Michael Carcone Signs a 1 Year Contract With The Utah Mammoth
Hey everyone, welcome back to 996 stal. A bit of a surprise to me for sure, maybe do all you as well. Michael Caronei signs back with the Utah Mammoth. One-year league minimum about $775,000. It is a one-way contract. So, if he does pass through waiverss and plays in Tucson, he will get paid this amount amount of money as well. From a Utah perspective, Bill Armstrong perspective, this makes total sense. There’s nothing really to complain about. You get a league minimum player. You add some depth depth. A guy who’s familiar with the organization, with the teammates, with the coaches, with the system. He’s played in the organization for a number of years. He’s a season separated from 20 goals. So maybe unrealistically, he could replicate a 20 goal season. But for Carone, I’m left scratching my head. From his perspective, the season postseason availability. Michael Caronei had some choice words saying he didn’t like how he was given little opportunities with the team. Even though that left me scratching my head where it was a wideopen spot for Hayden and Schmaltz’s wing. They tried Yamamoto, Machelli, sometimes Carone. There was a spot there just no one really took the spot by the reigns. He said he was going to go in a different direction than the team. And then July 1st happened. He didn’t sign with any other team. No team signed him. And now a couple weeks after July 1st, he ressigns with the Utah Mammoths for one-year league minimum minimum. Maybe no other team was willing to give him a one-way contract. It gives him guaranteed money. He’s got a young family, a a young kid who comes to the games to cheer on his dad. So maybe that security was one of the aspects to resigning with Utah. Maybe it was just an emotional time at the end of the season. Frustration abound and maybe he just said things off the cuff that after taking some time he really didn’t mean. But it’s not like he signed a long-term contract. It’s sort of a stop gap. Maybe there’s a handshake between Carone and Bill Armstrong where maybe there’s nothing out there. No one was giving Caronei a call. Maybe throughout the season after training camp when teams have a better outlook of the roster, maybe he could trade him then. Or maybe he just sticks with Utah, becomes that depth forward that the team probably needs. He fills in that fourth line wing position. If you keep all the lines the same, you have Burka filling out that second line wing position. Tanv filling out the third line with McBain and Krauss. Now you got Caronei, Keroot, and Stenland, which is a great fourth line. And then you have guys knocking on the door like Daniel Boot, maybe a unsurprising rookie or a surprising rookie knocks on the door. Maybe Bulldog less likely a Gimla, maybe another forward prospect. And you still have Liam O’Brien up in the press box coming down when he wants to drop the gloves uh maybe on a special night at the Delta Center. But yeah, for Utah, for me, it’s it’s cheap depth. You can’t complain. Yes, he had a rough season last year along with the supporting cast of secondary goal scorers like Krauss, Michelli, Buchad, Machelli and Buchet are gone. So, Carone comes back. Hopefully, he has a better year, but he’s going to still get very little opportunities with this team. If anything, there’s way more competition now than there was a year ago. And I already mentioned all those players that will be battling for Carone for a spot. So, to me, I think this is just security. It’s guaranteed money. And Bill Armstrong, he said it in an interview a day or two ago on a lease podcast regarding Machelli. If a player doesn’t fit the mold of the team or the future of the team, he will do right by the player and find them a new home. So for me, I think this is just guaranteed money for Carone. He adds some depth so that injuries won’t cause a problem in the forward core. We have so much depth on defense. Now it’s about adding depth up front to the forwards. But maybe Baron would do right by Caronei and give him a new team to play for a trade maybe trade deadline if things don’t go well and Caronei doesn’t like how he’s being healthy scratched a lot. So I mean maybe I’m reading too much into this. At the end of the day it’s a player who gets almost a million dollars and the team gets some depth and they’re both happy and we all just move on happily. The schedule releases tomorrow, Wednesday. Wednesday, right, in the afternoon. So, I’ll have a video on the schedule once it’s released. So, that’s it for me. Thanks for watching. If you like what you see, spread the word. And as always, thank you for your
Carcone returns to Utah to add forward depth to a much improved team.

Good to see Carcone back, but for him I would have hoped some other team would have given him more money and bigger role, I think he has Bunting potential.
I am surprised, MC is a good player and I'm a fan. Am happy he is back.
This was a shock after what he said at the end of the year. I honestly hope he has a better season.
Baffling. We now have 24 players on 23-man roster. If Simashev makes the team, two players have to go somehow.
Good depth for Tuscon.
I’m happy for him…always puts his heart and soul into every shift…great kid off the ice too…
