A Steelers Fan Reaction to Re-Signing TJ Watt

We did it. We signed TJ Watt. I don’t have to cry at night anymore. Another day where I’m grateful that Lamar Jackson can run. It’s a three-year deal. A great compromise. I’m legitimately happy. Sometimes I hate this team. I’m telling you, this is going to be the greatest wildcard exit yet. Can someone please explain to me why we haven’t paid Micah Parsons yet? Hey, Bengals. That’s how you sign a defensive player. [Music] I don’t want to talk about it. You know what? I’m going to say it and I don’t care who hears it. I don’t think we’re going 9 and 8. I think we’re going 10 and seven. Maybe Miles Garrett’s still better. The good news is that the world ends before the season starts. I could just pretend we were going to be champions. Oh yeah? Well, we signed Von Miller and if I hit this stash hard enough, my brain will think that we have TJ Watt instead of Von Miller. So, who’s the real winner? A JJ Watt is congratulating his brother online. You know, the only thing better than brothers, cousins. [Music]

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made TJ Watt the highest paid non-QB in NFL history with a 3 year, $123M contract with $108M guaranteed.

  1. Don't know what Pittsburgh is thinking, but they just sunk themselves for several years.
#1. You KNOW Watt is going to be injured a significant percentage of the time, he is or at least WAS an ELITE player WHEN healthy, but he also runs at 110% all the time, so breakdowns are a guarantee. So guaranteeing $108m on a player that likely will only play 50-67% of the time at best, seems way, way too high.
#2. Rodgers is also likely due for another long term injury due to opening game against the Jets (same field where he got injured in 2023) and age. The only way Rodgers makes it through the season without being injured is if he is so bad that he gets benched.
#3. What are the odds that Cousins ends up being the starter for Pittsburgh because Rodgers gets injured or is bad?

  2. At least the Steelers defense isn't cursed, unlike their offense….*side eyes Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf, and also side eyes George Pickens even though he's a Cowboy now*

  3. Cincinnati fan here , and AFC North football is the best , and the hardest , hard nosed division in the whole league. This division is everything that football is about. Even the rivalries is harder than any other divisional rivalries. Cincinnati vs Pittsburgh is one of the nastiest rivalries in the game. Baltimore vs Pittsburgh definitely grew over the years . And we all agree that we hate the Browns lol

  4. If we don't win the super bowl this season. We are screwed big time with these contracts were given out. He is a great player but at 31 years old. Constantly hurt, averages 9 games a season. This might be worse than the deshaun Watson contract
