ONE BREAKOUT PLAYER FROM EVERY NHL TEAM FOR 2026!
Every single NHL season, we see multiple players breaking out into major roles. And today, I want to go through every single NHL team and predict my one breakout player from each. These could be prospects that break into the NHL, even players that are NHL that I think will have massive career years that I think are going to be breaking out in major ways. So, make sure you guys watch till the end as we go through every single team and my breakout picks for each. and hit that subscribe button if you’re new for more hockey content and rankings just like this all throughout the offseason as we cover basically anything you can think of. Now today we’re just going to go through the teams in random order and let’s start out with the Vegas Gold Knights. The team that has a couple options I would say for breakout picks, but one player that really intrigues me is Kayan Corzac out of the Decor who is something that just recently signed a pretty decent extension taking him to at least $3 million for Vegas on a multipleear deal, which I find fascinating because he hasn’t had a major role up until now. And yeah, signed a 4-year contract at 3.25 million, which is interesting because he only played 40 games this last season. Didn’t even play half of them for Vegas. Got 10 assists for 10 points. I thought looked pretty good in those games. is pretty responsible for his size and it’s somebody that I think projects well especially as a bottom pair defenseman just hasn’t quite gotten the opportunity to shine yet for the Knights but I think especially this next season a lot more deployment is going to be given to him a lot more ice time and I think he’s really going to start to make a name for himself as one of the Knights better success stories out of the draft and as you guys can see it’s taken him a while to get that opportunity he’ll be 25 this next January but it is starting to pay off and I think this night’s defense has enough opportunity for Cororac to shine now let’s move on next up to the Montreal Canadians I Told you guys it was random. Let’s go on to their breakout pick. And there’s a few options here. I could have gone for a Zack Buluk potentially. Maybe Jacob Deesh was able to get a lot more opportunity this next year, but I’d be kidding myself if my pick wasn’t Ivon Demadov. The potential maybe likely candidate for the Calder Trophy this next season. He is basically going to get an immediate top six spot on this Habs team. The speed, the skill, and how much he’s able to use those in conjunction. You can see the dominance going from the MHL to the KHL. and especially when he played those two games for Montreal in the regular season. I thought he looked like maybe Montreal’s best forward, maybe best player, and I think he has the potential to be that as soon as next season. We’ll see how the points end up coming out, but I think Demod is going to break out in a major way and immediately be an impact rookie. Now, let’s go on to the 2024 and 2025 Stanley Cup champs in the Florida Panthers. And there’s a couple options that I think are interesting. Macki Samuscich could have pretty easily been my pick. But I want to give a shout out to Denil Terasab, acquired by the Columbus Blue from the Columbus Blue Jackets, making just above $1 million this next season. But you can see the size checks the boxes. 6’5, $196. I didn’t really love him this last year for Columbus, but I thought he was solid last season with a 908 savers in 24 games and a backup role for the Blue Jackets. I think behind Babroski, he’s not gonna have to play too many games, but having the maturity of another Russian goalender like that to learn from, I think is really going to help a player like Terasov in the end. A lot of potential and we know Florida can tap into that. I think Terasov is going to do very well and really make a name for himself as an really solidified NHL goalie. Now, going on to my favorite team of the Dallas Stars and my breakout pick for them this next season, I’m going to go with Maverick Bourc at this selection. I think Bourke just makes complete sense here, right? I mean, didn’t play a ton of minutes when he did play last year for the Stars, but the trades of players like Mason Marchman that frees up a bit of space on the wings. You can see in 73 games, even with the limited spa space and time on the ice, he still did pretty well for himself, getting 11 goals and 25 points, getting more of an opportunity, I think, will be basically an essential for him this next year, he’s likely be on that middle six now and I think could play up in the lineup potentially into that top six at points. I think Bor has the potential to do that. I’ve always liked his skill, always liked how smart he was. I think that’s a reason why he will get more of an opportunity this next year. Now, going on to a much different forward here to the Edmonton Oilers. My one breakout pick might surprise you a bit because I’m going to go for Trent Frederick here. Somebody that is going to get clowned on because of the contract. And yes, the term is absolutely insane for a player of Frederick’s caliber. But I do think in Frederick’s case, he just wasn’t healthy throughout a big chunk