I know you're a big Mavericks fan… Where were you during the Luka Dončić trade, and what has it been like to process going from that to landing Cooper Flagg?

It took me a while [to process everything]. I was actually at home when the Dončić trade happened in bed like I'm sure a lot of people were, and I remember rolling over and waking my wife up to tell her, like she cared as much as I did. She basically put on a good face for me, but she rolled over, went back to sleep, and it kept me up for a couple hours. But, it's more than just a basketball player, man. I've known Luka since he was 18 years old in Dallas, and I was down there, like 22 years old. So, [I'm] happy for him that he got to get to the Lakers, a great organization, and I'm sure the sky is the limit for them there, but [it's] exciting for me to win the draft lottery, a roller coaster of emotions, and getting Cooper Flagg now, it's going to be an amazing team. Get everybody back healthy, and we'll have as good a chance as anybody at making a run at the title this next year.

  11. Actually did that to my wife as well … she had no idea what was going on but I had to tell someone!

  13. The voice they use for mahomes on the “bad lip reading” videos is the voice I just read this in. It’s mahomes true voice.

  15. I was also in bed when this happened. I did not bother my wife about it as she was already asleep and probably doesn’t know who Luka Doncic is

  20. Lol, its wild, its like the only trade that’s ever hit me like that as well. I was about to go to bed when the trade came through, and I went through the stages of “its fake”, “shams got hacked”, etc then ended up staying up another couple hours texting with friends that were in the same boat

I was actually in bed when Luka got traded and saw it on my phone and said “Holy shit, what the fuck”, and my wife was like “Is everything OK” and then I explained to her what happened, and she tried to act like she was humoring me at said something like “oh wow, that is really interesting” and then immediately went back to whatever was on he Instagram reels.

  25. Crazy how the Luka trade has greats from every sport sharing some kind of story like it was 9/11, MJ retiring, or Kobe story.

  34. This is pretty much the same thing that happened to me except I was downstairs turning the TV off about to go to bed when it came across. Went up to bed and my Wife woke up and I had to tell her all about it. She was just like “that’s great” rolled over and went back to sleep

  37. Weird how this became so significant, we all know exactly where we were the moment news hit, like 9/11.

    I was in bed and screamed a bloody murder, my husband was still up and came running to the room convincing me that’s just a rumour. He handled the whole thing much better than I did and moved on, I still ask myself every single day what alternative universe I hopped into.
