  1. Great fastball, love the intesity. Not sure if he'll be able to hang in as a starter, throws max effort on every pitch. Long term may be as a closer an innings eater out of the bullpen.

  2. Could he possibly be a future ace for the Cardinals? They haven't had a legit ace (a Hall of Fame caliber pitcher) since Bob Gibson was last in his prime in the EARLY 1970's.

  3. This has me as excited as a Cardinals fan. Last Cardinal that had me like this was Rick A coming through the minors. Possible top 3 starter or a devasting closer, those are my expectations for this young man. A lefty with velo makes me smile.

  4. The way this guy pitches you might as well get the Tommy John’s surgery scheduled because he will need it within the first 3 years guaranteed so you can bet it will be atleast 4 years before we see him in a Cardinals uniform.

He just turned 21 so we will won’t see him until he’s 25. While his Fastball is very good his other pitchers are below average. While a great FB might be enough to allow you to succeed in College ball and maybe even into AA-Ball. There’s no fastball good enough to fool big league hitters or consistent basis. If he was 18 yo I could see him still having enough time to improve those secondary pitches but at 21 and still having below average secondary pitches. I’ll be genuinely surprised if he becomes any more than a journeyman bullpen arm who has a career 4+ ERA and no one remembers his name.

Bad pick? Not at all but a bad pick for the slot??? Absolutely but it’s right on par with the decision is franchise makes.
