MLB LIVE🔴 Arizona Diamondbacks vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 13, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

All right, just about ready for baseball and starting this one. You say Kikuchi and Singi, he likes pitching at home. Well, truly for him, there is no place like home. He’s been so dominant here. And as a teammate, you expect him when pitching at home this year to go out and dominate just as he has. the fans expected and I think everyone around here knows that he’s a good pitcher. Even though we don’t see the same splits on the road, we’re going to start to see that translate as well. Now, a highf fly ball out to left center. Adele sizes this one up. Nabs it one away. Time to take a look at the Diamondbacks lineup. This group was shut out their last game, so we’re going to see if they can bounce back with a better effort here today. And Boo, it can get in your head a little bit when you get shut out. You’re frustrated. You’re seeing that consecutive streak of innings you haven’t scored and you want to get off to a great start, score early because if you don’t, you feel like it could linger into two consecutive games, which no one wants to be a part of. Corbin Carroll stands in now and watches strike one. One out, base is empty. comes up empty and today is draft day. Cindy an exciting day in terms of the future of the sport and the future of these teams. It’s also changed a lot in terms of the immediacy of finding out. I mean, what was it? Carrier pigeon was how you found out about being drafted back when you were selected, right? Well, fans today may not realize because we have, you know, such exposure on the internet and and network sports and everything else. You find out right away. But when I was drafted back in 1993, that one way inside. Straighten him up a little bit. One down. Base is empty. Right side. Ranifo slings to first. Two gone now. Lordis Gore Jr. And it’s Lordis Goreiel Jr. He’s got pop, which is a little sneaky because he’s so comfortable with taking his base hits to the opposite field, but he can jump you if you make a mistake. The pitch. Griel gets a piece. Two outs. Base is empty. Instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended, tied him up a little bit. Slightly up, slightly in. And that’s outside. And a count. Two and one. Just missed. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Cut on and miss. And it’s a strikeout. And that is the inning. Nothing doing for Arizona. Now the Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. Back after this on the show. Back here at Angel Stadium. And on the hill, Zack Gallen. And Singi. We were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, you can see his whip is a little above the league average. Not bad, but I think in this one he’s going to need to control that a little bit better. Try to limit hitters from getting on base. Stay in that wind up instead of the stretch. And when he does allow base runners, be able to throw a pitch, he’s going to get a swing and miss, get out of the inning so that a base hit doesn’t do more damage and put his team behind the eightball. The short stop takes the ball. good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. And that one off the outside edge. And there’s a ball. One strike. That one misses. So a lead off walk. Well, he tried to nibble right there and just missed his spot. Hitter didn’t offer at it. Now he has somebody to worry about over at first. Nolan Showwell the next to hit for the Angels. Tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. Next pitch is outside. 1-1. [Applause] That’s to third. Here’s Mare for one. On to first. Double play. They made that double play look so easy, but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big leaguers. They make tough plays look simple. Trout. Here’s Mike Trout. Pitch misses there. And that’s ball one. [Music] And he gets that fast ball by him upstairs. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. And a breaking ball misses outside. struck him out looking. Angels go quietly there. We played an inning. They’ll score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Now the third base, Au Heno Suarez. Oh, he’s been having a great year this year and hitting home runs at a good clip and the matchup is very favorable. Kikuchi back to work. Chopped to third. Moncata tosses to first, one out in the second. Batting fifth, first baseman Josh Naylor. And now it’s Josh Naylor taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away. And you’ve got to produce at the big league level. And that drops in for a strike. Dangerous spot for that slider right there. didn’t seem to quite finish out front and get that sharp break. Tell you what, he doesn’t want to throw that pitch again. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. [Music] [Applause] Foul ball still 0 and two and that skips in the dirt. Yeah, and that’s in the dirt. Second inning here. No score. And he couldn’t hold back. He’s rung up on strikes. Batting six. Two down, base is empty. Randall Gritic now. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Gritic measures 6’2 in 215 lbs. He joined the team as a free agent ball 1-1. