Shaq post move vs David Robinson (1998)

  1. Shaq was so god damn ridiculous. No way a monster like that should be able to move the way he did.

  2. First off. Thanks. I hate it.

More importantly, all the people who think Shaq was just big with no skill, come look at this.

The ability to turn speed and footwork into power is insane in this clip.

  3. David Robinson himself was a freak of nature athlete*. 7 feet, built like a superhero, strong, fast for his size, mobile. You’d think he’d have a chance against Shaq but this is the clip that proves otherwise.

Oh well. David won the scoring title over Shaq one year (because his teammates fed him the ball ala Kobe’s last game).

  4. Shaq was so fucking agile. Not just for his size, but in general. A lot of star bigs look slow-footed in comparison to him.

  5. If you ever wondered why Shaq has the ego he does, it’s cuz he deserves it.

  6. I mean damn man. There’s just nothing anyone can do. Even David being one of the tallest most athletically fit people ever couldn’t stop this.

  7. I remember downloading this dunk as a mov file from nba.com, back then streaming wasn’t a thing.

  8. This is why young people that didn’t see Shaq’s whole career have no idea what a force he was. That was David effing Robinson he did that to.

  9. The one thing people miss about shaq is how aggressive he was. A guy like embiid could do this but isn’t wired physically to do it. Shaq was wouldn’t just occasionally do this. He would do it almost every game where he’d just drop step and dunk on guys.

  10. Peak Shaq was the most dominant player of all time. If we ever get another player of his size with his skill and agility, they would take over the league.

  11. Imagine prime Shaq in today’s game, especially when you have teams that play smaller

  12. Shaq would absolutely feast on the “bigs” of today that have zero weight or strength to speak of. Even lean rookie Shaq had 80 pounds on Chet and 50 pounds on Wemby.

  13. Shaq’s legacy is complicated, they literally had to change the rules of the game to lesson his dominance, ridiculously gifted, I think what complicates it is his lack of effort in the off season, he had enough talent to dominate without putting in the extra effort though, but there will always be a question in my mind about what he left on the table, could he have been the goat?

  14. I may have not seen jordan in peak but was young enough to see prime 2000-02 shaq.. just a true force of nature in the post like we have never seen and may never will

  15. Man I forgot how ballet like Shaq could be. He wasn’t all power and footwork

  16. Crazy to me how underrated he is these days. For some reason, Kobe gets almost all of the credit and Shaq gets very little for that Lakers run. People forget that Shaq was the dominant force in the NBA that everyone wondered how they could get past for many years in the league. The fact that he only got one MVP is an absolute joke.

  17. This is why he is so dismissive of current players. He knew who he was back then and we all know too, but the current guys don’t realize that prime Shaq was decimating hall of famers week after week. He would have eaten any current player alive. Imagine embiid or Giannis dealing with the guy in this video.

  18. What’s crazy is David Robinson is like insanely ripped too and Shaq just babied him
