Royals Draft Michael Lombardi (RHP, Tulane) with the 61st overall pick.

Has a really good fastball that is only made better by his curveball. Only has two “developed” pitches at the moment so there is some worries about not making it as a starter. Lombardi mainly was Tulane’s closer but he did start 6 games this season. Over the 2025 season he pitched 40 innings with a 2.14 ERA with 21 walks but 73 K’s. Has some command issues but also had one of the highest whiff rates in the country on pitches in the zone.
Kansas City really likes their Lombardi’s
So KC got another lombardi, he will fit right in with the others./s
I find it funny the chiefs drafted Royals and the Royals drafted Lombardi in the same year. Maybe it is good omen.
Invite him up to KC and stick him in the arrowhead trophy case for a photo op.