of this season. We know he wasn’t healthy when he went to Edmonton. He had some fluctuating standards. And even though he did play in the playoffs, it just wasn’t a good time for him. He wasn’t 100% by any means and I think we can take all the Edmonton time and throw it out of the window. I think this next year though in a complimentary role with some of Edmonton’s best centers, I think Frederick is going to do well in those positions. Be kind of like your Vander Kane replacement really being a bang and crash pretty simplistic forward. The big thing that I want to see more of him is more assertion with that physical size be even more of a physical body because he has the potential to be that just hasn’t been able to fully unlock that standard. But I think in Edmonton you’ll feel that Evander Kane roll will be told to keep the game simple and I think he will getting around 40 50 points maybe even having a good careerhigh if he plays in that top six. I could have gone for a Matthew Seavoy potentially but I just have more of a feeling that a player like Frederick’s going to get higher in the lineup when it’s all said and done and likely score a lot more points because of it. Now let’s go on to the Philadelphia Flyers and my one breakout selection for them. I’m going to go here with Trevor Ziggress. And it’s not really going out on a limb by any means but I think in Ziggress’s case he’s the rebound candidate. I think he is the breakout candidate here for Philly. They traded for him for a reason. They see him as a big-time forward on this team. Whether that’s as a center or a wing is still a little bit out in the jury right now, but I think he’s going to get a massive opportunity no matter which position he ends up playing. Unfortunately, these last couple seasons have just been brutal because of the health issues and the weird deployment he’s had in Anaheim. Not having a good situation in relationship with Grave Groner whatsoever has certainly hurt his stock. But you can see before that in his first two full NHL seasons, he got backto-back 60 plus years points-wise, he to me just brings so much skill and that I think will eventually shine through in Philly, especially with the opportunity. They’re going to be giving him all the opportunity in the world. I think Ziggus is going to make the most of it and hopefully become even better of a two-way player, which I think he improved upon over the course of this last season. Just hasn’t really gotten the credit for it yet. Now, on to the St. Louis Blues. And we talked about Ivon Demadov as a big CER candidate for this next year. Let’s go on to Jimmy Snugroo, who I think is going to be a big breakout candidate. Somebody that I think is going to be pretty immediately in a top six role on that right wing and is going to be scoring a ton of points because of it in St. Louis as a pretty competent team, especially up the center of the ice. They’re going to have a lot of options to work with, but I just see Thomas and Jimmy Stugroot as just two perfect fits together for this next year. And you can see what he was capable of when he stepped into the NHL lineup, both the regular season and the playoffs, being a pretty impactful score already. I think it’s Doug’s case though, just how smart he is positionally, how good that goal scoring and shot is, he’s going to find the opportunities and he’s going to score on them pretty consistently. Now, going on to the New York Rangers, and this is one that I kind of went back and forth on because there’s quite a few options that I think are pretty similar. You could have a player like a Gabe Pro, even though I think he has one year in the AHL left before he’s onto the Rangers. You could have who they just acquired in the KAR Miller deal in Scott Mororrow potentially, though I think he also is in the AHL to start things out. The one player I’m more confident in playing NHL minutes consistently is Brendan Offman. Especially compared to a Perau, Offman’s time has started to come. And if he isn’t in the NHL this next year, I think you really have to start worrying about him as a former 16th overall pick. But at 22 years old, he’s somebody that has had some decent AHL seasons, had some good scoring down there, just needs to prove himself more in the NHL. And this last year only had two assists for 20 in 22 games. But I think he’s going to get more of an opportunity, especially in the power play. Here’s hoping because I think that’s where Offman is at his best. But especially with the Crider trade, that to me is a big thing that I think will lead to Offman getting more minutes, kind of replacing him in that role as that big-time goal scorer. We’ll see what happens. But I think for Offman, this next year is kind of the put up or shut up time. And I’m hoping he puts up some numbers. Now, going on to the Vancouver Conucks and my breakout pick for them, I have Elias Person. Which Elias person? You will never find out except for in a couple of seconds when I put up the defenseman Elias Person. Yeah, I would love for the center Elias Patterson to break out and have the best season he’s ever had, but at this rate, it just doesn’t feel like that’s going to happen again. Defenseman Elias Person though, I have a lot of