Let me I’m going to ask some questions in in between all of this. So late bloomer with basketball, soccer was soccer was first. All right. How much did you did you think soccer let’s say you’re 12 13 before turning 14 did you think soccer was everything? Um not really. Uhhuh. Um but for me the soccer it was more like um obese you know not like I was not really um not very the best also but okay. Uh yeah the the so for me it was yeah just like OP. Yeah. And what happened? What happened when you turned 14? Uh uh funny problem, but uh I had my foot was very like was too big for the for the soccer shoes. And uh but on this period, my mom like uh uh she tried to find some shoes for me like she she she uh order in in Spain for me, but yeah, my my foot just just was just big and it’s why I stopped it and now I play basketball. Then you started playing basketball. So, it’s been a I mean, we’re talking a short amount of time that you’ve been playing ball and now you’re in the NBA. You’re with the Minnesota Timber Wolves. What was draft night like for you when you thought about your journey? Uh, the draft night was like a dream. I didn’t on the on on the night I didn’t realize uh like you know it’s the draft like it was just amazing and uh to to be there with my family my friends and was just amazing. That was a fun night. We’re here in Las Vegas. And so you go from NBA draft first time in New York. Yes. First time. First time in New York. First time in Las Vegas. Yes. What’s what’s you’re 18 years old, all these amazing experiences. What has summer league been like for you so far? It’s first is very good experience. uh you know my when I the first time when I watch the sum it was when when Byama he start and I but like I watch it with some friends and now to like to be here it’s like uh I I don’t realize and just I I enjoy the moment and I try to do myself my things and to try to win all the game and yeah take take fun I can I can tell you trying to win all the games summer league game number one Very different from your first competitive basketball experience. You were blocking everything. That time Baron Jay got the block. Terrific defensive range and anticipation. His ability to protect the front, get out on ball screens, switch ball screen, short block. He jump at everything. But I love the fact that he he go for everything and try to meet everything at the rim. I mean, yeah, he he attack the ball every time if you go up the he going to try to block it. So, I mean, he bound to get a block. He’s 7 foot. So, he’s got great timing. He’s always got his hands ready. If you guys notice, like he’s kind of always got like a stick hand up. Um, and he just has unbelievable timing. We saw I saw it right off the jump. How good did that feel? He had five blocks in the first half, seven for the game. How good did that feel to go out there and contribute the way you did? Honestly, the the basketball is different. Like when I block like time, they still go to to the layer. I was okay. But yeah, it’s um it’s a good uh good I’m very very happy to be here and yeah, I enjoy the game. Enjoy every game. I want to ask you about your teammates um that you’re playing with here in in summer league play. Uh let me start with Terrence Shannon Jr. How good is he and you’ve been able to watch him and what he’s been able to do not just in practice, but he’s been killing in these first few games. Yeah, you know, like still it’s crazy to to to uh to play with him because the last last year like I had some some Tik Tok like like yeah Tik Tok from him like he drank on the summer league against Miy like this you know crazy and yeah to play with him it’s like still it’s it’s like it’s crazy also and like he’s very good he on the practice he’s 100% like he want to win and this is the type of teammate we we need. Yeah. How about Rob Dillingham point guard? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Rob is very good also with me but with the team like you know he pushed me like my first game before the like my first game of summer league. I was I was a little bit like anxious like Yeah. And he he just he told me to to uh be confident and play and yeah, you know, and he every day like he pushed me he give me some advice and he’s very good to play with him also. Well, the Timber Wolves get a couple of bigs in the draft. Rocco seems like a he’s a he’s a big guy, but he’s also a big personality. Yeah, Roco is funny. Yeah, I’m I’m a If we don’t play tour together, I’m will and I’m bad. I’m bad. Roco is very funny. Uh we we take a lot of time together. Uh and yeah, he’s very very funny and I’m very happy to be here with him to be drafted with him and yeah, we we practice together all the time, but he’s very funny.
