Can Hawks make em an offer for a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him. Lol
let's hope the GM's commit to not paying guarantees to 2nd rounds and lower… The success rate of these players is marginal, at best, and simply not worth any guarantee. However, I do agree that GM's SHOULD be reworking contracts earlier with those players who've proven solid, rather than "enjoying" good rookie deals…..
JS should give our first 2nd round pick the guarantee because all indications are that he will be paying a significant role for the defense. Also, when teams have a first round grade on players but that player somehow falls to that 2nd round for whatever reason, then they should get the guarantee also, especially when a team trade up to the earlier picks off that round to get them. The teams are not hurting for cash. They just want to let the players know who has the power.
Definitely needs to be language stipulated within Arroyo's contract, I would think. He has an extensive injury history, so…
Like the first round guaranteed contracts, the NFL should standardize all rookie contracts
Hopefully the Texans and Browns end up regretting doing this.
