Braves vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (7/13/25) | MLB Highlights

The Cardinals and Braves wrap up game three of our series, the finale before the All-Star festivities start in Atlanta tomorrow. It’s always a sunny day when Sunny Gray pitches, especially here at Bush Stadium. The 778 winning percentage, 14-4. Look, these guys have been winning games when they’re on the mound. Let’s look the story for Sunny Gray. Trying to win 10 games before the All-Star break. Euron Profar versus Sunny Gray. profile a switch hitter. Three hits in this series and that one popped toward right center. Late break for Victor, but he’s going to track it down and he’ll slide on the grass with a great recovery and catch for out number one. Now Matt Olsen at first base today for Atlanta. Tomorrow he’ll be one of eight in the home run derby at Truis Park. The two- two pitch is that check swing, but it tipped off his bat and was caught by the catcher Pah. So it’s a strike out. He didn’t mean to do it, but it doesn’t matter. and Ronald Akunia Jr. will bat and on the ground is short. Hard hit but right at Mason first. So one two three inning. No score from Bush Stadium. The 28-year-old right-hander Davis Daniel from Montgomery, Alabama making his second appearance of the season with the Braves, but this will be his first start with his hometown team. And one pitch, one out. Well, it’s good to have this young man back. Ivon Herrera’s last game June 19th. Lefty righty. It’s good to have his thunder back in the starting nine. Two two lined into center. Welcome back Ivon Herrera. So there goes the no hitter. That was solid off the bat and Ivon has the game’s first hit. So Alec Berles is next for the Cardinals. Herrera takes off. Baldwin’s throw. No chance. So a guy coming back from a sore hamstring throws a surprise party and steals second base here in the first inning. So first chance with risk for the Cardinals. And Berles takes high. Ball four. Two on and two men are out. Now to bring up Thomas JC batting 244 a homer, 10 RBI’s. Two- two pitch and he struck him out. Good sweeper away. So Davis Daniel works around a single and a walk. We head to the top of the second. No score. Sunny Gray got him one, two, three in the top half. Backto back strikeouts brings in. One ball, no strikes popped up by Azie Alb. This one in foul ground. Pah tosses the mask and makes the basket catch and that will retire the side. Sunonny Gray eight pitches has six up, six down and no score. Win leads off in the St. Louis second. Win hitting sixth today. That’s off the plate. Mason wins aboard. That’s the second walk Davis Daniel has issued. Three 0 count. Runner goes pitch a strike throw from the knees way late and the Cardinals have stolen two bases in as many innings. The Cardinals 0 for two with risk so far today. So two down win in scoring position. Victor Scott the second at the plate on the ground off the pitcher’s glove. That’ll be a base hit streaking around his win. He will score from second on an infield hit. But this is just heads up. We’ve seen a few of these plays as of late for Mason Win. Davis Daniel gets a piece of this one. It goes over towards second base and Mason Win, take a look. He sees it and he has taken off around third. Mason Win just scored. We played two. One nothing Cardinals. Eat up. Eight down for Sunny Gray. And here comes Nick Allen. Allen the shorts stop hitting 237. Nick Allen. One hopper past Mason went into left field and there’s the Braves first base runner. So extends the inning for Juriken. Proofar and he hits another hard grounder into the right center field. Allen will head for third and proar big turnaround first. Braves have runners in the corners here. A little two-out magic. So perhaps the floodgates could open here. One- nothing Cardinals. That could change right here. Matt Olsen is 0 for one with a strike out. And Matt Olsen clobbers one deep to right. Bounding back in play. A run scores. Olsen has to hold with a single. That just missed getting out of here, but it’s a tie game. That was a laser beam to right. Just misses a home run. pretty good job getting that ball in too and holding Pro Far at third. Braves tied up one a piece. Now they can take the lead with a base hit. Here’s Rattle. Two balls, two strikes for Akuna. Swing and a miss. Sunny Gray whiffs him. That’s number five. The Braves do pick up the one run. It’s a 1-1 game. Well, it’s been about an hour since the rains began here in St. Louis and it was a torrential downpour. The outfield was a veritable lake here at Bush Stadium. Yeah, it’s going to be a lot of work in the next 5 minutes. tractor out there still dumping a bunch of dirt trying to get left field playable. The Braves look like they’re kind of ready to take the field. And good news, it’s starting to rain again. One of the wildest rain delay sequences has taken place in a long time. Oliver Marl, Brian Snicker, the umpiring crew, and Matt Gford all walked out together to left field to check on the playability of the grass area in left field. And we are going to resume action with a forecast that’s calling for more rain to come at any moment this afternoon. Davis Daniel. He’s waited this out. He’s going to go back out and pitch with Ivon Herrera at first. Nobody out. Alec Berles. Three balls, two strikes. Full count. Runner goes. Pitch cut on a miss. Baldwin’s throw. No chance. And a stolen base for Herrera. Two outs for Saji. And down goes Saji. Beat him with a fast ball over the heart of the plate. And the best news of all, we’re back to playing baseball after the lengthy rain delay. Matt starting his second inning. So Mance has retired four straight. Here’s Harris. This one chopped up the middle. Donnie can’t corral that. That’s off the end of his glove. Would have been a tough play to get the speedy. Harris will await the scoring. Oneon, one out. And two down. Jurgson. Proofart. Bouncer right side and through for a base hit. Harris heads to third and the three gets passed over towards the sidewall and ProFar moves up to second. Harris holds at third base and now the table is set for the Braves. Matt Olsen with Ronald Akuna Jr. on deck. Runners at second and third. Third shower of the day coming through. 3-2 and a liner into left center field. Harris scores. Here comes ProFar and Matt Olsen through the raindrops gives the Braves a three to one lead here in the fifth. Again, everything had been away. Looked like maybe they were thinking in and Steven Matz did not get it there. And how about the reaction for Matt Ols and that had to feel good for him. Another long at bat. 10 pitches there to drive in two runs here for the Braves. Some big fat raindrops that are coming down right now. And here comes the tar. Second rain delay at the ballpark. Atlanta’s just taken a 3-1 lead here in the fifth inning. It is about 6:30 local time here in St. Louis. We’ve endured two or three very long rain delays. Blue skies are overhead. At least patchy blue skies. This has been perhaps the most unusual game before an All-Star break I can remember. Bottom of the fifth inning. Jesse Chavez is out of the Braves bullpen to get things started for the Atlanta bullpen. Victor Scott from the brand new hurler. Jesse Chavez and a leadoff walk. That’s how things start in the Cardinals fifth. We got two outs. You got to get into scoring position I would think for Burley. That one served into the gap in left center. That’ll get down for a base hit. Victor’s going to try for third. The throw on target but late. So Victor Scott flies around the bases and Berles with a two out single keeps the fifth inning alive. Go ahead run now at the plate in Wilson Contrarus who does have 12 homers. High pop into shallow right. Akuna coming on. Still coming. He can’t get there. One run is in. Here comes Berles. He will score. It falls in no man’s land. It’s a blue pit and a tie game. That is a win-win for the Cardinals right there. You see, I’ll take it. Here we go. Got a whole new game. It’s a win at first for Jos Fairine. Fine pulls his hands in. That’s driven deep to left. Fine has hit a homer. What a time for your first big league homer. Well, that is a baseball that Jose Fermine is going to have to get back. First of the year for Fermine and a big blast here in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Cardinals are on top once again. To the seventh we go back to the top of the order with one out and a runner at third. Ken, but a good night for Profar. Two for three, couple of singles and a ground ball to the right side. Harris coming home to score. Jericken Profar comes through for the Braves making it five to four. I think they they say that Graceo missed the bag. Yeah, Graceo, his case is going to be that, you know, his pinky toe kind of brushed up against it, but we’ll see if there’s really video evidence to confirm that. I mean, Jeremy React, the first base umpire, had the best view. He was right on top of it. After review, the call on the field stands. The runner is safe. St. Louis will lose its challenge. The call stands. Braves have cut it to one. 54 our score. Top of the eighth we go. Single and a walk with two outs. Now Harris is up and he’s got two hits versus Riley O’Brien. runners go. Strike came out. Two Braves are stranded. Cardinals lead by one and have Ryan Helley set to finish it off. It will be Marcel Ozuna to pinch hit and he works a leadoff arm. Luke Williams will come on and pinch run for Ozuna. Williams at first not running. The 3-2 pitch is fouled back. Proofar with a good rip at a slider there. Oliver Marmal just got tossed from this game. Ollie not happy with balls and strikes. That’s what my lip reading said. He was mad about no strike three to Ozuna. He was mad about no strike three to Proofar and Oliver Marmal ejected from the game here in the ninth inning. Ali fighting for his team, fighting for his pitcher here. Let’s see if Daniel Dowso can help the Red Birds wrap this one up. And two are out in the inning. Williams at third, Akuna at first. And now our nemesis Shawn Murphy is the final Atlanta hoe. Little chopper left side. That should do it. And the bank to first in time and the Cardinals head to the break with a 54 victory over Atlanta. Boy, that was a hardfought victory. Cardinals hang on and win five to four in a game that took a very long time. It was worth the wait.