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Swings and blasts one deep to left center. This looks like extra bases around first, heading for two. And he starts his afternoon off right with a double. He was all over that one. Got a fast ball middle of the plate. Jumped all over it. Absolutely smoked that ball. Runner in scoring position now. And a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. James McCann in now. He’s been a great free agent side. That one catches the zone. It’s 0 and one. Come on, Angels. Here we go. Angels in the air. Left field down the line. It’s going to fall for a hit. Run. Scores easily and it’s one- nothing. Mission accomplished there as he picks up the RBI to give him the lead. That’s a ball that a lot of times you’ll see the shorts stop or left fielder be able to get to if it hangs up in the air long enough. But right there, it just died and found a way to drop in on the green stuff for the base hit. Alec Thomas now. There’s the strike. [Applause] [Music] Two outs. He swings and fouls one off. [Music] [Applause] And now one and two. McCann off of first with two away. [Applause] goes down looking, but they pick up one run on the RBI single. It’s now one- nothing. You’re dialed into the show. And we’re back. Bottom of the second now. The left fielder Taylor Ward singing. When the year’s over, he’ll have a new careerhigh for RBI’s in a season. Gallon cites the fact that as a kid, he had small hands and that allowed him to develop his change up. Still a really good pitch for him now as a major leager. Breaking ball misses down and away. One ball, no strike. Late on that fast ball. I think he was sitting off speed there. Joe McDonald doing the home play duties here. Well, Joe is an interesting one. I’m always trying to figure out what exactly his zone is. Feels like it kind of moves around from game to game, sometimes inning to inning. That one almost got him. Two ball, two strike. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. Man aboard on the leadoff single. That is fifth center. Here’s Joe again. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. [Applause] Late swing fouled off. Tying run is at first. Bottom half of inning number two. That catches the top part of the zone. That’s strike two. in the dirt. Nice job behind the plate there. [Applause] And a foul ball. He stays alive. Nobody out. Runner at first. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. couldn’t hit the fast ball at the knees. He came out of his mechanics there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time little anxious. Here comes Yan Mona. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Man at first, one away. And that misses two and 0. Swinging a foul out of play. This guy’s seen two change ups in a row. Could be a little vulnerable for a fast ball right here. Light drive and foul ball. Right back to the mound. Could be an easy two. Goes to second for one. What a double play that was. Inning over. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. We head on down to the top of the third. It’s the Diamondbacks one and the Angels nothing. All set for the start of the matter will be the shortstop Heraldo Peromo. And that one fouled off. ball. That’s down. Next one misses. Now two balls in a strike. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. With that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. fouls one off. Two and two. Swings. He misses. Struck him out. Pretty simple plan of attack on the mound right there, huh? Yeah. Nothing but fast balls. They just kept putting down the number one and letting it fly. I like it. Yeah, me too. And I’d love to hit against that. But of course, when you’re in the box, you think he’s bound to change speeds on you at some point. You’re just kind of locked up. Sort of like reverse psychology. Back to the top of the lineup now. It’s the second baseman, Catel Marte. First pitch, and that’s in for a strike. [Applause] Hey Oh, this guy’s so comfortable hitting with two strikes. Even a good pitch early in the at bat, if he’s not ready to pull the trigger, he’s not worried if he gets to an 02 count. Fans another. And that’s three straight strikeouts. Backto back strikeouts to start the frame. And that’s now three in a row. Yeah, he’s really settling in and getting a feel for his pitches, throwing them where he wants to right now. So, we’ll see how long he can keep this streak going. Carol in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. [Applause] Swaging a popup foul out of play off to the right side. That’ll find the stands. Little early on that fast ball. I’m sure the pitcher taking a note. Look for an off speed. make it four strikeouts in a row. Just cruising along. Diamondbacks down quickly, but they lead it one to nothing. Set for the bottom of the third. Jorge Soler up at the plate. right fielder Jorge Solair and ball one [Applause] in the air center field. Thomas gets under it and there’s one down. Batting eight, catcher Travis. So, here’s Darnell with one out. And a foul ball. One down. Base is empty. on the ground. Suarez throw to first in time and they got him. Batting ninth, second baseman, Luis Reano. Luis Reanifo the next to hit. That one pushed foul. [Music] That one back up the middle and it gets through. So a two out knock keeps the inning alive. Really nice job staying up the middle with his approach. He didn’t try to do too much with the pitch. Just shot it through the infield. Back to the top of the Angels