Mets vs. Royals Game Highlights (7/13/25) | MLB Highlights

Time for baseball at Kaufman Stadium. It’s the Royals and Mets. And there is lefty Noah Cameron, 25-year-old from St. Joe. He’ll turn 26 in just about a week now. 256 ERA. Again, lowest by any rookie in baseball this season that has made at least five starts. It is past time to start talking about Noah Cameron as a rookie of the year candidate. Mark Bentos is the Mets designated hitter in this game. Right. He swings and cracks one high in the sky toward right field toward the corner. Kaggleon back to the track, nearing the wall, jumps and this one lands on the track. Vientos gets to second, takes the turn, heading for third. The cut off throw on the way, the slide, the tag. The ball pops out of Garcia’s mitt. Vientos into third base with a triple. An opposite field triple. Bombs away down the line. Vientos ends up at third. Kaggleó put in the spin cycle out there. His struggles continue and the Mets take advantage. So, two are out for Pete Alonzo. Noah Cameron might be working around Alonzo with Brandon NMO coming up next. So now NMO with 53 runs batted in, but the matchup here certainly favors Noah Cameron. It’s lefty against lefty and he swings and pops it up. That should end the inning into foul territory. Garcia to make the play. So the strategy of just pitching around Alonszo really pays off. So nothing comes of the one out triple. Bottom of the first inning in Kansas City. Nothing nothing Mets and Royals. It is Klay Holmes day for the New York Mets. Klay Holmes will do his thing. Maybe five innings. Don’t think they’ll push him to a 100 pitches. Just give him his last start before the All-Star break. And then we’ll see Shawn Mania. One of the things with India this season, he’s been really poor leading off games. But like I said, all three games in this series. He’s gotten on the 1-1 is hit on the ground and short. Could be two. Lindor has got it. Flipped to second. One. Audi to first. Double play. 643. And there’s two gone. Well, when Akuna is in there, the Mets up the middle are very stylish. Bottom of the second, no score. Mike El Garcia, the batter. Eight home runs, 40 RBI’s for Garcia. Well hit left center field in the gap and down. An extra bases for Garcia. He’ll be at second with a leadoff double. So, the Royals have had their leadoff man on in each of the first two innings. Holmes paid the price for falling behind Garcia. Brings up Perez. We mentioned Salvi is the designated hitter in this game and now Salvi gets hit by a pitch. Holmes tried to come in on him and came in but way too far and now the Royals have two on with nobody out. Holmes already throws a lot of things that move down towards the bottom of the zone. That’s all he’s going to do here with Kagono and try to get a ground ball from him. Reese for grounded right side. Diving stop by Akuni at second. He gets up and throws to first and that’s in time. Garcia goes to third. Perez to second. Pagleion out on a great glove play by Akunia sliding to his left. At least the Royals avoided the double play and advanced runners 90 ft. So now John Rave John with 11 hits, four RBI’s hit a couple of balls very hard yesterday, but no luck. Ra hits it hard and fair pass first. That’s going to score two. John around first and on his way to second base and he’s going to hit the brakes with a two-run double. Well, finally John Rae makes good contact with some luck and he went right over the bag at first. So two to nothing Royals and for Rave RBI’s five and six for Jonathan India. That’s his sixth hit of the series. He’s now six out of 11 this weekend. And that brings up Bobby Wit Jr. who grounded into a 643 double playback in the first inning. Grounded to short could be two again. Lindor to Aunia. Akuni to first to Alonzo. End time 643. Clay Holmes beautiful job for the second time doctoring it up. Bobby Whit Jr. the second double play he’s grounded into today. Only had one all season prior to this. Now Mets have two on, one out. Bottom of the order up, chasing two. Here’s Luis Torren. Two and two now on Ten. Swing and a miss and a strike out of Ten. Second out of the inning number five for Noah Cameron. Yep. A lot of whiffs going on. You can’t call him a soft tossing lefty. Any lefty that throws 95 miles an hour is not a soft toss. So two down. The batter is young Luis Anel Akuna. First and second, two down and a wave and a miss to the breaking ball down in the dirt. And that’s a strike out on the curve ball. That’s number six. Three strikeouts in that inning for Noah Cameron. He works around a couple of base hits to keep him off the board. Noah Cameron has had base runners in every inning, but he has not allowed the Mets to score. It’s two nothing Royals. So now for the Mets. Top of the order. Francisco Lindor. Lindor’s fishing at the curve and for me takes care of the rest. Sevenks for Cameron. Yellow hammer. It you can’t hit it. Bentos tripled in the first inning. Singled in the third. Bobby W Jr. deep short on a hop. Got him. As if there’s any doubt he makes that play from the outfield grass. That’s that patented throw stew that Derek Jeter made famous. Yeah, for sure. Sto has grounded to short and gone down swinging. Swinging a miss. So Cameron really mixing pitches. The Mets are completely baffled. And on the mound for the first time in 2025, lefty Sha Maniah missed the first 96 games of the season. That oblique strain, the elbow issue, and finally he makes his season debut facing Bobby Wit Jr. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. A base hit off the bat of Bobby Wit Jr. So Maniah’s first batter singles against him. So it’s an on base streak now that has reached 16 with a base hit up the middle. Whit goes first to second. So he’s in scoring position with one out and Mike Cal Garcia coming up. Swing and a miss. Strikes out Garcia. Well Shawn Maniah with his first strike out of the season. Two outs in the sixth. And here’s Salvador Perez. Maniah’s one two swing and a miss. He struck him out 94 m anph blown by Salvador Perez to end the inning. Shawn Maniah’s return to the mound looking good. And so it’s an infield hit for Akuna who can fly. And it appears that Noah Cameron will not get through seven this time. He’ll have to settle for six and two/3. But listen to the hand he’s going to get as he walks off. Job well done. Noah Cameron exits stage right. John Shriber on with a runner at first and two down here in the seventh. Two nothing Royals. Two and two. Two down. Indoor waits and a swing and a ground to right side. Nice play on the outfield grab by the second baseman India. He spins and fires to Vinnie for the out. Well, that got on India in a hurry off the bat of Lindor. And what a job today by Cameron and just there by Shriber and by India. The Mets had the top of the order coming up in the top of the eighth. So incumbent on Maniah to keep this just a two-run deficit as he bends in a sweeper for called strike three. The sweeper really a good weapon in that at bat. Third strike out in a row for Maniah. Well, here is that pinch hitter for the lefty John Rae. Nick Loftton swung on it. Missed. Strike three. How about Shawn Maniah picking up right where he left off. That’s four consecutive strikeouts in his season debut. Breaking ball has been on point. That ball missed by a foot by Loftton. Gave up the leadoff single to Bobby Wit Jr. then got Paspantino to ground out and then it’s four straight strikeouts. Breaking ball sits him down. sweeper swooping in over the outside corner and Shawn Maniah strikes out the side. Five strikeouts in a row for Maniah. I mean, you couldn’t ask for a better appearance coming back. Uh held at all of his pitches. Didn’t really see any change up, just fast ball and breaking ball and befuddled the Kansas City Royals hitters. That towel that’s around his neck, they take cold water and ice. They put ammonia in there and they dip that towel and put it on the back of your neck. It’s the greatest feeling you’ll ever have. And now it’s an All-Star closer on the mound for the ninth. Carlos Estz takes the hill to protect a two nothing lead. Stez, the All-Star closer, but his last two outings against the Mets have been nothing to write home about. game four of the series against the Phillies last year and then game one of this series where he gave it the bases clearing double to Mark Ventos that gave the Mets the lead. Mauricio leads it off. Batting left pitch swing a line drive the other way. Loftton over. It’s over his head. Base hit over and toward the wall. Mauricio to second with a lead off two base hit. That is how it got started for the Mets here in the ninth. Estz’s first pitch. So here come the lefties off the bench. This is Taylor’s spot on the order. So McNeel gets a chance. Remember he added insurance yesterday with an RBI single. Hit high deep drive center field. Isel back. It is off the top of the wall. Ills goes crashing into the fence. Mauricio rounding third. He’ll come home to score. McNeel to third with a triple. Mets are now down a run in the ninth. The tying man 90 ft away. It is two to one Kansas City in the ninth. But what a pinch hit spot for Jeff McNeel. And here comes Jared Young to pinch hit for Luis Selkunia. Young’s first at bat back since getting called back up. Here again joined the team when Jesse Winker who’s usually the lefty DH in this spot, but he went down with that that back inflammation. Swinging a high fly to center field. Here comes Isbel squaring it up. He makes the catch. McNeel tags. Here he comes. Here’s the throw. It’s not in time. McNeel slides in head first safely. Jared Young ties the game with a sack fly to center field and the Mets have come all the way back again late to tie to the ninth. Two to2 against Carlos Estz. And Shawn Mania is staying on the mound for the Mets. Has thrown three scoreless innings in his season debut with six strikeouts. Swung on it. Missed strike three. Seven strikeouts for Sha Maniah. That’s the same pitch he’s been thrown to the right-handers. That ball is exploding. So now Tolbert Tolbert hitting in Tagleó spot and a soft liner into right field. It’s going to drop. So now he has two hits and all the speed you would want at first base representing the winning run. Yeah, he’s the one guy capable of turning that single into a double or a triple. So now he’ll be at first base. Loftton will be at the plate. There he goes. pitch inside the throw to second on a hop and it rolls away but not far enough to allow Tolbert to move to third. He picked a great pitch to run on. It was a breaking ball down in the dirt. That is a huge stolen base. Now just a single. Loftton can find a hole here. The Royals could have a win. Nick Loftton single to left to drive in the gamewinner. A walk-off RBI hit earlier in this home stand. Lofty over base hit. Here comes Tolbert flying around third. The throw, the dive. He’s safe. The Royals win it. A redemption swing from Nick Loftton. His second game winner in the home stand. And the Royals beat the Mets 3 to2. So the Mets were able to rally with two in the top of the ninth. Royals avoided the sweep with a run in the bottom of the ninth.

  1. Better do something about bottom half of the lineup because when big 3 does nothing can’t count on other players ,torrens and Taylor not starters and baby Mets so inconsistent

  2. It's time for the Mets to replace Mendoza. His lineups stink! He finally has Vientos batting second again. But why is he using Acuna? He's not Ronald! Also, Winker should be an everyday batter; he knows how to protect the plate. Taylor should only be used for defensive purposes.