confidence in this next season as a big size, great skating defenseman. I’ve always liked him dating back to his draft year, and I thought he was a great fit for the Knox, name aside, and he’s somebody that’s grown really well into that system, especially at the AHL level this last year. I thought looking really solid in a more defensive role and also got to play at the NHL and I thought looked right at home there. even though we didn’t put up a ton of points or anything, he played 28 games. I thought looked pretty good. This next season, I think he’s going to be a full-timer in the NHL, being a big part of that defense to start out maybe on that bottom pair, maybe working his way up in terms of the minutes played. I think Person is going to surprise a lot of folks and be a really good under the radar defenseman on that Vancouver team. Now, let’s go into the Tampa Bay Lighting. And this is another team that doesn’t have too many options, so I do have to get a little bit creative. But I love getting creative here because my breakout pick for them is going to be Gage Gonzalez, who is somebody that I think has got a little bit under the radar as a former second rounder in 2020. Somebody that this last year got a lot more of an opportunity in the NHL and maybe this last year was his breakout season, but I still think Gonzalez has a little bit more to go in his game. You see in 20 60 games actually got eight goals, 20 points in the regular season, but I thought looked really good in the playoffs in five games. Got a goal for points and looked pretty solid there. I think Gonzalez is he’s going to be somebody that I’m really keen on watching this next season. I think he’s going to get a lot more of an opportunity with the lack of depth on that Tampa roster, be a full-time NHLer and maybe even pop a few goals on that middle six, too. I like him quite a bit still and I think might fly under the radar with all the other kind of depth players that Tampa Bay has available. Going on to the Boston Bruins and my breakout pick for them, I got Matthew Pattra in this spot. Now, Frerier Minton could also be an under the radar selection, but Pro has played a lot of NHL games and feels like he’s still bursting at the seams, waiting to break out. He’s somebody that had a pretty decent start to 2024 season with the Bruins, 15 points in 33 games. But this last year, played mostly in the AHL, looking pretty good there, over a point per game of 41 points in 40 games. When he was with the Bruins this last year, he didn’t really feel like he had a place quite yet. But with how much the Bruins four group has opened up this year, a player like Potch, I think, is going to get a lot more opportunity. And I think this is the year where he really establishes himself as a complete NHLer. Now, moving on to the New York Islanders and my breakout pick for them, I’m going to go for Emil Heinman. Kind of an underrated part of the Noah Dobson trade. Of course, he had the two mid first round picks there, which end up being Victor Ecklan and Kashan Ages. But Heineman, I think, is a pretty underrated ad there for an Islanders team that could use some more speed and some decent goal scoring when he is at his best. This last year, 10 goals and 18 points in 62 games. not really getting a ton of opportunity on that Habs team, but I think especially in this Islander system, I could see him getting more consistent middle six minutes and maybe some more power play time, but the speed and the skill is on display. It’s just about putting it to it together. But I could see Hinean having a pretty solid season, maybe in the 30point range and really establishing himself as a decent part of that Islanders offense. Now, on to the Colorado Avalanche. And I’m going to be honest, there weren’t a lot of options because most of their great players are already fully established. But I wanted to go for Sam Bolinsky in this spot, who I think has already broken out in a decent way, but I think is going to continue to just get better and better from here on out. Kind of like a mini Kell Macar in terms of the style that he presents. He’s somebody that is just a great puck carrier and you see in 76 games this last year, got a full-time role in the NHL, getting five goals and 15 points. But I think Maliski is going to get more time on ice, be depended upon a little bit more. But as somebody that was undrafted and really worked his way up, he’s been a big part of this ABS defense and a big reason why they’ve retoled so much over the past couple of seasons. Now we go on to the Washington Capitals, and my breakout pick for them is going to be Ryan Leonard. Not really much of a surprise, but the Cavs have a lot of options in this range. Leonard though is by far the easiest candidate to talk about. Of course, as a former eighth overall pick, he didn’t really light the world on fire coming into the NHL after the NCAA. But I think he was just feeling things out, trying to get adjusted to the pace of the NHL. Once he does do that though, Leonard is going to be an absolute beast with the possession game, with his shot, with how much of a dock he can be all over the ice. I have no doubts that Leonard will adapt. And I think this next year we’re going to