lineup. And next for the Angels, Zack Neto. He reached out a walk his first time. Close one. doesn’t get the call. Ball one. No strikes. Two outs. That’s a strike. This guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. No. [Applause] And the 2-1 hammered but foul. Ball three in the dirt. Blocked. Count. Nolan Shanowell in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. [Applause] And ball four to a board. Well, a breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. First and second, two outs. Nolan Shanuel the next to hit for the Angels. He’s 0 for one. That pitch in for a strike and one. Well, the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count. He cannot afford to go deep in the counts. doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff, so he’s going to have to work efficiently. Chopped to first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. So, it’s no runs on a hit, no errors, and two are left. Three innings complete. It’s the Diamondbacks one and the Angels nothing. Back in Anaheim, John Shi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Lordis Goreel Jr. [Music] Fast is outside. 10 And it goes just foul. Swing and a miss. Going to count one and two. The baseball’s coming out of his hand very well. He’s been able to paint all four corners, but really good ride. Ah, that hit him. And the leadoff man is aboard to start the inning. Auo Suarez up to the plate now. rounded out his first time. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Suarez working on a massive campaign right now, putting up some big home run numbers. Swinging a foul straight back. Well, we’ve seen him flex some impressive power this season and there’s still a lot of time to go. If he can keep up this pace he’s on, we could be in for something really special. Ruer at first with no outs here. That’s a ball. Strike him out. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Oh, really went aggressive in with that slider. Good two strike pitch right there. At worst case scenario, it’s weak contact in play. Exactly what he and the catcher wanted. Here’s Josh Naylor. His first at bat was a strike out. That one ripped and out of here. And they add to their lead. It’s three nothing. He only needed one swing to square it up. Not wasting any time in that at bat, boo. Aggressive and it paid off. A good hitter gets pitch recognition early. He saw exactly where that was going to be. The challenge, not get over anxious and come out of your swing. He stayed on it and got all of it. Hard hit right side and he takes it himself for the out. Up next for the Diamondbacks catcher James McCann. Two outs. Base is empty. Here is James McCann. Singled and drove in a run his first time through. Outside and it’s one and0. Two down, nobody on. Top half of inning number four. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. And now two balls in a strike. [Applause] Yeah, there’s the strike. [Applause] Ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. And that keeps the inning alive. Now batting the center fielder, Alec Thomas. Alec Thomas stands in now for the Diamondbacks. Struck out looking his first time. on the ground right side. Ranifo to first and that’s the third out. DAX had a pair on the homer. It’s now 3 nothing. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Ready to go. Bottom four. And now batting Mike Trout. Great speed and great power. a great athlete quite simply. And a foul ball. He’s like Mike Trout. You figure whatever you put in his hand, whether it’s a bat, whether it’s a golf club, whether it’s a basketball, he can do it and get it done. And a rare talent. So much fun to watch. Foul ball still a one and two count. left field way back there. Guriel going back. Pulls it in on the warning track. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. Ward stands in here, takes ball one low. Base is empty, one away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Just missed. Check swing. No appeal. That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball but missed the spot. Boo. If I were him, I’d be nibbling around the plate as well. I mean, this guy’s just capable of hitting pitches outside of the zone and driving them a long way. Man at first. Here’s the center fielder, Joe Adele. A sliding stop. There’s one. That’s an out. Double play. What a twin killing to end the inning. So they make short work of him there. We played four. It’s the Diamondbacks three and the Angels nothing. Back here at Angel Stadium, ready now for the fifth inning. Here’s the short stop at the plate. Heraldo Peromo. Kikuchi back to work. Just missed. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished. Little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. [Applause] That one’s spoiled and the count now two and one. Swaying at a ball popped in the air and it stays fair. high fast ball even a little above the zone but such a good job of staying tall on the backside getting that barrel there to meet it just in time I tell you what it’s not easy to do so the batting order turns over Marte up to the plate for two in this one that one ripped right center field that’s back there and it hits the fence rounds third headed for the plate He’ll score and they lead by four. Well, here we are. Third time through the order and this is where we see the OPS jump up. Manager might have to go to the bullpen a little bit sooner than he anticipated. Manager out of the dugout now. And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Us Kikuchi out of the game and he’s responsible for the runner on second. So, the book isn’t closed on him yet. We’ll be right back. Now, pitching a new pitcher in the game, Jose Soraniano. Still pretty early in the ball game. So, this bullpen has some work ahead of him. Best case scenario might be if he can come in here and get several quick outs. Kind of bridge the gap that starter left for him. Runner in scoring position, no outs. This is Corbin Carroll. That one finds the zone. Strike one. Well, these Diamondbacks really impressed me with the quality of their at bats in this one. It’s been fun getting a chance to see them go to work. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. [Music] [Applause] Outside low. One and two to Cal to the right side. Gets it to first. One away here in the fifth. That’s a good piece of hitting right there. It’s early, but you still want to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score. That’s exactly what happened. So, you better believe your teammates are happy with you after that at bat. [Applause] tapped softly on the ground and that’s a foul ball. Marte stands at third with one gone in the inning. Next offering misses and that is ball one. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Carson Fulmer getting ready to go. Eater getting loose as well. All the strike the pitch. [Applause] [Applause] And that’s will swing. It’s a strike out. Uh Suarez up to hit now. Been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level. for him right now at the plate. It’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. That one missed. Two outs and a runner at third. And we’re in the top of the fifth and this is inside. Good pitchers make pitches in big situations. And right here with a middle of the order hitter up, runner in scoring position. He’s got to find a way to throw a quality strike. So now two on and two outs. That just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and the play was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of the zone. So digging in Josh Naylor. He’s already homered here in this one. [Applause] Strike one. Wow. That’s not even close to the zone. No ball. One strike. That one fouled off. Next offering is downstairs. And that one hit 97 on the gun. Two aboard, two outs. [Applause] Line drive and that’s a base hit. runner in from third to extend their lead. Throw in holds that trail runner at third base. They’re at the corners with two away. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. Ripped that one down the line and kept it fair. And even when you hit it that far out front, you still have to keep your hands tight to your body so you don’t hook around that baseball and put it in foul territory. And that right there was perfect. So two outs with runners on the corners. Gritic getting ready to hit. brings it in for the third out. So, two runs in the inning, three hits, no errors, but two are left stranded. Home half of the fifth coming up. It’s the Diamondbacks five and the Angels nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. We head to the bottom of the fifth. So in down for the Angels Yan Mona there the rightander back to work. That’s down and in. They’ve got a potent lineup. And when you think about teams capable of rallying from this kind of deficit, they’re right at the top of the list. That one finds the zone and a count one and one in the air left side. Guriel and a quick out number one. Now batting right and next for LA Jorge Solair fly to center his first time. Solair measures 6’4 in 33 years old and he was born in Cuba. There’s the strike. Drilled out towards left center field. That one’s back up against the wall and brings it in. Here [Music] is Dardo 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. 01 looking sharp just a strike away from five shut out innings. Got it. And it’s a three up, three down inning. Angels go down one, two, three. Still looking at that five nothing deficit. All right, we go to the top half of inning number six. Now the Dback’s catcher, James McCann. There’s a swing and a drive and that one hops the wall. Now he’ll turn for second. Pulls in with a double. Third hit for him today. Didn’t take long to get a result for that at bat. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. Runner in scoring position. No outs. And now the center fielder, Alec Thomas. Pitch misses outside. Ball one. McCann at second with nobody out. right now after that miscue. These hitters today are so great with handling velocity. They’re seeing high speeds day after day and a nice job of turning that one around. So runners at the corners, nobody out. Next to hit for Arizona, Heraldo Peromo, a shorts stop takes the ball. 10. Come on, Angel. Let’s go. in the air left field and makes the grab. Runner tagging from third. He’s in on the sacrifice fly. It’s 6 nothing now. Batting second baseman Catel Marte. [Music] So the lineup flips over an outstanding hitter in Catel Marte. Well, both sides equally as strong. So, not a good time to try to turn him around with a belief pitcher and put him on the other side of the plate. And that one is downstairs. And that’s ball one. One run across in the frame so far. And we’re the top half of the six. One ball, one strike. [Applause] So a foul ball makes it one and two. [Music] [Applause] That one missing inside. Hit well right field way back and gone. That one felt good. Home run number 20 on the year. And they tack on to their lead. It’s 8 nothing. Anytime you have a pitch down the middle of the plate, the percentages go up for the hitter to do damage. Even if it’s a pretty good sinker like that one. Nice piece of hitting there at the plate. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pan. Jose Soraniano will depart and as he heads off, we’ll step aside for a minute. Back with a new pitcher after this break. Now pitching Jake Eer on a pitch out of the pen here. Well, they need someone to stop the bleeding and keep the score right where it is. Seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging. It next is the designated hitter for the Dbacks, Corbin Carroll. and fires in a fast ball at 95. Still only one out here in the inning. No fought off foul. One down, base is empty. Little bit low. Two and two. Really good take, especially with two strikes. Foul ball. Another two- two upcoming. Ball three. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. 3-2 now. Fights it off. He’ll see another. And he couldn’t hold back. He’s rung up on strikes. Well, big power guy right there and generating so much bat speed. It’s hard to bring that to a halt once you’ve committed. They tried to check the swing, just couldn’t do it. Two down, base is empty. Here’s Lordis Guriel Jr. Swing and that ball smashed on the line. Reaching for, makes the catch, but they strike for three in the inning. Two on this two-run home run. It’s now an eight nothing game. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. And we’re back. Bottom of the six. And now it’s the switch hitting second base. Luis Reano. Reano. Just missed. One ball. No strike. slashed foul down the right side. That’ll hook off into the seats. Here’s a 1-1 in the air left field down the line. And that’s a foul ball on the outside corner. Got him looking. Well, he froze him with a great fast ball right on the corner. It’s kind of like bowling when you think the ball’s going to get into the gutter and somehow just hangs onto that edge and knocks down a pin. Well, he got the outside corner of the plate and got that called. Third strike. Needto in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. The offense needs to start showing some fight against this starter. He’s doing his thing out there. They’re going to have to push back at some point and make him work a little bit harder. Yeah, big swing and a miss. And it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. Base is empty, one away here in the bottom of the six. That one fouled off. Two and two. gets a piece and stays alive inside. Full countdown. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. in the air right field. Gritic makes the grab and there’s two gone. Now batting first. Two outs. Base is empty. Nolan Shadowwell. The next to hit for the Angels. Angels. Fast in for a strike. One. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. And that’s outside. He’s done a great job getting the first two outs. Want to get this number two hitter get back in the dugout and face 345 next inning. Swings through that one for strike two. One, two. That one just misses. Caught a break right there. Pretty good pitch on the outside corner. That one misses and it’s three and two. Battling here as he fouls it away. Swang in a line drive. That’s a base hit into center field. And they have their first hit since the third inning right there. Does a great job of staying in the big part of the field. Man, there are a lot of hits there. Now Trout gets a chance to hit. First pitch misses. Come on. That’s a ball. He hasn’t wanted to challenge him. Both of those pitches off the plate away. Don’t expect anything down the heart of the plate. You may just have to be patient and take your walk here. [Music] Two. Shanowell off of first with two away. That curve ball’s been a big pitch for him today. He’s been able to get ahead in the count with it. He’s also been able to use it to put guys away. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. had a good eye there. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Popped up. Naylor brings it in. And that is that. Angels leave one. Still 8 nothing. Back in Anaheim. New inning getting started. Here’s the third baseman. Au Heno Suarez. Let’s go Angels. And there’s a base hit to left. and the leadoff man aboard. And now the first baseman, Josh Naylor. He’s already homered in this game. That clips a corner. The Diamondbacks up big in this one here in the top half of inning number seven. That one finds the zone and it’s on two. Quickly into an 02 count. Both pitches were down in the zone. I think you set your sights a little bit higher cuz you’ll have a tendency to chase if you look down in that area. Two in the dirt. Safe at second. So, a wild pitch allows the runner to advance. Definitely trying to work down and get that double play ball, but it got away enough to erase any chance of that. Good job of moving up into scoring position. Now, a hit could make that wild pitch really sting. Here’s a 2-2 line drive and that’s a base hit out of left center field coming home. He