[Video] Byron Buxton: “I can’t be traded. I gotta no-trade clause. I’m a Minnesota Twin for the rest of my life. So that’s the best feeling in the world, knowing I get to walk into a clubhouse and it’s going to say ‘Twins’ for the rest of my life. I’m a Twin, it’s home”

I love how he was taken aback by the question. Buck was giving off the impression that he hadn’t even considered being traded for a moment.
What a season he’s having, and what a guy he is. Absolutely fills my heart to have him so committed to this team.

Give him a standing ovation at the first home game other side of the break.
This is an answer I like a lot more than Joe Ryan’s answer to a similar question where he says getting traded would be exciting but sad
Buxton being so genuinely proud to be a Minnesota Twin, makes me so proud to be a fan of his!
Fuck yeah, love this man. We need more of these vibes from the team if we’re going to actually get anywhere
I remember watching the 2012 draft and comparing his reaction to being drafted. Honestly, I thought he didn’t look all that excited. Especially compared to Jose Berrios, who broke down in tears of joy. I thought then that Buxton would probably leave first chance he got.
I am delighted to have been proven wrong regarding that, and truly appreciate Buck’s commitment to the team. If anything since then he has shown outstanding character towards all fans and the game. I look forward to seeing Buck in a Twins jersey for the rest of his career.
Dashing the hopes of coastal MLB reporters with a smirk on his face. I love this man!
The quote itself on the other post felt like he definitely wants to be here but seeing and hearing his response is so much more genuine. It could’ve been the same quote but given in a way that he didn’t want to talk about it but more so replied in a way that shows he wants to be there
I’m glad he’s here for life. Wouldn’t be able to stomach him on another team
This dude is a fan’s wet dream.
Edit: my friend tells me anyway.

Usually I just cheer for laundry when it comes to pro sports but I would cheer for buxton wherever he played. The fact he wants it to be here is extra special
That’s our dude!
Him and Pablo. Love them to pieces. I hope Pablo sticks around as well, especially after his stint in the announcer’s booth with Morneau, Perkins and Plouffe. That was pure gold and pure Pablo.

It seems so few professional athletes don’t have any loyalty to a team. It’s really heartwarming to hear this as a lifelong twins fan. Hopefully before he retires we can win something pennant? World series? Go twins!
It’s not gay if this gives you an erection.
Had to change my flair after seeing this
He’s the best.
Humble. Rarely complains. My favorite Twin of all time (sorry Kirby)
The dude is GOLD!!!!! Simple as that!!
Buck Daddy, I love him!
It’s so refreshing to see. How many divas play in other sports who constantly demand to be traded (Stefon Diggs, Antonio Brown, Jimmy Butler, etc.) it gets so old fast.
I’m sure there are some divas in MLB, but I feel like we don’t hear them that much. Maybe there are more family men that want to keep their families put? Or the fact that there’s no salary cap (minus luxury tax threshold penalties) means that teams always have room to re-sign and extend players.
He had a few years overlap with Mauer. I wonder if seeing that, along with the love the community has for guys like Tony Olivia who remained involved with the team even after retirement influenced his answer.
Either way, I hope in 15ish years we get a game with Buck and Pablo in the booth.
🥲🥲👍
That’s it, I’m getting a Buxton jersey
