Warriors guard Buddy Hield on his offseason travels to Rome: “Gladiator. I watched Gladiator and I thought Maximus was a real warrior. I’m going into the Colosseum yelling ‘Maximus!’ and my tour guide was like, ‘He’s not real.’”

  1. Hoping for more Buddy-Butler this season, their chemistry in post game interviews was great. Funny duo.

  2. My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

  3. Despite that, The Slave revolts were very real and very interesting for anyone who is interested

  4. Lmfao. Was he trying to feel Maximus’s ghost by yelling his name in there?

  5. I hope his guide didn’t told him historically Marcus Aurelius did made his son Commodus the emperor and it went badly.

  6. I was in high school when Gladiator came out, and thought it was awesome, but I knew nothing about Ancient Rome. Then I went to college and got a degree in history. Then Gladiator II came out much much later, and was slightly ruined by the way my stupid brain kept saying “well this isn’t how any of this went down…” the entire movie

  7. We should not be surprised that basketball players are dumb. I have a feeling most of these guys have an IQ of around 85.

  8. This could only be better if Buddy yelled, “I am not entertained” at the tour guide

  9. >”He’s not real.”

Not really a reason why you couldn’t yell “Maximus” in the Colosseum.

  10. If he’s not real then how come what he did echoes in eternity? Check mate tour guide. But to be fair, there are several characters based on actual real people in the movies

  11. I love the fact the Buddy thought Gladiator was basically a documentary about a real person. Its a great movie. Also, I dont know why the tour guide said that, I’ve heard stories that Russell Crowe can’t walk the streets of Rome without tons of people both tourists and locals shouting Maximus. Lastly, shouting Maximus in the colosseum feels like a very appropriate place to do it.
