out number two. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. The pitcher’s his friend. He’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Straw the next to hit takes ball one to the right side. Gellog third out. So no runs, no hits, no errors, and no one left. Home half of the fifth. Coming up, it’s the Blue Jays one and the A’s nothing. Ready to go for the last half of the inning. Stepping in, Maxy. Maxy, ripped to short. And that’s the first out in the bottom of the fifth. Oh, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Here’s the second baseman, Zack Gellof. He was a strikeout victim his first time. Fouled off down the right side. He’s controlling things out there on the mound. Not messing around at all. He’s been in attack mode since the very start. In there at the knees for a strike. The Jays up by a run. Last half of inning number five. This one in the air. Guerrero. And there’s two down. Oh, that’s a frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter right there. I mean, that pitch was right down the middle. I think he got a little too excited, came out of his mechanics, and instead of driving that ball somewhere, he popped it up. Unfortunate for him. Clark stands in here. Leaves that one off the inside. Here’s a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. He circles the bases. It’s 1 one. That’s exactly what this crowd wanted to see in this spot. He blasted that pitch. Well, he put a really nice swing on that one and everything was on time. Took a direct path to the ball. Excellent extension and just drove it out of here. Nothing better than when the ball jumps off your brow like that. Next up for the A’s, Lawrence Butler. He’s grounded out a couple of times and that is downstairs. Ball one. That one missing inside. Scherzer maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run, Chris. Yeah, it seems that way. You know, pitchers, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch. They’re not trusting their stuff. Brent Rooker in the odd deck circle for the A’s. Well, he’s been good for the most part. Is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit? No, partner. Every pitcher is a little different. I I liken it to you. Sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show. Uh so perhaps it’s the same with him. Nobody really wants their rhythm broken up, but sometimes they need a little pickme up. 3-2. That’s a walk. Went with another change up and missed the spot. Oh, he opted to go with the off speed stuff on that 32 with the bases empty. Close pitch, but now he’s got to work out of the stretch. Runner at first with two away. Now the number two hitter Brent Rooker one for two Tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Barker nabs it and that’ll do it. But we’re all tied up thanks to this solo homer. All even at one a piece. All right, we go to the top half of inning number six. And now for the Jays. Nathan Lucas. And he deals swinging a miss and one. Oh, he’s looking great so far. It helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes. He might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up. Well, these Jays as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate. They’re chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs. Can they turn that around and stay within the zone? We’ll see. But I think they have to. Now batting designated hitter George Springer. Forehead run on base and the batter is George Springer. Singled and scored back in the first. He’s one for two. That one a little bit high. One and0. Runner on the go. Bounding ball here. Rolls. foul. And there’s the ball. Homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit. Swings and misses at the sweeper. Very high with that one. Full count now. call on this count. Runner not known for his speed, but I think you got to put him in motion. Try to avoid a double play here. Boo and ball four, two aboard. Perfect. Base knock and now a free pass. This has the makings of a big inning if they can get a couple more quality at bats. Here’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. I’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound. This guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year. And that’s in for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. Big at bat right here with an opportunity to do damage. But on the flip side, ground ball, double play, strike out. That could get the inning back under control on the mound. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. The Athletics have some bullpen action. Number 49 appears to be getting ready. And I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Nukem also throwing line drive and that is a big first down. Now Eddie shorts stop Bo Bashette. Bo Bashette gets a chance to hit at the dish looking to lift the ball in the air in this spot. Anything but the inning ending double play. Boo. Yeah, there’s the strike. Well, in this situation with runners on, you got to get ahead in the count so that you can dictate the rest of the at bat. Nice job right there. next offering is in for a strike. All right. Now, he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire’s calls, but at this point, he’s going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the zone. Oh, he hit him and that got him pretty flush. He had two strikes on him. Eddie, manager out of the dugout now. And he will make a move to dip into the A’s bullpen. Luis Severino won’t go any further tonight. And that was a start he can feel pretty good about. Tie ball game and new pitcher when we get back. Now pitching. So a new pitcher on the mound for the A’s. JP Sears. Well, no margin for error in terms of throwing strikes with the bases loaded. Just has to execute one pitch at a time to try to get out of this. So digging in Addison Barger. Golden opportunity right here. Tap foul at the plate. That’s a strike. OMG getting a little frustrated with the strike zone and foul ball outside low. It’s a ball and two strikes. Way to lay off that pitch down. Highf fly ball lifted into near right field. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out and there are two outs. I understand the base is loaded. Start licking your chops thinking you can hit a four bagger but really have to be disciplined and not let the pitcher off the hook. Here’s the catcher. Alejandro Kirk for two in this one. Fast ball for a strike. Tough situation right here. So important as a pitcher to get ahead in the count as he did right there. That one outside and one and one and misses inside. Look, in situations like these, the air can get really thin up there at the plate. Got to find a way to breathe and slow everything down. Next pitch in for a strike. Two and two with the go ahead run at third. And we’re the top half of the six. Swing and a fly ball in the air out towards right center field. squeezes it and that’s the third out. So a strong showing here from the A’s bullpen. Hard in the order 345 coming up. All tied 1-1. Bottom of the six. And now the first base Nick Curts. First baseman Nick Curts. Right through there for a strike. You know, these athletics, simply put, are producing a lot of quality swings. They’ve hit seven line drives already, and even though some of them have been for outs, there’s nothing wrong with delivering consistent hard contact. That’s almost always going to lead to positive results. Breaking ball through there for a strike. Next pitch is outside. And that one is inside. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Sherzer winds, kicks, fires, and a swing and a miss. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Well, that’s a blue zone right there or the cold zone on the hitting chart. Just doesn’t have much success in that part of the strike zone. And a really good job of the pitcher executing. Try to go there as often as you can. The numbers are in your favor. Langalers in the box again takes the strike. This game has been so tight. Feels like the next team to score will win it. One action in the pen down there. Braden Fiser, the rookie right-hander, is getting loose. Little also getting ready. A one, two count. All he’s seen as fast balls. You’ve got to expect something off speed. Stay back. Up the middle in plenty of time to first. And that quickly two away. Up next for the A’s, left fielder Tyler. Next up for the A’s, Tyler Soderstrom. Pitch is in the dirt and that is ball one. Well, a mistake right here could untie this ball game. If you’re the pitcher out there, you just want to be a little more cautious. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the sixth. The other way and foul ball. Shers are ahead one and two. Got him looking. That’s a strike out. Three up, three down for him there. Seventh inning coming up. All tied 1-1. Now pitching for number 49 will take over here. 49 Will Wagner leading off for Toronto. Third baseman Will Wagner. Baby to the right side. Tosses to the pitcher covering the bag. That’s the first out in the top of the seventh. Up next for the Blue Jays. Second baseman Ernie Clement. Ernie Clement. Next up for the Blue Jays. Swinging a ball hit out towards left center field. Grabs it on the run. Two down. Up next for the Blue. So up next for Toronto, Miles Straw. He’s 0 for one. And it’s fouled away. Fast ball for a strike. This guy’s not wasting any pitches. Hitters got to get into swing mode. This is a good time to expand the zone. Throw something maybe down in the dirt. Next offering misses down and away. The guy at the plate could recognize Slider out of the hand. Didn’t stay in the tunnel very long in terms of depth and perception. He knew right away it was an off speed pitch. Two outs. Cut on and missed. And it’s a strikeout. And that is the inning. One, two, three, go. The Blue Jays. Score remains tied 1-1. Now pitching four. