> Greene, who entered 2025 as the team’s ace, has slow-rolled his way back from a Grade 1 right groin strain since going on the injured list for the second time in early June. Despite a clean MRI exam on July 7, Greene reported symptoms and canceled a rehab assignment. It’s being left up to Greene to determine when he can resume pitching. But for a guy with a long-term contract who says he wants to be a leader, Greene needs to start showing it and get back on the field. When he is, he can be one of the best starters in baseball.
Not sure if this is coming from the front office or just Sheldon’s opinion, but either way I hate it. I don’t believe Greene is lying about being in pain. That seems to be what Sheldon is positing here.
I don’t know what Hunter is feeling, and I can’t blame him for wanting to be extra careful in hopes of not getting hurt again. That being said, it does seem like this is a pain tolerance/mental thing at this point .
Just a real bad take imo
Greene seems like he’s always hurt
That line jumped out to me too. Mark is either carrying water for ownership or forgetting how much of an athlete he isn’t. Easy for you to say Mark!
Hunter Greene > Mark Sheldon
All my homies hate Mark Sheldon.
What a fucking take.
First of all, Greene would have returned for a single start before the All-Star break. Even if he’s just 90% I’d much rather him delay his return and head to Arizona to get to 100% and return after the break.
Second, with how this team’s luck been with injury, this is just a brain dead take.
Wtf? Was Sheldon drunk when he wrote this?
If you’re injured you’re injured. What this opinion is going to do is get Greene hurt for longer
Given two theories, the one that requires the fewest assumptions tends to be more likely. So, either:
1. A potential Cy Young Award candidate is intentionally prolonging his return to the field – possibly torpedoing his value while doing so – after a known injury for unexplained reasons with no medical justification.
OR
2. A player with a known injury is having a longer than anticipated recovery period.
Yeah, I’m going with #2 here.

Seem to remember he came back from injury at the end of last season for a couple starts even tho the team was way out of it and prolly could’ve just shut it down.
The dude has a pulled groin. This is one of the worst takes I’ve seen, and that says a lot.
What a moronic take
Isn’t the whole rushing players back from injury kind of a big issue with the Reds? I’d rather he be 100% before coming back because if he rushes back, as suggested, he could further injure it and hes out for the year lol
Why do some here think Sheldon doesn’t have more information than the rest of us? Athlete or not, it’s pretty well known that human beings tend to remember their injuries and the circumstances surrounding said injury, and are not crazy to “come back” just because others say so.
I kinda get the vibe that Tito has more to say about it than he is when they’ve asked him. It sounds like this is what he wants to say too.
Rather him feel right then rush back with screwed up mechanics to compensate for the pain.
This could result in serious arm issues .
Tommy John anyone?
Questioning a pro athletes effort LMAO Mark is a keyboard warrior.
Brain dead take from someone who is decidedly not an athlete or competitor. I’ll trust Greene on what he can or cannot do according to how his body is feeling.