start to see it. Now we move on to the Ottawa Senators that I think have a few really under the radar potential breakout options, but I’m going to go for Jordan Spence who they traded from the LA Kings just this off seasonason. Somebody that I have a lot of belief in, didn’t really fit with the Kings wanted on that defense, trying to go bigger and stronger. But for a team like the Sanders that needs some more right-handed depth, I think Jordan Spence is perfect. He’s somebody that has always been an efficient player in LA. Always put up some pretty decent results while not getting the ice time that I think he quite frankly deserves. But this last season in 79 games, 28 points, just a solid puck area, solid passer, just is so smart in the way he plays. He has to be as a 5’11 defenseman that isn’t electric offensively, but there’s a lot of good in Spence’s game that doesn’t quite show up on the scoreboard. But I think for a team like the Sanders, they need younger pug movers like this on the right side. Spence is going to check a lot of boxes and a lot of good ones the sends need. Now, speaking of checking boxes for a team, let’s go on to the Toronto Maple Leafs. My breakout pick for them is pretty easily Matias Machelli. Somebody that I absolutely adore when he is on his best. Unfortunately, this last year in Utah’s per season, we really didn’t see him at that best. In 55 games, he had just 10 assists for 18 points. But before the move to Utah, I thought he was one of the most underrated passers in the league. Something that, especially from the perimeter, can find open lanes so easily and spot teammates from it feels like 200 feet away. You can see 40 assists, 57 points in 82 games before he stepped this last year into the Utah hockey club system. I think with Toronto, especially with the absence of Mitch Mner, they need more puck skill. They need more dynamic ability. Machelli can bring that when his game is on when he is 100% in it. And I think for the Leafs, they’re really going to benefit from a pretty low stakes trade in all honesty. Now, we move on to the LA Kings. And my brave goug selection for them pretty easily has to be Brand Clark. I mean, we talked about the Kings getting rid of Jordan Spence, and I think a big reason for that was just the emergence of Brandt Clark and what he is able to become because especially for them, they might not want to have another puck mover on their third pair, even though I think that’s a good thing. I think for the Kings, they wanted to more have more of a defensive defenseman in that spot and have Clark playing even more minutes, which I think is a good thing because ultimately Clark is that dynamic offensive player that Spence might not be. You can see this last season, 33 points, 28 assists in 78 games. He played a lot of games for this Kings team, but wasn’t really relied upon in many big-time situations. I think that is going to change, though, and Clark’s going to put up some big numbers starting this year. Now, speaking of an offensive defenseman that hasn’t gotten a ton of opportunity yet, but I think will start to this next year. Let’s go into my the New Jersey Devils and my breakout pick has to be Simone Neth. Now, I could have had Arseni Gritsuk. I think he could have a decent spot on the team, too. But with how much the Devils have been shopping Douggee Hamilton and how likely a trade in Hamilton’s case seems to be this summer, if that happens, I think Simone de Mets is one of the biggest breakout candidates for next year. Something that as an offensive defenseman hasn’t gotten much of an opportunity to play on the top power play or in many offensive situations and I think that has hurt him. But I think throughout the second half of the season in the NHL, he got a lot better in the playoffs. I thought he was great in the four games he played for the Devils. Even though of course shorter sample size, I still think there’s a lot to like in the Mets. When he’s confident, when he’s going, there’s so much offensive skill there. It’s just about putting it all together. But I’m hopeful about this next season for the Devils and the Mets because I think he has the potential to still be a top four D. Now we go on to yet another defenseman that I think is going to break out this next season. Let’s go on to the National Predators and their free agent signing in Nick Pervix. Something that I think has always kind of been an under the radar name, but I think deserves more credit for the game he plays. somebody that signed, of course, a recent extension in Nashville after going away from Tampa Bay. I think Pervix is somebody that always has had the talent, the potential to be a more middle pair defenseman. Just hasn’t really gotten that opportunity in Tampa, but in Nashville, he certainly will. I mean, the right side of the defense is kind of all over the place in terms of the guys they have available. Pervix is probably the highest quality name among that group. This last year, getting 19 points in 74 games and six goals. I think in Pericus’ case, I just want to see him use that physicality more, be become a little bit more assertive because the brain is there and the potential offensively I think is starting to grow even if it has