Still just as confused a day later

  1. Why is it so confusing?  We traded a 28 year old career minor leaguer for a utility player with a higher OBP than most of our team, in hopes of improving the bench and making a minor improvement to our big league roster. It’s a low upside, low downside move that will hopefully help us win a couple games.

  2. Not sure why people don’t like it/ don’t get it. I assuming he is a bench bat and he’s better than Rave, Canha and Tolbert (and probably Loftin). This move makes our team better imo.

  3. I don’t think it’s confusing at all. For starters, as uninteresting as Frazier’s numbers are, he still has an OPS+ and WAR better than half the position players and he’s the “veteran leadership” guy that replaces Canha. And this is one trade of what can be assumed to be several. Like, do y’all think the Royals are calling it a day after just acquiring him?

We know the team has a lot of problems and needs to improve on the margins. Here’s a margin they improved upon.

  4. I’m still confused as to why half of the fan base is upset about trading a 6 year minor leaguer who was 28 years old for a bench player.

  5. He is also a generally solid situational hitter and with our RISP hitting at bottom of order sucking ass he’s a good fit. He’s also a clubhouse leader and steady presence.

  6. I can’t believe we have people in these comments defending it, what have we not seen from Frazier? The dude hasn’t been a positive bat his entire career and the last thing we need is a shitty hitting utility player, we already have like 4 of those.

  7. I think we got irritated with Frazier last year because he got too much playing time. This year we still have an entire outfield hitting a buck fifty, Frazier was available cheap, and now he’s coming back and he’s going to play 64 of 65 games down the stretch. Difference is Garcia figured some things out so Frazier won’t be playing 3B, but he won’t be competing for playing time with Hampson, so I still think Frazier gets into virtually every game unless the Royals manage to grab a power bat from somewhere, or unless Frazier can’t keep his OBP over .250, because if you’re going to play someone with a sub-.250 OBP, it might as well be someone who can catch and throw.

  8. Jesse Newell this morning on 810 had an interesting theory, he compared Devaney temperament to Moose where’s he’s kind of a redass. He wondered if Devaney was pissed he got called up, had his family at all the games and gets zero action in a game. Maybe he asked/demanded a trade and the front office obliged

  9. Lots of folks are critical
    Of the batting coach..
How bout looking into the management of our minor league teams which have much difficulty adjusting
    To major league ball.
