WHAT RYAN REAVES BRINGS TO THE SAN JOSE SHARKS #hockey #nhl #trade #sharks #video #news #reaves
The San Jose Sharks are exactly like a jewelry store. They’ve got a ton of high-end valuable merchandise that they need a security guard to protect. So, the Sharks went out and they hired the best security guard in the business. So, today we’re going to tell you what Ryan Reeves brings to the San Jose Sharks. Hey everybody, welcome in to Claring the Benches, your one-stop shop for hockey content. If you go ahead and hit your subscription button right now, you’ll be sure to be in on all of our future videos. When you go back and you look through NHL history and maybe in the last 40, 45 years, you will see that teams that had big time success also had guys on their team that were willing to make sure that the high-end valuable players did not get mishandled. When you look at the Islanders in the 80s, they won four straight Stanley Cups. And they had bruisers like Clark Gillies and Bobby Nestrom to make sure that the other team’s tough guys did not get too close to guys like Mike Bosi and Brian Trace. The Bruins had Zedeno Charara to make sure that nobody went arry against the Bruins smaller players. The Blackhawks had Dustin Bufflin out there protecting guys like Kane and Taves. The Sharks, they had a big body guy for years as their captain in Jumbo Joe and he made sure no one got too close to the smaller, more highly skilled players on that team like Logan Couture. And now when I see that my career has bought in Ryan Reeves, I really think that this is going to be a ripple effect. Even if Reeves is just with the Sharks for a year, maybe two years, I think his presence there is going to have a ripple effect on the players we’re about to talk about for years to come. Look, Reeves knows his job. I’m sure the conversation that he had with Mike Reer when he first got acquired was very quick. you got any questions? And I’m sure Reeves said, “Nope, I know exactly what to do.” And I’m sure Greer said, “Have a good summer. We’ll see you at training camp.” I think the uh the reason that they bought in Reeves this year is going to be twofold. one obviously it’s going to be to protect guys like you know Celabbrini Smith if Misa’s there Quinton Musty William Ecklan but it’s also going to be to show the biggerbodied players a how to be professionals on and off the ice maybe when and when not to drop the gloves how to train what to eat you know how to rest all of those things are going to be very val valuable lessons that a guy like Ryan Reeves can teach all of these younger players on the Sharks. And again, when you’ve got a guy out there that you know is one of the top one, two, three tough guys in the league who’s going to go up against Ryan Reeves and really do damage to him. Matthew Olivier, Tom Wilson, maybe Matthew Rebe. Other than that, you know, put it down in the comments section if I’m forgetting somebody, but I don’t think there’s too many other guys in the league that are going to like go out and intimidate anybody on the Sharks without Reeves answering the bell and drawing them out and saying, “Hey, not on my watch. That’s not going to happen.” when I see what he’s going to do for guys like Celibbrini and Smith, I know those kids are just naturally going to progress in their points this season. But in addition to, let’s say that each one of those guys scores 10, 12, 15 more points than they did this past season, I think just having a guy like Ryan Reeves presence a around the team, B in the locker room, and C on the bench is going to, I think, bring maybe even an additional 10 points to Cabbrini and Smith for sure. You know, we don’t know if Misa is going to be there, but again, Misa can go out there and freewheel and not have to worry about anyone really trying to clean his clock knowing that Ryan Reeves would be right there to make sure that, you know, that was answered for sure. When I look at the other players that the Sharks have a ton ton of bigbodied prospects, he can teach these guys how to work out in the weight room, maybe how to be physical on the ice, throw body checks, um how to react in a scrum after the whistle. Maybe some guy gives you a face wash. Ryan Reeves ain’t letting nobody give him a face wash without getting socked, that’s for sure. and he’s probably gonna pass that message on to some of the players that the Sharks have that are biggerbodied and they are going to, you know, be expected in the future. They’re going to be the guys that are going to be protecting Celibbrini Smith, Musty, Misa, Ecklund, and whoever else they draft in the future. these kids. That’s why Mike Greer went out and he drafted all these bigbodied kids so that it does transform into playoff hockey in the near future. When you look at some of their prospects, they’re all huge. Look, Sam Dickinson 63 210. He’s not the most physical guy. However, a guy like Reeves can boost his confidence and he’s almost as big as Reeves height size-wise, he’s a little bit taller and maybe he’s 15 pounds lighter, but maybe in a few years Sam Dickinson is weighing, you know, 220, 225. I think that would be a guy that would be very, very eager to learn from somebody like Ryan Reeves just from a confidence level. you know, maybe Sam Dickinson starts to become more of a physical player. And, you know, in the future, I personally think anybody that plays in the NHL, I don’t think you’re having an NHL career uh without having to drop the gloves at least once. You know, if you play like 300, 400 games. I think it’s just the way the game goes. And, you know, your number comes up and eventually sooner or later everybody gets into a scrum. Gretzky got into a fight. So when I look at other guys on this team, Casper Haltonin 64205, [Music] he could be a very very physical player along the boards, win those board battles, go into the corner, win those puck battles, do smash and grabs with another forward on a defenseman, and then he can turn, put his head down and drive the net. That’s what they my career. That’s why he drafted Halton in. He wants him to be a guy who’s going to turn his size into a strength and he wants him to just become a tank out there. Put your head down, know where the net is, pick your spot where you’re going to put the puck, and go for it. Another guy that I see is Colin Graph. 