The Cleveland Browns Could Make A SPLASH NFL Trade Before Training Camp

Who’s ready to talk about something not regarding Quinn Sean Judkins? We’re going to switch topics alto together because I think everyone’s getting I would say tired of the Quinn Sean Judkins conversation. It’s not very old, but I don’t think people would love to see more bad news about one of their rookie players who hasn’t even stepped on the field yet for this team. So, we’re going to hit pause, call timeout on the Quinn Shawn Judkins front, and we’re going to talk about a different topic al together, and that is Terry McLuren trade rumors. The Washington Commanders wide receiver is looking for a new contract. He’s entering the final year of a three-year contract he signed back in 2022, and he’s been nothing short of excellent, honestly, the last couple of years. third round gem by the commies or maybe the Redskins when they drafted him. I don’t remember. But obviously Buckeye fans know him well. Played for Ohio State. He was a late bloomer there. He was not some like freshman sensation like Jeremiah Smith or any of the other awesome wide receivers from Columbus. So he points to that as a reason for why not to bet against him because he doesn’t have a ton of tread on his tires. But we’ll talk more about him as a player later on. Let’s talk about why in the world would the commanders trade Terry McLuren. So, like I said, he’s going into the final year of his contract and he was talking to the media earlier this week about his current contract situation. He held out of all the spring practices and mini camps. He racked up over $100,000 in fines for missing mandatory mini camp. So, he is absolute about digging in for a new deal. kind of like Amari Cooper last off season. Remember, he wanted a new contract. The Browns instead just guaranteed more of his money, didn’t offer him any long-term contract, which looking back was probably a good decision by Andrew Barry based on how the year went for Cooper and the Browns. Now, getting back to Scary Terry though, he said that there’s no way he can see himself coming back on the field under the current circumstances of I want a new contract. And he said that there has been no negotiations, no communication, no contact whatsoever. So clearly a lot of frustration brewing from his side because he’s now airing this out to the public to try and get the fan base on his side to put some pressure on the team to reward the guy who put together 13 touchdowns and over a thousand sorry over a thousand yards and 90 grabs or something like that last year in Jaden Daniels’s rookie campaign. So, now that we have an understanding as to why we are talking about McLuren, let’s see if the Browns make some sense for a trade destination. It’s worth noting that Terry McLuren said, “I don’t want to be traded.” But he also added, “It takes two to tango.” So, I don’t think he’s doing this to put some pressure on Washington for a trade. I think he’s just being very genuine about wanting a new contract, wanting an extension, and knowing that this is going to put some pressure on the team. But does it make sense for the Browns to pursue Terry McLuren? I think initially you won’t see the Browns pop up in Terry McLuren trade destination articles and segments and videos, but I’m going to continue to be the person that reminds the world of we’re talking about Andrew Barry here. No one saw the Browns being involved with Brandon Iayuk last off season until the Browns were involved with Brandon Iayuk last off season and nearly offered up Amari Cooper in a trade for the 49ers wide receiver. So yeah, surface level may not scream like the three- win 2014, sorry, 2024 Browns make a ton of sense for a near 30-year-old wide receiver who’s looking for a brand new contract. But I think Andrew Barry is, I won’t say in denial, but borderline denial about the state of this team. Me personally, if I were the GM of a team coming off three wins with no clear direction at quarterback, I don’t think making a move for a 30year-old wide receiver who wants a brand spanking new expensive contract is the right time. But I don’t think Andrew Barry views the Browns the way I view them. I think he views them as a team that can still be competitive and can win in the playoffs, get to the playoffs. And so, if that’s your frame of mind, then why wouldn’t you, if that’s what you’re if that’s what the team you see in front of you can uh accomplish, pursue a Pro Bowl awesome wide receiver, right? So, if you’re Andrew Barry, I think knowing him and his patterns and his history, you pick up the phone and you call Washington. I don’t think they’re looking to get a trade done. I don’t think they’re thinking, “Hey, you know, would be great for Jaden Daniels in year two after one of the best rookie campaigns we’ve seen from a quarterback ever. Let’s trade away the guy that caught 13 of his touchdown passes.” I don’t think that’s what’s going through. I think it’s Adam Peters. Yeah, the GM. in uh DC’s mind right now. But if Adam Peters is thinking, listen, I’m not about to give a three or fouryear contract to a guy who’s about to turn 30 years old in two months. He could look at the Browns as a very clear example of that. Amari Cooper was in the same spot. Like Terry McLaren and Amari Cooper, they have very similar histories. Neither player has dealt with major injuries, at least up until Amari Cooper. this past season in the year like both guys have been very healthy. Scary Terry I don’t think has missed a game in his entire NFL career or since 2020. So the availability is through the roof. So you could look at the age 30 and say oh he’s going to start to decline. But you could look at his history and say well we have no reason to believe so other than the number three being the first number in his birth year or birth date, whatever. You know what I mean? Um but Adam Peters could look at that and go, “Yep, I’m going to learn from the Browns.” I’d say not mistake, but good decision to not extend a near 30-year-old receiver because Cooper fell off last year. And I don’t have a good reason as to how that happened. But if that’s what Adam Peters is thinking is going to happen, then maybe he decides, you know what, we just acquired Debo Samuel. We have some other young wide receivers that we like. If the Browns want to give us a second round draft pick, we can use that pick on the next Terry McLaren since he was a third round draft pick himself. Would I do that? No. No, I wouldn’t. But the NFL is full of surprises. We saw Jaylen Ramsay and Minka Fitzpatrick get swapped from Miami to Pittsburgh. So, I wouldn’t say expect the unexpected, but I’d say be prepared for the unexpected. And if there’s a wide receiver trade potentially going down, the Cleveland Browns have a very good chance of being involved with that trade. So to wrap to wrap it all up today, if I were the Browns, would I trade for Scary Terry? No. If I’m Andrew Barry, if I’m like in the mind of Andrew Barry, would I do it? Man, Barry might be thinking to himself, people are pissed at me. They’re furious about Quinn Sean Judkins, another Browns rookie having issues. What’s a good way to smooth this over with the fan base? Why not trade for an Ohio State alone? The Browns fan base is on a short list of fan bases that I think if you add an Ohio State player, you almost get pardoned for anything wrong what you’ve done before then. So, wouldn’t rule it out with AB right now. All right, that’s going to do it for us on our video today. Thank you guys so much for tuning in. I’m going to sign off and I’ll see everyone later.