will score. It’s an RBI single. It’s 9 nothing. We don’t see this a whole lot anymore where hitters with two strikes are willing to shorten up, tighten up, and try to hit the ball back up the middle other way. He was trying to hit that hole, I believe. very good at bat with two strikes. Gritic in the box now. No balls in a strike. [Applause] Just missed. [Applause] misses the zone and he gets him to chase. Good pitch right there. Tied him up on the hands. If I’m out there on the bump, I’m going right back in there. [Applause] That missed by a lot. Two balls, two strikes to count. [Music] Swing and a miss. Had him out front for the strikeout. James McCann stands in now for the Diamondbacks. Three for three with two singles and a double. [Applause] Highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side. [Applause] in there for a strike at the top of the zone. Don’t play situation here. He’s been working up in the zone. Typically, you look for guys to get that ground ball. See if he adjusts on this next pitch. [Applause] Ground ball left side. Could be two. Offbalance feed. There’s one. And it’s a double play to end the inning. So they get one run, two hits, no errors, and nobody left off. Midway in inning number seven, and it’s time to stretch. It’s the Dbacks nine and the Angels nothing. Back here at Angel Stadium, bottom of the inning. So now the Angel cleanup hitter Taylor Ward hit hard on the ground to short. Perommo on to first and they get the lead off hitter in the seventh. He’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Joe Adell the next to hit for the Angels. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. John Curtis appears to be getting loose. Ginkle warming up as well. The Angels with a lot of ground to make up here in the bottom of the seventh. Next offering in there for a strike. 0 and2 now. [Music] up the middle and he knocks it down. Not in time. Great effort, but it’s an infield hit. So, a man at first. Yawan Mona will hit next. One there. fast ball is outside. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. Next offering upstairs. [Applause] Ground ball up the middle. Makes the sliding stop. The feed for one. What a double play that was. Inning over. Still in total command on the mound with seven shutout innings. It’s the Dbacks nine and the Angels nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Ready to begin the eighth. Here’s the center fielder, Alec Thomas. Eater back to work. And there’s the strike. ripped but it curls foul. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Full extension makes the catch. You love to see when a guy’s hungry to make a play right there. An excellent diving catch. You can absolutely tell he was all in and tracking that ball down. Heraldo Purdomo stands in now for the Diamondbacks. Now batting second base, Catel Marte. One gone runner at first. Here’s Catel Marte. on the ground to the left and that’s just foul [Music] [Applause] one and that is out of play. [Music] [Applause] [Music] spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another angel. Swing and a miss struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one. I got to think that was the plan all the way. He set him up with a high fast and then bury that curve ball down low to get him swinging. Now, especially with how effective pitchers work up in the zone these days, that’s a devastating combination. Highf fly ball out to left field. Ward squeezes it and that is that one left for Arizona, but they’re still in command. Nine nothing. Now pitching for back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth, John Curtis. and he’s had three days off since he pitched last. So, expect him to be totally rested. I’m sure he’s itching for this opportunity right now. Solair and first offering is fouled off. Curtis, the tall righty, 220 lbs and he was a sixthround draft pick back in 2014. And that’s off the outside edge and a count even one and one and it’s fouled away. This one high in the air to left center. Thomas sizing it up. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there’s one down. Catcher Travis Darno. Travis Darno will come up to hit. First pitch just misses. Activity in the Arizona bullpen. Jake Woodford up and throwing for manager Tory Lavello. And it’s even up One down. Base is empty. And there’s a foul ball. [Music] [Music] You got this. Had a swing and a miss. Beat him with a fast ball. Here’s the second baseman, Luis Rango. One for two. Lisano. Right through there for a strike. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. And that’s in for a strike. Quickly in an 02 hole. You’re going to have to give something up here in terms of power if you want to put the ball in play with any authority. And that just misses. His understanding of the strike zone. Very impressive. That was a very close 02 fastball. I just don’t know how you take that. Upstairs. And that one misses up and in. Full count now. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance works the walk. One of the things about that two out walk. The base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Needto now at the plate as he swings through strike one. Headed towards the corner. Gritic on the run. Couldn’t get to it before it dropped. Foul. Stays alive. Ranifo the runner at first with two gone. Ripped on a line to center. Thomas makes the grab and that is that. This one pretty well decided at this point. