D-backs vs. Angels Game Highlights (7/13/25) | MLB Highlights
This is an important game as they look to sweep Arizona, get that record back to 500. And for Jos Soraniano, when he’s good, he’s really good. When he’s not, he gives up some runs. Another 3-2 along at bat to start the game. And Carol strikes out. Gussy knuckle curve. 3-2 pitch. Like it keeping him off the bases. So, so important. And now that pitch inside and it hit him in the foot. It clipped something. Well, the last thing the Dbacks need is another injury via the hit by pitch. Two outs and the top of the first inning. Here’s the pitch. This is bounced on a high hop right to the mound. It’s fielded by Soraniano. He took that one basically away from Shottwell. And that’s an unassisted put out for the pitcher to wrap up the inning. Debbs have hit yet to retire Neto in the first inning of games this series. And today it’s Mel Kelly’s turn as the right hander makes his 20th the start of the season. and a leadoff walk. It’s only the fourth leadoff walk by Neto in now 63 games as the leadoff batter. And now the 2-1 swung on. Hard hit to second. Alexander has it. Throws to Purdomo. That’s one onto first. That’s two. Nicely turned. 463 double play initiated by Alexander. And now there are two outs and nobody on for Mike Trout. Ball four was a fast ball that ran in. So, two blocks in the inning, but Neto’s got erased on a double play. Now, Travis on base that will bring up Taylor Ward. And that’s dropped in there for strike three. Ward knew it. The inning comes to an end. He struck him out on a change up. And so, for me Kelly, two walks, a strikeout, and a man left on base. The O2 is grounded to third. Backhanded by Monata. And the throw just pulls Shaell off the bag and he goes down lane. and now rises to his feet. It looked like maybe a bit of a groin issue. He was grabbing the inside of his thigh and now he seems to be okay. This ground ball might have ricocheted off Sorato. It goes to Reo and starts a double play. So the old 1463 double play that’s on your bingo card, didn’t we? Joe Adele leads off the bottom of the second inning. No score. Adele Mona and then it is going to be the catcher Ohapy as the one-two swing and a miss. Adele strikes out and that’s backto-back strikeouts for Kelly going to the end of the first inning. Merryill had a 21 pitch first through only eight strikes. That’s ball four to Mata. So Mel Kelly with three walks out of the first six batters that he has faced. 22 strike three called. A late reaction by the home plate umpire, but Kelly gets his third strike out and his second looking punchy of the outing. Right to Blae Alexander and Merrill gets another ground ball out. Strands the walk. Neto identified this ball is going to get caught. Immediately goes back and tags up and it was plenty deep enough for Neto move up. And that play is totally in front of you. Neto in scoring position now with two away. Here is Mike Trout. Six RBI’s from a thousand. He’s got a guy in second base here. And Trout Drive. Base hit to left. Neto’s being waved home. Here comes the throw on the plate from McCarthy. It’s cut off as Neto scores. And Mike Trout stays hot. He rips an RBI single to make it one- nothing. And he smashed that baseball. And how good was that base running for Zack Neto in that run being scored. Tags up on that fly ball by Shawell. And then is frocked. Balls behind Peromo though. Three balls, no strikes with Naylor and Suarez behind him as his three 0 pitch is high and away. Ball four pitch walking. This was the last start against the Rangers where boy Soriano just lost all command and Naylor shoots it through that hole by Monata. Ward picks it up out there and the first two aboard here. Diamond back fourth. Diamondbacks with two on, nobody out. Yuaneo Suarez will bounded to third. Monata kicked it. Here comes Purdomo. This will tie the ball game. Ow. And Monata has missed several plays down there at third in this series and that one cost the Angels the lead. And we highlighted him for a reason. That knee bothered him. This is a double play ball. All no way other to look at it. Blaze Alexander had our first hit of the game. He’s got Naylor at second and Suarez at first. Two outs and they’re at second. Scheduled off day today for Catel. That’s a base hit for Bla1. Shawn Larkin will wave Naylor. Suarez on the move. He’s headed for third and Alexander has an RBI double. lays Alexander two for two and it’s two to one diamond bench. First RBI of the season and it’s a big one as it now puts two in scoring position for Jos Herrera. And now first pitch check swing fair grounder inside the third base line. That’s going to bring home two as Joy scoots into second with a two-run double. Oh baby, that is clutch right there. And it’s nice for Josie, like you mentioned, a little checked swing here on a sinker that was up high. Mention how good he’s been in July. The pitch count is getting up there a little bit and the Angels have been real, really real good as far as responding. Their opponents score multiple runs in an inning. It’s going to be very important here. Not only score some runs, but work the count, get to that bull penalty. 