As July rolls on, Vanderbilt football is only a couple of weeks away from starting preseason in earnest with fall camp. The Commodores have been on campus going through summer workouts since early June as they participate in weight training, conditioning drills and non-padded football work — think seven-on-seven.

Expectations have never been anywhere near this high heading into a campaign under coach Clark Lea after the ‘Dores went 7-6 last fall and even knocked off a No. 1-ranked team in Alabama. With star quarterback Diego Pavia returning, the black and gold should provide legitimately high-quality, entertaining football in 2025.

So who are the team’s best players heading into this fall? Every preseason, Vandy247 ranks the top 20 Commodores based on a combination of past production, projected playing time, health considerations and feedback from sources. The idea is to look forward and project impact for the coming season more so than look backward and rank solely based on past results.

The series continues today with No. 7:
