Jeremiah Fears | Pelicans-Lakers Postgame Interview | 2025 NBA Summer League

for you. What’s the biggest thing you think you can take away from these first two summer league games? Um, just continue to kind of get my team back on the right track. Um, we started off, we started off 0 and2, so just continue to keep talking to them, keep being vocal, watch some more film, get a better understanding of our team, our chemistry, and try to get this next one. And, uh, I mean, even when the shots weren’t falling, you just kept playing downhill. How much is that kind of part of your identity as a player, wanting to get into the paint regardless? Um, just continue to stay aggressive. I mean, when you stay aggressive, everything else will open itself up. So, continue to stay aggressive and do everything I can to try to help my team win. Speaking of that resilience, um, and and that fearlessness that you play with, how is it challenging, um, to kind of open your mind and stay aggressive? Was that a challenge? Um, it was when I was younger, but I kind of started to figure it out. So, just continue to do what I do. Go out there, stay aggressive, continue to make plays for myself, make plays for everybody else, and just go try to get the win at the end of the day. have 28 minutes, no assists for the point guard. Is that concerning to you or you going next game you start looking to get everybody else? I mean, it’s it’s it’s basketball. Um, next game is we’re going to be we’re going to be a lot better. Um, we going to make our shots and we just go continue to play hard. How do you approach being respectful of older guys like when you get a rookie year, dudes you might play 2K with, but also trying to take that off that balance, right? going out there and competing. Um, at the end of the day, you step on the court, you’re not there to make friends. So, going out there and competing every time you step on the court. Jeremiah, is that is that like you enjoy that? You enjoy going at that’s got to make the pro competitive level. Yeah, it does. Um, that’s kind of why I started playing the game, just for the love of the game and going out there and competing and playing hard every time I step on the court. Jeremiah, obviously saw a lot of Ronnie James against you tonight. What was that match up like in response to what you saw against? Um Ronnie’s great. He he was he was very vocal for his team today. Uh they end up getting a getting a win today, but next time he’s up on the court, it’s going to be a different outcome. Derek has two double doubles the first two games. What do you think of just the way he’s played so far? And just seems like you you can when you watch him like he plays at his own pace and he’s been able to get to the basket a lot. He does. Um playing at his own pace, that’s what make his game unique. um you don’t see bigs being able to do that them slow steps and get to those spots and handle the ball the way he does. So just continue to do what he do. U we going to continue to keep supporting him and cheer him on. Um and keep telling him don’t get down on yourself is you it’s the start of the season and this just to get your feet underneath you. G was kind of joking after the first game that like yo you could tell Jeremiah is from Chicago. How much do you think your personality kind of is reflected in your game? Yeah um a lot. Um, just being out there, uh, being a tough nose guard, not backing down from nobody and going at everybody. Your game resembles Jordan Pool a lot. Have you got a chance to talk to him? Um, I’ve talked to Jordan P maybe once or twice since he since he’s got traded. So, just continue to stay in touch. Um, continue to keep giving me advice as well. What’s the evolution in your game? What’s What’s the evolution in your game? Where do you want to take? Um, just continue to be vocal. I’m playing with a lot of older guys, so trying to get them to trust me and believe in me. Get them to trust me. How do you go about building their confidence? Um just going out there competing against them and obviously um at the end of the day they going they going to respect it and then once we step on the court together it’s going to be it’s going to be it’s going to be great for sure. Jeremiah you you know had a pool take earlier this weekend talking about what you want to reach in your career ahead to this next season. What are those top goals for you going into the next year? Um going out there and winning trying to win every single game. um make my teammates better and make myself better as well as my rookie year. So, I know I’m I’m I know I got a lot to learn. So, continue to go out there and compete.

  1. The guy who challenged Fears with the 0 assists question was great. Those the questions these guys need to be challenged with. Need him to ask Queen about his defensive effort and stopping the ball on offensive possessions.

Sn: I didnt love Fears answer to that question. He didn't have 0 assists because guys missed shots. He had 0 assists because he wasnt looking for his teammates and instead was forcing up shots for himself. Way too much iso ball from him and Queen today, which rubbed off on the rest of the team that caused everyone to iso when they finally got a touch. He's young, he'll learn.

  2. This dude is 18….

He has a lot to learn, but we can see what he's capable of. Pels need someone he can learn from.

  3. I like Fear's spirit and competitiveness, it's learning process for him at 18 years of age; I don't expect to him know the NBA speed and aggressiveness right away; So hopefully the coaching staff will emphasize ball movement; it will be the team success in remaining of summer league; with only 3 more games left…. once they learn that ISO (recognize a mismatch) on ball will work in only certain circumstances; however, ball and team movement is the key to easier buckets; (not standing around watching each other…) spacing and moving ball or cutting to the basket….

SMH, seeing no team assist in 2nd half is unheard of; when the greats had figured out how to pass the ball and making their teammates better, they won championships… example; M. J. involved Scottie Pippen in passing to him when drawn by double teams; Another example, look at Nikola Jokic, when he figured out how to pass to other teammates, they won a championship…

i pray they all figure it out……
