HEATED DEBATE 🔥 Dan Orlovsky SOUNDS OFF on Damien Woody’s BOLD Cowboys take 🗣️👀 | First Take
All right, so we are officially one week away from the start of, you guessed it, Damen Woody, Cowboys training camp. After an offseason full of trades, the Cowboys look to rebound from a disappointing finish last year. Dallas finished third in the NFC East and missed the playoffs for the first time in four years. In the offseason, Dallas traded for George Pickkins and hired Brian Shottenheimer as head coach. Damen, you have high hope. What? One second. Let’s check out this off. You have a healthy Dak Prescott playing a full set of games with the weapons that they have on offense. Dallas should be, in my opinion, a top five offense in the National Football League. Obviously, with the acquisition of George Pickings, Mike Ted upon it, the offensive line, three first rounders. They should be much improved. How you feeling about that sound? I stand by it. Okay, you stand by. Top five offense. Yep, I see it. Explain explain that prayer, Dan. Top five in the NFL. Mhm. Yep. They’re not going to be top five in the conference, let alone the NFL. Let me say it’s closer than you think. Before last season in points, first in 2023, fourth first year before that. Okay. So, there are three straight years of top five with Dak Prescott at the helm. I understand. Top five in the league. Top five in the league. Are they going to be better than Philly on offense? No. No. I’m just saying it’s not They going to be better than Minnesota on offense. They’re going to be better than the Rams on offense. They’re going to be better than the Packas on offense. They’re going to be better than the Cowboys. I think you’re I think you’re getting into teams where they might be better than Yeah. Who? I think the P the Cowboys. First of all, the Cowboys are going to finish third in the division. This is not a pro Cowboys take for me. Okay. But I think the offense and Dak I think you you look at the numbers whenever he comes off an injury. He has he kind of kind of goes scorcher a little bit. Top 10, top 12. We could have a conversation. I think I think you’re looking at like seventh. I think you’re looking at seventh third best place in the division. I still I still stand by to that means you’re that means you’re telling me that you think they’re going to be better than like the Bucks and the Rams offensively. I I here’s what Here’s what I will say. Here’s what I will say. I think to me I think a lot of it’s predicated. We talk about Dak Prescott. When Dak Prescott plays a full set of games, Dallas traditionally has been like one of the one of the best offenses in the league. There’s no question about that. I think a lot is predicated on Dallas Cowboys offensive line. Yeah, I think that if the Dallas Cowboys offensive line, which they heavily invested in as far as draft capital, if those guys come together, there’s no question in my mind that the Dallas Cowboys would be a top five with the weapons that they have. Wide receivers, tight end, they they got it. I love you, dude. I And I I agree. I I I have been on the I think the Cowboys will be better than people expect train this year, but we’re you’re sitting here telling me that you think if that all comes together, they’ll be better than Philly. Maybe not. So it let’s say hold Can we stop there? Okay, let’s talk about Philly. Pastor Woody coming out. Let’s stop. Let’s Let’s start with Philadelphia. New offensive coordinator. New offensive coordinator. He’s been there. Yeah, but new play caller. Yeah. Okay. Are we are we sure that that the train is just gonna keep rolling in Philadelphia just this this elite offense? Are we sure about that? No, because the last because the last the last time we had an offensive change Yeah. with Jaylen Hurst didn’t work out so well, did it? Correct. Okay. Correct. But if let’s I’m putting Philly in there as a top five. So I’m saying Philly, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincy, like that’s my top four probably right there. And then we’re getting into a conversation of Washington, Kansas City. You’re not going to be a top five offense. Dallas going to be right there. Let me go through this. Let me play both sides, which is what I’m best at. Uh Detroit, number one in the league last year, new play caller, 33 points per game. Buffalo number two, they’ll stay there. Baltimore number three, they’ll stay there. Tampa Bay, new play caller. They were number four in the league. Washington number five. Okay. Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Green Bay, right after that. I think you’re looking at Dallas in that range in the 27 points per game with Philly, with Green Bay, Minnesota was around there. I think you’re looking at more of that than you are Buffalo Baltimore over 30. You think that Phil that Dallas will score 28 a game this year? Yeah, that would put them seventh, eighth, something like that around Philly. Listen, if the if the Cowboys have a top eight offense, then they’re not finishing third in the division then. Well, unfortunately, Washington and and Philadelphia would be would score would be in top eight as well. I just a stacked division. I just don’t I agree. I want to say stacked, but I think that there is a massive three good teams. There’s a Giants. Three good teams. Massive expectation for Washington this year. You guys then are looking at what Dallas has as the weapons and you’re looking at everybody around them. Like what what is the actual gap here? And does 27 points per game like that is automatically going to put you there by virtue of the scoring? 