  1. We need the help at WR. If the Browns could pull off this trade with Washington, it would be awesome. But …… personally, I don’t trust AB’s Player Evaluation Skills.
    Go Browns!

  2. What makes you believe that the browns can afford to give him the contract that he wants? In short, we can’t. Watson has us handcuffed with the cap for this season and next.

Not to mention the draft compensation it would cost.

We also have a receiving core that I am eager to see. I think without Watson Jeudi can build off of last year and be even better.

Tillman was excellent in college and was on his way to being a round 1 pick before an injury set him back in a big way. We saw flashes of that from him. I want to see more.

Johnson has proven that he has the on field skills. We and he know that this is his last chance in the nfl if he messes up. Let’s see if he gets back on track.

Thrash has also looked good in the off season in case Johnson does Johnson himself up again.

  3. The team had great direction before the Judkins issue. The 3 win season was the Ken Dorsey anomaly. Not the norm. Judkins is a huge blow though.

The qb question is light years better than the absolute known suck that we have had at the position since 2022. I would expect middle of the pack play from whoever wins the job in the most qb friendly scheme in the entire nfl.

  4. Zero chance we go for scary terry, washington was just deep in the playoffs and they wanna do it while mcdaniels is on a rookie contract. no weapons just gonna walk out the door unless terry himself wants to come here its not going down
