If they win over 32 I’ll be shocked. There are 8 teams who are probably looking for the top 6 spots in the west to avoid the play in.
Thunder
Nuggets
Rockets
Wolves
Clippers
Lakers
Warriors
Spurs
All 8 are obviously and undeniably better than the Pels. Then you have another 6 teams for the last 2 play in spots:
Mavericks
Grizzlies
Suns
Blazers
Kings
Pels
Then you have Utah tanking.
It’s more believable that the pelicans finish the season as the 14th team in the west than in the top 10.
Zach Lowe on his most recent podcast expects the Blazers to be better than the Pels and it’s hard to disagree when you start to go down the line ups and depth on each of these teams. For the Pels to even get above 9th or 10th in the west you are praying for multiple teams to have catastrophic injuries or drop offs.
90% of the salary being hurt within the first month sunk last season immediately. Maybe the potential can come thru if healthy, but also it’s the Pels so hopium levels dont really mean anything.
