ESPN: Records show new details of unusual betting on NBA's Rozier
A professional bettor placed 30 wagers in 46 minutes, all involving Terry Rozier in a 2023 NBA game, according to documents obtained by ESPN that reveal new details about the suspicious betting under scrutiny by federal investigators.
On the morning of March 23, 2023, a bettor at a sportsbook in Biloxi, Mississippi placed $13,759 in bets on the unders on Rozier's statistics in a game that night between the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans, according to the documents, which ESPN acquired through an open records request. All 30 bets won, after Rozier, an eight-year veteran with the Hornets at the time, exited 10 minutes into the game, citing a foot issue.
In all, at least six sportsbooks in multiple states detected suspicious betting on Rozier props that day, with the bulk of the activity occurring in Louisiana and Mississippi, according to sources familiar with a report issued by U.S. Integrity, a firm that monitors the betting market for abnormalities.

Jontay Porter walked so Rozier could run
Yeah that’s obviously very suspicious lmao
Imagine if it’s just some random pelicans fan who really hated terry rozier
wtf is a professional bettor? Isn’t that just a gambling addict?
Let’s be real here. Placing the under on Terry Rozier isn’t too crazy
These sports betting stuff is getting out of control
I didn’t even know you could make 30 bets on a single player in a single game.
I would think a sportsbook would have a max count or dollar amount on simultaneous single player prop bets? It’s crazy that there are even 30 conditional player props you could bet on for Terry Rozier in a single game.
It was MJ
Not saying he’s innocent but is this uncommon? If you’re a degen gambler and think a guy is going to be off for whatever reason (form, fitness, matchup, etc.) wouldn’t you take all the unders?

This should be included in the description for this post. Makes it wayyy more suspicious
I don’t know if they mentioned it in the article if it was 1 person or multiple people but its suspicious either way. One person betting across multiple states? Shady as hell. Multiple people collaborating it across states is also as well
>$13,759
Didn’t have an extra dollar to make it an even $13,760🤷🏽♂️
Guys like Nick Young are lucky they aren’t playing in this era. He’d get caught up in doing something like this immediately.
What kind of sports book offers 30 Terry Rozier props???
Oh he’s cooked
> A week later, on April 12, a Caesars representative informed the commission in an email that it was settling the wagers on Rozier. The bettor won a net $13,017.70.
This smells like someone had insider information from the training staff.
If Terry Rozier voluntarily removed himself from the game faking an injury for a few grand, he’s an absolute moron.
The NBA should step in and stop these stupid player specific bets but then again it’s probably helping catch these dumb players?
This is just one of many examples that the feds have they don’t waste time and resources unless they are 100 percent sure they can convict.
This ESPN article was brought to you by DraftKings.
how dumb are people to at least fabricate something like 23 wins and 7 losses
How much money did that pay out?
Either he’s guilty or there’s somebody in Mississippi who really hates Rozier and wanted to see him fail.
How much did that bet pay out?
I remember there being a story about Rozier getting pissed at teammates for small stat things like grabbing a rebound over him. It was waved off as him not being a team player, but gambling makes that make a lot more sense
If I saw Rozier limping in a restaurant am I allowed to bet all his unders the next day?
I don’t bet on sports so I don’t really get all the ins and outs of it.
Betting the unders on Terry Rozier in a Hornets – Pelican game in March sounds like a sentence i would come up with on the fly if you asked me to talk about where you’d start shaving points 😂
They opened the Pandora box, and then act surprised when the calamities come out.
Oh sure when the 30 bets in one day hit it kicks off an investigation. But when all 30 of my overs on Kyle Kuzma miss in a playoff game where are the repercussions?!?!

Terry “The Under” Rozier.
All I gotta say is that when the media goes on their frenzy to villainize the players, don’t forget the NBA, who bent the knee to Vegas in the first place 🤷♂️ they created their own problem and used the players as scapegoats. Not to say they should gamble, but the league opened this Pandora’s box.
Anyone interested in this should listen to the episode of Pablo Torre where about Malik Beasley.
What they discover expands into the Porter situation, and I wonder if it also extends into Rozier? Cuz this situation has been pretty quiet for like 6 months.
The existence of these bets in the first replace basically guarantees that people will abuse then. And now we’re wasting taxpayer dollars investigating stuff that anyone could’ve seen coming.
I refuse to treat this like a big deal. The league endorses this stuff, they need to deal with the consequences
this dude has no clue how to handle money, he’s got 5 different baby mamas and a host of his boys on the payroll…..not surprised he’s gone down this hole – I’m ok with sports betting, I’m not ok with over/under betting on individual player stats though, makes crap like this way too tempting/easy. Which team will win, over/under points, don’t bet on anything else. Problem solved.
I just don’t get how a guy in line to sign a contract worth probably $40 million could think it worth it to try and make a like $1m in bets when there’s literally any entire division of the FBI that for some unexplained reason is devoted solely to sports gambling as opposed to wage theft
if i had $13,759 to gamble id probably bet it all on terry roziers unders too
I’m trying to give benefit of the doubt here, but there’s just weird things.
Was it a clause for percentage of games played that season? Probably not. He surpassed 75% of the team’s games the previous game. This game put him over 76% I guess.
Was it a clause around minutes played in total? The 9:34 he played that game took him to 2221 on the season. 2220 seems like a really weird clause to have.
He’d also been a pretty healthy player to date in his career, so having any clauses related to games or minutes played to earn bonuses seems unlikely.
He’s not any big, round totals for the season (e.g. the 4 rebounds earned him some bonus for hitting X total on the season). Totals on the season were 63GP, 493FGM, 259TRB, 319AST, 74STL, 16BLK, 1239 total points.
Playing the limited minutes would only hurt per game totals, so that wouldn’t be it.
To me, seems like it points to either Rozier being in on it, or a trainer tipping someone off to an actual serious foot issue, like “Hey, the team will try to have Rozier play on plantar fascitis. If he can’t go, he’ll be pulled after 10 minutes and sit the rest of the game.”
The only real cover for Rozier is that he sat the rest of the season after that (so likely an actual injury, or at least the team dictated he sit for the sake of tanking), and the amount being so small as to be insignificant. Just for playing in that game, he made $262K.
That last point should be the strongest one in Rozier’s favor, but richer people have done dumber things for smaller amounts of money.
*Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans*
It’s a good thing there aren’t any NBA teams involved in this betting investigation…
