Blue Jays Trade Rumors HEATING UP! New Target Confirmed! (Toronto Blue Jays Trade News)

Hello everybody and welcome back to Blue Jays today. We’re your boys. We always got something to say about the Toronto Blue Jays. I’m your host Adam Paddle and I’m your host Nicholas Playalog. The trade rumors are starting to escalate folks now that we’re in the All-Star break and the Toronto Blue Jays are still number one in the AL beast at this point. Uh we got some rumors that are definitely heating up on that hot stuff. We’re going to get into one of them and discuss the likelihood of a big trade happening with the Toronto Blue Jays in this one. Before we do, please make sure to hit that like, smash the subscribe button, and of course, let us know your thoughts in the comments down below. Blue Jays need pitching. This is a story as old as time. And a pitcher that they are being linked to right now is Mr. Zack Allen over there in the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yeah, Zack Allen. So, shout out to Bob Nightingale who came on the podcast uh and he actually brought it up to us initially, but then he goes on and writes about it again, how the Toronto Blue Jays are targeting Zack Gallon. And at first when I heard Bob Nightingale say it on our show, I was like, “Okay, very cool.” He was starting to heat up a little bit. He was starting to pick up the pace. But then you saw Zack Allen again have a blow up right before the All-Star break against the LA Angels. He only went five innings and he gave up six earned runs. that added to the total erra this season of 540 with a whip of 1.374. So the overall numbers for Zack Allen aren’t that good. Although Zack Allen in the past has been very good. I mean, he was looked as one of the most prolific starters in all of baseball. He’s had career years of 254 RA, 275 RA, but this season hasn’t been the best for Zack Allen. What do you think about this for the Blue Jays being linked to him even though he’s literally having a career worse? I I I think that this is somebody who is a really talented baseball player. I think that you can see the consistency there when you look over at his career stats. He’s got a career year array of three and a half. So, this is somebody that can do it at the major league level, but right now there is something wrong with his game. I don’t know what it is because I am not Pete Walker. I am not I am not the guy to be able to figure out that his arm angle is doing this when it should be doing that. But honestly, if you are Pete Walker, if you are the Toronto Blue Jays and you’re actually seriously interested in trading for Zack Allen, then you need to know what the problem is and you also need to know what the solution is because this is somebody who if you can unlock that previous form, if you can unlock what he’s done in the past, bang, immediately our ace. Now we’re laughing. This is somebody that could at his ceiling pitch in game one in game two in the playoffs. That player is not this player right now. So I think that if the Blue Jays are going to be going out and getting him, they got to have a plan of action and figure out this is exactly what it is that Gallon needs to be doing differently. Yeah. Like maybe they do a you say Kikuchi thing and they know exactly what it is to fix him. But I’m I’m a little bit worried if the Blue Jays if this is their number one target. We don’t know this for sure, but if this was like the guy that they are looking at, they’re going after like sure you might be able to get a great deal from him and save some of your top prospects cuz he is only a rental piece for this season. But I’m a little bit worried like kind of risking, you know, our playoff run on Zack Allen, an experimental piece right now. I think I’d more likely want to go and get a guy who is a sure thing who’s got a mid3 RA. Even though I have been saying like, oh, don’t get another mid guy. This is probably the last guy honestly on my list. I don’t really want to get an experimental piece over here in Toronto for the next two months and try to fix them before the playoffs. Well, looking over at the Toronto Blue Jays roster right now, there is a uh I guess plethora of experimental pieces, you could say. Uh Max Scherzer is in the mix today. Will he be in the mix tomorrow? God only knows. Alec Manoa, he is rehabbing. The velocity looks good for Monoa. Uh his conditioning, by the way, looks pretty good. recent Instagram photos have this guy like thinned out like crazy. So, that’s awesome. But, will he be able to play at the MLB level? God only knows. How long is Eric Lowour going to stick around? Is Chris Basset going to be able to uh, you know, continue performing or is he going to slowly fall off? Cuz that’s been happening. To your point, there are already a ton of question marks in this rotation. And for me, Zack Allen, I am excited by him. I do think that he could provide something, but I also do tend to agree that like if this is the one and only acquisition the Toronto Blue Jays are going to be making this off seasonason or like their big their big move to to save the rotation and to bring good pitching back to Toronto. I I think you you got to be looking in the mirror. You have to know for certain. That’s what I mean when I say this. It’s like if you make this deal, you have to know for certain that they are going to be able to pull off a Usay Kikuchi thing like the Astros did and immediately transform and go, “Okay, stop throwing that. Start throwing this and bang, he’s back to what he’s doing.” But I don’t know if they know that or not. Yeah, it’s for the same point of why I keep saying that the Blue Jays need to be mortgaging the future in terms of, you know, Nal Savage. People get on me for that, but it’s true. The same reason why I don’t want to really trade for Zack Allen as our number one is because this opportunity doesn’t come around too often where we’ve got 55 wins the most in franchise history before the All-Star break. And I don’t want to really be putting my chips in the middle with you know, no offense Zack Allen, an 86 off suit if you understand poker right now. Like I don’t I don’t want to be risking on a guy that doesn’t look like the reward is worth it or you might not hit on the flop. You might not hit when you bring him over here in Toronto. I want to be bringing in a guy that is probably a little bit better. But unfortunately those guys are going to be costing a lot more. So if you miss out on a lot of guys like and you literally the only option left is Zack Allen. Well I guess but it would be a very disappointing car deadline in my opinion if that was what you ended up with. Yeah I I think that Gallon is somebody that I could look I I could definitely be interested in the Toronto Blue Jays making a deal there. But is that the only move that you make to that starting rotation or you know adding to your pitchers? I look at a team like Arizona. I mean that’s not the only good pitcher that they have. They have another guy over there who we’ve talked about before who is significantly better or at least this year significantly better than Zack Allen. The guy that I’m referring to is Mel Kelly. Now Bob Night andale didn’t write that the Toronto Blue Jays are, you know, targeting or looking at Mel Kelly. wrote that they’re targeting looking at Zack Allen, but I would hope that if you’re on the phone right now with the Arizona Diamondbacks talking to them about Zack Allen, you’ve also got to be talking to about the other guy who’s got a 2.1 war comparatively speaking to the guy who’s got zero war, right? So, you know what I mean? It’s like obviously to your point again, if they are really going to be putting their chips in the middle here and going all in, this is somebody that I could get behind much much easier, I I would say. Oh, yeah. and and this guy would be the best pitcher in our rotation. I mean, right now you got Jose Burio’s leading the pack. I mean, you could say Eric Lowour, actually, let’s give him some respect. Eric Lowry leading the pack, but looking for a bonafide stud who’s done it in the postseason before, who’s pitched there, Melro Kelly would be your dude with a almost three war, a 3.34 RA whip, close to one. Hey, you’re in the same shop. You know, if you’re shopping around, oh, there’s Zack Gallon that’s this price, but I really want that thing that’s a little bit priced more. Hey, maybe you go talk to them because they’re going to be they’re going to be sellers and Mor Kelly could be gone. Yeah, Arizona Diamondbacks are primed to be the biggest sellers potentially at this year’s trade deadline. Uh so honestly, if you’re in the mix there, if you’re already talking to them, if you’re already on the phone, then I would also be asking about Mel Kelly. Now, all of this ties together with a player that you brought up recently, Joe Ryan. Uh and the reason that it ties together is because this would be the bonafide ace. And that’s what Adam was suggesting when he talked about that in a recent video. However, the Minnesota Twins right now, this just came out. They are not currently discussing a Joe Ryan trade. Now, back to the content. That was somebody that I could really get behind. You know, trading away some of our top guys. Namala Savage, you name it. I’m ready to ship them off for a dude like Joe Ryan. If he is not available, then honestly, Mel Kelly starts to become one of the best alternative options. Zack Allen is still a major question mark, but it’s going to mean that the price tag, I think, on some of these other individuals will rise because there’s just not as many there’s not as many pitchers as there have been in in trade deadlines in the past. Yeah. like like this kind of quality of pitchers, you know, where you’ve got three years of control of Joe Ryan. You’ve got a guy who’s literally now backto-back seasons proven that he can be an ace level type of pitcher. In fact, this is his best season by far with a whip of close to 0.9. Yeah, it would cost you a lot. This would cost the farm system and then some cuz everybody’s going to be looking for Joe Ryan. But that’s why they’re not currently discussing it right now cuz obviously if he’s valuable to us, he’s valuable to the Minnesota Twins and they’re not that far away from being competitive in the next coming years. Joe Ryan will be be a big part of that. So unless you’re offering up some ready now MLB players and some big top prospects, they’re not going to part ways with Joe Ryan, which is unfortunate for the Blue Jays chance, they got to go find that pitching elsewhere. In conclusion, folks, uh, Toronto Blue Jays are seriously looking at Zack Gallon, which I think we can agree, we kind of like him, but would also love to be exploring some other options probably. Also too, I mean, if you Zack Gallons, me, I think I said this a little while ago, would love to target him in the off season. Correct. You know, sign him. That’s That’s where you got time to experiment. Exactly. That’s where we can fix him. We can figure it out. Uh, so if you’re trading for Pete Walker, you better have a plan. 1. I look at Zac Gallen very similarly to Jose Berrios. He's a phenomenal pitcher, his problem is that his back hip isn't unloading the weight properly in his Command. (Very similar to Berrios' in 2022).