been a slow burn. Now on to the Minnesota Wild and their breakout player is pretty easy here. It is another defenseman. Let’s go on to Z Buum. Probably not a surprise for any of you guys to see him at this spot to have him as my breakout pick because he is just such a beautiful fit for what Minnesota needs. I don’t think they’ve had an offensive defenseman like this that has had the talent of a Z Buum since maybe Brent Burns really. It’s been a long time for Minnesota system. But that’s exactly why I think Buum is going to make such a mark already. He’s going to be immediately as a power play force immediately presenting so much confidence and deception from the blue line. He will make you pay for just any slight defensive mistake. He is just such a far a far ahead offensive player than most people on the ice. And that’s really allowed his creativity to shine. You’ve seen the NCA this last couple of seasons. The production has been great, but I also think the defense has really improved year after year. He’s been using that body more and that confidence and and getting a lot stronger and that’s helped a lot, especially in the net front. But don’t get me wrong, the the real entertainment here is going to be when Zeb Buum has the puck. And for a team like Minnesota, they need more puck carriers. Buum is exactly what the doctor ordered. On to the Carolina Hurricanes. And I think there’s a couple really interesting options here. Jackson Blake being even better. Logan Stinkovven could improve. Alexander Nesh is a big time rookie next season. will be very exciting to watch. But my big breakout pick is Kean Miller. The potential has always been there, but in terms of some of the decision-m and some of the plays against high pressure, it seems like KA Miller kind of always comes up a little bit disappointing defensively. I think he’s always had some decent offensive skill, great skating ability, of course, and when he is using his body well, has great physical traits to build upon. It’s just about the implementation. But I think in the Kane system with all the other options they have to work with, I think KA Miller is going to feel a lot more comfortable and ultimately I think that’ll be good for his career and hopefully this next year he’ll have the best season of his career so far. Onto the Seattle Kraken. There weren’t really many options that I really would have in this position. Brookley Ken I was tempted to have, but I think more likely he’ll be in the AHL this next season. I mean Capokako, I mean I just will have Capokako. I’ll I’ll have any excuse to talk about Capo Kako at all. But you guys see since he was traded to Seattle, of course, in the second half of the season by the Rangers, he was fantastic there getting 30 points, 10 goals in 49 games. Especially at five on five, he was immediately one of the Kraken’s best players consistently having this full season with Seattle playing on that first line there. I think it’s going to do him a lot of good and I think he’ll have hopefully his best point total yet. Now on to the Utah Mammoth and they’re another team that has a lot of options to choose from, but ultimately I’m gonna go with my boy Dmitri Simiche, who I think is going to win a spot in training camp and ultimately be a big part of this Utah defense. And there might be a couple of free agent signings like Ian Cole that could help that could keep that from happening. But I think Simv is just going to be so good that ultimately he’ll end up winning the spot necessary. I know that Utah loves him with the size and the skating ability, but he’s somebody that I always think has had more offensive potential than maybe the points indicated in the KHL. This last year having six points, 86 games is still solid for a defenseman, a defensive defenseman, especially to the level of Simichev, but you always wanted to see a bit more. But I think at the prospect tournament that they had, the dev camp, he looked fantastic there. I think just ultimately he’s going to be a really under the radar name for Utah that wins a spot, plays a ton of minutes, and does really good there immediately. Now, going on to some more superstar defensive prospects. Let’s go on to the Detroit Red Wings and my pick in Axel Sandy Pika. Now, I’m really hoping that this comes to pass because there is the chance that he does start the year in the AHL, but man, I just don’t want that to happen. Please, Detroit, give me some excitement here. I need to see it. Other than that, I could see potentially guys like Carter Maser and winning a spot in training camp if Axel Sandy and Pelica doesn’t end up making it. But I just want him to because ASP is something that Detroit is desperately missing. Electricity, high octane offense, a guy that can skate like the wind and look make it look so graceful, especially in transition. I just absolutely adore this guy. Maybe it would be best for him to get some more seasoning in the AHL, but and maybe it’s a little bit selfish to want him immediately, but dang it, I want him immediately. Now we go on to another younger player here from the 2023 NHL draft. Onto the Buffalo Sabres. My breakout pick for them is going to be Zack Benson. Somebody that just shouldn’t have been drafted 