I haven’t seen Gary take over a game since Thanksgiving 2023. Can we post the actual sack numbers of all those other guys?
Minimum 1,000 snaps is *very* restrictive. There are some really, really good pash rushers that just haven’t been in the league long enough to accumulate 1,000 snaps.
The NFL isn’t played in an analytics lab. Gary’s making $25 million a year. He needs to produce. At one point last season he had just 1.5 pressures over 11 games. That’s insane. He’s been a letdown since signing that big contract.
Edit: 1.5 sacks in 11 games
Now do how many sacks he’s gotten versus those guys. He’s not on their level but should be.
Total number of players that have been in the league that long? Probably not a huge number. As you know this is a what-have-you-done-lately league and THAT is what matters. Contracts are not really given out for lifetime achievements, this is not the academy awards.
Pressure rate is subjective. Sacks are objective.
Pressure rate is all well and good but doesn’t mean much without finishing the play. Micah Parsons has 13 more sacks in 2 fewer years than Gary.
My understanding is he’s one of the best in the league at run defense too. Not the main thing but we got killed by the run for years, so it’s not nothing.
I think he just didn’t perform to people expectations last season so they’re pissed? Idk. He got paid and now people are thinking he’s not giving a shit anymore is what I feel.
Anyone claiming Gary is anywhere close the other guys on that list is delusional
I feel like he was good in 2023-24, why is everyone shitting on him after one mediocre season in a new defensive scheme? It wasn’t even a terrible season at the end.
He’s definitely a good player, just not upper echelon. And that’s ok. He’s the 9th highest paid pass rusher in the league between Sweat and Van Ginkel. Sweat only had 5.5 sacks last season, Gary had 7.5 and Van Ginkel had an outlier year with 11.5.
Yah he gets close but the impact isn’t felt the same as the others on that list. He’s has had moments, but isn’t a game wrecker. Cooper will be our game wrecker on defense it’s just a matter of time…
All you guys saying pressure rate is an empty stat…. It’s just not true. Getting pressure on a QB and forcing a bad throw or chasing them out of bounds ends in the same result…. Loss of a down. I guess he does lack some eye popping flashy moments but I pay very close attention and IMO he’s a very good player at his position. I’d say top 10. I think he gets an unfair rap from most of us Packer fans.
Are people making the argument that rashan Gary is as good as Myles? Really?
Criticism =/= hate. Rashan is great, but those other guys can take over games. I hope he can get to that level after another year in Hafley’s system. We’ll see.
Naw it’s not…he had a very slow start last year coming off injury. He had some good pressure games eventually but hoping we don’t see the declined value after we paid him. So much to ask when we paid the guy already?
People forget Gary’s SNORP Rating is higher than Micah’s.
Additionally Gary’s BLEEP BLOOP Metrics are the highest in the league ever since we began tracking
The hate comes mostly from box score scouts. It’s been relatively accepted analytically that pressures are damn near as valuable as sacks. You can cherry pick the low sack numbers end of season, but they don’t tell the whole story. The pressures help guys like X set franchise turnover records. I’m excited to watch the continued growth.

Gary is a high-end defender.
The fans of Green Bay have had a love hate relationship with linebackers for a long time. I have a feeling that if the same fans were around when Nitchke played they’d complain because Butkus was better. AJ Hawk lead the team in tackles many times and everyone hated on him. They loved Matthews until they didn’t.
The concerning thing is he’s been mid since after the Lions 2023 (week after he got paid). His pressure rate #s were like half his career average last year. Now there is a reason our DL coach got axed as well
