Ron Holland II Post Game Media vs. Houston | 2025 Summer League

on the floor. But how much do you feel you’ve grown as a leader so far? Uh I feel like I’ve grown a lot. Um I mean I took the summer um day by day um getting in the gym every single day, working on my shot, working on I mean watching film, just learning the pace of the game and everything. Um studying K game, studying how he what he sees on the floor and everything and I feel like it’s definitely been helping me. You’re six of 11 for three through two games. You’ve done a lot of other stuff, but you always talk about the shot. Just how do you feel you’ve been able to showcase your your growth there? Um, I feel like me and Freddy B definitely been in the gym for sure. Um, I mean, it’s no secret behind that. Um, but going out here trying to really keep keep playing my game and showing what I’m going to be doing during regular season, during playoffs, and really just going out here getting the repetition. So, um, I definitely been focused on my shot a lot, but I’m still locked in on defense, locked in on making the right play every single night. And it hasn’t just been catch and shoot. You had, I think, a movement three off a screen last game. You had the step back in the corner. Uh, just how’s your comfort level grown there? just being able to hit different types of threes as well. Yeah. Um I mean when I’m in the gym with Freddy V, we definitely work on catch and shoot. But I mean I’m a basketball player. I I can get to the island, bing bing, I do all that. Like I hoop. Um that’s one thing I got with my game. I I mean me just loving basketball. I know what kind of player that I am. So I always work on that kind of stuff. And I mean while I’m out there getting the reps, I mean that was the right play. I feel like I’m out there just hooping, making the right play. And that was the shot for us. I know um shooting been the number one thing that you know a lot of people have been talking about, but what can you say about your um decision making and play making? It seems like you know the game is starting to slow down for you and it seems um has taken the initiative to like not process everything and just going through the reads and progressions. I think a lot of it was just me watching film um and then bringing the film to the the game play. Uh just knowing that making the right reads um really just playing with pace, not really letting nobody speed me up or slow me not just playing at my pace and being able to see things before it happen. What do you emulate your game after? Um, I ain’t been asked that question in a minute. Um, I I watch a lot of film on Jaylen Brown, uh, defensive film on Drew Holiday, Mel Bridges. Um, it’s a lot of guys I can name, but I mean, a lot of that just goes into the role that I play with this team and I kind of really try to just, uh, execute what I’m going to do with this team because I know what this team expects from me and I work on that every single day. What about you going out? Um, looking up when as a kid I looked up uh, as Kevin Garnett for sure. just mentality, the things that he done on and off the court. Um, and then obviously Kevin Durant, um, what he’s done to the game, basketball, the way he can score in many different ways. Um, I mean, that was just me being taller than everybody, but when I got up here, KD way taller than what people think. So, uh, that was when I kind of had to change my play up a little bit. So, Ron, when you look back at last year, uh, you know, there were obviously rookies who had been bigger numbers, but you played well, it would have been 82 games we Yes. Anyways, but you played every game, you in a rotation, meaning meaningful minutes. You were out there, crucial situations, crunch time situations. Talk about being maybe being in a situation where you just get thrown minutes or being able to earn minutes for a good team. How was able to help your development last year? It’s a blessing for sure. Um, me being a rookie, um, you don’t really see too many rookies getting thrown in those situations. Um, like me, I had my first start against Milwaukee and I got put in a game situation with them, gamewinning situation. Um, I didn’t come through, but I didn’t I didn’t hang my head about it. I just moved on to the next play, moved on to the next game and we played Toronto the next game and I feel like I dominated the game. So, um, like I said, I was really blessed to get that opportunity and just keep going throughout the year getting minutes in playoffs and really a lot of it was me just watching film and breaking everything down and just being able to go out there and really be like, uh, not really looking at it like I’m a rookie, but I’m an NBA player at the end of the day. So, how’s it been getting to know Duncan Robinson and what is he going to bring for you guys next season? Uh, when I seen him, we kind of made a little joke about our little scuffle, but u, I mean, that’s all good. I love that dude. Um we going to have some fun this year. Um I mean everybody know he shoot he shoot the laces off the ball. So he definitely going to fit in with this team for sure. Speaking of um Duncan Robinson, you told us that um like the whole team has had like a lean training camp up here. Um is there anything that you can share about some of the battles that you guys have had so far and how competitive it’s been? Uh it’s been really competitive. Um we just been going at each other. Um, but we at the end of the day, we know we’re working for we’re trying to get each other better every single day because at the end of the day when we get back to regular season, we’re going to be fighting for something and we trying to make a lot of noise this year. We’re trying to bring a championship to this franchise. Thanks, Ron. Yep. I appreciate you. [Music]