3-2 swing and a foul tip and he strikes him out. Went back to the change up once again. That’s his bread and butter. A lot of rebounds here in the fourth. Angels have hit a lot of home runs before the All-Star break, the second most in franchise history. This is belted high in the air. McCarthy is on the warning track and Jake at the wall and he’s got another one. It came up just short and McCarthy able to haul it in for the third out in the fourth. Taylor is retired on that liner. That’s out number two in the fifth inning. And the batter will be Suarez. And he’s been the guy that keeps hitting balls to Monata at third. And Monata’s not been able to make the play. He throws. And this was hit in the air to shallow right. Long run for Lamont. Wade. He dives. He misses it. It gets under his glove and goes past him. Purdomo’s going to round third and come home. And thank you very much, Gino Suarez. an RBI double as the Dbacks extend their lead. It’s now 5 to one. One up and one down as that brings up Renifo. But at 91 pitches, there’s only so much rope as that is grounded to first. That’ll help tremendously. It’s gloved by Naylor. He goes to the bag and that is in time for the second out of this inning. A one-two pitch. Locked him up for strike three. And a fine way for Kelly to finish his outing and likely his first half. He strikes out six angels while allowing one run in five innings. Kevin Newman has entered to play third base. So Marcado has had that knee problem, especially the two errors from Marcado were costly. Here’s a fly ball to left center. Long run for Adele and a diving catch. What a play by Joe Adell. He took a good angle to get to that baseball and had some carry to it. What an amazing play on that one. And you see he’s playing right center field. that much brown he covers the dive and make a play. It is the bottom of the ninth inning and the Diamondbacks trying to hang on to a 5 to1 lead and prevent the sweep by Anaheim. Former Diamondback Kevin Newman leads off the ninth for Los Angeles. Two-2 pitch swung on. Soft ground ball to second. Blaze has it on a hip high bounce and throws out Newman. One down. Now the pitch grounded left side. It’s Pernomo. Long throw on his backhand and he got him. What a nice play by Peromo. Man, I thought he might have taken a little bit too much time there after he picked this ball up. It’s a beautiful backhand. Two outs bottom of the ninth and Dback still with that five to one lead. This to wrap up the first half. It’s swung on. It’s hit to left center and Thomas is there. He makes the catch and that is your ball game. The Diamondbacks win the finale by a final score of 5-1. They prevent the sweep. And though it has been a frustrating first half of baseball for the Diamondbacks, they will go into the Allstar break with a win in

Go D-Backs!!!
Am I the only angels fan that believes Tyler Bremmer will be a solid rotation piece for years to come
Love the throwback California Angels uniform
The Angels had as many hits (3) as errors (3). What an embarrassment
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 47-50🔴⚫️⚪️🐍☀️🌇🏜️🌵
No sweep for you Angels
Rough "loss" to have to swallow for Soriano due to his teammate's errors. He could have definitely used a scoreless outing to wrap up his first half.
Couldn't we have swept it? If we'd won today we'd be back at 50%.Maybe it would be better to reorganize the rotation.
Angels are done enough said they were on a fluke before was all.
netO nice tag up!! smart thinking…
remember to run out every play 🫵
don’t assume an out 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Both teams are tracking the ball well. noW, all batters on deck need to focus on the pitchers release point before they are called to step in the batters box. this will give you an edge against the pitcher. You brain is see more repetition at that point. this will allow you to slow the ball down as you tack the ball 🫵
Angels: What areas can we lead the division at?
Moncada winks at Newman.
3:10 those pitchers never run : 99% the only ball can be hit by Trout is low ball at position 8 😂😂😂😂😂😂
trouty's warm enough by now to make an mvp bid in the 2nd half, but halos wanted this one to go into the all star break smelling like roses
Let’s go D’backs