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the Dbacks nine and the Angels nothing. And we’re back. All set to start the ninth in this one. Here’s Guriel. [Applause] And the first pitch misses for ball one. [Music] [Applause] Guriel gets a piece. [Music] [Applause] swing and a base hit. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. Now batting third baseman Au Heno Suarez. Here’s the cleanup hitter for the Diamondbacks. Au Heno Suarez. [Applause] Off the mark there. And that’s ball one. Strike one. One-1. [Applause] Next offering is in for a strike. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. The Dbacks up big in this one here in the top of the ninth. That’s hard hit on the line. Calls it in and is one away. Now batting the first baseman, Josh Naylor. Next up for the Diamondbacks, Josh Naylor. And that one clips the corner. [Applause] Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. [Music] [Applause] Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Now up next for Arizona, Randall Gritick. Randall Griche [Applause] on the ground right side. Ranifo throws to first in time and that’s the third out. One left for the Diamondbacks but they still hold a nine nothing lead. Back in Anaheim, now the number two hitter, Nolan Shadow, Nolan Shadow. [Applause] And that is in for a strike. 0 and one. [Applause] And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. [Applause] That’s inside. Two balls, one strike. Way high. Smoke to right center. And this one’s going to go out of here. A solo shot. His ninth homer of the year. And they’re on the scoreboard. It’s 91. That one just sounded different. And it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I could feel that swing from the boot. Knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this at bat. Was very patient and it paid off. Here’s Trout 0 for three in this one. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Part of the order coming through now. And with one home run already in this inning, they’re definitely looking to do some more damage. Nobody on, nobody out with a run in here in the last half of inning number nine. Swinging a drive deep right field. That’s back there. That one is gone. He sends one out the opposite way. It’s 92. Who doesn’t love watching Mike Trout smash home runs? His swing just sounds different. Backto back jacks. And this club is fired up right now, B. I mean, this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup beating off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow. Here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. John Curtis done for the day. And as he heads for the dugout, we’ll take a quick break. New arm on the mound when we get back. Now pitching for now on the mount for the Diamondbacks Kevin. Compared to some days, this is a pretty low leverage appearance for him. So he should be fairly free and easy out there. Still have to keep yourself sharp and attack the strike zone. Taylor Ward digs in now. this to third. Toss to Naylor. One out. Bottom of the ninth. Up next for the Angels. Center fielder Joe. And now the center fielder Joe Adele. One for three. [Applause] Swang in a highf fly ball hit in the air left center field. This one’s got a chance. That one carry gone off the rocks in center. Touch of all time. He sends it out of here. Their third home run of the inning. It’s 93. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. When a guy’s got a real hard fast ball, you can’t overswing. All you’ve got to do is get the bat head to the spot. If you do, he supplies the power and you’ll get to jog around the bases like he did right there. Here in the bottom of the ninth, one out. Here is Yan Monado. That’s ripped. Base hit. So, a man aboard now with one away. Now batting rightielder. And next for the Angels, Jorge Solair. Three fly outs already. He’s 0 for three at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. No balls. One strike. [Applause] Monata the runner at first with one gone in the inning. Good approach right there. You want to get something just a little higher that you can elevate. Stay out of that double play. That’s outside. Good location. Good take. Sometimes you want the hitter to prove he can lay off that pitch. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another [Applause] cuts on it and misses. That’s a strike out and they’re down to their last out. Well, that’s the money maker right there. Two strikes slider down and away from a same side thrower as the hitter. I mean, that’s just tough if you’re looking to protect with two strikes and very difficult to lay off. So, it’s their last chance in this one. Travis Darno digs in. First pitch misses. [Applause] No, that’s a ball. [Applause] And that one fouled off. Already three runs across in the frame. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. fouls one off. Two and two. The Halos down to their final strike. Got him. And that’s the ball game. Sometimes road trips can be tough. You’re away from your family, but when you can win, silence that opposing crowd, it makes things just a little bit better. Makes the road trip just a little bit shorter. 93 your final here in this one for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shi saying so long. I