13th overall and continues to defy that. He’s somebody though that I do think is going to provide a lot more offense than he has in these first couple of seasons. I think in these first couple NHL years, he’s been just treading water. And at his age, that’s still incredibly impressive. And the defensive game has been a marvelous thing to watch. But I think getting that goal scoring going, especially getting that knack for the net, getting a little bit more greasy and getting those greasier points, I think is going to be a really big thing for Zack Benson going forward. That’s something in his game that was amazing at the junior level that hasn’t quite transitioned perfectly yet. But we’ve seen some high skill, we’ve seen some high pace already. Just having that extra little bit of scoring in the end, I think is what is holding Zack Benson back. But I think we will see it as he gets a big opportunity in the top six this next year. On to the Calgary Flames. We’re going to go to another high-profile drafty and Zayn Perk, former ninth overall pick. He, just like Z Buum, I think will be handed the keys this next year to really command the power play for this Flames team and really supercharge the offense from the back end. And that is what Zay Pere is here to do, especially when it comes to the goal scoring, when it comes to the electricity on the power play. Zay Pere is going to give you that. another one like Zoom that I think has improved his defensive play even if it still might be a bit of a weakness here and there when it comes to the actual imprint on the ice. But I think in Breck’s case, the confidence is so high, the skill set is so high that even if there is some defensive deficiencies in year one, the offense more than makes up for it. Now going on to a pretty fascinating prospect here that has hadn’t gotten an opportunity but didn’t really work out yet, but I think we’ll get a massive opportunity this next year. Let’s go on to the Penguins breakout pick and I’m going to go front McGrod at this spot. I mean, it makes a ton of sense, especially if the Penguins end up trading Brian Rust. That’s even more opportunity on the wings, but I think there is a pretty easy slot for McGrod to play immediately top six minutes as a wing next year for the Penguins. They’re trying to go full tank. They’re trying to go full youth, and I think McGrod is going to benefit from that. Immediately playing with a Crosby or a Malcin. It’s interesting because he won a spot immediately with the Penguins. Didn’t look good at all. Then got sent down to the AHL. didn’t look good at all there to start out, but then in the second half really started to figure things out. Really started to get that scoring going, started to look a lot faster, a lot more adjusted to the pro pace, and that ultimately led to a lot more success. I think he’s a lot more ready this next year for the NHL than he was before. And I think he’s going to have just a solid under the radar rookie year. Onto the Columbus Blue Jackets. My breakout pick for them is going to be someone you might not expect, but I’m going to go for Jet Greavves in net. And he might not be the biggest name out there as an undrafted guy, but just look at the work he has put in over these last few years. I mean, somebody that especially this last year in the AHL, a 920 save percentage in 40 games and a 938 save percentage in 11 games for the Blue Jackets this last year. He was somebody that in those last couple weeks of the season was really the main reason the Blue Jackets were holding on in that playoff race and we’re just a point away from a playoff spot. He was marvelous and even though I don’t think he’ll be the starter for Columbus this next year, I think the games played are going to be pretty close because of how really underrated he is. I think he’s going to make a big splash for Columbus and make that goalending a little bit better than it would have been. On to the Winnipeg Jets, a team that of course without Nikolai Elers is going to have some more opportunity on the left wing, which is why I think Cole Perfetti is finally going to break out like I want him to. I feel like I’ve probably had him on this list for Winnipeg for like the past 3 years or something, but it’s because I still adore this player. incredibly smart and this last year got his first 50 point season, 50 points in 82 games and of course had that massive one game in the playoffs which put him on the map. But I think in Perfett’s case getting even more consistent, being somebody that can be a definitive top six piece is going to be the big difference yeartoyear. I really do think that Pphetti still has a ton of talent, a ton of smarts in him, and I just want to see him be a little bit more consistent on the ice, show a little bit more effort, and if that happens, I think he can really cement himself as a top six forward. But let’s keep going on to the Chicago Blackhawks who have a ton of options in terms of the breakouts for this next year. But ultimately, my number one pick is going to go to Sam Renzel. Somebody that I have enjoyed so much over the past year, especially seen the growth in his game for the University of Minnesota and of course how he was able to play in the nine