27 was like a seventh or eighth. Yeah. And that’ll get you’re going to get you’ll be a 10, seven, 11 and six football team with that then unless your defense is just atrocious. And I don’t think Dallas is will. It’s not a massive gap. No. Like there is you could be sixth in the NFL and score 27 and you could be 10th in the NFL and score 266. So like there it’s not a massive gap. But I do think that it’s fair to say like if we take Dallas presently constructed and let’s say the Minnesota offense presently constructed, who do you not want to play against more? You the answer for Dan is Minnesota. Clearly Listen, I’m I’m bullish on Minnesota, but we’re talking Dak Prescott, JJ McCarthy’s first year. Woody, there’s no way. I’m Come on, Dan. Let’s let Come on D. Like like like Hold on. you. Now, you’ve you’ve heard me be bullish on Minnesota, but we also got to keep things in perspect. Dak Prescott, JJ McCarthy, come on now. Yeah. Are we are we going to sit here and disrespect Dak Prescott like that right now? No, but people will would much rather play against Dallas’s offense than Minnesota’s. Well, I mean, because of the play caller and and but I’m just saying like like Dak Prescott, like Jack, who would you rather play, Dallas or Tampa Bay? Offensively, Dallas or Tampa Bay, brother. Stop. The word today has been context. Dallas or Green Bay. I don’t know. Like, what? You been You sliding up like Listen, you just been No, I am. Listen, I’m not one of these people that’s going to be, you know, um, pushing down the Dallas Cowboy. I think Dallas I think Dallas offensively is going to be one of the best teams in the National Football League. Top 10, one of the best teams in the National Football League. Wow. Do you think that Dallas has the capability to score more points this year than Washington or Philadelphia in that division? Um I think they got more that I think they can do more than than Washington. Boo. Now we’re bumping. It’s time to That’s the second time you hit the You think Dallas’s offense would be better than Washington’s? No, you ain’t convicted. He’s trying to spin it. You ain’t convicted. You can see the wheels turning. He’s trying. Welcome back. The league’s top quarterbacks will look to turn the page this season after each having disappointing endings to the 2024 season. The Chiefs, well, they became the first team to make the Super Bowl after winning the previous two. But Patrick Mahomes was sacked a careerhigh six times in a 40 to22 loss to the Eagles. 2024 looked like it was finally the year for the Bills. Buffalo tied a franchise record with 13 wins. And Josh Allen won his first MVP, but again, took an L to Mahomes in the AFC title game. And the Ravens, well, they won the AFC North again, but they’ve yet to reach the Super Bowl in the Lamar Jackson era, falling short in the divisional round to Josh Allen and the Bills 2725. and Joe Burrow. Well, an MVP level season was basically wasted as the Bengals missed the playoffs for the second straight year. Cincinnati finished third in the AFC North. Burrow won comeback player of the year, though. Woo. That was That’s a tough way to review the 2024 season for all those guys. Yeah. Yeah, it’s tough. There’s some tough realities. Uh life is hard. Uh Kevin, what we got here? Which quarterback which four which top four quarterback do you see women winning a Super Bowl next? Lamar Jackson. And this year, I think I look at Lamar, he’s incredible. Uh I believe it was over 10 yards last year, 18 touchdowns, one interception. He is progress. He’s getting better every single year. And then you look at the roster, and that’s the difference to me. Any of these quarterbacks who win the Super Bowl, they probably should win the Super Bowl every year when you look at their talent, but it comes down to a couple of differences. I’m looking at this Ravens defense. I’m looking at the first round pick, Malachi Starks out of Georgia. He’s going to open up Kyle Hamilton to be probably one of the best defensive players in football. You look at the way they were able to play the second half of last year. Uh I think they were second best yards per play in all of the NFL in the second half of last year on the defense. So I think you’re going to see more of that. You’re going to see a dominant Ravens team. Lamar Jackson wins his first Super Bowl in Santa Clara in just a few months. Dan going Patrick Mahomes to see no one surprised. Listen, no component say four and five. Yeah. Listen, I I might I might just do that. I mean, we’re talking about the same guy again, like I said early in the first hour. Talking about the same guy that had the worst personnel around him around him and since he’s been with Kansas City and all he did was took him to Super Bowl. They’re going to be better