Never a fan of anyone going after the guys on socials regardless of if the criticism’s warranted, but props to Casey for responding this way

A lot of respect for him given that response. A lesser man would’ve crashed out.
Cooked his ass

You can criticize all you want (I’ve been negative here plenty), but actually sending something to the athlete like he’s gonna say “you know what mjk_120 is right” is dumb as fuck
Woah levelheaded and chill thank you Casey Schmidt congrats on the career year.
Love Casey!
If only Bailey could’ve put down a damn bunt ughhh
A lot of people in this subreddit and on social media in general wouldn’t know baseball fundamentals if it hit them in the face at 90 mph.
If players or coaches came to Reddit and commented, some of you would also look like foolish fools
He also liked comments from other fans telling OP to “shut up” and “learn ball” lmao. Personally, I think it’s great when people get called out publicly.
I get what he’s saying, but if he gets to third, a wild pitch or a pass ball wins it. This makes it so the catcher can’t call anything too crazy and it put the pressure on both catcher and pitcher. The chance isn’t high that it would change anything, but you still need to do everything in your power to increase the chance of the team winning, even if it just 1%. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain by going to 3rd. The ball was hit plenty deep for him to get there.
TBF, in this specific situation (extras and a score wins) he should have at least tagged up. If he reads that it might be caught off the bat he needs to get that 90 feet and get to 3rd. If he things is going to be over his head, then he need to be way closer to 3rd to ensure he scores. He was only like 3 steps off seconds so he was in no man’s land. Getting to 3rd puts extra pressure on the pitcher and catch for balls in the dirt. Against a righty it also means he can see the runner from the stretch so he can plan mind games with him.
Schmitt shows some great character by not losing it over a comment like that. He is obviously correct. He probably sees those types of comments all the time but doesn’t respond because it’s usually not worth it and he’s got games to prepare for. But it being the all start break he’s got some time to educate people without making a huge deal out of it.
I made the mistake of saying he should have tagged on the Devers ball yesterday, but there was indeed one out instead of none. Which is one of the many many reasons why I’m not a major leaguer.