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Braden Fiser. Well, he’s got electric stuff coming out of the pin. His strikeout rate though is through the roof so far this season. So digging in Chris baseball today. So many strikeouts and they are available to pitchers. But this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball and is kind of different from the players that we see day in day out. Yeah. His swing is so good. It’s in the zone a long time. He gets the barrel to it a lot and that produces more base hits. Down the line. It’s a base hit. The lead off single and the go ahead run is aboard to second. Pulls him off the bag. went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. Ripped that one down the line and kept it fair. And even when you hit it that far out front, you still have to keep your hands tight to your body so you don’t hook around that baseball and put it in foul territory. And that right there was perfect. Now that sets up a huge at bat in this ball game. Maxy will hit next. And there’s the strike. Just missed. swing and a miss as he chases that one darting out of the zone. Two straight gets a piece and stays alive. Down to the dirt swing and a miss. gets him one away on a drop third strike. Nice job behind the plate there. So now the injury forcing a substitution at second base on the pinch run Gio Urella. So the go-ahehead run in scoring position. Next up for the A’s, Zack Gill. This one in the air. Wagner pulls it down and there’s two gone. Now batting center fielder Denzel Clark. Denzel Clark up next for the A’s. He’s already homerred in this game. and fouled off. Line drive down the line and it’s foul. That misses ball one. O2 fast ball way out of the zone. I think he’s trying to speed him up. Got to stay back. Off speed’s probably coming. The one two lifted in the air right center field. Barker sizes this one up and that ends the inning. The A’s strand one. Score remains deadlocked at one. And welcome back to the ballpark. We go to the eighth. Here’s the left fielder Nathan Lucas. Check. Swing. Hit on the ground. Urchella tosses across the first. Lead off man is out here in the eighth. Nice job of deception right there by the pitcher. Got the hitter out there a little bit. Couldn’t check his swing and induces a nice little ground out. And it’ll be George Springer to step to the plate. That one misses and it’s one and0. The A’s bullpen has some movement. Mason Miller, the hardthrowing righty, is up and loosening. Nukem getting loose as well. That pitch gets the corner and a count one and one. All tied up and we’re in the top of the eighth on the ground to short. Zips it to first. Two up, two down here in the top of the eighth. Now that is the first baseman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Now here is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 0 for three in this one. And that’s downstairs. And that’s ball one to go, baby. Let’s go on the ground to the left. And that’s just foul. bring them home. And that’s downstairs and outside. You get to this part of the order. Yeah, there’s some pop there, but more likely there’s some base hits. So, very important to be patient. Let the pitcher walk you if you will to third. And it goes just foul. Got him swinging. And the Blue Jays go down one, two, three. Three up, three down that time. Home half of inning number eight. Straight ahead. All tied 1-1. Now pitching four. New pitcher now for the Jays. Brendan Little bringing in the lefty with the left-handed hitter coming up to hit. Classic bullpen move right here. So, we’ll see how it works out. Back to the top of the order. Now, here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s, Lawrence Butler. Lawrence Butler. Swing and a taper that rolls foul. That’s a little bit low. Makes the catch. One down. Now batting right fielder Brent Rooker. Now here is Brent Rooker. One for three. First pitch misses. Toronto’s bullpen with some action. Chad Green preparing to come on if needed. Fought off. Foul. Late swing. Fouled off. Hats and misses. It’s a strikeout. Well, obviously that was nowhere near the strike zone by the time it got to the plate. People at home watching are thinking, “What’s he swinging at?” But I’ll tell you, some of the break guys snap off these days is just devastating. It can be so tough to recognize where a pitch like that’s going to end up. Nick Curts getting ready to hit. 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strikeout. That misses the zone. And that’s ball one. swing and a miss. Strike one. I got one ball, one strike and one and two. This guy’s sink has so much drop in it. It’s almost like a split finger fast ball. Instead of just weak contact and balls on the ground, he gets swings and misses. And that’s in the dirt. Stays alive. That’s out to center field. Straw makes the catch in and over. And one, two, three go the A’s. Still tied 1-1. Now pitching. Welcome back. And here comes the closer, Mason Miller. He has a great slider with tons of movement. Bo Bashet in the Blue Jays. Shortstop Boet. Yeah, that’s too high. That was absolute gas. Triple digits on the gun. It’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by. Swing and a miss. missed that by a mile. And it’s one and one and that one fouled off. Two balls, two strikes. That one missed. Addison Barger in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Swinging a highf fly ball deep left field. That’s back. Pulls it in on the warning track. Now, right builder. So, up next, Addison Barker. 