this year, guys. They’re going to be better. Primary thing offensive line is going to be better. Do we understand what Patrick Mahomes was what he was operating behind last year with a guard? And and listen, no slight to Joe Tuni. Joe Tuni is a awesome awesome player, but he playing out of position. Okay, they go out and they address the offensive line. Hollywood Browns coming back. Xavier Worthy, second year uh second year as a wide receiver. It’s Patrick Mahomes, baby. Come on. Come on. I’m going Lamar. It has to be Lamar. It’s the third year in a row for Baltimore. It just is. Like, it’s the third year in a row where, and I’ve said this a hundred times on this show, Lamar knows it. That organization knows it. They got to go win it. This is the third year that we’ve sat here and said like that’s the best team. Two years ago they had the number one defense in football and they fell short. And then last year they had the number one offense in football and fell short. This is the best roster in the NFL outside of Philadelphia. Its offensive line is going to be top three. Lamar’s coming off of arguably his best season in the NFL. Their perimeter players are fantastic. One of the things that was part of storyline last year that hasn’t talked about enough is Zay Flowers being out of that playoff game was absolutely massive. And I just think like when we that were down at tight end do for NFL Live Laura Rutled and I we asked Isaiah likely what is it going to take who’s their you know kind of like second tight end but he’s him and Marker. What is it going to take? And in his words we have to not forget who we are in the playoffs that and we’ve talked about that on TV before and sometimes people like you’re talking it that’s a real thing. is like they’ve got to remember who they are when it matters the most. Last year’s a dropped two-point conversion away from maybe being a different narrative. It has to be Lamar. The next guy for me would be Josh. Okay. I was just about to say it would be I don’t think Josh’s team is as good as Baltimore’s. And my only push back to Patrick would be this. I agree with you that you think they’re going to be better. It’s no question the toughest division he’s played in. Well, and I’m I’m glad you brought that up. I think I think it the the the road for Patrick Mahomes is about to get much harder forward because Denver for for folks out there, watch out, watch out for Denver. Denver is one of those sleeper teams in the in the AFC. That’s going to be a major problem. The Chargers are going to be a major problem. And oh by the way Pete Carol and Gino Smith you know with the law gives me reservation like that’s this is a this will be the hardest journey for Pat. Okay, just to round out the conversation, nobody has said anything about Cincinnati defense. Gosh, right now best defensive players not signed. Their first round pick not signed. Who plays the same position? Not signed. Last year they had the 32nd best offensive line when it comes to pass protection in the NFL and Joe still did what he did. So just it’s been a muddy, noisy, ugly, dirty off season. The I tell you, the Bengals have been bangling. Yeah, that’s the problem. They have been bangling. They had so much momentum, you know, when they when they signed both of their wide receivers and then all of a sudden now they don’t want to sign their best one of their best players and Trey Hendrickson, their first round pick isn’t like they’re going they’re reverting back to being the Bengals again. He’s at such a disadvantage, Burrow is because every other owner and front office of those elite quarterbacks all in, they make the moves. They say, “We’re going to fix this.” The Bengals say, “Yeah, we’ll see. We’ll see. We’re not going to rush this Trey Hendrickson thing. We’re not going to rush this thing.” There’s not much. I mean, just for again the to kind of re make that point is Joe had historically great season. Jamar had a historically great season and they didn’t get in. Not much is different with that team. Which one of these guys is under the most pressure or has the most? It’s not even close. You don’t think between Lamar and everybody else? It’s Lamar and everybody else. I just I feel like Josh is right there in that same sort of combo. He just he just came off his first MVP. Like we all thought last year was the year. No, you’re right. I would You’re right. You’re right. Me saying it’s not close is is is inaccurate. It’s It’s Lamar and Josh, but it’s Lamar. It’s It’s It’s Lamar. Who’s got Who’s got more MVPs? Lamar. Um, who’s got the the better roster? Lamar. Trust y’all. Lamar. Who’s played worse in the playoffs? Oh, can I Here’s my only push back. Here’s my only push back to you. Here’s my only push back. Lamar’s 28. There’s a runway. There’s still a runway. Are you closing? You’re saying it’s a dangerous game to play. Are you closing it or it’s open? It’s still open. It’s open. But no, I listen. I understand what Dan By the way, that’s St. I understand. That’s a good one. Uh I understand where Dan is coming from, but it’s just like I don’t know. Like we like you’re talking with a sense of urgency like like Lamar’s like 37 36 years old. No, but