The guy was an unknown first round draft pick who has shown promise but has been plagued with injuries. It sounds like he and the coach/GM rubbed each other the wrong way.
Who knows what happened behind the scenes. The NHL is a business.
So he requested a trade? He wants a fresh start. Imagine if normal people were ridiculed like this when they put in their two week notice or quit their job.
Sounds like great motivation to play well. Win win.
I guess I’ll have to get a new jersey.
I don’t want to break up the Russian magic, but he’s gotta get more consistently healthy and better defensively. I want it to work for him and this team, but if it ain’t it’d then it ain’t it
As a Cleveland sports fan that has only started following the Blue Jackets these past few seasons all I can say is… why does God hate us?
If you guys read the Russian article , seems like Evason and his staff poorly communicated with Chinakov

Just disappointing. That’s all I can say.
I wonder if this was known before the draft?
You have to imagine that 2x 1st round picks + Chinakhov may have netted us a nice return.
I don’t mind trading him ….
But hope we can get a ready-to-contribute-now player in return.
A 2nd or 3rd line quality winger would be nice IMO.
