What is the vision for the 2025-26 Toronto Maple Leafs? 🤔 #SDP #nhl #hockey

What are these Leafs without MNER and what is their new direction? If Brad Living were here, what’s the goal he has in mind? I’m sure they want to see more consistent five on five play, but I mean, there’s still, as much as a coach has an identity that they’re trying to teach or a GM has a vision, I mean, at some level, you’re you’re dictated by who your actual players are, right? Like the team that Craig Rubé coached in St. Louis and coached them all the way to a Stanley Cup final, they didn’t have an Austin Matthews. Ryan O’Reilly who was awesome and won the Consmite trophy and is a beast. Still a really good NHL player, but he never had a season where he scored 69 goals. Nobody has that isn’t named like Lemieux or the guy that were in the video games when you were a kid. So the point is is I I think they you have to somewhat adapt to what you have. But what are they going to be? They’re going to be aggressive foreing team. I think everybody’s trying to be something like the Panthers. Now that’s not sustainable on some level. I think you have to stick to what you are too if you’re trying to imitate Well, look what happened to the the Canucks when they tried to become the Bruins after 2011. No team has been more poorly replicated than the 2011 Bruins. Everyone tried to do it.

  1. Honestly I think the team is going to be more interesting to watch. After 9 seasons of watching Marner I do believe he is an amazing player and he is a joy to watch. However, I feel like he was overused in too many situations. To the point where it became a bit repetitive. It was easy for really talented defensemen like Hedman and Ekblad to shut him down because, while he is swift and skilled, he won't be able to out muscle you. The new look lineup could have anyone chipping in. And maybe with a little more ice time some players will show off some talent or chemistry or aggression we didn't get to see because the leafs have been the Marner Show for so long.