101 on the gun. Swing and a miss. The Athletics have some bullpen action. Jacob Lopez, their rookie left-hander, appears to be getting going. Swing and a miss. There’s that change up. A little anxious, a little aggressive early in the count. Too much for me. The next offering misses. One and two. The count and that’s down and away. That’s a really good take. Base is empty. One away. You’re in the top of the ninth. Almost got him. Cuts. She misses. It’s a strike out. Man, he got a real good pitch to hit right there with two strikes. You cannot miss that. a great slider at all. And I tell you what, that’s where you’ve got to do damage. He looked like he was on time getting the bat through the zone, but he just caught air. And here’s the catcher, Alejandro Kirk late with the swing there. All one’s the count. swing and a pop off in foul ground. Urella makes the play and it’s out number three. Nothing doing here this half. Onto the bottom of inning number nine. 456 coming up. All tied 1-1. Back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the ninth. Chad Green. Well, home runs have been a problem this year. Not doing a great job keeping the ball in the yard so far this season. So, we’ll see if that factors in. And now here’s the A’s catcher Shay Langalers. Catcher Shay Langalers. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Movement in the Blue Jays bullpen. Jeff Hoffman, the closer is getting loose. Oh, and two now as he swings through it. I’d say that stayed in the tunnel for a long time. No chance of even fouling it off. And a swing and a miss. A huge out to start the bottom of the ninth. Well, when you throw the same pitch back to back, that’s how you want to do it. Set him up in the strike zone, then extend a little bit from there and see if you can get him to chase. Nicely done with the slider right there. Tyler Soderstrom now at the plate and that’s through there for a strike. Go and one. A’s looking to put the go-ahead run on base. That one’s in there. And the count is 0 and2 the count. That one is absolutely Belgium. And in one hops the wall, makes it to second. The winning runs in scoring position with one gone. Everything came together perfectly for him right there. A well-deserved double on a great swing. Got everything going on time. He stayed balanced and he squared it up about as well as you could possibly ask. Really important at bat coming up now. Giorella steps in. Entered the game as a pinch runner. First plate appearance for him here. And that’s in for a strike. One away and the game-winning run stands at second. Swing and a miss and it’s nothing in two. Well, you got the hitter already chasing that nasty slider. If you’re on the mound, you just want to expand the zone right now. Get a swing and miss and get through this at bat. the winning run on second base and that one is downstairs and it’s one and two. Well, if he’s going to do something special right here, it’s going to have to happen with two strikes. Fouls it off. Still one and two. And there’s a ball. Two strike. Next offering misses and it’s three and two. Max my in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. One away. The winning run at second. Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. goes down looking. I don’t know what he’s looking for right there. You have to be ready to swing the bat. You can walk it off if you’re just a little more aggressive. Looks like it’ll be a pinch hitter. Jacob Wilson looking for a two out hit with a runner in scoring position. Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. trying to send this extra innings in the air out towards left center. Brings it in and that will end the inning. So, they can’t come up with the winning run and that means we’ll have to go a little longer here tonight to find a winner. All tied 1-1. And we’re back now. The third base will wag at second. Nobody out. And Chris certainly one of the things in his head is trying to get the runner over. Yeah. The way that we see the game played today though, guys are not sacrificing as much just to get that runner across. They’re really looking at doing damage. Slugging is the name of the game. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Yeah, I think part of that goes into it’s just so hard to come up with hits in today’s game. Starters don’t go deep and so hitters are seeing multiple pitchers every night and that makes it more challenging just to come up with a single. And that is out of play. And that one’s a little bit low. And the count’s full. Ernie Clement in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Ball four. He walked in and that keeps things going. Well, they didn’t give him anything to hit and now with runners on first and second, they’ve set up a double play opportunity. So, not a terrible result. First and second, no outs. Now at the plate, Ernie Clement 0 for three with two flyyous and a strikeout. And that one fouled off. and downstairs. Next offering upstairs. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. Next offer in there for a strike. Two and two. Just a really nice slider down and in there. He wants to get the hitter thinking fast ball. Speed him up and just subtract some velocity and add a little movement. And the breaking ball misses outside. Miles Straw in the Onex circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Line drive base hit and they’re happy to play station to station right here. Base is loaded, nobody out. So they hold the runner at third wanting to play it safe. Think that comes back to bite him. Boy, it’s hard to say. That runner on second to start extras is critical and you want to make sure you don’t waste him. They don’t score this inning and there’ll be some second guessing for sure. And here is Miles Straw. Puts a bunt down. Kurts to the plate for one to first. Safe there. So no double play, but they cut down the run at home. Nathan Lucas. Nathan Lucas next up for the Blue Jays. Well, all eyes on the double play ball in this spot. No better way to get out of this inning. Missed with a change up. Ball one. Ball one. No strike. Let’s go defense. Swinging a foul out of play. So they’re all loaded up. Next pitch is outside. Tap foul at the plate. Keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Battling here as he fouls it away. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. And that one lifted in the air. Center field. Clark gets under it. Makes the grab. Runner tags from third. Ro cut off now to the plate. Not in time. He beat it and they’ve got the lead. Oh, that can be a tough one with the bases loaded. You can try to do too much, but there he didn’t. He stayed within himself. He got that run in with the sack fly. Would have been nice if the runners behind could have advanced, but they’ll take what they got. Here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Mason Miller won’t go any further and he leaves in a one-run game. New pitcher coming on. We’ll be back in a minute. now pitching for the So, a new pitcher on the mound for the A’s, Jacob Lopez. Just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. So, now here’s the DH Springer. Springer didn’t always look promising, but they can still take this series with a win. And that’s in for a strike. The A’s bullpen has some movement. Elvis Alvarado getting ready to go. Nukem, the left-hander, also throwing. Clement the lead runner out at second. Straw at first. Two out of the inning. Now one and one. I got a ball. One strike. Just missed. It’s a big opportunity right here. But I love the way he’s slowing the game down. He’s shrinking his zone, making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit. That one fouled off. Two and two. Two on, two outs. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side. Kurts puts it away. And that is that. Two men left stranded, but they do push across one. Last chance to even things up. We head to the bottom of inning number 10. Blue Jays two and the A’s one. We’re back and on the mound is the closer Jeff Hoffman. Well, he’s been hit pretty hard at times this season as you see with the big erra. So, this is an important outing for him to get on the right track. runner in scoring position. No outs. And now here is Zack Gellof. Well, comfortable or not, these are the situations closers they seem to live for. I mean, you get into some hot water, a jam, tough spot, whatever you want to call it, but this is where they earn their keep. So, the tying run at second. swings and misses and a count one and two now. One missed and it remains two and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Well, that right there is what you want to see out of your closer. Come in and close the door, cancel any hope that that opponent has in making some type of comeback in the ball game. Tell you what, that helps him settle in and that helps everybody else relax a little bit to get these other two outs. Clark in the box now. Takes strike one. line drive and power ball with the winning run at the plate. The home team trying to pull it out. That’s towards center. Makes the grab. Two down. All season long he’s racked up a number of saves and sometimes the adrenaline doesn’t get high enough until there’s a runner or two on base. So it’s their last chance in this one. And now Lawrence Butler trying to deliver as the hero and that one almost hit him. a onerun lead and here in extra innings just about gives his skipper a heart attack but that’s where he functions best. Soft contact in the air and he’s got it. Ball game and the Blue Jays strand the tying run on base to win it. Well, this is a big win on the road and going extras into 10. Uh so hard to pull those out, but I think this team did a great job of keeping the crowd out of the ball game late. When you can do that, it kind of calms everything down, keeps the adrenaline of the opposing team down a bit, and you can steal a win and get out of here happy. What the move?

My grandson is there at the game with his uncle. Elias is from Clearlake and this is his first game ever.
WHAT DO PITCHING COACHES GET PAID FOR?.. THERE WAS NO DISCIPLINE AT ALL ON THE PART OF BLUEJAYS BATTERS IN THE 8th INNING OF THIS GAME..I DO NOT CARE FOR THE BLUEJAYS COACHING STAFF IN GENERAL..THEY SEEM TO HAVE A LOSING PERSONALITY AS A WHOLE… NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS COACHING STAFF..COLLECTING CHECKS SEEMS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ACTUALLY COACHING THE GAME…