  1. MLB is in bed with gambling.. fan duel, draft kings.look at the empty seats. All over league. Something shady is going on to keep this nonsense afloat financially. Players shouod be working in car washes or fast food ..

  2. Giving up wins to some of the worst teams in baseball, finally got one. Should have another 5 W's between Braves/Pirates and would be in contention.

  3. It's not how you START but how you FINISH !!!!!! Folks, UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) hit the All-Star Break with MOMENTUM before their second-half surge. The squad goes 116-46, TAKES the NL Central, MAKES the postseason once again and in three/four months (depending on when the games are in October/November), HUDDLES around a World Series trophy for an unprecedented TWELFTH time!

Victor Dwanyne Scott II, a TONE-SETTER … In the bottom of the second inning, the 24-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, gets the offense rolling by SMASHING an RBI single to center field, driving in Masyn Blaze Winn!

In the bottom of the fifth inning, a teammate hits an RBI double to right field, bringing in Victor Dwanyne Scott II and Alec Michael Burleson.

José Miguel Fermín, OH MY GOODNESS !!! In the bottom of the sixth inning, the 26-year-old from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, DEMOLISHES A BOMB to left field, sending Masyn Blaze Winn to the plate.

What a GARBAGE ejection on manager Oliver Jose Marmol in the top of the ninth inning! Felt SO GOOD to not only beat the opposing team, but the biased umps, too.

Y'all, a STANDING OVATION for CLEAR-CUT Cy Young Award winner Sonny Douglas Gray, the 35-year-old from Smyrna, Tennessee! In THREE innings, GIMME FIVE massive strikeouts. HATS OFF to Steven Jakob Matz, Gordon Joseph Graceffo, Riley Chun-Young O'Brien and Ryan Dalton Helsley, all part of the best bullpen in the league, for the PERFECT defense!

    TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY

  4. The Cardinals NEED far better hitting outfielders.
The Cardinals NEED dominant starting pitchers.
The Cardinals need the ability and talent to overcome the Cubs and Brewers.
Mo is happy if the Cards get the 3rd wild card spot.
