To me, there is very little debate. The biggest might be Starting Pitcher and even then it’s not that deep of a debate:
Beyond Cooper, it’s pretty much Babe Adams, Bob Friend, and Vern Law.
So lets add a post free-agency era SP slot:
That would probably be Drabek for me with Cole and Liriano in contention.
Might be one of the 5 best.
Generic outfield is lazy. They’re individual positions
Crazy how stacked the OF is over the Buccos’ history but they don’t have diddly squat for SPs
Bonds at DH but kiner is playing defense?
I was trying to figure out the roster before I looked. I pretty much nailed it. Even catcher, I was like “fuck, is it Kendall???”
I’d guess the picks are probably based on number of seasons and / or cumulative stats here but if I’m picking a team of all-time Pirates strictly based on how good they were, I’m taking Brian Giles over Cutch and probably taking Skenes already as my SP.
I can’t vouch for his character one way or the other beyond stories we hear, but Giles was SO good here it’s a shame he often gets forgotten about entirely.
Why isn’t Clemente in right? Kiner was primarily a left fielder anyways. And honestly, I’d probably have Skenes as the starter already.
Manny over Kendall.
I’d have AJ Burnett as the starter and Teke as the relief pitcher but other than that it’s a good list.