  2. * A.L beast " ( A.L east ) ?? 😅 They have the worst record of the 1st place teams in the A.L…… i think you meant to say the " A.L mediocore "

  3. I still think gallen is a better bet especially if we can re sign him. The cost won’t be like what itd take to get Joe Ryan. I think jays are better suited to get a guy like gallen and a solid bullpen arm to either take over the closer role or to be sharing it with Hoffman. Only way I trade our top 2 prospects is if we grab a joe Ryan and a jhoan duran from mini

  4. I like Mitch Keller. Ik he’s not a lights out kinda guy. But he’ll be cheaper. And if the blue jays don’t go all the way then it’s less of a hit then going completely all in for 2 guys not knowing if they’ll change anything. Just a thought.

  5. Gallen has literally has had 1 bad year, and hes in the midst of it. A change may be what he needs. Hes got 110ks in 115 ip…..as long as the price is right, this is a NO BRAINER

  6. Just a caution to Ryan, his career first half is 3.25. His career second half is 4.75.

It may look like a career year for him, but he's always looking like this by the break

  7. If they are not going after an elite starter and some shut down relievers in the bull pen than it is an exercise in futility to even think they can make it to the playoffs.

  8. If you would ge dissappinted with Gallen then ur almost guaranteed to be disappointed cause he's about as good as available. Gallen's career better than kelley