games he played for the Blackhawks at the end of the year, getting five assists for five points. But points aside, he looked extremely confident like he had been playing in the NHL for 10 years already, commanding the ice and leading by example. And I think especially for a Blackhawks team that needs presences like him, needs established forces. I think Renzel’s going to come in as a rookie and look like not a rookie, he’s going to look immediately like a top four defenseman for them, and that’s something they desperately could use and will need this next year. Now, let’s go on to, in my opinion, the best prospect pool in the NHL in the San Jose Sharks, which means that there’s quite a few options to work with pretty much every single year. But this year, I’m going to go with Yaros Lava Scaroff. Now, I could have Michael Misa in this spot. I would love to have him, too. But I think it’s kind of 50/50 right now. Whether he plays in the NHL or potentially goes to college next season, which would be a ton of fun. In Escarov’s case, though, I don’t know many doubts that he’ll be as an established NHL starter this next year for San Jose. Nulkovich I think will play a decent amount of games but I think Scarov is going to get the net and will get the opportunity to start things out. At 23 years old he’s been one of the best goalending prospects for a long time now. And this last year he was up and down in the NHL level but was really able to establish himself as one of the AHL’s best goalenders. A 923 save percentage in 22 games and a 935 save percentage in six playoff games. Now is a Scarov’s time. I want to see him fully break out and I’m hoping 2026 is the year. But now we go on to the last player as our breakout picks today. Let’s go on to the Anaheim Ducks. Another team that has a few really interesting options, but I want to go for somebody that I don’t think gets talked about a ton, but I think is going to have a pretty big year this next season in Pavl Mintyukov. Of course, a former 10th overall pick by the Ducks in 2022. He’s somebody that’s kind of been like maybe like a Zack Benson kind of treading water over these last couple of seasons getting adjusted to the NHL level, but I think this is somebody that’s going to have a big season this next year. really keep improving on that defensive game, the smarts that he has, how efficient he is in the defensive zone, and offensively start to show a little bit more of what he is made of. Somebody that was a great OHL producer, but I think this next year we’re going to start to see a lot more confidence out of him in Tukob and really solidify, I think, that second lefty spot behind Jackson Loma. But those are my breakout picks for the 2026 NHL season. And thank you guys so much for tuning in. IT'S TIME FOR SOME BREAKOUT PICKS!! Let me know for YOU, who do YOU see being the biggest breakout star from YOUR favorite NHL team? #GravGang #RoadTo85kSUBS
I'm hoping Lundquist breaks out for Dallas, just because the team really needs him to take a big step, and time's running out.
ASP would get the Calder if he breaks out
That man refuse to let go on Perfetti !
For my team (sharks) I think that Will Smith is gonna have a big goal scoring year
Zegras gonna bust in Philly
Catton either plays with the Kraken or goes back to the WHL. Unfortunately he is ineligible for the AHL.
My money is on Wright taking the biggest step this year. Especially if he gets more ice time and is consistently on the PP.
If Asky wins the Calder this year it will be bitter sweet, cuz that probably means the sharks are out of the McKenna lotto
Zegras is the most overrated player in the NHL. …by far! We'll see how he does.
Love the Mintyukov shout. One of the biggest victims of Cronin last year, was deployed excessively in the D zone and it didn't allow his offense to shine as he constantly shared the ice with forwards who couldn't keep up with his brain. He'll parlay those rookie flashes of brilliance into sustainable success this year imo.
Before I watch I say Matty or Shane (as a Seattle fan)
After watching I’ll take that 🙌🏽 great content brother keep it coming 🙏🏽
I love that we picked up Perbix. I think he’s gonna to really help Josi and Skjei on the blue line.
Rookies should NOT count as "breakout candidates"
Tyler Boucher will breakout for the Senators this year…BOOK IT. Cheers from Ottawa🍁
A rookie can’t be a breakout player
Frederic is a injury-prone, career 30pt guy, no way he breaks out. if he gets more than 30 it'll be because mcdavid banks the puck off his ass
“Jet greaves from left field”
Dude was stellar and almost stole the playoff spot from Montreal by posting a 7-1 record and a .938.
Nemec 🫶🏽
Never realized K'andre Miller has double double shaved eyebrow slits…
Two comments all positive! As a west coast hockey fan thank you for covering every team equally and giving a great guide on who to watch next year on each team. Honestly I have a blind spot in the east cause usually I’m working or busy when games start at 4pm local.
Secondly thank you for switching up the list order. As a ducks fan I kinda tune out once I hear their portion of a vid. I like not knowing the order and being “forced to intently listen” to the entire video. Keep up the good work
