  1. Pretty much what we expected at $23m APY. Glad to have it out of the way and get the season started.

    Let’s goooooooo

  2. Happy about this, let’s hope Kingsley can play guard well so we can have both guard positions done for a few years at least

  3. Gaht DAYUM…Swear to god Veach is an absolute MASTER with managing the salary cap…

I’m terrified about it all collapsing at some point, though…

  4. Alright well, big man better play like the best RG in the league then. He’s helped us win two super bowls though, so I’m happy he got his. I’m also really happy for creed, he bud is sticking around much longer

  5. More money than I wish we had invested at the OL tbh, but I love Creed and Trey so I’ll let it slide

  6. What a relief! Huge contract, but it would’ve been a big whiff to trade Thuney and also fail to secure Trey. Happy for him and the team!

  7. It pays him well for the immediate future and locks him and Creed together through their prime. It will likely be a big value compared to other G contracts by the end of it.

  8. Let’s be honest, we got him so fucking cheap over his first 4 years, and he’s played so damn good, this contract is more like over 8 years instead of 4. Well deserved. Very happy for him.

  9. glad we got this done, O-line is the most important pieces for mahomes, hes already shown he can win with not the best WR room , if we can get the other guard position signed cherry on top

  10. Well that’s about what I expected. So many were saying $22 mil APY and $50 mil ish guaranteed but those projections always seemed optimistic.

Trey’s a great player, glad he got his money. I just hope Veach can continue tight roping the salary cap because it’s only gonna get more difficult from here.

Edit: It’s $94 mil according to Rapaport and others. So actually $23.5 mil. Yeesh.

  11. I don’t love paying top money for a right guard but at least no matter what happens with tackle and LG we’ll always be able to count on Creed and Trey on the O-line in the future.

  12. It would be nice to see them max out the cap hit this year since we aren’t adding a whole lot at this point. I don’t mean take up every bit of space, but I’m thinking his cap hit doesn’t drop below $23m.

If my memory serves we have about 11, 12m in cap space, so if that’s correct. I’m thinking of having a cap hit of no more than 26.

Typically contracts are structured for cap relief immediately. Since this is happening in July, maybe that’ll be flipped with Treys and we have more cap relief next year and the follow years — how ever that would be structured.

Just a few rambling thoughts of mine. Regardless, I’m glad it got done. Go chiefs!