61200. That’s NHL body right there. I see if he puts on another 10 pounds, he would be an excellent board player. When you watched him at Quinnipiac, look, the guy’s got amazing skills. In my opinion, he fits right in with this younger core. You know, look, they’re not all going to be Michael Misa or Celabbrini, but you know, the guys that can follow those players up, you’re going to need them to be productive as well. Colin Graph I see being a very productive NHL player. Somebody like Reeves can show him how to protect himself, how to take a hit when a big opposing player has got you lined up and you got nowhere to go. You’re going to get hit. Especially in the NHL, especially when you’re a younger player, they want to see what you’re made out of. If you’re just going to cough the puck up, if that’s the case, they’re going to try to put it on your stick every time. Another big big physical, you know, presence could be a kid like Shakir Machmadulan. When you look at him, he’s a monster back there. And when they drafted um when they got him rather from the Devils, I saw a big future for him in San Jose. I said they acquired this kid so that in the future he can play playoff hockey for them. Again, Reeves can show a guy like him how to work out in the weight room. Maybe if he asked you how to drop the gloves, how to protect yourself, what to do in a fight. You’re a big guy. You’re on defense. You’re going to be in a lot of physical battles. And sooner or later, somebody’s liable to drop the gloves and start swinging on you. You’ve got to know what to do in that situation. A couple of other guys, three of these guys are monsters. And I saw one of them up close this year. He likes to play the body and that’s Noah Beck, 63, 205. He was the captain for Arizona State this year. Uh when I saw him, you know, he looks like a bigger player out there. He looks bigger than he actually is. He’s another guy smothers you along the boards. I don’t think he’s going to be a fighter. But a guy like Reeves can show him how to work out, how to be physical. And they are going to expect Noah Beck to be physical in the Sharks future. Two other guys, Quinton Musty, 6’2, 200 lb, and Philip Bistag 6’2 lb. Again, these kids don’t have to drop the gloves to be successful in the NHL, but they are going to have to be physical. they’re going to have to impose their will. You’ve got to use that size and strength to your strong points. And to me, most of these guys, it’s going to be winning that board battle if you’re a forward, getting the puck and driving the net, getting volume shots on net from high percentage areas. You know, when you look at what the Sharks have got right now as far as guys willing to drop the gloves, you got Barkley Gadro and Mario Ferraro, you know, I don’t really see anybody else and nor would I expect any of these guys, you know, that we talked about to go on and, you know, be big bruiser fighters, 10 fight a year guys. I think these guys are all going to be in maybe one, two fights in a season. Maybe some of them are going to be in five fights their whole career. But you don’t want them getting destroyed if they do have to drop the gloves. And for sure, you want them to know how to react in every situation. Reeves, he’s a guy that goes to the front of the net. His job is going to be, you know, a to protect everybody, but when they want hockey stuff out of him, it is going to be hit, cause chaos in front of the net. make sure that like when there’s a scrum, hey, stay away from my guy, otherwise I’ll be coming for you next shift. That’s all he’s going to say. I don’t think he’s going to have to fight nearly as much as he did in his past. If he gets in five fights this year, I would be surprised. Maybe he gets in one early on just to send a message to the league, hey, I’m not here on an early retirement plan. I’m here to play hockey. So again, when you see what he could do and it he’s going to create space for these smaller players when he’s on the ice, just his presence. Kids like Cabbrini and Smith, they’re going to have uh a braver role out on the ice. They’re going to be like, “Hey, I got this guy sitting right on the bench. I can go up and down the wing, and maybe if the puck gets caught up in my skates, I got to put my head down.” a guy’s going to think twice before he tries to bury me. So maybe I’ve got an extra half of a second to play the puck. Uh Ryan Reeves is going to make all of these young players better. And everybody loves Ryan Reeves. He’s great in the community. A buddy of mine knew him out in Vegas and he was always at charity softball stuff. And the guy’s always got a smile on his face. And because, you know, he’s 38 years old, he’s twice as old as most of these guys, they’re some of these kids are going to look at him like a father figure. And because of his size, his reputation, and his past, no one on this team is going to like, you know, stand up and say, “I’m going to miss curfew no matter what you tell me.” They’re not doing that. They’re going to fall in line with Reeves. And like I said, Reeves is going to be their big brother and he’s going to give these kids a lot of confidence. So, that’s going to do it for the video today. I personally think Ryan Reeves is going to have a valuable effect on the San Jose Sharks. It may not so much be from him personally on the ice, but everything he’s going to be able to teach these younger players will make them much more valuable in their personal futures. So, that’s going to do it for the video. If you could please like the video, don’t forget to subscribe. And what do we do here at Clearing the Benches? Let them know you’re out there.
The San Jose Sharks have acquired veteran enforcer Ryan Reeves. This acquisition should prove to be extremely valuable for a young team like the San Jose Sharks who have several young players, such as Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and Michael Misa that they want to protect. Reeves has played for several teams in his career, including the Pittsburgh Penguins the New York Rangers, the Minnesota wild the St. Louis Blues and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Just as teams such as the New York Islanders Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, and Edmonton Oilers have had success. They also all had enforcer’s willing to make sure that opposing teams tough guys did not try to harm their superstars. #hockey #nhl #news #sharks #sanjose #ryan #reaves #willsmith #smith #video #youtube #macklincelebrini

Reaves is a joke! Why would you want a mouthpiece like that around your up-and-coming team? I understand he may drop the gloves and protect them, but at what cost to the dressing room and development?
Chicago tried the same thing with Bedard, surrounding him with veterans like Hall and Perry. If the rumors are true about Perry, imagine what Reaves may be capable of with these kids.
Admittedly, these teams are looking at the Oilers' failed attempts at integrating their first-round picks. I think it comes down the the upbringing and character of the player more than anything. I watched Yakapov and Hall's headcases fail while RNH and McDavid succeed personally. It is pretty easy to see the difference in their personalities.
I do not think that the end result had anything to do with the players around them, as 93 and 97 were just good kids!
Keep up the awesome work, as I LOVE putting an Oiler spin on everything you write. 😁