but but what what I am talking about is you have a three-year window when you unequivocally roster-wise are like, “We are awesome. We’re just as good as anybody else and you haven’t gotten it done.” You’re not going to have six or sevenyear windows like that. You just won’t. Buffalo actually will be a much better roster next season because of the cap relief that they’ll get post the Stefon Dicks trade. That last year was actually the year where they thought there would be a significant step back and they were going to eat it and then rebuild. Baltimore, you you only stockpile that much young talent for so young when your quarterback is at his absolute best. Okay, let me let me ask you because the the question was who has the the most at stake at stake? Yeah, I’m throwing out Trevor Lawrence out but he’s not in that class. But I know what you’re No. Okay. No, I I think Okay. Well, I think we’re we’re two different like you talking about the out of the I guess out like the top of that group. Do we need Kevin back? But here’s the difference. Here’s the difference. You just want to see Jaden Daniels up there again. There’s nothing at stake. Here’s the difference between the Lamar and Josh points. While they’re probably relatively equal with like the pressure like, “Hey, you got to go get it done.” Lamar has been a lesser player in the postseason than the regular version of himself where Josh has been equally, if not better, a postseason player than he was in the regular season. Josh has lost to Patrick because of what Patrick has done. Lamar has lost to Patrick in part because what Lamar has done and that’s that’s the that’s why the pressure is is different in my perspective between those two guys. Yeah. All right. Well made. It’s good. It is a you you I I I was kind of on the fence. I thought they were tied. I think you’re right. [Music]

Philly and dallas are going to be ducking it for the nfc east…. Back to regular scheduled programming
the cowboys are gonna win that opening game arent they?
This is just propaganda to further coddle Josh Allen. Come back to this around November and the media will be saying Allen and the bills are the best team in football then when they lose in the playoffs it will shift to well Allen had no help and we didn’t expect them to make it that far.
Can't wait to play them cowgirls😂😂😂
top 5 offense? what?
Dan acting like the cowboys aren’t a 10 to 11 win team with Dak is just misinformation lol they just use to lose in the playoff all the time but definitely a good regular season team
Seriously tho, yall don’t get tired of talking about these irrelevant Cowboys, EVERY YEAR!??!!??
It’s because Lamar Jackson so good we just can’t fathom him not winning a superbowl 😂
Good thing about all this talk is that we will get to see it unfold in real time. DC4Life.
D and d my favorite duo is back
So Washington has one good season and all a sudden Dallas is 3rd in the division..we all know when Daks healthy he owns Washington New York
And always splits with the eagles so Dan needs to 🛑 stop
The last time you had an offensive coordinator change in Philly was hiring Kellen Moore which resulted in a super bowl
Yes we have the best offense dak, ceedee, Pickens, blue, 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 cowboys ✨
Where stephen a at
Dan you were a very good in the nfl and your crazy for being agent the boy
Bills are gonna slip this year just watch
2 minutes in the guy said the cowboys will finish 3rd in the division. So they are worse than 2 teams in their own division but better than the other 3 division winners? Lol
We know who pays the bills
The problem with ravens is coaching and play calling when they get in playoffs
Its the season of 24/7 Cowboys
I Kent you weren't a good player in nfl
Yes better
Crazy how offensive linemen are never mentioned when QB's do well, only when they have down years.
Actually the last time eagles had a OC change they won the SB😂
Dak lead the league in TDs 2 year's ago lmao
Are yall just bored why do u guys continue to talking about Dallas there not a contender rn
Dan O -" BROTHER, STOP."
white version of "🥷 please" 😂
Lamar Jackson had his best season and didnt win the mvp. He was robbed and not enough people spoke about it
The Ravens defense is going to be deadly.
Cowboys ain't doing nothing. Stop.
How does Buffalo have a better offense than Baltimore? We need Shannon and SA back ASAP
DANO BABY LETS GO
They have been top 5 in offense and it led to nothing so who cares.
Washington Philadelphia Detroit Green Bay San Francisco 😂😂😂😂
Dan orlovsky is acting like Dak hasn’t had the #1 offense in the league more than once… dude just hates on the cowboys for clicks.
Minnesota…. we haven't even seen JJ play
Cowboys looked like 💩 before Dak went down last year. These analysts seem to have forgot.
DW conveniently dancing past the fact that Dallas has no run game to speak of a new HC no Zack Martin, 2 diva WRs, an avg defense and a QB coming off injury w only 1 career playoff win in 10yrs😂
who is running the ball for dallas? Retreads or rookies? where are the tightends? offensive is selling hope cookies…do you really trust steele and guyton? love my cowboys but boys in trouble😔
