BREAKING: SAN JOSE SHARKS RE-SIGN JACK THOMPSON TO A ONE-YEAR, TWO-WAY DEAL
The San Jose Sharks signed defenseman Jack Thompson to a one-year two-way deal. I’m JD Young of Lock on Sharks and Sharks resigned Thompson to a one-year deal worth up to $800,000. Uh Thompson split his time between the Sharks and the Barracuda. Last season with the Sharks, he played 31 games, we had four goals and six assists. And in 27 games with the Barracuda, three goals and 11 assists. Uh Jack Thompson should be fighting for an NHL job uh this training camp, but uh two-way deal indicates that the Sharks will probably try to get him onto the Barracuda uh where he can uh continue his development. He is uh no longer waivers exempt and will have to go through waiverss uh during training camp to get him on the Barracuda, but uh I still think the Sharks will be able to keep him in the organization. So, uh, Jack Thompson resigned to a new deal and should be a shark for the upcoming season.

I like this deal but I do wish we did a two year because he still is a solid ahl player with 7th d potential but I like this it shows this is his year to prove something
I’d rather keep him on the roster… and risk losing a guy like Liljegren or Desharnais! I believe this kid the way he walks the line, with his edge, work and skating ability is incredible and he’s the future! I am 100% positive that someone will scoop him up on waivers if he is dropped. Because of his ceiling and the unknown where he could go, that’s why I’m ready to risk one of the other two guys who are relatively well known, and we know what they’re ceiling will be most likely.
Don't understand the willingness to lose Liljegren. He was an OK 2nd pair RD. Thompson is 3rd pair RD at best.
I’m really high on Thompson. I think he’s gonna grow into a solid 2nd pair guy. Won’t have a stand out skill but will do everything very well. Can score. Him and Pohlkamp could be fierce on the right side. If we landed Verhoeff we could be set
